Gates of Vienna News Feed 1/22/2023

Last night a gunman entered a dance hall in Monterey Park, a predominantly Asian suburb of Los Angeles, and opened fire, killing ten people and wounding at least ten others at a celebration of the Lunar New Year. After being sought all day today by police, the gunman was eventually surrounded in his vehicle, and shot himself to death before he could be apprehended. Police have identified him as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, and have not determined a motive for his killing spree.

Culture-Enriching Knife Incident on the Bus in Mestre

Last Tuesday a “youth” carrying a large knife boarded a bus in the Italian town of Mestre, just outside of Venice. The following video features a description by the driver of how he handled the situation. He doesn’t mention the ethnicity of the knife-bearer, but various news stories describe the unruly passenger as an “Asian”.

Many thanks to HeHa for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Below is an English-language article from ANSA about the incident in Mestre:

Bus driver threatened by man with knife

(ANSA) — ROME, JAN 18 — An Italian bus driver was threatened by an Asian man with a knife in Mestre near Venice Tuesday night, sources said Wednesday.

The man was clearly high on something, they said. The driver pretended that his vehicle had suffered a fault that stopped it from leaving. He then phoned the police and they arrested the man.

He has been charged with reckless behaviour and aggravated threats.

Sweden Can Kiss NATO Membership Goodbye

Well, it looks like Rasmus Paludan has single-handedly kept Sweden out of NATO. That’s no mean feat. Depending on how serious the Swedish government is about joining NATO, we may soon hear Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson mutter: “Who will rid me of this turbulent Islamophobe?”

(In case you missed it, yesterday Mr. Paludan burned a Koran under heavy police security in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.)

Many thanks to LN for translating this article from Fria Tider:

Turkish ruling party ends NATO bid after Koran burning

The Turkish nationalist MHP party, which President Erdogan depends on in order to get Sweden’s NATO application through parliament, is now saying a definite no to bringing the Nordic country into NATO. The reason is the Koran burning that took place at the Turkish embassy today.

“The Swedish government’s decision to allow a degenerate Danish politician to burn the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy is not only a scandal, but also a clear provocation and an embodiment of barbarism and vandalism,” Devlet Bahceli told Anadolu.

Devlet Bahceli holds 48 seats in the Turkish parliament and – like so many other things – is often described as a “fascist” in the Swedish media.

“Sweden’s NATO application will not be approved by our parliamentary group under these circumstances. It would be a betrayal of our religion, our language and our goals for Turkey’s development in the first part of the 21st century,” he further says.

Bahceli says Sweden must correct this mistake by apologising to the Turkish and Islamic communities.

“It is offensive to have political and diplomatic relations at all with countries that are hostile to our national and moral values, and then it is out of the question to join the same NATO alliance as them,” he says.

“The Muslim Turkish nation will not tolerate this and will not be fooled by various outbursts,” he says, adding that the assessment is now clear.

While the Koran was burning, several other demonstrations, both for and against Erdogan, and against Sweden’s NATO membership, took place in Stockholm. Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Dagens Nyheter:

Demonstrations for and against NATO application and Turkey

Several demonstrations connected to Turley and Sweden’s NATO application are being held in Stockholm on Saturday afternoon. Police have many personnel out in the town, but so far no reports of disturbances.

At North Ban Square, hundreds of demonstrators gathered to protest against the Swedish application to NATO. The demonstration was organized by the Kurdish Democratic Community Center, and among the participants was the Rojava Committee, the group that hung an effigy of Erdogan at Stockholm’s city hall last week.

The atmosphere was calm, and many demonstrators waved red-green-yellow flags of Kurdish organizations, such as YPG and YPJ. Slogans were critical of both Turkey and Recep Tayyip Erdogan and against NATO. Those who gathered chanted, among other things, “Erdogan upside down — No to NATO, yes to peace.”

The notorious Islamophobic Danish-Swedish firebrand Rasmus Paludan was granted a permit to hold a Koran-burning demonstration in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm today. Mr. Paludan’s action aroused the ire of the Turkish government, and in response a hard-line Islamic party in the Turkish parliament vowed to block Sweden’s attempt to join NATO.

You And Whose Army?

Two little Hitlers will fight it out until
One little Hitler does the other one’s will.

