Hungary vs. the EU — Who Will Win?

I wouldn’t have Péter Szijjártó’s job for ANYTHING.

Mr. Szijjártó is a member of the National Assembly of Hungary, and holds the office of foreign minister in the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. It is in the latter capacity that he is obliged to serve as the whipping boy of the European Union. Hungary under Viktor Orbán and Fidesz is the designated enemy of the progressive right-minded globalist apparatchiks of Brussels, and the Hungarian foreign minister’s job is to cower before them, cap in hand, in the European Parliament, in front of the European Commission, or in the television studios of various state media outlets in Western Europe.

That last function is what is recorded in the video below. Péter Szijjártó has been summoned by the BBC to appear before a relentlessly abrasive inquisitor and answer for his government’s sins against progressive orthodoxy. In particular, he is grilled about his country’s recently revised law that prohibits propagandizing for sexual perversion in Hungarian schools.

Mr. Szijjártó maintains his unruffled good humor and calm demeanor throughout this segment. I don’t know how he manages not to tell the guy: “You can take this interview and shove it up your [nether orifice].” And then rip off his mike and stomp out of the studio.

You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din.

Correction on the Bus Placard in Budapest

A couple of days ago I posted a report by our Hungarian correspondent László about an apparent “vaccine passport” that was required to board buses in Budapest. It turns out that the placard in question was a well-executed hoax. László sends the following correction, emphasizing that the rest of his report — drawn from official Hungarian government sources — is accurate.

Fact check: the placard is fake, but Corona apartheid is in the air in Hungary

by László

THE PLACARD IS FAKE. I phoned the office of the PR department for the Budapest Public Transport company (BKV) today, and they told me that the placard is fake, and no vaccine passport is required on the public transport in Budapest. The woman who answered the phone told me that others were also contacting them about the placard.

Yesterday I wrote an email to the party that posted the fake placard, and to the Budapest public transport company, but none of them responded, so I decided to call the PR Department of the transport company, which did answer the call despite the holiday.

I am sorry; I take the responsibility for this.

However, the rest of the report GoV posted is valid, meaning that the discriminatory digital vaccine passport will eventually be introduced in Hungary, in some shape or form.

I started suspecting that the placard was fake when I couldn’t find any other news about it within a couple of days. I usually check important pieces of news at several sources. But this time I failed to do that because the placard looked so real — and it confirmed my expectations…

There is another placard at the official webpage of the Budapest Public Transport company. This placard does not discriminate the unvaccinated, it just states (issued on March 26) that the front door is closed for EVERYBODY — as you can read in English on the placard in the link. And here is another clue from March: this photo shows that the front seats are closed down, but there is no word about the vaccine passport, either.

So now I have been duped, which is a shame. But I was not the only one — so the moral of the story is that vaccine apartheid is in the air in Hungary, because it has been announced by the Prime Minister.

The good side of it is the party that posted the fake image (Mi Hazánk / Our Homeland) opposes lockdowns and the discriminatory “vaccine passport” (and they are the only party that does so).

All in all, the vaccine apartheid on the public transport may be another “conspiracy theory” that will come true in the near future; since Corona Fascism has proven to be mutating too, as it follows the new “mutations” of the virus…

Corona Apartheid in Budapest

A number of Western countries have instituted various forms of discrimination against those who have not been “vaccinated” against the Wuhan Coronavirus. Hungary now has its version of the infamous “vaccine passports”. Our Hungarian correspondent László sends this report from Budapest.

Corona apartheid on Budapest public transport — photo

by László

Lockdown extortion morphs into vaccine apartheid, Israeli-style. The above photo shows Corona apartheid on public transport in Budapest.

Text on the placard:

Yellow text on red surface: “VACCINATION BOOKLET”

White text on green surface: “Get on by showing your VACCINATION BOOKLET”

Explanation of the placard: You are not allowed get on the bus at the front door unless you prove that you are vaccinated / immunized, to save the driver from the virus. It is not the heralded digital “vaccination passport” yet; it is a printed one.

Hungary’s Corona policy is now shifting from lockdowns towards vaccination apartheid. As PM Viktor Orbán said in a recent interview titled “We are on the way to freedom”:

“Those who think that the lockdowns can stop the virus are mistaken.” In his opinion, this was true for last year’s virus, but the new British variant can only be slowed down by restrictions, but it cannot be stopped. […]

Viktor Orbán also said: “when people see that some services and ‘the opportunities for happy community life are connected to the ‘proof of immunization’, then the number of registrations [for vaccination] ‘will get a boost’ and more people will feel that it is worth it to get themselves inoculated.” (Koronavirus_gov_hu)

So extortion by lockdowns is seemingly morphing into extortion by ‘vaccine passports’ / ‘immunity passports’, as your ‘happy community life’ will now depend on your immunization status.

Hungary is following Israel’s (fascist) Corona policy: PM Viktor Orbán even visited Israel a couple of weeks ago to meet PM Netanyahu and study the Israeli “pandemic strategy”. And the Hungarian media are proudly trumpeting that Hungary’s population is one of “the most vaccinated” in the EU, with the number of those inoculated above 2 million i.e. 20% of the total population.

