“This Car Could Be You”

Don Laird is a regular reader who lives in Alberta, and keeps us on his mailing list for news and commentary. Yesterday he witnessed and photographed an unusual event in Edmonton, and sent out an email about what happened early this morning. It was an event that Counterjihad regulars are quite familiar with: blatant and public Muslim antagonism towards gay people. In this case, an occurrence that would have caused front page headlines and landed a non-Muslim perpetrator in jail is downplayed and hushed up because the crime was committed by culture enrichers. Furthermore, an attempt to photograph what happened elicited a thinly-veiled threat by the authorities.

Edmonton is obviously in a state of extreme denial about the nature and agenda of Islam.

With Mr. Laird’s permission, his entire report is reproduced below, plus one of the photos included with his email:

Today I was in Edmonton for a few hours. At about 8:30 pm, after finishing supper, I was driving westbound on Jasper Avenue near 117th Street.

As I travelled west I noticed on the south side of the street a red car with both its front and rear windows smashed out. There were large signs attached to the car that read “Gay Bashed by Islamic School”. A large crowd had gathered and in addition to several police cars in attendance there was a tow-truck hooking up to the red car getting ready to tow it.

I pulled into a driveway and got turned around. I pulled up beside the tow-truck just as the driver was about to get in to the truck. I got the driver’s attention and quickly explained that I was quite interested in the story, that I did some writing and wanted to take a couple of photographs of the car and the signs attached to it. The driver said “no f***ing way man, I’m outta here now.”… I pleaded with him and he ignored me.

I pulled over and got out to get my camera from the trunk. I just had it and the tow-truck driver roared away. I followed him and when he stopped at red lights I took some photographs of the car. This provoked a ridiculous response from the tow-truck driver who screamed at me out his window saying that “I wasn’t allowed to photograph the car as it was “police property now”…the driver then sped away and at one point pulled away from me at a very high rate of speed through a residential section with the red car swaying and swerving wildly behind him…I caught up at the next light and took some more photographs.

Reining in the PST

According to their critics, the Norwegian security police have gone too far in their surveillance of and information-gathering on members of radical Islamic groups in Norway. Our Norwegian correspondent The Observer has translated an article about an official report on the issue, and includes this introductory note:

This article from TV2 concerns a political committee in Norway that is taking active steps to prevent the PST (Norwegian security police) from doing their job. Individuals who are trying to destroy democracy are now off-limits for the security services, just because it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of some politicians to ‘keep a close eye’ on Muslims. It is also strange in light of the 22/7 attacks in Norway that politicians and political committees get to dictate which methods the security services are allowed to use, and that they base their decisions solely on political criteria, and not on actual threat-assessment criteria.

I guess that people like the Boston bombers would have been off limits for the security services if these idiots had their way. Notice also the stark contrast with Counterjihad activists in Norway, whom the political establishment wants very much to monitor.

The translated article from TV2 (if you open the original article, you’ll see that one of the authors is named Kadafi Zaman):

The PST have been engaged in illegal monitoring of Muslims in Norway

The EOS Committee has uncovered extensive violations.

Last Wednesday the EOS Committee presented a report to the Parliament on the PST and how the intelligence service has been gathering information about the Muslim extremist community in Norway.

The committee which has been appointed by the Norwegian Parliament to oversee the secret services claims that the PST has been engaging in illegal intelligence gathering on a number of occasions.

In its report the Committee maintains that although the PST had the legal mandate to monitor the top echelon of two domestic organizations, it has been established that the PST has collected information on several individuals based solely on their religious beliefs.

The EOS Committee believes that the extensive intelligence gathering is a result of uncritical gathering and use of information.

Has to delete illegal information

The PST has collected information on 110 members from one extreme organization and on approximately 370 members from a second organization.

The PST will now be ordered to delete illegal information from their records

“We have come across several hundred pieces of illegal information. We have informed the PST about individuals that are not supposed to be in their records, and the PST will now have to go through their records and delete this data. As of yet we still don’t know how many people we’re talking about.”

Generally speaking, to keep a close eye on these organizations is the right thing to do, but the PST still needs to take into account the integrity of the individuals when they file this information. And this is where the PST has failed, or in some cases not been accurate enough, says the leader of the committee, Eldbjørg Løwer to TV2.

The EOS committee has the following to say about the basis of the PST intelligence gathering of the first Islamic organization:

Gates of Vienna News Feed 4/26/2013

There’s a lot of rich, meaty goodness in tonight’s news feed, which contains an extra day’s worth of material.

Chiheb Esseghaier, one of the “Canadians” charged with plotting a terror attack on the Toronto-to-New York rail link, refuses to recognize the legitimacy of the Canadian judicial system. He says that he cannot submit to a system of laws that is not derived from holy scripture.

In other news, the terrorists freedom fighters of Al Nusra, the American-backed Syrian “rebel” force, have warned Lebanon to evict Hezbollah from Beirut, or the Syrian insurgent group will burn the city.

Circus Lippestad

This time last year the Scandinavian airwaves were crammed with news about the trial of Anders Behring Breivik, part of a media extravaganza that Fjordman dubbed “Circus Breivik”. For several weeks Mr. Breivik’s legal team, led by a lawyer named Geir Lippestad, enjoyed an extraordinary moment under the spotlight on television and in the newspapers.

Mr. Lippestad has recently extended his fifteen minutes of fame by publishing a book in which, among many other things, he takes potshots at Fjordman and this blog. His literary efforts led to an unusual situation in which he is now being scrutinized for possible violations of professional ethical standards.

Our Norwegian correspondent The Observer has translated an article describing the tribulations of Geir Lippestad. The translator includes this note:

Norway has finally waved goodbye to ‘Circus Breivik’, only to welcome ‘Circus Lippestad’, where ‘Lippie the Clown’ is playing the lead part.

Circus Breivik — Geir Lippestad is the second clown from the right.

It’s also worth noting that Geir Lippestad was invited to speak at the Labour Party’s annual conference about a week ago or so. This raises questions about a conflict of interest, as leading members of the Labour Party made it abundantly clear that it was preferable that Breivik was found to be criminally sane so he could be given a prison sentence. Is Lippie the Clown cashing in on the favour?

I guess Lippestad is so thoroughly blinded by his newfound fame that he’s unable to look at the situation in a rational manner. But then again, it’s not that much of a surprise. Remember the pictures that he and the defence team posed for during the trial? The guy is an attention-seeker.

The translated article from VG:

The Norwegian Association of Lawyers (MNA) is going to look into Geir Lippestad’s new book about the Breivik trial after having been contacted by concerned members

The MNA will look into whether the lawyer Geir Lippestad has violated the ethical code of conduct by publishing a book describing his role as a public defense attorney for Anders Behring Breivik.

In the book ‘Det vi kan stå for’ (‘We can hold our heads high’) Lippestad writes about the co-operation with Breivik during the trial and reveals information about the case that has previously not been published.

The MNA has received a number of complaints about the book and will look into the matter at a board meeting this coming weekend.

“We will look into the matter on Saturday. We have been contacted by several of our members who are deeply concerned and who have asked us to assess whether Lippestad has violated the ethical code of conduct by publishing this book,” says Merete Smith, Secretary-General of the MNA, to NTB (Norwegian News Agency).

The Oxymoronic Islamic Democracy

Andrew McCarthy’s new book explains why Islamic Democracy will always be an oxymoron [Yes, I know y’all understand what an oxymoron is but this offered an excuse to link to a fun site. I’m glad someone went to the trouble to create this page. And no, I don’t think the eternal perversions of language by Islamic dogmatists — e.g., “Arab Spring” — are funny, but if we don’t laugh they win. Besides, somewhere or other Mohammed said that laughter was wrong because when you opened your mouth to laugh the devil flew in. That or may not be the case. However, since Irishmen are full of the divil, Mohammed may have been right].

The full title of Mr. McCarthy’s book is Spring Fever: The Illusion of Islamic Democracy and it’s available in a paperback and Kindle.

This is the paperback version: Spring Fever: The Illusion of Islamic Democracy

Both versions share the same reader reviews. I always go to the lowest-rated reviews of any Amazon product, just because that’s often where you find the strange people. Not all the time, mind you, but frequently enough to be interesting. These are interesting — I especially like the image of the person who explained herself in this 3-star review.

First I try to imagine why she bought this as a gift. Is she sufficiently attached to some Islamophobe that she has to get them a present?? Poor woman. She buys the book and then opens it, going so far as to read the first twenty pages. Suddenly she comes to her senses, realizing she has a bad taste in her mouth. The request for a review comes from Amazon and Rhonda feels obliged to put down the minimum wording. She says moans:

I started reading this but since I got it for someone else I stopped reading. I did not enjoy it.

Being a perverse laughing Irishwoman I grok Rhonda’s review. I know I’ll like this book way past her twenty pages. Sadly, though, I don’t give her relationship with the recipient of her copy of Mr. McC’s book a five-star chance. She may be suffering from Spring Fever herself.

Wandering Around

I’m off to visit family, and will be gone until tomorrow, so there will be no news feed tonight.

Pay attention to what the substitute teacher says. You will be tested on the material upon my return.

Also, remember that the CCTV is on. Just because you can’t see the camera doesn’t mean it’s not there…

Gates of Vienna News Feed 4/24/2013

The news feed is light tonight due to the necessity of compiling it early. I’ll catch up on the rest later.

The most interesting story concerns the fact that Tamerlan Tsarnaev, like his brother mujahideen in Europe, was on welfare until at least 2012. Nice work if you can get it.

Ocular Topology

Note: This is one of an occasional series of reports on my newly-developed eye problem. Readers who are not interested in discussions about medical ailments may scroll past it.

