Two young men have been prevented from traveling from the Netherlands to wage jihad in Syria. One was arrested, and, interestingly, the other has been confined to a mental hospital. The authorities estimate that about a hundred “Dutch” men have already joined the jihad in Syria.

In other news, a Yemeni man killed his 15-year-old daughter for talking on the phone with her boyfriend.

The Bogeyman

One of our Dutch contacts sent us an email this morning, apropos of the nascent anti-euro movement that includes the Partij voor de Vrijheid (Party for Freedom, PVV) and Front National (FN), with Sverigedemokraterna (The Sweden Democrats, SD) apparently soon to come on board:

I personally think the alliance of the PVV with Vlaams Belang, Front National, and Sverigedemokraterna makes the Euro left shiver with fear. All of them are now firmly democratic parties, all of them firmly reject the Euro and the EUSSR and all of them are vilified to almost unbelievable levels.

A fortnight ago the PVV organized a small demonstration in The Hague. About 2,000 participants showed up. Amongst them a few (five) extreme right wing misfits of Voorpost. They carried big “Prinsenvlaggen”.

Can you guess what happened? Of course you can…

Those five misfits were shown prominently on every news media present. The PVV was ignored as much as possible, and linked to right-wing extremism.

The Prinsenvlag is orange-white-(lighter) blue. For a while, this was promoted by the NSB (Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging, the Dutch fascists) to replace red-white-(dark) blue; at that time (late ’30s), the Dutch flag could be either. There is nothing extreme about this flag at all, but the association with the NSB tarred it forever. Of course, this is kept alive as much as possible: we have to have a bogey to fight against.

Sweden’s Revolving Door

At one time the campaign slogan used by Swedish Social Democrats was “Alla ska med” — “Everyone must come along”. Now the same catchphrase seems to be the motto for the whole country.

A Russian woman and her children were recently thrown out of Sweden via the front door, and immediately returned through the back door, ready to draw the dole and apply for asylum all over again.

Illegal immigrants deported at a cost of SEK 250,000 — two weeks later, the entire family back in Sweden again

It was expensive when a woman from Russia and her four children were deported from Sweden earlier this year. A police escort and chartered aircraft cost taxpayers more than a quarter of a million crowns. But it was only two weeks before the whole family was back in Sweden again.

In March of this year a woman and her four children were expelled to Russia. The deportation cost taxpayers over 250 thousand crowns when the immigrant family was put on a special chartered plane to Moscow with six policemen. The reason that the family is not considered able to ride regular flights to Moscow, according to the police, is that there was a risk that the woman or the children “could start screaming.”

“In this case, if the lady or the kids started screaming, then the captain might have to cancel the trip so that other travelers would not take offense at that,” says Willie Aflarenko, head of the Border Police Dalarna-Gävleborg, to SVT.

Diana West Responds to Conrad Black

Some of the most recent salvos in the ongoing intramural war against Diana West’s book American Betrayal have been fired by Conrad Black at the National Review Online — no fewer than three of his vitriolic attack have been published at NRO since the controversy began back in August.

Ms. West sent yet another rebuttal to NRO, which has now been published in the “Letters” section of the site. I’ll let Ms. West handle the details of her response — the entire piece is reproduced below — and confine myself to a consideration of some of the meta-issues.

Ten or twelve years ago I used to be a big fan of NRO, and spent a lot of time online every day reading it. However, over the next few years, it (as well as the print magazine) gradually morphed into an unabashed cheering section for the Republican Party, including the RINO establishment that has so egregiously sold its conservative base down the river. By the time Bill Buckley died in 2008, there wasn’t much left of the National Review I remembered (with the notable exceptions of Mark Steyn and John Derbyshire — the latter has been consigned to the Outer Darkness in the interim for his politically incorrect sins).

Conrad Black has never attempted any reasonable arguments — much less any conservative ones — against the points made in Diana West’s book. Among those who have fought so strongly against American Betrayal, the two principal forms of attack against its author are:

1.   To make completely bogus claims about what she says in her book and then argue against those; or
2.   To assert that certain of her conclusions are totally imaginary and unfounded, when in fact they are well-sourced and explained in detail.
 

