A few hours after Donald Trump announced that he would be visiting East Palestine, Ohio, FEMA changed its mind and said it would deploy assistance to the area where the train derailed and spilled toxic chemicals. Meanwhile, the city of Cincinnati cut off its intake of water from the Ohio River as the toxic plume from East Palestine came closer to the city. Also meanwhile, Ohio Senator Michael Rulli warned citizens in the area not to drink the water, saying that it was not safe.

In other news, the Turkish government has all but ended the search for survivors of last week’s earthquake, as the death toll in the disaster rose over 46,000.

[Investigation FDS] When the EU finances a Turkish Islamo-nationalist brotherhood hostile to European civilization and implicated in a marriage scandal involving a little 6-year-old girl… to fight against Islamophobia

1.   The European Commission, through Erasmus+, has financed a new project on Islamophobia. This time, Islamophobia on social media after the Covid-19 pandemic.
2.   The project commences on 6 February 2023 in Istanbul.
3.   Those in charge of the project are: The Turkish Islamic-nationalist association Yavuz Sultan Selim, from the name of the Ottoman sultan Selim the First, who died in 1520.
4.   This association and its founder, Abdulhalik Ustaosmanoglu, the grandson of the founder of the Islamist brotherhood Ismailaga, has disseminated hateful statements which should have alerted the European Commission during the course of its validation of the project.
5.   For those nostalgic for the Ottoman Empire, European civilization is a “toothless monster”, made up of “infidels”, “enemies of Islam and the Prophet”.

Note: “One-tooth monster” or “toothless monster” makes reference to the Turkish anthem which targets Western Civilization and principally European [civilization]:

Resistance Begins With “I Will Not Comply”

The last time I wrote about the larger issues of the culture wars I talked about coercion. Not just coercion by the state — although that looms ever larger these days — but also coercion by employers against employees, by private corporations against their customers and vendors, and by various institutions such as schools and universities against their charges.

My thesis is that the real ideological divide nowadays is between those who want to coerce others to do their will and those who don’t. It’s true that the coercive impulse is more likely to be found on the left than on the right, but the division is not uniform. There are leftists who stick their necks out for libertarian principles, and there are right-wingers who are itching for the chance to force progressives to abandon their utopian efforts.

Coercion came to the fore during the Corona hysteria in 2020. Governments at all levels implemented draconian new restrictions on businesses and citizens. The new measures lacked the force of law, but were pushed through via the ramrod of nebulous “state of emergency” declarations issued by the executive. Businesses and private institutions simultaneously imposed their own rules, ejecting customers who violated social distancing and expelling students who refused to wear face masks.

It soon became clear that certain political leaders reveled in their new authoritarian powers, and enjoyed setting arbitrary rules that ordinary citizens were required to obey. Nurse Ratched types came into their own in hospitals and doctors’ offices all over the country. Ordinary citizens with authoritarian tendencies ordered complete strangers around in stores, restaurants, and other public places. Indignant apartment dwellers snitched out their neighbors to the police for violating lockdown rules. My first encounter with the zealots of the New Normal came when the guy ahead of me in line in Whole Foods screamed at me for not standing far enough away.

Then came the vaccine mandates. A huge number of people were presented with the choice of getting the needle or losing their jobs — or not being able to return to college, or not being able to get an indoor seat in a restaurant. I had to miss out on attending a performance of Beethoven’s Fifth because I was unable to present proof of vaccination.

The situation has eased somewhat in the last year or two, but the stench of coercion still hangs thick in the air. A state of emergency is even now in force in some jurisdictions, and it’s obvious that there are numerous political leaders who would welcome the opportunity to issue new totalitarian ukases if a new emergency were to arise and present them with the opportunity to roll out COVID 2.0.

The world is now divided into liberty-minded people on the one hand, and people who like to coerce — along with their willing subjects — on the other. The latter category is exemplified by those earnest citizens who wear a mask when they are out alone on the sidewalk walking their dog, or driving by themselves in their car.

Liberty-minded types are harder to spot. They don’t wear masks, even when prominent signs are posted reminding them to do it. They ignore social distancing rules. They never wipe down the handles of their shopping carts with sanitary wipes. If they have symptoms or are worried about getting sick, they stay home and drink plenty of fluids, rather than ordering others to behave in a certain way to accommodate their anxieties.

In other words, the only way we can be distinguished is by our failure to obey. That’s not always obvious now that masking is optional, so we tend to fade into the background.

