Imposing a “Narrative” on Boston, Stockholm, and London

Yesterday Vlad Tepes interviewed Maj. Stephen Coughlin (ret.), an accomplished American expert on Islamic law, about the ongoing riots in the suburbs of Stockholm, what had just happened in London, and what happened in Boston last month.

Maj. Coughlin describes the ways in which Western political leaders and the media impose a “narrative” on jihad attacks to dissociate them from Islam and make them appear something other than what they obviously are:

Norwegian Enricher Expresses Solidarity with the Woolwich Butchers

The Muslim community in Europe embraces the New World Order’s concept of borderlessness, at least as it concerns solidarity in jihad. A prominent “Norwegian” Salafist has expressed his enthusiasm for the “wonderful news” from Woolwich yesterday.

Many thanks to John M for translating this article from Dagbladet:

Ubaydullah Hussain hails the machete-killer in London

A British soldier was brutally killed in broad daylight in Woolwich, London yesterday. The soldier was first hit by a car, then attacked with knives and machetes.

One of the two attackers was filmed shortly after the crime.

“We swear by the Almighty Allah that we will never stop fighting against you. The only reason we do this is because Muslims are dying every single day. The British soldier was just an act of: ‘an eye for eye, a tooth for tooth,’” says the murderer as he looks straight into the camera. Something which has resulted in the British Prime Minister David Cameron to address this as “a terrorist attack”.

In Norway, the controversial Oslo resident Arslan Maroof Hussain (27) , better known as “Ubaydullah Hussain”, has applauded the brutal murder. Last night he wrote on his Facebook profile:

“Wonderful news from England. A terrorist pig from the British army has been slaughtered by our brave brothers. Allahu Akhbar!

“May Allah SWT reward their actions and intentions and humiliate the enemies of Islam in the worst possible way.”

Hussain was previously featured as one of the most attention-seeking Islamists and has at times also been referred to as leader of The Prophet’s Ummah , which is under investigation by the Oslo police and the Police Security Service.

PM’s Solution to Workplace Violence: Don’t Wear Uniforms in Public

Correction: Later reports indicate that it was the Ministry of Defence, and not the Prime Minister, that advised service members not to wear their uniforms. Mr. Cameron later countermanded the MoD, and told the soldiers they could wear their uniforms in public.

Yes, you read that right: “Conservative” Prime Minister David Cameron’s government recommends that serving British soldiers not wear their uniforms outside their bases, to avoid being butchered by fake Muslims.

This is how Britain shows its pride in its soldiers, who serve their country selflessly, risking their lives and limbs in far-off places for the cause of… of… well, something. Probably the cause of Multiculturalism, which brings diverse peoples together to live in harmony in the UK, each celebrating its unique heritage its own delightful way.

Which, of course, is why British soldiers are now required to conceal the fact that they are British soldiers — one of those unique cultural practices imported into Britain is to cut off the heads of infidel warriors. But we can’t let a minor issue like that slow down the advance of Multiculturalism, can we?

It must be noted in contrast that British Salafists are permitted to wear their uniforms in public on the streets of London. The full sharia rig: beanie, nightgown, bushy henna’d beard, a zebiba on the forehead and the wives in black bags. No problem!

Say, now there’s an idea: maybe British soldiers could wear burkas in public. That way no one would ever know.

Below are the excerpts from a Telegraph article about the latest travesty from Dhimmi Dave and his comrades-in-surrender:

Woolwich Attack: Troops Advised Not to Wear Uniform Outside Bases

Commanders have advised troops not to wear uniform travelling to and from work or outside bases following the brutal killing of a member of the military close to Woolwich barracks.

Defence sources said the order had been given that uniform should not be worn by those travelling alone, or on public transport as a “common sense precaution” immediately after the killing

A source stressed the order was temporary while investigations into the killing carried on and the decision would be reviewed in the next few days.

Col Richard Kemp, who commanded British forces in Afghanistan, said it would be a mistake to reinstate an earlier permanent bar on military personnel wearing uniforms in public. That ban was put in force because of an IRA campaign in the 1970s and 1980s to target personnel in Britain, Germany and Holland.