Mr. Black seems to have chosen the latter option: he maintains that her observations are mere figments of her imagination, yet his proposition can easily be disproved by simply examining the text in the book itself.

That Conrad Black should grow so ferocious in his defense of his beloved FDR is understandable. But why does NRO continue to retail his frenzies, over and over again?

Why has National Review become the court jester for the hagiographers of Franklin Delano Roosevelt?

Do I detect the beginnings of rotary motion in the earthly remains of William F. Buckley Jr. somewhere beneath the soil of New England?

Conrad Black has now published three attacks at NATIONAL REVIEW ONLINE against my book American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character, but I would bet the $4.1 million Black has to pay the U.S. government in fines related to his fraud conviction that he hasn’t read the book.

In his most recent attack — this time against a positive review of American Betrayal by famed Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky and Pavel Stroilov at Breitbart News — Black mocks Bukovsky for, in Black’s telling, imagining that FDR believed that the capitalist and Communist systems were on a path of “convergence.”

“Convergence theory” shows up in more than half a dozen listings in American Betrayal‘s index. Nonetheless, Black writes:

The city of Harbin in northwest China experienced its second day of severe toxic smog. The city, which has more than twelve million inhabitants, kept primary schools closed again due to the health hazard, but high schoolers were allowed to return to class.

The Muslim Brotherhood Is Just A Phone Call Away!

The follow-up news from Tennessee about Jamal Badawi and the Muslim Brotherhood concerns the latest “interfaith outreach” event in the Nashville area, in which a rabbi is leading a busload of his congregants on a pilgrimage to the new Murfreesboro Mosque.

According to the latest newsletter from the Tennessee Council for Political Justice:

Rabbi Mark Schiftan, senior rabbi at The Temple in Nashville is preparing to take his congregants on a bus ride to the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro (ICM) on Sunday, October 27, 2013. He has dubbed this ride “A Sacred Journey of Understanding.” He claims to ride in support of First Amendment freedoms of worship and assembly.

Well Rabbi, we hate to burst your bubble, but you are no Freedom Rider. The bus riders of the late ‘50s and early ‘60s went armed with facts and the truth about what was happening to blacks in America. Your intended destination, the ICM does not stand for freedom and liberty as the West understands these concepts. In fact, as we have recently disclosed here and here, leadership at the mosque, pre- and post-construction, are aligned with those whose end goal is sharia for all. The Muslim Brotherhood uses the catchy phrase “civilization jihad” to describe their vision.

Imam Bahloul at the ICM is a graduate of Al Azhar University in Egypt with a degree in Da’awah (proselytizing for Islam). His thesis was the establishment of a Da’awah curriculum aimed at secularists, atheists, Christians, Jews, and Muslims. Al Azhar is credited with starting the Islamist movement with training from Islamic radicals. It is closely tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and stands for the propagation of Islam and sharia as a complete way of life. Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader who has been banned from the U.S. and the U.K., Yousef Al-Qaradawi, famously declared that:

Yes, the United Nations really wants to ban Santa. Not the American one living on the North Pole, mind you. But the original Santa from Holland. You may not know that the Dutch celebrate a very different Santa: Saint Nicolas, or in Dutch Sinterklaas.

In a nutshell, below is the Dutch version. Somewhere in the 18-19th century, the festival crossed the North Sea to England, where it became Santa Claus, and later on to America as the Santa you know so well.

This festival predates the US Santa by many centuries. The Dutch celebrated Sinterklaas from medieval times onwards. Not on 25 December, but on the evening of 5 December, which precedes the saint’s birthday on 6 December. The Dutch festival is primarily a children’s festival, celebrated within the family. Often Saint Nicolas pays the family a visit praising the good children and admonishing the bad ones.

The arrival of Saint Nicolas is broadcasted on national television, with huge crowds greeting him. The Dutch Santa is a smart guy: he doesn’t live at the North pole, but in a palace in Spain. He is centuries old, and doesn’t have a sleigh with reindeer. He rides on a white horse over the rooftops, with his faithful servant Black Pete walking next to him carrying a big bag with goodies to be dropped down the chimney.