At times like this, when coercion is all but universal, how do we resist?

If we don’t resist, those who coerce us will be emboldened, and impose ever-stricter limits on what we are allowed to do. The Corona Psychosis was just the beginning — it’s been a sort of trial run of authoritarianism, a mild version testing the waters in advance of the more serious totalitarian program that is planned for us.

COVID-19 was the rationale for the test, but the big push will use the “climate” to justify absolute control over every facet of our lives, implementing universal surveillance, digital currency, and artificial intelligence to monitor us and keep us in line. Eating the bugs. Fifteen minute cities. Social credit scores. Facial recognition on every corner, with every lamp post an eavesdropper. And all to Save the Planet.

How in the world we will be able to resist that? Where do we start?

Resistance begins when you say: “I will not comply.” With whatever it is — wearing the mask, eating the bugs, showing your vax pass, climbing into the cattle car.

Each act of resistance is a deliberate decision not to go along with a demand for compliance, however small the required behavior may be. Wearing a mask and staying at home are obvious examples from the COVID madness. New ones, more draconian ones, will undoubtedly arise as the “climate crisis” sets in during the run-up to 2030.

But not all of them will be that clear-cut, and not all of them will be easy. Refusing to drive a car with a “kill switch”, for example, may force you to travel by bicycle or on foot. Refusing to present a vax passport (or whatever the new digital pass is) may keep you from being able to buy groceries. Refusing to use digital currency may keep you from buying anything at all, except on the black market.

Part of “I will not comply” is the acceptance of the consequences of non-compliance. Refusing to pay your taxes, for example, is likely to invite severe consequences. If hundreds of thousands or millions of people do the same thing, enforcement will be dicey, and you may be able to skate by. But if you’re the only person who burns your 1040, and you get caught, you will be made an example of. You have to accept that.

Saying “I will not comply” means not waiting for your elected representatives to pass a law that prevents the government from issuing this or that diktat. It means remembering that your constitutional rights exist, regardless of any blatantly illegitimate state legislation or executive order that attempts to countermand them. As tyranny descends upon the land, your liberty may be taken from you, but not your freedom, which is God-given. Freedom lies between your ears and behind your eyes. Even a rifle butt in the back of the head cannot take it from you.

Non-compliance is a difficult habit to learn. Most of us are polite, and would prefer to go along with whatever civil society expects of us. Saying “I will not comply” goes against the grain, especially when the consequences for doing so are severe.

You’d rather wait for that law to be passed, or for the governor to have a change of heart, but in the meantime you get a kill switch in your car, your kid gets “transitioned” in school, and your credit card won’t let you buy any more meat if you exceed your monthly limit.

Widespread non-compliance is the only way to forestall tyranny. If enough people in enough places say “I will not comply,” then the coercion will fail. There are far more of us, the non-compliant, than there are would-be tyrants.

Dismembered in Buttes-Chaumont

There’s nothing in the following story from France to indicate that cultural enrichment was involved in this horrific crime, but I doubt there’s anyone living in the area who would bet against it.

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Le Parisien:

Body found dismembered in Buttes-Chaumont: The victim has been identified

She is a woman who lived in Seine-Saint-Denis. She disappeared several weeks ago. Today investigators of the Criminal Brigade are trying to understand how her body wound up being discovered in pieces in this park in the 19th arrondissement of Paris.

by Julian Constant
February 15, 2023

Two days after the macabre discovery of a dismembered woman in the Buttes-Chaumont park in Paris (19th arrondissement), the investigation has made a major advance. According to our information, the investigators of the Criminal Brigade have been able to identify the victim through her fingerprints.

Of North African origin, this 46-year-old woman’s disappearance had been reported on February 6. She lived in Seine-Saint-Denis. The case was assigned to investigators of the Brigade for Repression of Crimes Against Persons (BRDP), but no information had led to finding her.

Her disappearance had been reported to the police by her husband

It was her husband who alerted the police station in the municipality. “There was nothing about this couple to associate them with any criminal activity,” a source close to the case stressed. The officers of the Criminal Brigade are now concentrating on the background of the victim to try and understand why and by whom she was killed.

On Monday afternoon the woman’s pelvis was discovered by maintenance workers. She was wearing blue jeans with a floral design. On Tuesday a search was organized in and around this large green space in the 19th arrondissement of the capital to find the rest of her body.