Migrants Break Into Hungary

The following video reports on an incursion of military-age migrants into a farmstead in the south of Hungary. Border security in the area seems to have broken down, to the point that hundreds of these young culture-enrichers have been able to enter the country and squat in local properties.

CrossWare, who translated the video for subtitles, includes these contextual notes:

  • Szeged: nearby major Hungarian city
  • Ásotthalom: a small border town in the south of Hungary. László Toroczkai, the creator of the video, is the mayor of the town.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

As an afterword, the translator also sends these thoughts about the events in the video and the current political situation in Hungary:

First of all, this guy László Toroczkai is the president of a party called “Mi Hazánk Párt” (Our Country Party).

His party was created after the 2018 election loss by Jobbik, which had moved from being a radical right-wing party into an alliance with all post-communist and globalist parties. The leaders of the new party had all been in Jobbik, assisting this “new alliance”, but when the election results came out (Fidesz’ third 2/3 victory), it became clear that they would not receive high-paying jobs in the new Parliament. That is when they left Jobbik.

So their posturing as “true patriots” smells a bit fishy to me. But still, he raises many good points.

The Fidesz government and Viktor Orbán are indeed behaving very strangely. The border defense has in fact decreased, as if the government has lost interest in the fight against migration. But their fight against the “deadly pandemic” is beyond imagination. We have been in lockdown for months now. One can only venture out to work, while all entertainment, restaurants, and hotels are closed. We have a curfew between 8pm and 5am. Viktor Orbán emphasised that opening will only be possible only after a majority of the population has been vaccinated. (That would mean the vaccination of more than 5 million people, but only 1.2 million have registered so far, so they are in trouble in this area).

In the meantime, the right-wing media are in full spin mode. On some of the sites comments are censored, and doctors who raise questions about the “deadliness” of the “plague” are silenced the same way that they are in the USA, UK or Germany.

I read multiple articles with speeches by Orbán and his closest people, talking about how Hungary will be the winner of the New World Order economy, which will be coming after COVID. If someone were to ask me to speculate, I would say they sat down and made a deal with the Cabal that Hungary will be spared from the Great Reset (at least most of the population will not be murdered, but as an exchange Viktor Orbán will stop resisting them and sell us into slavery). He is a great politician with excellent skills for negotiation and an ability to compromise, but I think he went too far in this case. Yes, he might think it is better that instead of murdering us, we will be slaves to the global elite — after all we are smart, industrious people… but selling our souls to save our bodies is too high a price for me, anyway…

I have contacts within the Fidesz party, and I know that for years now the general membership of the party have had no connection, no real communication, no conversation with the leadership of the party (it started long before COVID). The middle-upper leaders are all in Budapest, successfully isolating the highest level of the leadership from the rank-and-file membership. Viktor Orbán is cut off from the rest of the population. Sounds familiar? Yes, because that is exactly what happened with Trump. I see many parallel between them. I am fully convinced that the Deep State are vastly present in the Fidesz leadership, in the government, and especially in the judicial system, just like in the USA.

I am not sure what is coming. People are slowly waking up to the reality that even the Fidesz government is not serving their interests. However, we have no alternative solution. The Left is full of political radicals and criminals, and the right — well, there id only László Toroczkai with his tiny 2% party and with his suspicious goals.

God help us all. I feel really black-pilled!

To Ride the Bus You Must Wear the Corona Hijab

Our Hungarian correspondent László sends this report on his determined efforts to test the limits of the COVID-19 regimen, seeing how far he can push back before he encounters official obstruction.

A Report From Budapest: Covid-19 Tyranny is Getting Worse

I am fed up, but will not give up

by László

I just want to let off steam, and let you know how things are going mad here in Budapest, too. Softly mad, but mad. Some right-wing news outlets that have their own private comment section have started censoring C19 truth like crazy. We used to have freedom of speech in those comment walls… Soon no freedom of speech will be left. And the stupid, relentless official C19 propaganda is the same here as everywhere else in the world.

However, the police are probably not as tough as in other Western countries. There was a smaller lockdown demo here in Budapest today (300 people) and the cops did not beat anyone, and nobody was arrested. But the officers were arguing with the demonstrators in a totalitarian way, such as: “This is not the way to protest.” It would be funny if it were not so serious. Here is a video of the demo.

I met cops during a night curfew in a suburb some weeks ago — they pulled over in their car and asked me what I was doing there in the street (I was walking for sport), but they did not fine me or take me to jail. They asked my name, and said, “OK, take care, it is late.” The streets were empty; no people. I was walking alone near a park.

Today I refused to wear the Corona Hijab on a public bus. The driver publicly threatened that he would not start the vehicle till I masked up. I answered him (and everyone) loudly: “There is no pandemic whatsoever; wake up, everyone.” Then I told the driver that “OK, I will put it on; you can start.” So he started the engine. He answered on the loudspeaker (so that everybody could hear it): “OK, but this is the law.” (to wear a mask) Thus he revealed he also knew that this whole Covid thing was only a scam. When the bus started off from the stop, I again took off the mask, so that everyone including the driver could see my unmasked face. We were on the road in heavy traffic in the city between bus stops, so he could not just stop and throw me out.