Children place their shoe in front of the fireplace (nowadays the central heating system), with a carrot for the horse and a bowl of water. The next day they often find small gifts or candy in it, with the carrot and water gone.

Traditionally Santa arrives on a steamboat from Spain on the second Saturday of November. How he gets back nobody knows… His arrival is greeted with cheers of joy, but nobody has ever seen him leave.

Syria Calling

Young men all across Europe are decamping from their “homelands” and making their way to Syria to fight in the jihad against the Assad regime.

The news video below features an interview with one of these would-be mujahideen. Notice the overt threat against the German state: “If you interfere with us when we try to leave for Syria, it makes us very angry, and you know what Muslims do when they get angry…”

The Oil Battalions of Syria

What’s really going on in Syria is not something you will read about in the legacy media. An article like the one below will never appear in The New York Times or The Sunday Times. An in-depth documentary report about the “oil battalions” of Syria will never be aired by CNN or the BBC.

We denounced the covert Western intervention in Syria to help the Islamist rebellion. Assistance given to the international jihad brigades and radicalized rebels under the form of intelligence, military training, arms supplies etc. is very important. The bill has been settled, in particular by the Gulf States. The West acted on behalf of Qatar first, and then Saudi Arabia, both major customers in the armaments industry.

There were American mercenary soldiers in Iraq and elsewhere (Xe and former Blackwater). A new opportunity presented itself to Western states in crisis, their intervention in Syria on behalf of another rich state that pays the bills. What do you call these states, apart from mercenary States? We measured the importance of this phenomenon recently in Libya in the bombing of Libyan territory by NATO forces on behalf of Qatar. And we still do not even know the true extent of this disastrous intervention. The disaster has now moved to Syria.

In Syria, the jihadi expansion, “the Syrian rush eastwards”, came to fruition. The territory of northeastern Syria became the seat of a profitable as well as criminal operation with the rebel takeover of oil-well activities.

Starting in 2013, we have seen the emergence of bandits in the regions of Deir Ezzor, Rakka and Hassaké, bandits engaged in a special activity: the theft of crude oil. First they drilled pipelines to extract crude then sold it to the public, taking advantage of the general scarcity and making significant profits. Then they stole extraction and oil exploration equipment and even pipelines, hundreds of kilometers of them, with a value exceeding millions of dollars. These items were sold as scrap for a few thousand Syrian pounds (€1 = 150 LS)!

But in this race for the black gold of East Syria, greed was quickly generated and disputes over wells have become increasingly fierce between the protagonists represented by hordes of al-Qaeda (the al-Nusra Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (EIIC) Front), the heads of Bedouin tribes and Kurdish fighters. When disputes broke out over the division of spoils, as if they were raiding camels or cattle, some wells were burned to prevent another faction occupying the well: “This well is either mine or belongs to no one.” It belongs to whomever can attract the greatest number of fighters to protect “their well.” Other wells were deliberately demolished.

Christine Tasin, “Islamophobe”

Christine Tasin is a French Counterjihad activist for Résistance Républicaine. In a recent street encounter, she was upbraided by a Muslim for her “Islamophobia” in an attempt to force her into a humiliating retreat while the cameras were running. Despite the bullying, Ms. Tasin kept her cool throughout the confrontation.

More From Jamal Badawi

Jamal Badawi is an Egyptian-born Canadian imam and a popular lecturer on Islamic doctrines and Shariah. As reported here previously, Prof. Badawi will visit Tennessee next month to share his expertise at an interfaith event at the Murfreesboro Mosque.

Prof. Badawi is unabashed in his support of the Muslim Brotherhood, and his name is associated with an alphabet soup of unindicted co-conspirators in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation trial. With the President of the United States firmly in the Muslim Brotherhood camp, there is no longer any need for US agents of the Ikhwan to conceal their proclivities.

Two motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire on a crowd of Coptic Christians as they left a church after a wedding in Giza, Egypt. The pastor of the church reported that three people were killed and eighteen wounded. No arrests have yet been made.

In other news, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal warned his country that fracking as a method of oil extraction, as practiced in the USA and elsewhere, poses an economic threat to Saudi Arabia.
