Sweden: The Policeman Who Dared to Speak Out

Our Swedish correspondent Svenne Tvaerskaegg sends this report on Peter Springare, the whistle-blowing cop whose statements of fact about the results of Multiculturalism have prompted a new wave of repression by the authorities.

Sweden: The policeman who dared to speak out

by Svenne Tvaerskaegg

In 1975 the Swedish parliament decided the quiet, peaceful and culturally homogeneous Nordic country with one of the highest standards of living in the world wasn’t good enough as it was, and voted unanimously to transform Sweden into a multicultural society. The borders were opened to massive immigration from some of the most backward and violent countries in the in the Middle East and North Africa. Over the following decades the immigrants began to arrive, a trickle at first but gradually accelerating to become a veritable tsunami today. And with the immigrants came alienation and crime. Ghettos where Swedish law no longer applies formed round all the major cities. Middle Eastern and North African clans and criminal gangs rule in these lawless areas, and Swedish authorities enter at their own risk. Even the fire brigade and ambulance services answering emergency calls dare not enter without a heavy police escort.[1] In Stockholm police have said they are “on their knees” before the waves of muggings, assaults and rapes that are now spilling out from the ghettos and into ethnic Swedish areas, a development that is repeated in cities all over Sweden.[2]

Between this criminal anarchy and what is left of ethnic Sweden stands the Swedish police force, undermanned, overstretched and under attack. And not only from the immigrant gangs who throw stones, bottles and even hand grenades at them: ordinary policemen and women on the ground have their own leadership arrayed against them too. In the postmodern and ultra-politically correct Sweden of today, the dogmas of diversity and multiculturalism still rule amongst political, social and media elites, despite the very hard knocks they have been taking of late. It is impossible for anyone to advance in many professions unless they are considered “sound” and enthusiastically embrace postmodern doctrines. Deviation from the official ideology of “värdegrunden”, translated as “basic values”, can even result in your getting fired from your job.[3] The police force is not immune to the postmodernism that infects Swedish society and the pressure to keep quiet and conform. This has lead to ever-increasing tension between the higher and career-minded administrative functionaries physically and ideologically isolated in their comfortable offices in the upscale areas of city centers far from the crime infested ghettos and ordinary police officers struggling on the front line.

Despite the risk to job and livelihood in speaking out, early last year one police officer in the city of Örebro broke the silence. Peter Springare is a preliminary investigator whose primary task is analyzing crime data, and as he carried out his daily duties he noticed one unsettling fact that stood glaringly out. In the overwhelming majority of crime reports that passed by his desk, the perpetrators had Middle Eastern and African names. Even more worrying was the gross over-representation of those names in sexual crimes and crimes of violence. Despite the fact that people of Middle Eastern and North African origin were a minority in Örebro, they were committing by far most of the crime. Peter Springare took the radical and dangerous step of posting his findings on Facebook.

Immediately a storm broke out. Peter Springare’s Facebook page attracted thousands of comments supporting him, including many from policemen all over the country who said they were buckling under the load of fighting immigration-driven crime. Instead of taking his concerns seriously, the police leadership were horrified by this policeman’s breaking rank, and responded by trying to silence him. They reported him to the public prosecutor for a suspected hate crime, but after due consideration the prosecutor’s office couldn’t find any legal grounds for a successful prosecution. The police leadership then tried to have him charged with committing a data-secrecy offense but the prosecutors couldn’t find any grounds for prosecuting that, either. Since then the authorities have been watching Peter Springer very closely, but they have not been able to stop him.

Hopeful Medical News

Our relative (the one who had the bad car accident) started talking yesterday. I wasn’t there when it happened; I visited him today. He slept the whole time I was there, so I didn’t hear him talk. But it was real, restful sleep, not the twilight sleep we were seeing before.

He’s in a different ward, and he no longer has a tube up his nose. His hands were out of the “mittens” when I saw him. In addition to a nurse, he has a “companion” who stays with him all the time. The one definite thing the companion told me was that when someone was introduced to him, he said “Nice to meet you,” which shows his brain is working.

He talked to his dad, among other people.