Soon, as I was looking out of the window with my maskless face, watching the night city lights passing by, the driver spied my trick in the mirror and told me (on the loudspeaker again) that I had to “get off the bus when we reach the next stop” because I had no mask on. I responded loudly, “OK, of course, no problem”. Then, just before we reached the next stop I put on the mask again theatrically. So that he could not expel me, and had to start the bus again, because I was legal again. But when we were driving between two stops again, I took off the hijab again. I played this game a couple of times, until the bus reached my destination.

Then I walked by the driver’s compartment and told him that this would not do. He answered that he had to do this, because the bus is full of cameras, and “Who will pay my fine? And I will not be able to feed my children.” I told him that there will come much bigger problems for all of us than his feeding his children if we all do not rebel. And then I got off the bus where I originally planned to. There were about ten people on the bus. Everybody was looking down all the way, all of them properly “hijabed”, and nobody tried to communicate with me in any way during the conflict. They avoided the hassle, and even eye contact.

Viktor Orbán’s Fourth Answer to George Soros’ Article

For the last few months the European Commission, acting as a puppet for George Soros, has been attempting to force Hungary and Poland to adopt the progressive cultural and political policies as practiced by the western portion of the European Union. The rules imposed by Brussels that Central Europe would be required to abide by are laughably designated the “rule of law”.

Last week the two sides stood eye to eye, and Brussels blinked. The budget process has now been decoupled from the “rule of law”, and the money spigots will open again.

Last month I posted one of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s replies to George Soros. Below is Mr. Orbán’s latest response, as published by the Hungarian news agency MTI (Magyar Távirati Iroda) and translated by CrossWare:

Announcement by the Prime Minister’s Press Office

Budapest
Sunday, December 13, 2020
Viktor Orbán’s answer to the writing of György Soros

Europe has not surrendered — Samizdat 4.

George Soros sheds crocodile tears. While this does not return the money of millions of people, families, businesses robbed by speculators, it is enough for modest satisfaction. The most corrupt man in the world and his network have good reason to be disappointed. Europe has not surrendered; Soros’ grandiose plan has been suspended at the European Council. The spotlight is on budget money, the recovery fund, and who has access to what and how. After all, we live in a material world. But the money in the Union’s budget has so far been kept under strict and multiple European supervision in all member states. The dog is buried elsewhere…

Who will govern Europe in the future? That was the real bet at last week’s meeting. Will the governments elected by the citizens of the member states and their council govern Europe, or Soros will succeed in building a new power structure? A network of NGOs disseminating liberal, post-national and post-Christian ideas, the mainstream left-wing and right-wing media carrying and reinforcing those ideas, a significant group of MEPs, the so-called Soros envoys brought to the Commission and a mechanism called the “rule of law” linking them — these will stand?

The plan is as simple as it is grandiose. The headquarters of a financial center, George Soros, funds thousands of NGOs, research institutes, analytical workshops and activists who influence the direction of mainstream media. It buys and networks a critical mass of MEPs, putting the people who work for him in key positions such as [Frans] Timmermans and Vera Jourová. Finally, it adopts legislation that sets political preconditions — gender, migration, an open society, liberal democracy — for member states to gain access to EU funds.

Countries that insist on their national sovereignty, Christian roots, and traditional family model, such as Poland and Hungary, must be hanged on this well-considered rope. And those who are reluctant, such as the better-off Central European countries and the renowned Scandinavians, need to be assigned to a public “actus fidei” [Latin, “the act of faith” — medieval judgment by the church] to understand the essence of liberal reasoning.

At the last minute, European governments woke up. They read the “rule of law” country reports written by György Soros and Frans Timmermans with Ms. Jourová. Suddenly, everyone understood that the verdict had already been handed down before the trial, and there would be others after Hungary and Poland.

Viktor Orbán: “The Soros network is the greatest threat faced by the states of the European Union”

The renowned Hungarian-American “philanthropist” George Soros has aimed another angry salvo at Hungary and Poland, which have so far resisted the diktats of the European Union and thwarted the plans of Mr. Soros and his minions to achieve full political, monetary, social, and cultural uniformity among the former nation-states of Europe.

The great philanthropist has made Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán a particular target in his latest article. Our Hungarian correspondent CrossWare sends these notes about Mr. Soros’ intervention:

I know you are busy with the sham so-called election over there, but in the meantime the globalist George Soros network launched another attack against Poland and Hungary. The latest article by Soros, who is demanding that EU leaders punish Hungary and Poland for not accepting the undefined “rule of law” conditions attached to the next EU budget, was published by a group called “Project Syndicate”.

When Viktor Orbán wrote a response, the same publication refused to publish it (in the name of tolerance and liberal principles, obviously). For now the Hungarian government official site is hosting the letter, which was published in Hungarian, German and English.

Let’s review what is going on: The EU wants to define the budget for the next seven years. They also want to get a huge loan to “help” the southern nations, which are always in financial trouble, but now with the COVID are even more down than usual.

It also does not help that all southern states — Greece, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy — are under the rule of leftist governments, who are busy pampering illegal Muslim migrants instead of helping their own economy. They are desperate for more money, obviously for more migrants.