Since the condition (choroidal neovascularization, or wet macular degeneration) developed in my left eye, I’ve been wanting to create a diagram representing the symptoms. However, until the maddening disjunction in my eyesight eased up a bit, I was unable to sit down with a pencil and paper to do the math, nor could I stare at the screen while I did the programming to create the image.

It’s been ten days now since my first treatment (an injection into the vitreous humor), and the symptoms have receded somewhat, allowing me to do more intensive visual work. Below is a schematic diagram of the central area of the visual field of my left eye, as it presented itself when the symptoms were at their worst, say about April 1:

Mob Rule in Lund

On Monday April 22 two journalists from Dispatch International went to “Students’ Evening” in the Swedish city of Lund to cover an event that included the leader of Sverigedemokraterna (the Sweden Democrats). A crowd of “anti-fascist” demonstrators confronted and physically attacked the chief editor of Dispatch, Ingrid Carlqvist, and Roger Sahlström, a photographer.

While the Swedish police merely looked on, the lefties set off firecrackers and smoke bombs, screaming out their hateful slogans.

They also pushed and threatened Ingrid and Roger — according to the mob, the two were not allowed to be there. The police did nothing and made no arrests.

The two journalists were forced to leave the area by those who threatened violence, and were not able to cover the event.

The following video, which was shot by Roger Sahlström, shows a small portion of the leftists’ violent behavior.

A more detailed account of the attack will appear soon in the English-language section of the Dispatch International website.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 4/23/2013

An immigrant barber in Qatar has been sentenced to forty lashes for drinking alcohol. Non-Muslims are permitted to drink in Qatar, provided they have a special permit. However, the alleged Asian offender is himself a Muslim, and thus subject to the full sharia penalty.

In other news, more than half a million dollars’ worth of smart phones have been stolen in Dublin since the beginning of this year.

French Embassy in Libya Destroyed by Workplace Violence

Islamic terrorists Violent extremists Freedom fighters Militant activists Somebody or other blew up a car bomb in front of the French embassy in Tripoli this morning, doing extensive damage and injuring two security guards.

Many thanks to Bear for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for subtitling this French news report:

Below are excerpts from a Telegraph article about the attack:

French embassy in Tripoli hit by car bomb

A car bomb has hit the French Embassy in the Libyan capital Tripoli, seriously injuring a security guard in the first major attack on a diplomatic mission in the city.

The bomb exploded before work started on Tuesday morning and there were no diplomats in the building. The security guard, who is French, was “gravely injured”, according to Libyan media, and the explosion caused major damage, with the outer wall of the embassy compound and part of the main building collapsed.

Another French security guard was said to have been wounded, but to have less severe injuries.

No-one claimed responsibility, but suspicion will fall on Al-Qaeda linked elements operating inside Libya. Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the North African branch of the terrorist organisation, has threatened to attack French interests in protest at France’s intervention in nearby Mali.

“We support and call all the Muslims to target France and its interests and subjects inside and outside France until it withdraws the last soldier from the land of the Muslims,” Abu Abdulilah Ahmed, a spokesman for the group said, in an unusual Twitter question-and-answer session with journalists only last Friday.

“Repelling France’s aggressive assault is an obligation of every Muslim not just al-Qaeda.”

Jihad Thwarted in Murcia and Zaragoza

According to the latest news from Spain, two Al Qaeda operatives were detained by the authorities in Murcia (to the east of Andalucía) and Zaragoza (part of Aragón). The young culturally enriched mischief-makers from Algeria and Morocco were apprehended before they could carry out an attack like the one in Boston, which they said they admired.

Notice that these two fellows are very much like the self-radicalized “lone wolves” who keep carrying out (or attempting) terror attacks in the United States. Yet in this country our political leaders take great pains to assure us that each incident has “no connection with organized terror groups” and “is not part of a larger conspiracy”. When will they acknowledge that a single conspiratorial ideology — Islam — is responsible for all of them?

Many thanks to our Spanish correspondent Hermes for translating this article from today’s La Verdad:

Two alleged Islamist terrorists have been detained in Murcia and Zaragoza

The National Police searched the flat where the one detained in Murcia was dwelling, in the district of Barriomar.

The Interior Minister, Jorge Fernández Díaz, assured today that one of the two alleged members of the radical cell related to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb who has been detained, had justified the Boston attack.

The minister said this about the detention of two presumed members of a radical cell linked to the terrorist organization AQMI (Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb) which was carried out in Murcia and Zaragoza.

“According to the police, the profile of the detainees is that of the lone wolf,” just like the two terrorists who carried out the terrorist attack in Boston, the Minister declared.

The detainee from Zaragoza praised the Boston attacks, calling them an answer to “the death of innocents and imperialism.”

Police have been working for more than a year in this operation, which remains open, in collaboration with police forces in France and Morocco, the Minister said. He pointed out that the detentions took place because there were “well-founded indications”, and the investigation was ripe.