“Personally, I would argue against it,” he told the Today programme. “As we saw in this case you don’t need to have somebody in uniform, you just need to have someone who knows a bit about soldiers and does a bit of observation in the vicinity of a barracks and you can identify a soldier very quickly.

“I think we should be right to think about ways of protecting ourselves better but I think it would be wrong to suggest we live in a state of fear of this type of attack continuing.

“I think it is possible further attacks will be inspired by this type of attack… one of the biggest priorities for the services is to look at the role of the internet in motivating people and look very carefully at which radical sites should be suppressed on the internet, as well, of course, as more direct preaching in some of the mosques in this country which has caused people to turn to radicalism and terrorism before.

“That’s another area we need to put more resources into again.”

Tracking Down the Bonn Bomber

We posted an article and two follow-ups late last year about an unsuccessful bombing attempt in Bonn. An unknown perpetrator left a backpack containing an explosive device at the main railway station, but it failed to detonate.

Recent reports indicate a likely connection between the bomb and a previously-known Salafist conspirator. Our German correspondent Tiedar has compiled a summary of the latest news based on German-language media reports:

Bonn bomber — Hints point to well known Salafist

For a long time police were groping in the dark for the perpetrator of the failed Bonn bombing [last December]. Now they have a clue.

It leads to a Salafist who wanted to kill the Pro-NRW chief.

According to Stern , the DNA residues that were found on the explosive device belong to relatives of a German Salafist who is actually in investigative custody because of plans to murder chairmen Markus Beisicht of the right-wing party Pro-NRW. The Federal Prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday that the hints to a connection of both crimes have become more definite.

The DNA residues belong to the woman and the two-year-old son of the 26-year-old German Salafist Marco G, according to Stern.

Let It Burn

For three nights running, rioters have set cars and buildings on fire and thrown stones at the police in Husby and other culturally enriched suburbs of Stockholm. The local police now have a philosophy: “Let it burn, if no lives are in danger.”

The article below from Expressen talks about last night’s events in the banlieues of Stockholm. Notice that the ethnicity and religion of the “youths” are not mentioned, and when the police officer speculates on their motives, he studiously avoids any mention of JIM.

Many thanks to Heikki Polojärvi for the translation:

Police tactics: “Do as little as possible”

Police are on the scene for the third night in a row. On Monday night several people were arrested, and four were held for questioning. Now, the county police chief Mats Löfving talks about the tactics for Tuesday night.

“Our goal is to do as little as possible,” says Löfving in Primetime.

Unrest in Husby disturbed many on Sunday and Monday. Both the police and fire deputy have been on site. For the third day in a row the county police chief Mats Löfving has taken himself to Husby. Just before 23:00 on Tuesday night Löfving was interviewed on Expressen‘s TV show Primetime, and spoke about the tactics for the night.

“People are tired”

“Our goal is to do as little as possible, to do as many normal things as possible [direct translation, checked]. So that this is left to our best friends — the people of Husby. There will be a normal police presence, and the normal presence of journalists,” he says, and continues:

“People are tired and want the Husby they can live in back. But there is a clique that sets cars on fire just to see the police and rescue personnel to arrive on the scene. Then they will throw stones and shoot with a green laser. I don’t understand the driving force behind this.” Löfving has several theories about the reasons behind the unrest.

EDL Members Converge on Woolwich

“The people who did this are nothing to do with the real Islam.”

I knew we’d been hearing that line sooner or later. Are we reassured yet?

I’ll bet the British public are relieved to know that it wasn’t the real Islam that did the killing. Those guys screaming their devotion to Allah and swinging their meat cleavers while they butchered a soldier in the street — they must have been the fake Islam. The real Islam was off somewhere else, maybe feeding hungry children in the Congo. Or building health clinics for the poor in Haiti. Yeah, that must be it.

It won’t be long before the Muslim talking heads on TV start worrying about a “backlash”. And they’re right to worry: Led by Tommy Robinson, angry EDL supporters converged on Woolwich tonight at the site where the soldier was butchered earlier today. They were confronted by police and kettled in place.

The current mood among “persons of English background” may be too angry to kettle, however. This is what one of the mujahideen told the British public on videotape this afternoon:

“We swear by Almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you… You people will never be safe. Remove your government.”

How’s that for “community cohesion”, eh? It seems to me that David Cameron and Boris Johnson need to redouble their outreach to the Muslim community. Maybe they could fund a few new mosques and knight some more Muslims to get them in the House of Lords…

Here’s the report from The Daily Mail on the latest from Woolwich:

Masked English Defence League supporters flood Woolwich: Far-Right clash with police near scene of killing

More than 100 supporters of the English Defence League tonight gathered near the scene of where a soldier was hacked to death by Islamic fanatics and threw bottles at police.

Officers formed a cordon and the men left the immediate area after the brief incident. Some of the EDL supporters gathered at The Queen’s Arms pub locally, where they sang nationalistic songs.

One local Muslim said that a brick had been thrown through a mosque during the march.

Giving his name only as Abdul, he said: ‘I’m not happy about it. It’s a place of worship – a place of God. They have got Islam all wrong. The people who did this are nothing to do with the real Islam.’

Machete Jihad Comes to Woolwich

Update 1:39pm EDT: According to the latest report from the Mail, a BBC reporter says the attackers were shouting “Allahu akhbar!” as they stabbed and beheaded their victim.

The updated report also says the victim was wearing a t-shirt for “Help for Heroes”, an organization providing support for wounded veterans.

Jihad by machete seems to have migrated from Stockholm to London. This incident is still breaking news, but here is the story as it has unfolded so far in Woolwich, a southeastern suburb of London.

After a car crash, a serving soldier was set upon by two “youths”, who pulled him from his vehicle, hacked him to death with machetes, beheaded him, and dragged his body into the middle of the road. When the police arrived, the two men rushed the officers brandishing their weapons, which included a gun. At least one of the police was armed, and shot the two men, who are now in the hospital being treated.

The fact that the victim was beheaded was obviously something that the authorities wished to hush up, but witnesses at the scene immediately got on Twitter and reported the grisly details of what happened.

Below are excerpts from the latest report in The Daily Mail:

Two men ‘shot by armed police after hacking soldier in Help for Heroes T-shirt to death with machetes in busy London street’

Two people were today believed to have been shot by armed police after hacking a man to death with a machete in front of dozens of eyewitnesses.

Police were called this afternoon to reports of an assault in Woolwich, south London where witnesses claimed a man wearing a Help For Heroes t-shirt was attacked with knives.

The pair were then confronted by armed police and apparently shot by a female officer as they brandished weapons including a revolver.

This afternoon the area’s MP, Nick Raynsford, told BBC Radio 5 Live he believed the victim of the attack was a serving soldier.

Theresa May tonight called a meeting of the government’s emergency cabinet committee Cobra, showing that authorities were treating the incident as a possible terror attack.

The man is believed to have been hacked to death after a car crash. The scene of the attack is just 200 yards from Woolwich Barracks.

Mr Raynsford told the BBC: Mr Raynsford said: ‘The circumstances causing the incident are not yet clear. It’s been suggested it was the product of a road traffic accident, but that’s pure speculation.

‘We think a serving soldier was the victim. We don’t know the circumstances surrounding the incident.

‘We do know a number of weapons have been seized. They include a gun, various knives, and a machete, apparently.

‘The police clearly had to take action in order to try and arrest these individuals.’

Carbecues in the Stockholm Banlieues

It seems that Stockholm has become the Paris of the North — but probably not in a way that would gladden the heart of a Swedish tourism minister.

A third night of rioting has engulfed the suburbs of Stockholm, spreading from Husby to Tensta, Kista, Rinkeby, Jakobsberg, and other culturally enriched neighborhoods. The Swedish and Norwegian media are covering the events (assiduously avoiding saying anything about the ethnicity or immigrant status of the perpetrators), but I’m told that Danish outlets have so far made no mention of what is happening in the capital of their Nordic neighbor. Which is curious, considering the Denmark is generally more open than Norway or Sweden.

Many thanks to The Observer for translating this article from Aftenposten:

More car fires and unrest in various locations in Stockholm

For the third night in a row riots have broken out in the Swedish capital.

Cars are burning in various locations in and around the city according to Swedish media reports late Tuesday night.

In addition to the car fires a barn, Husby Gård [Husby Farm], which houses a cafe and an art center, have been torched according to Svenska Dagbladet [Swedish newspaper].

According to the newspaper, the fire department is at the scene, but the building is completely ablaze.

Kindergarten is burning

Cars have been torched in several suburbs in the northwestern parts of Stockholm, including in Husby, Tensta and Kista, writes DN.se.

Cars are also burning in the southwestern part of the city, according to the newspaper.

Battle Cries in Husby

Update: I’ve been corrected by one of our commenters — this is not an MSM report. I suppose I should have known — how could the Swedish MSM possibly have done such a broadcast? Still, it seemed like such a pro job…

The Swedish MSM have broken down and allowed the use of the M-word in their coverage of the riots in Husby, a suburb of Stockholm.

In the following video you’ll not only hear the word “Muslim” spoken by the narrator, but also the cry of “Allahu akhbar!” from the rioters. The presentation is obviously designed to reassure viewers that these “youths” represent only a tiny minority of Muslims who have been “radicalized”, but that’s a rearguard action on the part of the media — they have been forced to concede that Islam is involved in the current violence, and there’s no getting away from it.

Many thanks to T.E. for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for subtitling this Swedish news report:

The Nature of Political Violence

As I reported here on Sunday, a post-doctoral researcher at a British university has arranged to interview me as part of a project “looking at different manifestations of populism across Europe”. To avoid as many “gotcha!” traps as possible, I arranged to have any potentially loaded terms defined to my satisfaction in advance of answering the questions.

As it turned out, there, was only a single term — “far-right” — that needed to be defined. The interviewer replied to my request this morning, and his response was eminently reasonable and helpful. His cooperative and non-ideological approach is a far cry from that of the British journalist with whom I exchanged emails several months ago.

This measured, thoughtful reply is not what I would have expected from any major university investigating Islam-critics:

Thanks for getting back to me. Glad you’re happy with most of the questions. I used the term ‘far-right’ in that question largely because it’s the term used in the report it references, rather than as a reflection of my own, or any organisation’s definition of far right. On reflection I think you’re right to question the definition as the term is used rather casually in the report, and I’ll confess, in my questions.

I’ve been wracking my brains about the best way to characterise the term ‘far-right’ violence, but on reflection I think this is likely to be somewhat counterproductive given the wide spectrum of violent acts in recent years. I don’t think that any definition could adequately include one set of groups whilst excluding others. Moreover, I don’t really want to exclude any form of violence. I’m interested in how you see your work as influencing or not influencing the behaviour of a range of groups, not just those that Kundnani sees as being on the ‘far-right’.

I think the best thing to do might be to remove any political description from violence altogether so you are free to add in your own if you so choose. So the question should read:

Fjordman: Top Norwegian Prof: Critics of Mass Immigration Mentally Ill

Fjordman

Fjordman’s latest essay has been published at FrontPage Mag. Some excerpts are below:

Per Fugelli is a physician, originally from Stavanger in western Norway, who has for years been a Professor of Social Medicine at the University of Oslo. He also enjoys a high media profile. Fritt Ord, Norway’s most important and well-funded free speech organization, decided to give the Freedom of Expression Prize for 2013, their highest distinction, to Fugelli “for having given a voice to cancer patients.” He has been open about his struggle against this horrible disease and made a positive contribution in that regard, but in many other cases he’s been more preoccupied with harassing, threatening or bullying others who dare to use their freedom of speech.

Another person who has previously won the same award is William Nygaard, the Norwegian publisher of Salman Rushdie’s novel The Satanic Verses, who on the morning of 11 October 1993 was shot three times and nearly killed outside of his own home in Oslo. The percentage of Muslims in Norway at that point probably did not much exceed 1%. It was even less in Japan, where the translator of the same novel was murdered. Merely one percent or less of Islamic culture can thus be enough to get people killed for criticizing Islam. This should serve as a reminder of just how toxic Islam truly can be to any free society.