Just like the Democrats with their rabid leftists in their ranks, the EU is also having the same ideological trouble. They call it the “respect for the rule of law”, which is somehow lacking in two countries that do not want to accept those nice military-age Muslim rocket scientists. The real term has never been defined, and it is always used as a political bludgeon.

Last summer the European Commission decided not to get into a discussion on this highly political topic, and wanted to discuss it separately. However, the European Parliament, where Soros has a comfortable majority, overruled that decision.

Now they are once again attaching conditions to the EU budget. One must understand that the money in the budget does not provide gifts for Hungary and the other member countries. That is the price for opening their market and adjusting regulations. The best analogy would be that Hungary is a landlord that rents out his apartment. The tenant is the EU, which is using the apartment and its facilities. One day the tenant decides that he will not pay any more rent until the landlord proves he is “cool”.

What does coolness mean? Nobody knows, but it is whatever the tenant wants at that moment. One day it means the landlord must hop on one leg, or perhaps he has to let in more people into the apartment for free; perhaps he should let the tenant to grope the landlord’s children…

Actually, the real problems are as follows:

  • The northern countries do not want to finance the loser southern states. But they do not want to deny them openly; thus they force the arch-enemy states Hungary and Poland into a situation that they know they will never accept.
  • They want both countries to open their borders and accept Muslim migrants. Primarily Germany wants to dump their useless migrant population they have collected over the last few years.
  • The leftists also want migrants imported into those countries to increase their voter base and eliminate alternative ideas against their Liberal-Bolshevik Caliphate.
  • And of course the LGBTQ… XYZ (soon P for pedophilia) mob wants to enter the kindergartens and prepare the next generation of fresh meat for themselves with sensitivity training.

Below are excerpts from Mr. Soros’ article (the complete original is here):

Europe Must Stand Up to Hungary and Poland

by George Soros

The European Union cannot afford to compromise on the rule-of-law provisions it applies to the funds it allocates to member states. How the EU responds to the challenge to those provisions now posed by Hungary and Poland will determine whether it survives as an open society true to the values upon which it was founded.

NEW YORK — Hungary and Poland have vetoed the European Union’s proposed €1.15 trillion ($1.4 trillion) seven-year budget and the €750 billion European recovery fund. Although the two countries are the budget’s biggest beneficiaries, their governments are adamantly opposed to the rule-of-law conditionality that the EU has adopted at the behest of the European Parliament. They know that they are violating the rule of law in egregious ways, and do not want to pay the consequences.

It is not so much an abstract concept like the rule of law that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and, to a lesser extent, Poland’s de facto ruler, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, oppose. For them, the rule of law represents a practical limit on personal and political corruption. The veto is a desperate gamble by two serial violators.

It was also an unprecedented step, coming at a moment when Europe is suffering from a dangerous surge of COVID-19 cases, and it threw the other EU countries’ representatives into confusion. But when the shock wore off, closer analysis revealed that there is a way around the veto.

The rule-of-law regulations have been adopted. In case there is no agreement on a new budget, the old budget, which expires at the end of 2020, is extended on a yearly basis. Hungary and Poland would not receive any payments under this budget, because their governments are violating the rule of law.

Likewise, the recovery fund, called Next Generation EU, could be implemented by using an enhanced cooperation procedure, as Guy Verhofstadt has proposed. If the EU went down this road, the Orbán-Kaczynski veto could be circumvented. The question is whether the EU, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel perhaps leading the way, can muster the political will.

I am a committed supporter of the EU as a model of an open society built on the rule of law. Being of Hungarian Jewish origin, I am particularly concerned with the situation in Hungary, where I have been active as a philanthropist for more than 30 years.

[…]

Hungary’s opposition parties are bravely trying to challenge Orbán by forming a common list of candidates for the 2022 general election. But their chances of success are limited because Orbán can change the rules at short notice, as he has already done several times before. Conveniently, Orbán is planning to introduce the latest changes to the electoral law while the pandemic is raging, Budapest is under curfew, and soldiers are patrolling the streets.

Moreover, Orbán exercises almost total control over the countryside, where the majority of the population lives. He controls the information they receive, and voting in many villages is not secret. There is practically no way the opposition can prevail.

Only the EU can help. EU funds, for example, should be directed to local authorities, where there is still a functioning democracy in Hungary, unlike at the national level.

The EU can’t afford to compromise on the rule-of-law provisions. How it responds to the challenge posed by Orbán and Kaczynski will determine whether it survives as an open society true to the values upon which it was founded.

This is the full text of Viktor Orbán’s response, which Project Syndicate refused to publish:

Europe must not succumb to the Soros network

November 25, 2020

Reply to the article by George Soros

Many believe that the prime minister of a country should not enter into an argument with George Soros. Their reasoning is that Soros is an economic criminal, because he made his money through speculation, ruining the lives of millions of people, and even blackmailing entire national economies. Just as governments must not negotiate with terrorists, they say, prime ministers must likewise not debate with economic criminals.

Yet now I am compelled to do so, because in an article appearing on the Project Syndicate website on 18 November, the Hungarian-born speculator and billionaire George Soros issued open commands to the leaders of the European Union. In his article he instructs them to severely punish those Member States that do not want to become part of a unifying European empire under the banner of a global “open society”.

Do They Really Mean It?

Last night’s post about French President Emmanuel “Toy Boy” Macron started a conversation in the comments about whether or not Mr. Macron sincerely wants to stop (or slow) the encroachment of Islam in France. The translated article concerned the French President’s requirement that the French Council of Muslim Worship come up with a plan for regulating the training of imams in France and removing foreign influences from the process.

The consensus seems to be that Mr. Macron is trying to poach some support from Marine Le Pen of National Rally, who would probably win the next presidential election if it were held today. With every incident of deadly violence that escapes the banlieues and impacts the lives of ordinary native French people, the more voters turn to Ms. Le Pen.

Emmanuel Macron may have a vestigial sense of French identity and culture, but he is clearly an opportunist. In his lofty position as head of state, he can hardly be unaware of the dire peril that Islamization poses to the French state. In my opinion — which is not based on statistics, since the French government has for many years prohibited the collecting of statistics on ethnicity and religion in France — the country has already passed the point of no return. France will become an Islamic republic within a generation at most.

If Mr. Macron and his handlers are aware of these facts — and one must assume they are — then they are simply maneuvering to give themselves the best possible positions of advantage during the rapidly dwindling time in which non-Muslims retain control of the French government. And, as someone pointed out in the comments, the president may well be keeping an eye on the military, which has its own agenda concerning Islamic violence.

I’ve been watching the careers of Emmanuel Macron, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, and British Prime Minister Boris “BoJo” Johnson since long before they achieved daily prominence in the news headlines. Despite their widely differing personalities and styles, they seemed to be cut from the same political cloth: ambitious, unprincipled, unscrupulous men who would do whatever it took to achieve and maintain their positions of power.

Viktor Orbán: The Rebellion Against Liberal Spiritual Oppression

For the last few years, in the late summer Gates of Vienna readers could expect to see a subtitled video of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s annual “state of the nation” speech. Mr. Orbán customarily makes his remarks each year at the Bálványos Summer Open University and Student Camp in Tusnádfürdő (Băile Tuşnad), in the ethnic Hungarian region of western Romania. However, this year COVID-19 reared its ugly head, forcing the prime minister to write an essay instead.

Many thanks to CrossWare for translating this piece from Magyar Nemzet.

Together we will succeed again!

by Viktor Orbán

There is no Tusnádfürdo [site of the annual workshop of the Bálványos Free Summer University]. There is no Kötcse [site of annual Civic Picnic]. There is no transit (traffic). There is an epidemic. The virus has also decimated summer meetings of workshops on political thinking. And there would be something to think about and discuss. Something and in some manner which would be impossible in the parliamentarian jostle and inside the frames of modern communication. So what remains is writing instead of speaking, an essay instead of a lecture.

Illiberal, conservative, Christian Democrat, liberal. Our struggle for intellectual sovereignty and intellectual freedom, which was launched years ago in Tusnád(fürdo), is slowly coming to fruition. Political correctness, that is, the rebellion against the classical liberal doctrines — ways of speaking, and dictates on style — is expanding. More and more people courageously step out of the stall of the already stiflingly narrow single correct way of speaking, the only correct concept of democracy, the only correct interpretation of Europe and the West. The attempt to escape is not easy in itself; the risk of punishment is significant. Expulsion from academic life, job loss, stigma, running the university gauntlet — examples are slowly becoming commonplace. But even if we manage to get over the well-paid and round-the-clock watching knee-jerk liberal* border guards, we also have to deal with the deep-seated reflexes of any well-meaning audience. Despite the sophistication of reasoning, the praise of nationalism shakes the German stomach, even if it was written by Professor Hazony from Jerusalem. And no matter what velvety tone we use to talk about illiberal democracy, it sounds awful to German and Anglo-Saxon ears. Even today.

The rebellion against liberal spiritual oppression is not only widening, but also deepening. There are more and more compelling essays; thorough studies and inevitable monographs come to light. Even if they don’t confess it in the Brussels bubble, we can already see that the emperor is naked. The doctrine of ‘democracy can only be liberal’, the untouchable idol, the big fetish has fallen, we just have to wait for the stirred-up cloud of dust to settle, and then we will not only know, but see. It seems that conservative and Christian Democratic parties, political movements can escape the life-threatening embrace of liberals. “There’s no such thing as an illiberal democracy,” and similar sentences are now being recorded in the book of political nonsense, no matter where they come from. Conservative political thinkers have finally summoned up the courage to justify, by outlining with the elegance of mathematical proofs, that liberalism and conservatism represent two opposing positions in political theory. They have shown that the arguments of those who want to shove conservatism under the big umbrella of liberalism are wrong. Those who argue that the separation of powers, civil and political freedoms, the protection of private property and constrained governance — that is, the rule of law — can only be conceived within the spiritual framework of liberalism and only through the means of liberal democracy, they are wrong to stick to this benevolent explanation. Of course, we also know Hungarians who have solved this task in the past, but have realized, how much more pleasant it is to collect appreciative shrugs in Brussels, accompanied by the gentle smiles of lukewarm liberal salons, than to squeal like a black lamb at home in Budapest. That little nauseating bad feeling there in the region of the stomach doesn’t even seem like such a big price. Although today the temperature, furniture and elegance of Central European salons are less and less behind the Western ones, not to mention the cuisine. Crawling back will soon begin. As happened from Moscow once upon a time.

Today’s confusion of conservatism and liberalism can be traced back to the fact that in the great battles against totalitarianism, conservatives and liberals set aside their essential and then still obvious differences. They set them aside and made an alliance against the common enemy. An alliance against Nazism and Communism, Nazis and Communists. It was a long, centuries-long struggle, and the severity of the Allies’ thoughts, arguments, and fundamentals became apparent only when the Alliance lost its meaning with the fall of the Berlin Wall in the West and the withdrawal of the Soviets in the East.

Politicians, journalists, and even scholars easily alternate between conservative and liberal ideas and concepts. For a long time — too long, about two decades — it seemed that there was nothing wrong with that; even if it was intellectually inaccurate and remiss, no serious damage came from it. This was also thought by the Anglo-Saxon conservatives and the European Christian Democrats. However, the situation has now changed. Things have gotten serious. What used to seem like a slight mental defect, poor posture, a tolerable disorder, now prevents us from seeing clearly on important issues. It obscures the fact that the biggest challenge and opponent for conservatives and Christian Democrats today and again is liberalism and liberals. The principles of Christian Democrat and Liberal thinking are in stark contrast, and in the crosshairs of Liberal attacks are all that is most important to us: the cornerstones of the desired political order, the center of the Conservative-Christian Democratic tradition, religion, family.

The recognition that, if it goes on like this, Christian-Conservative forces will assist in weakening nations, eradicating religious traditions, and downgrading, mocking the family, here in Central Europe, has risen to the level of public and state politics. Here the red light came on, here we applied the emergency brake, and here, mainly in Poland and Hungary, we sounded the alarm bells. There was enough force here to pull back the European political home of the Christian Democrats and Conservatives, the European People’s Party, from the edge of the abyss. There was enough instinct and volume here to say that we could not risk the future of European Christian democracy for the sake of an understandable German demand for the Brussels coalition party to have its pattern to coincide with Berlin’s, as this is the easiest way to create harmony between the two centers of power.

So if the Christian Democrats enter the coalition with the left in Berlin, so should the EPP in the European Parliament. If we follow this trail, after the German elections, we can also get to know the beauties of the EPP and the coalition with the Greens, as it has already been already “tasted” in the laboratory in Vienna.

In Central Europe, however, not only good taste is rebelling against the idea of such perversion, but also common sense. The differences between liberal and Christian Democratic political theory are important not only in the world of university departments. They also have serious practical political consequences.

Liberals, for philosophical reasons going back to Kant — which I will not detail here — believe that every country, even those that are governed today as a non-liberal democracy, should be forced to accept this form of government. Christian Democrats, on the other hand, reject such a foreign policy because they believe that societies are held together in different ways and in peace. As the Arab Spring recently proved, liberal democracy can bring collapse and chaos, causing more harm than good. That is why we also support Donald Trump’s victory, because we are well aware of the foreign policy of American democratic governments based on moral imperialism. We were forced to taste it, but it didn’t taste good, so we don’t ask for a repeat.

Our policies are also intertwined on that topic, which is commonly referred to as “subsidiarity” in Brussels. Liberals say it is good to transfer as many national governmental powers as possible to international organizations. That is why they clap their hands politely; that is why vision is veiled and the heart beats faster when any international organization is given a new competence, a task and, of course, a horse and a weapon, as this gives universal ideas — European values, universal human rights — more encouragement and recognition.

However, the enthusiasm of Christian Democrats is less bubbly, because they see that such organizations are inevitably prone to arbitrariness, which those organizations tend to call the “rule of law”, which is merely a rule of blackmail, vulnerable to Soros’ network-like intrusion attempts, and if choices have to be made between the citizens of national communities and the big dogs of global capitals, in the end they always choose the latter. The citizens of European nations soon realized that today’s European institutions did not serve them, but the interests of George Soros and his ilk. They refuse to swallow the BS of Brussels, that a financial speculator, enriched by the destruction of others, is lurking in the corridors of Brussels to offer his selfless help to Europe.

The Treaty of Trianon, One Hundred Years Later

Suleiman

The Treaty of Trianon, which dismembered the state of Hungary after the Great War, came into force exactly one hundred years ago today. Hungary and the Western Allies signed the instrument at the Grand Trianon Palace in Versailles; hence its name.

Hungary ended up losing two-thirds of its territory under the terms of the treaty, which stranded more than 40% of its population outside the borders of Hungary without anyone having to move.

Our Hungarian correspondent CrossWare has translated the following essay about the Treaty of Trianon, which relates Trianon to the earlier Muslim invasion, from the conservative portal PestiSracok.hu:

Suleiman was also present at the Trianon execution attempt

Like when a man is beaten down with bat, so was the Trianon peace dictatorship: he falls to his knees, the world spins around him, and he doesn’t even understand what happened to him. To date, we have not recovered from it, either as a country or as a people. Those who demand that we at last leave this Trianon problem behind us and deal instead with the future do not take note of reality, because the past cannot be left behind unfinished. Trianon itself is a good example of this, as it has not fallen into our head without antecedents. Even a hundred years ago, the unprocessed past, our own omissions, and the fruits of the trickery of our enemies ripened together.

In today’s eyes it is almost inconceivable that Hungary came to the end of the Middle Ages as a sparingly stable and unified country, one of the leading powers in Europe. Even if the nobles and lords intervened at times in the king’s affairs and were able to stir up internal strife, no one could question the existence of a unified royal power. The kingdom had serious reserves of power, and was rich in precious metals, ores, and salt, not to mention food. Hungary had one and a half times as many inhabitants as England or Poland, two and a half times as many as the Czech Republic, and we had a decisive influence on the life of Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. There was no mention of a united Germany and Italy at that time; France was working on the creation of a centralized kingdom, just as a similar process took place in Spain after the success of the Reconquista. Besides ourselves, the latter two states were real military powers in that era.

It may even be considered a vagary of fate that in the immediate vicinity of this Hungary, which was a great power in all respects, the Ottoman Empire, which surpassed the strength of all European countries, had arisen. To this day there is no consensus among historians as to whether we would have been able to defend ourselves, but if we had, it would have required unparalleled self-discipline and conscious unity for two centuries from the king, nobles, and serfs. We lost the inevitable clash, but the Turks did not have enough strength to swallow our entire country. Thus, we did not sink into the Balkans (Transylvania, Partium and the South, after Trianon), but in terms of population, nothing worse could have happened to us. For two centuries our country became a battleground, with marches of the ever-increasing Ottoman, Habsburg, and Transylvanian armies regularly passing through our territory, requisitioning the peasantry that remained after taxation and double taxation. And if only they had just taken the taxes!

We Have Suffered a Disastrous Destruction

The Ottoman looting of the rural populations was accompanied by a significant extinction of the population and the destruction of the settlement structure. The whole countryside was depopulated, and many villages disappeared forever. If we look at the map of present-day Hungary, we can see that there are still only rare settlements in the Great Plain. During the uncertain period of occupation, instead of defenseless villages, people concentrated in a few swollen market towns and settled on large-scale animal husbandry, which was more sustainable in terms of possible escape, rather than farming. For this reason, there are settlements with a larger population and sparsely populated areas in the Great Plain, and the instances of single standalone farms are also rooted in this fact. But the Hungarian population remained at least partially here.

Hungary’s settlement density — the footprint of the Ottoman Turks is still visible today (source: terport.hu)

Muslim conquerors killed a large number of people and drove the enslaved Hungarians in endless columns to Istanbul and then sold them to various corners of the empire. During the Turkish conquest of 1521-1568, the Fifteen Years’ War of 1591-1606, the Austro-Turkish War of 1663-1664, and the expulsion of the Turks between 1683 and 1699, we suffered immeasurable horrors, probably the most brutal genocide in Europe in the last thousand years. At that time the Hungarians of Szerémség disappeared from the Hungarian majority of Temesköz, but by the end of the Turkish expulsion, the Hungarian population of Baranya, Tolna, Somogy counties and Partium had largely disappeared. These flat areas were the main terrain of the movements, so their populations became extinct, which in the vast majority of cases meant the Hungarian population.

Fleeing Syrian Brain Surgeons on the Rampage

During the Great Migration Crisis of 2015, Hungary built a fence along its southern border to keep the invaders out. Migrants who wanted asylum were required to enter through the official border crossings and apply for asylum before they could proceed any further. The government built facilities in the “transit zones” to house the migrants while they waited for a response to their asylum applications, a place where they could stay on a completely voluntary basis. They were free to return by the same route they came whenever they wanted.

The European Union recently ruled that the migrant housing in these transit zones constituted “illegal detention”. As reported in the news feed a few days ago, Hungary responded by closing the transit zones, and from now on will require migrants to file their asylum applications at a Hungarian consulate outside the country.

In the wake of the clearing of the transit zone housing, it became evident that the culture-enrichers had fouled the nest that the Hungarian government had supplied for them. Their behavior suggests a new meaning for the word “refusenik”.

Many thanks to CrossWare for translating this brief article from the Pestisracok.hu conservative portal:

Unbelievable destruction in the transit zone by “the fleeing Syrian brain surgeons”

Following a recent political ruling by the European Court of Justice, the Hungarian government ordered the immediate evacuation of transit zones at the southern border. In addition to the stricter immigration administration rules that came into force, those already in the transit zone were transported to refugee camps in the country, but after their departure, dramatic footage was captured of the destruction by “war refugees” in the Röszke transit zone. In connection with the startling pictures, it is worth mentioning that the scattered, shattered objects had arrived there both through the Hungarian state and from various aid organizations.

Béla Go Home!

Béla Go Home!

by CrossWare

Béla is a Hungarian given name, made famous in the USA by Béla Lugosi, the actor who portrayed Dracula. (As a matter of interest, Béla Lugosi was born in Hungary, but his hometown is now part of Romania.)

A direct translation of the meme shown at the top of this post:

This is Béla.

If Béla wants to enter my apartment, but I do not want to let him in, and I say to him: “Hey, you, Béla, why don’t you go home to your stinkin’ whore of a mother?!”, then the European Court says I arrested Béla.

Please do not be a “Béla” or a “European Court”!