The discovery of the hands and the head, in particular, on a railroad track located at the eastern entrance of the garden allowed police forensic technicians to know with certainty that this woman was the one who disappeared. But for now, the police do not yet know when the crime was committed. The autopsy, which will take place in the coming hours, should reveal more.

More on the Flagpole Controversy

As I reported earlier this month, the Board of Supervisors of Prince Edward County lost its appeal before the Circuit Court requesting that it override the Board of Zoning Appeals and ban the sixty-foot flagpole flying the Confederate Battle Flag just outside Farmville, Virginia.

The Virginia Flaggers sponsored the flag, which had been properly permitted and complied with the relevant county zoning ordinance (see the earlier post for more information.)

After the flag was up and flying, however, the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors decided that it had to go. The county passed a new ordinance that retroactively made the flag non-compliant, and then waited until after the statutory sixty-day waiting period before ordering it to be taken down. The property owners appealed the order to the Board of Zoning Appeals, which ruled in their favor. The county escalated it to the next level, but was rebuffed by the Circuit Court as well.

After ruminating on the matter for a couple of weeks, The Farmville Herald has finally reported on this latest setback to the woke agenda in Farmville (my italics):

Prince Edward judge rules against county in flagpole appeal

by Rachel Austin
February 16, 2023

FARMVILLE — The 60-foot flagpole at the intersection of East 3rd Street and U.S. 460 has been a topic of conversation in Prince Edward County for nearly a year. Even though the large Confederate flag that flies from it has caused some controversy, the main discussion is focused on the size of the pole. After months of discussion, a Prince Edward Circuit Court judge ruled in favor of keeping the flagpole standing.

At the hearing on Monday, Feb. 6, the Prince Edward County Circuit Court rejected the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors appeal to remove the flagpole that stands 35 feet above the maximum height for its zoning area. According to court records, the ruling has not yet been officially filed, but the judge ruled that the defendant could keep the flagpole standing.

“While we are certainly disappointed in the outcome of the appeal, we appreciate the consideration of the appeal,” said Prince Edward County Administrator Doug Stanley.

Identifying the size of the flagpole as the issue is disingenuous. The Herald, the Board of Supervisors, and local residents know very well that the real issue is the fact that the pole is flying a (shudder) Confederate flag. If the pole had been displaying a Pride flag, or a Black Lives Matter flag, or a Ukrainian flag, there would have been no issue. But everybody knows about that annoying First Amendment, so they had to find a supposedly neutral pretext to force the takedown of the flag.

If I had lots of money and lived in Prince Edward County, I’d put up a sixty-foot flagpole and fly a Black Lives Matter Flag, and then wait to see what happened. The gutmenschen would be in a quandary at that point — they could either let the flag fly without hindrance and thereby reveal their hypocrisy, or they could order it taken down and anger the usual suspects, thereby risking mostly peaceful protests on behalf of high-melanin citizens, the participants in which would have to bused in from major urban areas, since there is no significant Antifa presence in Farmville.

This hearing came after the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors voted at its July 2022 meeting to appeal the decision of the Board of Zoning Appeals to reverse the Notice of Violation issued for the erection of the flagpole located at the intersection of East 3rd Street and U.S. 460. According to Stanley, the Board unanimously believed that the case should be reviewed by the courts.

“The flagpole, in the assessment of County staff and County legal counsel, violates the County Zoning Ordinance, as it was erected without the prerequisite zoning permit,” said Stanley. “This issue has caused considerable consternation in the community and the Board felt pursuing the enforcement of the County Code was in the overall best interests of the community.”

In light of this ruling, the Board will spend time in the coming month to discuss if they should request that the Virginia Court of Appeals consider the matter further.

Well, it looks like the Board will probably appeal their case to the next level, as expected, using unlimited funds supplied by the taxpayers of Prince Edward County. The Virginia Flaggers — who have not yet recouped their legal costs for previous appeals — will once again have to pay lawyers to fight their case in the higher courts.

I’ll donate some more money to the defense fund at the next meeting of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. There are enough Confederate sympathizers in Central and Southside Virginia to be able to meet the costs. But if I were a Prince Edward County resident, it would irk me no end to have to pay for one side via my taxes, and then reach into my pocket voluntarily to pay for the other side.

I don’t know Prince Edward County politics very well, but it doesn’t seem likely that there is much in the way of voter support for the supervisors in their quest to make their county Confederate-free. Local sentiment, at least among white people, must be running strongly against them. But maybe they don’t care. Maybe virtue-signaling is more important then anything else, including being re-elected.