He looked much better this time. I am greatly relieved. It’s only taken two weeks, and that’s not bad, considering the level of trauma. I hope I get to hear him talk next time.

Thank you for all of your prayers.

Identitaires Protest Mosque Construction in Augsburg

The following report by Egri Nök was published last night at Vlad Tepes in a slightly different form.

Germany: Protests Over New Mosque Construction Sites

by Egri Nök

The local press independently reports two apparently unconnected instances of resistance against current mosque construction projects, both in the state of Bavaria, in southern Germany.

Someone in Augsburg spray-painted the facade of an Ahmadiyya mosque construction site with the words:

“Anyone building Churches in Turkey
Germans wake up”,

And in Regensburg, unknown people have erected 26 crosses displaying the names of terror victims on the construction grounds for a planned Turkish Ditib Mosque:

Screenshot Bayerischer Rundfunk

Augsburger Allgemeine report on the spray-painted mosque that

“Raziq Ahmad Tariq, a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jemaat, finds the message behind the graffiti terrible. “It is sad that there is such thinking in Germany.” […] Tariq finds it problematic that people have a wrong impression of Islam. The community wants to provide educational work. He says there are afternoon coffee parties planned. On these occasions, they want to introduce themselves to the people of Augsburg. “We want people to get to know us.”

Tariq, when you will hold these coffee parties to give the good people of Augsburg the right impression of Islam, do mention the barbaric “honor” killings that Ahmadiyya have committed in Germany, will you?

At least Augsburger Allgemeine have the integrity to mention that despite propagating an allegedly peaceful, “true” Islam; “the inner rules are said to be strict, headscarf is mandatory, and gender segregation is strict.”

Peter Springare is in Trouble Again for Talking About Criminal Migrants

A Swedish cop named Peter Springare got in trouble last year for telling the truth on Facebook about the propensity of third-world immigrants for criminality and violence, especially sexual violence. He dodged a bullet that time, but now he’s in trouble again for saying similar things in front of a private audience.

Many thanks to Tania Groth for translating this Swedish news report, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

Below is an article from Breitbart about the Springare case (hat tip Reader from Chicago):

Swedish Whistleblower Cop Put on Notice for Claiming Gang Rape ‘Cultural Phenomenon’ Linked to Mass Migration

Swedish police officer Peter Springare has been reported to police and will likely be investigated after he said the country’s gang rape problem is linked to migration and was a “cultural phenomenon”.

Springare, who gained global attention after blowing the whistle on the extent of migrant crime in Sweden last year commented on the issue of gang rapes earlier this month claiming such attacks were “new” and were a consequence of the last 10 to 15 years of immigration policy, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports.

“There are also ethnic Swedes engaged in group violence, but not in the same numbers as foreign-born offenders,” Springare said. The comments, which were recorded by broadcaster TV4, have since been reported to Bergslagen police who have announced that an internal investigation will likely take place.

The communications manager for the police in Bergslagen confirmed that the report would be passed on to internal investigators and said that Springare’s comments could potentially harm public trust in the police.

Others were far more critical of the remarks with Secretary General of Sweden’s Law Society Anne Ramberg commenting: “It is remarkable. All civil servants and most policymakers must have better judgement and adhere to our form of government and the value base it expresses. These statements are almost racist.”

In Memory of Asma Jehangir

Last Sunday the Pakistani human rights activist Asma Jehangir died at the age of 66. Our expatriate English correspondent Peter wrote the following essay in her memory.

In Memory of Asma Jehangir

by Peter

Asma Jehangir has passed away at the age of 66 after a heart attack. Love her or hate her — and in her native Pakistan there was no shortage of people who did either — she cannot be forgotten. Her supporters proudly declared that she spoke truth to power, while her detractors accused her of being a traitor and anti-Pakistan. During my various visits to Pakistan I can confirm that it is not difficult to be the latter, although she most certainly was not. She gave a voice to those whose opinions were denied, and was a champion of those who were downtrodden and victims of one military dictatorship after another for half of Pakistan’s existence.

I wrote about her in 1999 for a book I have yet to publish, and at the last minute I deleted the following section, and regret doing so. The publication subsequently stalled, but I retained the segment on Asma Jehangir.

My sentiments are those from 1999. They have not changed.

Two women of courage

If evil has been allowed to flourish in Pakistan because ‘good men have done nothing,’ two courageous sisters have chosen to stand up and resist the wholesale injustice that exists in this country, often at no small risk to themselves. Asma Jehangir and Hina Jilani, both well-known lawyers and human rights activists, co-founded AGHS, Pakistan’s first all-woman law firm in Lahore. AGHS has specialised in the pursuit of legal actions on behalf of women and persecuted minorities, a role that has often brought them into conflict with Islamist factions and powerful political interests. In 1991, they set up DASTAK to provide a refuge and legal advice centre for women who had been victims of domestic violence. DASTAK proved to be so successful that by 1996 it had established a board of trustees whose membership included lawyers and civil rights activists such as Abid Hassan Minto, one-time President of the Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association, Arif Nazami and Saleema Hashmi. Since its inception, DASTAK has provided shelter and legal advice to thousands of women and their children. During the time they are resident at the centre, the children are provided with education while the women are given skills training to enable them to earn a living once it is considered safe enough for them to leave. This is not the only function performed by the refuge. They also try to bring about successful reconciliation between family members, and there have been numerous cases where women have been reconciled with their husbands and have been able to return home.

In 1999 DASTAK came in for a considerable amount of hostile criticism from Islamist elements within the Sharif government, and accusations of immorality were made against its female residents, while Asma and Hina themselves were accused by a number of government agencies of abducting and falsely imprisoning the women. The campaign of criticism and falsehood became so bad that on 26 May 1999 Hina Jilani felt obliged to call a conference at the Lahore Press Club in order to answer her accusers. She confirmed to the press that DASTAK had been the victim of a smear campaign by the Sharif government, various quasi-governmental agencies and the influential families of some of the women who had been given assistance. Hina made it clear that no men had ever been granted access to the shelter to meet women, although the women were free to come and go as they pleased. The names of all residents were regularly registered with the authorities, and the Punjab Social Welfare Department had adopted the DASTAK model and commended it as an example to all other women’s refuges operating within its area.

Saint Valentine’s Day

My first blog, The Neighborhood of God, has been defunct for some years now. Occasionally, however, I go back to it to reclaim an essay. This one, on the history of Saint Valentine’s Day, was written in 2006.

If you visit the original, you can see the Baron’s card to me that year. [This year he gave me a Burma Shave card he drew up in his office where mere mortals do not tread.]

During the latter part of the third century A.D., Claudius was Emperor of Rome — Claudius II, that is. In what has to be one of the dumbest edicts ever devised, Claudius decided to outlaw marriage, thinking it would be more efficient to raise troops if he didn’t have to tear them away from their families.

On paper, this decree must have looked good to Claudius, and it’s doubtful anyone was willing to tell him how sand-poundingly stupid his idea really was. After all, what happens when you outlaw normal human behavior? Of course: normal human beings sneak around the corner and do it anyway.

Thus, young couples started showing up at the Bishop’s house — this was in Interamna, now Terni, Italy— asking to be married. The news quickly spread and Valentinus was called before Claudius to explain himself. At the time, Christians were not considered persona grata, so Claudius wanted to deal: if Valentinus would renounce his faith and his bishopric and stop this marriage business he could escape unharmed. Needless to say, Valentinus wasn’t having any.

Claudius ordered the Bishop to be martyred in three stages. I will spare you the details. While awaiting execution, it is said that he fell in love with his jailer’s daughter and that his love cured her blindness.

There are at least two martyrs named Valentinus, so parts of the legend probably have some fact. One of them is buried on the road to Rome, and one of the smaller gates leading into the city was called for many centuries St. Valentine’s Gate. It has some other name now.

Eventually — about 200 hundred years later, a brief period in ecclesial time — Valentinus was canonized. He was made the patron saint of lovers, of epileptics (he perhaps suffered this disorder), and a regular grab bag of other ailments or past times. He is, for example, the patron saint of beekeepers — no doubt because of pressure from the beekeeper’s lobby.

Saint Valentine is not only the patron of lovers; originally he was appealed to as the savior of troubled love. The old people swore he could save marriages. Hmmm…

Maybe when it ceased being Saint Valentine’s Day and just became candy and flowers…maybe then, the divorce rate began to rise?

Dutch Cabinet Got Its First Gash

Below is a report by our Dutch correspondent H. Numan on the latest from the lurid soap opera that is Dutch politics.

Dutch cabinet got its first gash

by H. Numan

The new Dutch cabinet Rutte III dropped its first piece of ballast from its balloon. Or you might say that Zr. Ms. Rutte III got its first big gash. Minister for Foreign Affairs Halbe Zijlstra had to resign.

Who’s Zijlstra, and what did he do? Halbe Zijlstra was the VVD (conservatives) party whip in the cabinets Rutte I and II. He was rewarded for his hard work with a cabinet post, and an important post at that: foreign affairs. The problem was that Zijlstra didn’t have a lot of diplomatic experience and never worked in anything remotely close to ministerial level. So… he made it up.

He claimed he was present a couple of years back during a meeting in a dacha where Vladimir Putin said he wanted a greater Russian Federation. Putin said he wanted the Baltic states back and the Ukraine. Not only that, Kazakhstan would be nice to have too.

A few days ago questions began to surface in the news about the veracity of those words. Zijlstra went on the defense and later on had to admit he made that story up. And became the laughingstock of the country. Lots of memes may be seen on the (Dutch) Internet in which Zijlstra is present at world-famous occasions.

Parliament wasn’t satisfied with his explanation, and wanted a vote of no confidence. Mark Rutte tried half-heartedly to save him. To no avail. Before parliament could ask for the motion, the minister resigned. With tears in his eyes.

D66 Minister Sigrid Kaag (foreign trade & development aid) — that’s the one who is married to a Palestinian and without permission donated $60 million to the Palestinians — will take over, temporarily.

That’s not really good news. Kaag is not merely ‘against Israel’. She’s virulently anti-Semitic. Not really a surprise, for someone marrying a Palestinian, what? What worries me more is the way she thinks she can spend the public purse. Now she can do that on two ministries… As she sees fit, do remember that. That’s very dangerous. It’s hushed up a bit, but her donation of 60 million dollars to Hamas wasn’t stopped by the rest of the cabinet. That makes it official government policy. In other words: as a response to Trump’s freezing of support for the Palestinians, the Dutch government tossed a big bag of money to Hamas, to make up for it. That’s not what a trustworthy ally should do, is it? I’m pretty certain the Israeli government in Jerusalem doesn’t like it either. Those things can come back to haunt you, sooner or later. Trump won’t forget it, and neither will Netanyahu. This little thing is too minor to even mention, but it will be noted.

Hamburg: It Started With One Woman

The following report by Egri Nök was published earlier today at Vlad Tepes in a slightly different form. Visit Vlad’s place to see more photos, and a video.

Uta Ogilvie, protesting in Hamburg

Hamburg: It Started With One Woman

by Egri Nök

It all started three weeks ago Monday. That Monday evening Uta Ogilvie, an ordinary woman from the suburbs of Hamburg, went downtown, to the posh Hamburg shopping street Jungfernstieg. She held a pink sign, “Merkel must go”, and just walked the street in silence. She was all on her own.

Uta Ogilvie has no political affiliations; she is a practicing Buddhist, and no organization whatsoever was involved in this. It was just one woman’s personal protest.

After a while, some passers-by joined her.

The next Monday, two weeks ago, about sixty people joined her in silence.

From then on Uta started receiving threats. She asked police for protection of her house, which was denied.

In the early morning hours of this — the third — Monday, she and her family woke up to their house being vandalized.

[Photo, not shown: Threat, spray-painted on the house facade: “There’ll be trouble today”.]

Antifa called for an attack on the next, third, protest, and called for a counter-protest. Police were there with a massive presence of 1,200 officers to protect the approximately 150 protesters against 500 Antifa.

The conservative catholic German author Matthias Matussek joined the protest and took these photos:
