Gentlemanly Conduct

In the last few weeks I’ve noticed a number of new commenters, so now is a good time to revisit this site’s guidelines for commenting.

It will also fulfill a request by Dymphna. Months and months ago she asked me to post the rules for comments used by Mark Steyn’s website, which are similar to ours, and ones that she greatly approved of. I feel guilty that I didn’t do it before she died, but better late than never. Here are the Steyn Rules:

SteynOnline greatly appreciates your comments. We do not, however, publish comments containing: profanity, ad hominem insults, off-topic remarks, overly lengthy responses, commercial or other promotions, ALL-CAPS COMMENTS, incitement to violence or unilluminatingly insulting generalizations about various identity groups. We greatly value comments that are to the point and civilly expressed. Please do not simply put in links. Mark is interested in hearing YOUR comments. A URL is not a comment. Commenters’ email addresses will not be displayed publicly.

These are pretty much the same as my guidelines. The main difference is that I sometimes redact comments that violate the guidelines. If there aren’t too many violations in a single comment, and I’m not pressed for time, I’ll replace the profanity or ad-hominem slights with an acceptable synonym inside [square brackets], or just indicate that a word or phrase (or an even longer section) has been [redacted]. Recommendations that people or groups be tortured, slaughtered, etc. are generally replaced with [intemperate recommendations redacted].

If I don’t have time or am out of sorts, I’ll just delete the comment, which is of course much easier. Repeat offenders — people who just can’t seem to get the hang of the rules, even after having their comments redacted a few times — tend to annoy me, so I just delete such comments.

My habitual shorthand for our guidelines is this: “Gates of Vienna’s rules about comments require that they be civil, temperate, on-topic, and show decorum.”

When a Law is Not a Law

The first video below shows an incident that made headlines a few days ago in France. A woman in hijab entered the chamber of a regional parliament, and the resulting objections to her veil caused loud arguments among the lawmakers.

In the second video, Emmanuel “Toy Boy” Macron responds to questions from the press about the incident. Mr. Macron is saying, in effect: “The law should not be enforced against people whose ideology carries the implicit threat of violence. It should only be enforced against people who meekly submit and present no threat of violence.”

In other words, a law will not be enforced against Muslims if they don’t like it. But it will be enforced against the native French.

Fredrik Reinfeldt, Deconstructor of Sweden

Fredrik Reinfeldt: “I hate the Sweden Democrats”

As a follow-up to Saturday’s post, the essay below about Fredrik Reinfeldt’s policies was published in February of 2013 by the now-dormant Swedish dissident site Bojkotta Aftonbladet. Many thanks to LN for the translation:

Fredrik Reinfeldt is a TOTAL disaster for Sweden

Fredrik Reinfeldt has been prime minister in Sweden since 2006. On the same day he became prime minister he began working to increase immigration to Sweden. Since then, over 600,000 immigrants have come here, which is an average of 100,000 a year.

Reinfeldt’s policy has caused great anger among Swedes, and that anger increases with each passing year. The Swedish Democrats entered the Riksdag in 2010 and now make a strong showing in public opinion polls of about 10%, which would make the party Sweden’s third-largest in the Riksdag if elections were held today.

Those who join SD come from all parties but in recent times many Moderates [Reinfeldt’s party] have woken up and expressed support for SD’s policies. Within the Moderates, every third municipal politician is critical of parts of immigration policy, but the party is deeply divided. The Moderates are entirely governed by ultra-liberals, image-makers and globalists who do not intend to let go of power.

From the very beginning, Fredrik Reinfeldt’s policy was a total disaster for Sweden. He not only greatly increased immigration but also changed the constitution so that Sweden went from being a Swedish country to suddenly become “multicultural” — the constitution was changed without the people being asked. The change was voted through stealthily on November 24, 2010. It managed to happen without a single influential newspaper creating debates about it or informing the Swedish people about what was going on. Neither Swedish State Television nor Swedish Radio informed the Swedes about the constitutional change, and no public debates have taken place about it. That constitutional change should be annulled.

The fact that Fredrik Reinfeldt was able to implement such a satanic amendment to the Constitution is due to his cooperation with three other ultra-liberal parties that also want to destroy Sweden. Sweden’s parliament consists of seven treacherous parties that have been able to retain their power and influence because they have been backed up by state television and radio, by globalist newspaper groups such as the Bonnier Group, Schibsted and Stampen, who work around the clock to break down Swedish identity. In addition, we have the entire LO collective of unions that are fighting for everything and everyone except the Swedes.

The other day, Tobias Billström said he would set up a working group to “look” at the future migration policy. Billström said verbatim:

It is very important in this context to remember that the masses of people who come to Sweden affect both of these areas, and we can see that there is room for a discussion on how to influence the number of those who come to Sweden and at the same time protect the right to asylum. I think that this working group needs to spend a lot of time discussing… The purpose of this working group is to plot a course not only for the 2014 election but for the entire next term of office.

Billström just wanted to send a signal to his voters and really meant: “We should pretend that we do not want to increase immigration more right now because it just means that SD is growing even more.” In fact, the whole argument about “numbers” and the appointment of a working group is just a publicity scam. Nothing would happen, no reduction would happen.

Bankrupted by “Refugees”, Germany Prepares for War

The two unconnected articles below acquire more significance when posted together. Many thanks to MissPiggy for the translations.

First, from Handelsblatt:

Government Report: Refugee costs amounted to 23 billion euros in 2018

Last year, the German federal government spent 23 billion euros on refugees. Of this amount, 7.9 billion was spent on combating the causes of flight.

Berlin — According to a media report, the federal government spent 23 billion euros last year to fight the causes of flight and to care for arriving migrants. This is a further increase compared to 2017, reports the Bild newspaper (Monday). At that time, just under 21 billion euros were spent. The newspaper refers to the government report “Refugee and Integration Costs”, which is to be approved by the cabinet on Wednesday.

The largest part of the money, about 7.9 billion euros, had been used to fight the causes of flight. In addition, more than 4 billion euros were spent on Hartz IV (welfare benefits). According to the report, 7.5 billion euros went to the federal states, for example for the registration and accommodation of refugees up to the asylum decision as well as integration courses.

The second article from the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung describes the preparations by a German relief agency the possibility of war:

No Need to Turn Off the Lights and Don’t Bother Closing the Door

This week’s selection from Dymphna’s Greatest Hits discusses the antics of the Church of England as put on display back in June of 2005. I wish I could say that the situation in the Anglican Church has improved since then, but as far as I know it has deteriorated even further.

Note: Only one of the embedded links in the original post is still live. I had to remove the rest.

No Need to Turn Off the Lights and Don’t Bother Closing the Door

by Dymphna
Originally published on June 27, 2005

The Pharisees are in the driver’s seat of the Mini Cooper that has become the Anglican Church in England. Following the map printed up for them by the Anglican Peace and Justice Network, the C. of E. is busy driving over the cliff. How could anyone with a lick of common sense believe one word coming from a “Peace and Justice” committee? Did these people sleep through the birth and (Deo gratias) death of Communism? Do they not see the bright neon socialist signage in “Peace” or “Justice” — good Lord, never mind the double whammy PEACE and JUSTICE.

Does the Anglican Communion in England have any idea how irrelevant it is? The Incredible Shrinking Church has just shriveled another centimeter or two. It’s sooo bad it’s embarrassing. You could go read the report here (it’s a PDF. You’ll need version 7), but why bother. You can recite the p.c. lines from memory by now: poor Palestinians, bad Jews. Let’s take our money away from the bad Jews and give it to the deserving Palestinians who only want peace but the Jews are too mean to let them have it. Blah. Blah.

Well, we knew it was coming; this was just a matter of waiting for the final mainstream sheep farm to sell out. The only surprise is that it took so long. Here’s Melanie Phillips’ take on this “defining moment” —

The APJN report is full of the most inflammatory lies, libels and distortions about Israel — and the fact that the amended resolution that was finally passed only welcomed part of it (a weaselly caveat to provide deniability) does not alter the fact that it provided the ammunition for a poisonous onslaught against Israel. The document uncritically reproduced the Arab propaganda version of Israel’s history and the present circumstances of the Middle East conflict, presenting the Arab perpetrators of genocidal mass murder as victims and their real victims as oppressors merely for trying to defend themselves. But then what can one expect of a report which concludes by referring to ‘the honor of meeting the President of the Palestinian Authority, the late Yasser Arafat, who so warmly welcomed us in what turned out to be one of his last days among us’?

A warm welcome from the late pederast himself. How charming. Arafat was the father of terrorism, a diabolical Communist and one of the most truly evil people of his generation, so of course the Anglican Peace and Justice Network loved him. What’s not to love? Do you suppose they have a position paper on Castro, too? Another honorable sweetie-pie.

There are not words to describe the moral revulsion the name Arafat engenders. You could perhaps see why the naïve could be taken in by the man-in-the-street Palestinian: they’ve had years to work on and perfect their royal sense of resentful entitlement. And you might even decide to overlook the festering sores on a culture which produces suicide bombers who want to attack the hospital that treated them. But information on Arafat is readily available; his shameful history is there for the reading. One has to be willfully blind to refuse to acknowledge the depth and breadth of his malevolent iniquity.

“I Hate the Muslim Religion”

The following video shows a television talk show appearance by Yves Threard, the deputy editor of the French newspaper Le Figaro. Mr. Threard had some VERY politically incorrect things to say about Islam. As far as I know, anyone who says such things in France is liable to be prosecuted, as happened to Brigitte Bardot, Marine Le Pen, and most recently Eric Zemmour. Should we expect Mr. Threard to be indicted soon?

Fredrik Reinfeldt: Down With the Nation State!

Fredrik Reinfeldt is a former prime minister of Sweden. He is also the former leader of Moderaterna, the Moderate Party. In the article below, all instances of the word “Moderate” refer to the party. It is considered a “center-right” party, despite being all but indistinguishable from the Social Democrats in its policies. Thus there is no major alternative to big-state globalist socialism in Sweden except for the Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna), who will never be allowed to form a government.

I remember when Mr. Reinfeldt became prime minister back in 2006, “moderate” conservative journalists in the USA — think of them as the RINOphiles of the media establishment — celebrated, because the Moderates weren’t officially described as socialists, and were considered to be on the right. When you read the piece below, you’ll understand what a hoot that idea was.

Many thanks to LN for translating this article from Fria Tider:

Reinfeldt: It’s wrong to put one’s own country first

Former Prime Minister and Moderate Leader Fredrik Reinfeldt was invited to this year’s Moderate Party Conference to give a hostile speech. He warned of Donald Trump’s nationalist “world power order”.

During the Moderates’ ongoing party conference in Västerås, the former Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt was invited to speak.

Reinfeldt, who in recent years became a multimillionaire outside of politics, continued in the same vein as the infamous “open your hearts” speech from 2014, which paved the way for the great wave of asylum-seeking in 2015.

In his speech at the Party Conference, he focused on the American election next year, about which he will write a new book.

Reinfeldt warned of Donald Trump’s nationalism and the new “world order” that the US president is said to stand for. The world should be globalist, believes the former Moderate leader.

According to Reinfeldt, Donald Trump has done what communists and other opponents for decades have been trying to do.

“He has dismantled US rule over the world. Instead, we see the establishment of a new world power regime. And that is something we should react against; after all, a world power order is all about the conditions for human life where we are. That’s why this election matters,” Fredrik Reinfeldt said during the conference.

“Will it continue for four more years with a dismantling of the world order that — not least — this party has struggled to maintain?” he continued his speculations.

Reinfeldt argued that the “global answers” are needed because so-called climate policy cannot be resolved through nationalism.

“It is therefore necessary that world trade not be about putting one’s country first and by ordering protectionism in the flow of trade. Just remember what it challenges.”