Two Interviews With Rasmus Paludan

Long-time readers know that we’ve been following Rasmus Paludan’s career trajectory for a number of years, since his earliest days of provocative street theater in various culturally enriched neighborhoods in Denmark. He became internationally notorious after his Koran-burnings caused violent riots in Sweden last Easter. His recent burning of a Koran outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm has earned him a place on the ISIS hit-list.

Last week Vlad did two video interviews with Rasmus. The most intriguing news is that he (Rasmus) is planning to burn a Koran every week outside the Turkish embassy in Copenhagen until Turkish President Erdogan agrees to allow Sweden to join NATO. That’s an ingenious judo move on his part, and I’ll be interested to see what the repercussions are, if any.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for uploading these videos.

Idaho House Votes for a Greater Idaho

Today marks an important milestone for the Greater Idaho movement: the House of Representatives in Idaho voted in favor of a bill that would begin consultations with Oregon to move the border between the two states to include counties in eastern Oregon that are culturally and economically similar to their counterparts in Idaho.

Below is the press release sent out today by Greater Idaho:

Idaho House passes “Greater Idaho” bill

The Idaho House of Representatives voted in favor of the “Greater Idaho” bill today. The bill, numbered HJM 1, authorizes Idaho legislators to begin talks with Oregon about relocating the state line they share.

During debate on the floor of the House, proponents of the bill cited the desirability of applying Idaho law to eastern Oregon as a way to push Oregon drug laws farther away from Idaho’s current population. They also cited an economic analysis published last week for the Claremont Institute which shows that rural Oregon counties would be a net benefit to Idaho financially.

A press release on the Greater Idaho movement’s website, greateridaho.org, said, “we are asking Oregon Legislature leaders to give this idea a hearing in Oregon. Unlike any other bill, our Oregon bill SJM 2 is supported by the votes of 11 counties, and a poll a year ago showed that 68% of northwestern Oregonian voters want their officials to look into the idea. Eastern Oregon deserves a chance to present this proposal to Oregon state leaders.”

Gender This!

Gender madness at the Free University of Berlin has reached an extreme that seems totally insane to anyone outside the hallowed halls of the academy. However, it is really just the natural and logical culmination of decades of postmodern ideological indoctrination.

I asked the translator whether the word “change” used in reference to gendered language in the following report meant a requirement to change masculine and feminine noun case endings to neuter. He said:

That’s how I understand this nonsense. Not that I actually understand it at all. I really don’t know, what with all these new made-up words popping up in our languages. No wonder that there’s so much misunderstanding and discontent now, because nobody speaks German or English any longer.

Many thanks to Hellequin GB for translating this article from Pleiteticker.de.

Student Parliament of the FU Berlin: Anyone who has not changed may not apply for anything

Just last week, the Free University of Berlin made the headlines. Now the Berliner Zeitung is reporting on unbelievable events in the student parliament of the FU: Those who do not change may not apply for anything. Even the “Binnen-I” (gender-equitable language use) is not woke enough.

Gender asterisk, colon or underscore: Advocates for the use of gender language often claim that no one is forced to do so. A process at the Freie Universität Berlin now shows that this is not true. The university in the western part of the capital was in the press just a week ago because the local student committee (AstA) torpedoed the police pursuit of a sex offender — now another scandal is making the headlines. A new regulation applies in the student parliament of the FU: Applications must be gendered.

The impetus for this was provided by an application from the Juso (Young Socialists) university group. It says: “Accordingly, the application calls for gender language to be defined as a criterion for formal justice. Proposals using the generic masculine or the Binnen-I would not be dealt with by the Stupa (Student Parliament) in the future and could not be passed.” Applications that do not comply with the regulations will no longer be processed. This emerges from an email from the chair of the “Student Parliament”, which was made available to the Berliner Zeitung. The applicant, a student at the Free University of Berlin, was consequently forced to adjust his application. It is not possible to object, since the obligation to gender is already anchored in the “legal order” of the “Student Parliament”. The use of the term “students” is also not accepted by the Stupa. “It is suggested to choose a wording with an underscore or colon if one does not use neutral language — “students” (generic masculine) —.”

The madness in the student committees and parliaments, which have little legitimacy anyway, does not even represent a fraction of the entire student body: in the current elections to the student parliament in January 2022, just 2.34% took part.

Afterword from the translator:
