All in the Family
I’ll be involved in family activities all weekend. I won’t actually be away from home all the time, but I may not be spending much time at this computer. So posting will be light, and the news feed may or may not happen, depending on the course of events.
Normal programming will resume on Monday evening. Between now and then, Dymphna will be moderating comments, when she’s up to it.
Gates of Vienna News Feed 4/28/2017
As tensions continue to rise concerning North Korea’s nuclear weapons, another missile test by the Hermit Kingdom has failed. Today’s effort reportedly blew up not long after launch, without ever leaving North Korean territory.
In other news, a fifth victim of the April 7 truck jihad in Stockholm has died of her wounds. Meanwhile, a fifth “Ohioan” has been arrested for attempting to help the Islamic State.

Real Crime, Fake News on German Crime Statistics
The following video features a press conference held by German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière in which he summarizes the country’s crime statistics for 2016. Mr. de Maizière does his best to spin the facts in such a way that the “refugees” don’t end up looking quite so criminal, but he can’t completely hide the reality of the numbers. To mitigate all those embarrassing un-PC statistics, he makes a point of emphasizing politically motivated right-wing crime as an important component of the report.

Below is an essay from Vera Lengsfeld’s website that discusses Mr. de Maizière’s press conference and his statistics. Many thanks to Nash Montana for the translation:
Fake News at the Presentation of Crime Stats?
Recently Interior Minister de Maizière presented Germany’s crime statistics for 2016, and he found himself unable to avoid admitting a few unpleasant facts. Of an allegedly almost identical total of criminal acts, wherein illegal immigration remarkably was not mentioned, the number of violent crimes has risen drastically. 18 attempted homicides committed by rightwing motivated persons — for instance when a migrant was pushed on train tracks. Homicide and manslaughter saw an increase of 14.3 percent; rape and sexual coercion saw a surge of 12.8 percent.
De Maizière tried to play down the issue that most of the migrants are young men who are more prone to commit crimes. Just why these young men were brought into the country the Minister didn’t explain, of course. Instead he spoke of a “coarsening” of society, without uttering a single word about the source or the reason for this coarsening. That, one had to figure out himself by listening between the lines. Mind you, though, it was acknowledged that there is a problem with the criminality of migrants. However, we should relax, since only 1% of the migrants are so-called ‘intensive offenders’ who commit 40% of all migrant crime.
Leftist extremist crime also had to be acknowledged, especially since a rise in crime against politicians is to be expected during election year. However not a word was uttered that the large majority of these crimes against politicians targeted members of the AfD.
According to information from de Maizière, there was a rise in right-wing extremist crime. They are now measuring up equally to left-wing extremist crime. One would liked to learn more concrete details about this, for instance if those swastika graffiti that were painted by leftwing extremists or by migrants, were simply allocated to right-wing extremist criminal activities. Such as in Brandenburg where unexplained criminal activities are simply allocated into the right-wing extremism statistics.
In order to illustrate the worrisome development of rightwing extremism, the Minister named 18 allegedly right-wing oriented attempted homicides, for instance as already mentioned, when a migrant was pushed onto the train tracks.
At this point I can only ask myself if I might have missed some crucial information. I’ve never heard of migrants who were “pushed onto train rails”. Even a search on Google brought up nothing.
It may be due to my lack of skills that I came up with only two results: At a Berlin subway station unknown subjects pushed a man onto the rails. But they were described as “Arab-looking”. And in Dresden two asylum seekers pushed a man onto rails and then kept him down by kicking him despite the incoming train. But the public prosecutor did not investigate attempted homicide in this case, merely bodily injury and interference with public transportation.
Interesting in this context as well is the blocking practice of our quality media. One of our readers, J.B., wanted to comment on de Maizière and the crime statistics at Die Welt. The comment wasn’t approved. Here’s the comment:
“So, Herr Minister of the Interior. I have taken it upon myself to work out the crime statistics numbers since 2010. The result:
How Dare He Equate the Islamic State With Radical Islam?
A French opinion writer named Ivan Rioufol got himself into a heap o’ trouble by referring to Muslims who adhere to fundamentalist or Salafist positions as supporters of the “ideology of the Islamic State”.
That seems to me to be an accurately-phrased assertion of equivalence. But the bien-pensants who are in charge of French political culture do not agree. Mr. Rioufol is now under investigation, and may be subject to a criminal procedure.
Below is a brief video of Ivan Rioufol’s sinful utterance. Many thanks to Ava Lon for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

Muslims: CSA [Superior Council of Audiovisual] investigates case against Ivan Rioufol of Figaro
by Magazine Marianne
April 26, 2017Ivan Rioufol, an editorialist for Le Figaro, affirmed on April 21 on CNews that “27% of French Muslims claimed the ideology of the Islamic State”.
The CSA said on Tuesday (April 25th) that it had opened a file on the remarks by Ivan Rioufol, an editorialist for Le Figaro, made on CNews last Friday. As a guest on the show “L’heure des pros”, presented by Pascal Praud, the polemicist quoted a poll from the Institut Montaigne demonstrating — according to him — that “27% of French Muslims claimed the ideology of the” Islamic State, and 50% of the young Muslims of the suburban neighborhoods.” The audiovisual authority has received about 40 reports, as revealed by Buzzfeed, while the replay of the show is not available on the CNews website.
At AFP, Ivan Rioufol denounces an “intimidation” that would be “exploited by a religious minority”. “To say that 50% of young Muslims have a practice of Islam” that is fundamentalist “and” adopted a system of values clearly opposed to the values of the Republic “is a fact noted in this study of the Montaigne Institute,” he affirms. “To bring it closer to the ideology of the Islamic State that applies sharia is a matter of my freedom to comment.”
In fact, Ivan Rioufol did indeed benefit to a large extent from his “freedom of comment”. The poll he quoted on CNews, was conducted by Ifop on behalf of the very liberal Institut Montaigne, and was published in September 2016 by the Sunday Journal. It divides the Muslim population living in France into three categories: 46% are “secularized”, totally secular; 25% have “Islamic pride”, being defined above all as Muslim and proud of the public expression of their religion; and 28% of the “Ultras” living in breach of republican values, polled in favor of the wearing of niqab or burqa and polygamy. The latter group is overrepresented among young people, as 50% of Muslims under 25 years of age are members of the group, according to the study.
It is thus to these 28% of Muslims that Ivan Rioufol reproaches with claim “of the ideology of the Islamic State”. Yet, the panel of respondents “was not questioned on Daesh,” said the Institut Montaigne on Twitter on Tuesday. “In no case can the findings of our inquiry feed your comments,” the think tank added to the attention of the editorial writer.
Translation of Twitter messages:
Institute Montaigne: @ivanrioufol You said that 50% of the young people in the cities cling to the ideology of the Islamic State
Institute Montaigne: @ivanrioufol In any case, the conclusions of our investigation cannot support your remarks.

A man carrying a rucksack full of kitchen knives was stopped by police and arrested near the Houses of Parliament in London today. It is thought that the man was planning a large banquet for which he needed to slice a lot of fruit, or he may have been a circus performer who juggles knives to entertain children, and was arrested by racist police.
In other news, a Russian military reconnaissance ship sank in the Black Sea after colliding with a freighter carrying livestock.

Viktor Orbán: “Our vision of Europe is to build on strong nations in a strong Europe”
A few days ago the European Union, acting via the European Commission, initiated legal action against Hungary for passing legislation that might effectively prevent the Central European University in Budapest from handing out any more diplomas. The CEU is George Soros’ operation, and Mr. Soros was not happy with the revised Hungarian law. He told the European Commission to jump, and it said: “Yessir! How high?”
Yesterday Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited the European Parliament and laid out Hungary’s position on the CEU and other contentious issues. He emphatically declared that George Soros is hostile to Europe and the euro. He insisted that the EU must abide by its own regulations and the treaties that comprise its legal basis, which all member states have agreed to.

Twice as many migrants — 700,000 — were granted asylum in the EU in 2016 compared with the previous year. And those are just the legally recorded asylees — there are no official estimates of the number of migrants who have come to Europe and remain there illegally “off the books”.
Meanwhile, according to the latest opinion poll, 52% of Swedes favor reducing the number of asylum seekers allowed into the country, while 26% oppose the idea.
In other news, police in New South Wales are planning a new anti-terror unit that will identify and intervene with vulnerable individuals who may be prone to radicalization. The new unit will pay special attention to people who have mental health issues.

Austrian Women: Wear the Hijab to Show Your Solidarity for Women’s Rights!
In the Austrian presidential election almost a year ago, the Green candidate Alexander van der Bellen defeated Norbert Hofer of the FPÖ (Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs, Austrian Freedom Party). After investigators discovered, ahem, irregularities in the postal votes, the run-off was rescheduled for later in the year. Mr. Van der Bellen won again, and became the president of Austria.
The new president caused a stir recently when he talked about a woman’s right to wear hijab. His reaction to criticism was even more controversial, as you will see. But first a brief report from the Austrian state broadcaster ORF. Many thanks to Egri Nök for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:
We don’t have a full translation yet, but the gist of Pres. Van der Bellen’s response to his critics is that he was highlighting the oppression of veiled women, whose garments he compared with the forced wearing of the yellow Star of David by Jews during Nazi times.
Now, that’s weird enough. I thought we were supposed to be showing solidarity with women who choose to wear hijab! Did the Jews wear the yellow star as a free choice? Are hijab-wearing women being persecuted? The analogy is ludicrous and incoherent.
To top it all off, he compared what he was advocating to the Danes’ wearing of the yellow star during the war in solidarity with Danish Jews. Not only is the comparison inapt, but the Danish story is a myth — a pleasant, heart-warming story, but a myth nonetheless — it didn’t happen.
Such is the current president of Austria.

Interviews With Microcephalic Macron Supporters
Emmanuel Macron is the pretty-boy socialist candidate that Marine Le Pen will face in the run-off of the French presidential election. He is being widely touted as France’s Obama, and the following video will give you an idea of why the characterization is apt.
During Barack Hussein Obama’s first campaign for president back in 2008, do you remember some of the interviews with his supporters that revealed how clueless, uninformed, ignorant, and intellectually challenged they were? Well, voilà! Listen to some of the Gallic geniuses who support Emmanuel Macron.

What the AfD Did in Wonderland
The recent AfD (Alternative für Deutschland, Alternative for Germany) convention resulted in a shakeup in the party leadership. JLH has compiled a selection of German media reports on last weekend’s events, and includes some explanatory notes.
or
How Frauke Petry Was Changed From Alice to the White Rabbit
Compiled by JLH
After Frauke Petry and her allies in the AfD unsuccessfully argued for Björn Höcke to be ejected from the party because of his “monument of shame” comment in a speech in Thuringia, Höcke promised not to run for the Bundestag in the national election, but said he would stay in the party and campaign energetically in his home base of Thuringia. So the convention proceeded without him, but not without his political presence and very much with his political protector, Alexander Gauland.
Stern magazine tells us on Saturday:
It is devastating enough for Petry, the party chief, that the party does not even choose to pursue the strategy debate she initiated, but by majority vote decides it to be irrelevant. Then it gets worse. Jörg Meuthen [her co-leader] gives a speech that rocks the hall and propels the delegates from their seats. The speech is punctuated by poison darts aimed at Petry. Sitting only feet away, she is forced to hear her own demolition, presented with rhetorical mastery.
First, Meuthen invokes the danger that the Federal Republic is “on the way to [being] a Muslim imprinted country.” Then he cries, “Germany is our land! It is the land of our parents and grandparents, and it is our civic duty to re-conquer it!” Thundering applause and cries of “Meuthen! Meuthen! Meuthen!” Then he directs an attack at Merkel, Schulz and Company, which is simultaneously an attack on Petry’s coalition strategy: “We can no longer put up with these types! And I don’t mean just basic opposition. We will not enter into any coalition with these types. We are becoming a super strong opposition. That’s how we roll!”
That was Saturday, the first day of the convention. Sunday brings further developments — some predictable, some surprising.
As the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung tells us:
The AfD has chosen Alexander Gauland and Alice Weidel as its lead candidates. Not many outside of Baden-Württemberg know Weidel. Until now, she has spoken out most on economic subjects. The AfD intends to enter the Bundestag behind this team.
Alice Weidel has not been so publicly prominent as her party colleagues, Frauke Petty and Beatrix von Storch… She belongs to the politically moderate wing of her party, but has been extremely sharp in her attacks on Angela Merkel, targeting especially her asylum policy, which breaches international agreements. Weidel is also against health insurance for asylum applicants and what she regards as “naïve treatment” of Islamic hate-preachers. She also warns of overblown expectations of the integration of refugees into the labor force.
Weidel, who favors black pantsuits and white blouses. has a lifestyle that does not fit the cliché of a conservative party. She lives with her [female] life partner and their 4-year-old son on the shore of Lake Constance. She does not have much time for her family. As an economics major and [the equivalent of] an MBA and a doctorate, she counsels start-up enterprises worldwide. After years abroad in Asia with a focus on China, as well as in Europe and the United States, she speaks Mandarin…
As Die Welt tells us,
She rejects the rhetoric of the Höcke wing. Unlike the rightist nationalists, who advocate a “net emigration of foreigners,” Weidel favors a “guided, qualified immigration,” but is also against a “policy of open borders which attracts, above all, poor Muslim immigrants with no qualifications.”
But, as Bild informs us:

More Culture-Enriching Hospital Rapes, This Time in Hamburg
Modern Multicultural Germany is so insane, so unfathomably nuts, that I have trouble taking it in. Read the following article from Die Welt and see for yourself.
Many thanks to Egri Nök for the translation:
Hamburg: Assault in Hospital
Man allegedly molested 15-year-oldApril 25, 2017
A 29-year-old man allegedly invaded several hospital rooms. One woman managed to persuade him to leave her room. But he surprised a girl in her sleep.
The police of Hamburg have provisionally arrested a 29-year-old Afghan, who is suspected to have performed sexual acts in a patient room in the hospital St. Georg on a 15-year-old patient.
The man had been taken to the hospital’s A&E due to his alcohol poisoning. There, in an unsupervised moment, he gained entrance to a ward and entered the room of a 57-year-old woman. But she woke up and talked to the 29-year-old and got him to leave her room. After that the 29-year-old entered the room of the sleeping 15-year-old and performed sexual acts on her. She yelled for help loudly, so he let go of her and initially fled.
Shortly thereafter he was stopped and detained by security. Police, who had been called in the meantime, temporarily arrested the suspect. The incident actually occurred last Saturday, but was only made public on Tuesday by a police announcement. After taking his personal data, he was released for lack of reasons for arrest.