Prelude:

A long-standing grudge is held by EU bureaucrats against the ingenious solution implemented by the Hungarian government, which erected a border fence and built “transit zones” along the southern border of Hungary.

The transit zone is built inside Hungarian territory, just like the fence, which was built three meters into Hungarian territory to avoid international incidents. The transit zones consist of some buildings along the fence, where the migrants may request asylum. While their papers are being processed they can stay, they are fed, and if they become bored, they can return to Serbia without a second thought.

Of course, most asylum applications are rejected, mostly because Hungary is not the first European country the migrants have entered. These “people” (we just lovingly call them: “invading horde”) waltzed through multiple countries before arriving at our borders. Obviously this solution hurts the EU leadership, because they would like nothing more than to replace the original population as soon as possible.

Now the European Court has come out with a verdict stating exactly what the meme phrased rather elegantly. The transit zone, which the nomadic invaders may enter and leave at will, is a “terrible prison”, where there is no escape… Run, people, run! And somebody please think of the children (Helen Lovejoy, The Simpsons):

From the TutiBlog, part of the pestisracok.hu conservative portal:

Big changes, of course, never happen overnight. Nor did the age of discovery and European exodus begin when Columbus stumbled upon the American continent in 1492; it was preceded by the establishment of African ports, the boom in Indian trade bypassing the Middle East conquered by the Turks, and thus the development of European shipping in general. Yet the descendants of Europe may be tied to today’s descendants when they analyze how they managed to create a frustrated, poor madman from the most developed and happiest continent.

The European Court of Justice has ruled according to the logic of the opening image. Reality doesn’t matter, just ideology. Decades of active undermining by the crazed social engineers, the occupation of universities, culture, and the courts have matured into this madness. Just as it doesn’t matter who has what between her legs, even if she has a [manly appendage], it doesn’t matter to members of the European Court of Justice that a fence cannot be a prison for someone who is outside it.

According to the European Court of Justice, if we do not allow someone into the country, but he crouches in the corner and does not go anywhere, it is considered detention.

Poland, PiS and the Liberal West

Our Polish correspondent Green Infidel sends this overview of the relentless pressure on Poland to adopt a progressive stance on issues such as immigration, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.

Poland, PiS and the Liberal West

by Green Infidel

In the Autumn of 2015, the Polish party PiS (“Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc”, or “Law and Justice”) won a historic election victory — becoming the first party to win an election outright since the downfall of Communism in 1989. Such a victory came on the back of the presidential election five months earlier, which was also won by the PiS candidate Andrzej Duda. Both victories would have been hard to predict a year earlier, and in both cases a strong factor was disillusionment with the pro-EU government of the PO party (“Platforma Obywatelska” or “Civic Platform”) led by Donald Tusk, who left the post of Prime Minister at the end of 2014 to become President of the European Council in Brussels (thanks to which, he was famously described by Nigel Farage as the “newest Polish émigré”). After Tusk’s departure, the PO party became weaker, and the new prime minister Ewa Kopacz faced accusations about her government’s becoming out of touch.

This feeling increased after the events of Summer 2015, when her government voted in favour of an EU mechanism to redistribute migrants among member states, after promising many times to reject it. This decision proved very unpopular with the Polish public, fearful of the possibility of large-scale migration from Islamic countries, partly out of prejudice, but also in large part because of the experiences of Polish émigrés in countries such as the UK (among whom the most popular party in the October 2015 elections was the even more anti-immigration Kukiz ’15 party, and the pro-immigration PO party only took fourth place). The feeling among Poles against Islamic immigration was so intense and so unanimous, especially on the internet, that in September 2015 the leading liberal newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza took the decision to close its comments on articles related to the migration crisis.

The leader of PiS, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, has always been one of the most polarising figures in Polish politics, perceived as desirous of power at any cost, and drawing the ire of the urban elite with numerous statements perceived as insulting, rude or arrogant. Before the October 2015 election, however, he drew himself apart from leaders in the Polish political mainstream by condemning the PO government for agreeing to the “refugee” quotas, and for saying PiS would reject them. Perhaps this became the catalyst for his party’s subsequent historic election victory.

Since that time, the Polish government has united with the governments of the other Visegrad countries (Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia) on the subject of migration, and often drew the ire of Brussels in rejecting the “refugee” quotas.

This was, however, only part of the story. By 2016 the Polish economy was booming, and for the first time ever employers were struggling to find new employees. This resulted in a record number of immigrants, and by 2017, Poland issued the highest number of first-residence permits in the whole of the EU, 683,000). In reality, a large majority of the newcomers came from Ukraine, perhaps due to the terrible economic situation of that country, while the second-largest number of immigrants came from Belarus. Many Poles find it fortunate that the immigrants are mostly from these countries which border Poland and, despite some historic animosities, share a very similar culture with Poles.

Nonetheless, many immigrants have also been drawn from further afield, especially from India. So much so that in 2018, long queues for visas were reported in front of the Polish consulate in New Delhi. And the results can be seen on the streets of big cities such as Warsaw, where chains like Uber Eats employ delivery drivers, seemingly exclusively from the Indian subcontinent. At the same time, universities were putting more effort into “urgently” searching for more foreign students, with the Ministry of Further Education allowing students to apply for more grants, to attempt to entice them.