— Elvis Costello

The taxes I pay are collected coercively. If I don’t pay them, I face the possibility of being summoned to court — at gunpoint, if necessary — whence, if I persist in my refusal, I can expect to be escorted to prison by armed marshals and remain there for a term specified by the state.

But what if the government were to finance itself the way churches do, that is, by soliciting voluntary contributions? (I’m referring to the USA, of course; I realize that in some European countries, for example, it is customary for major denominations to be bankrolled by the state.)

How much money could the government obtain by asking its citizens to donate to the treasury out of the goodness of their hearts? It would have to hold periodic fundraisers, the way NPR stations do, and offer premiums to donors for their contributions. A zoning variance, say, or perhaps a year’s supply of processed government cheese.

My guess is that government employees would have to tighten their belts and grow accustomed to making do with a lot less if they ever had to rely on the voluntary generosity of citizens to finance their programs.

When you look at it that way, it’s obvious that the whole idea is completely absurd. Any organized collective that subsists on donations is definitely not a government. Government is coercion. That’s what defines it. A government is a collection of people who use the threat of force to bend other people to their will. If it were any other way, it wouldn’t be a government.

The process described above is independent of ideology. The government may use coercion to enforce a particular ideology, but coercion itself is apolitical. It’s simply the process by which a government achieves its ideological ends.

At this historical moment, the Left is ascendant, so the coercive power of the state is employed largely to enforce leftist diktats. However, there’s no reason to assume this arrangement is permanent. In the past, state power has been used to achieve ends that are generally considered right-wing (and no, I do not mean Hitler and Mussolini; they were just as much leftists as our present bosses). Political fashions come and go, but state coercion remains.

I propose a new paradigm for liberty-minded people, one that focuses less on ideological distinctions, and more on the divide between those who would let others go about their business without interference, and those who want to harness the power of the state to bend people to their will.

Since the Left is king of the hill at the moment, it’s hard to find progressives who actively oppose the use of coercion to enforce ideological ends. Yet there are some — Bill Maher and Glenn Greenwald come to mind, for example. The latter has been all but cancelled for his principled opposition to the coercive totalitarian measures pushed by his leftist colleagues. In an earlier era, the late Nat Hentoff stood out as a left-wing advocate for liberty. At the time he was referred to as a libertarian, before the word developed its exclusive association with right-wingers.

We deplorables should make common cause with anyone who sincerely opposes coercion by the state. Progressive ideas are largely harmless when they are not enforced by state power. They would gain no traction whatsoever in my part of rural Virginia if they were not imposed by federal ukase. Leftist policies are simply unpopular; we have nothing to fear from them in the absence of coercion. They are not, generally speaking, persuasive.

A person who yearns to wield coercive power above all else is generally indifferent to ideology. He adopts an ideological stance for the sake of expedience, but discards it when the political winds shift, like changing a suit of clothes. Ideology in itself doesn’t matter. It is the bending of others to his will in which he finds pleasure and gratification.

In that sense, the will to power is an ideology in and of itself. Traditional ideologies are simply a screen behind which it can hide, and which can be used to divide and fragment any opposition to that power. A totalitarian dictator likes nothing better than to set the Left and the Right fighting each other. Partisan conflict is immensely useful to the Powers That Be.

Divide and conquer — ’twas ever thus.

It’s a mistake to think of an entity such as the World Economic Forum as left-wing. Yes, it has the appearance of being leftist, but that is because, as I said, the Left is currently ascendant. If the political winds shift, it may take on a right-wing aspect, or adopt a completely new political flavor when one emerges on the scene.

Its only ideology is to acquire, maintain, and exercise its own power.

A corollary: any group that engages in sustained violent coercion is a de facto agent of the coercive state. Antifa and Black Lives Matter come to mind in that regard. They would not be able to engage in their violent tactics with impunity if they were not acting as the enforcement arm of the existing power structure. The fate of the January 6th “insurrectionists” tells us what the state is capable of doing when someone thwarts its will. Antifa thugs would be languishing in solitary confinement if what they did ran contrary to state policy.

It should have become obvious by now that the U.S. Constitution is no longer the law of the land. Take, for example, last week’s (WARNING — disturbing video) Cherokee Indian SWAT raid in the mountains of western North Carolina. An unarmed man was summarily gunned down by local agents of the coercive state. Amazingly enough, he survived the encounter — and is facing criminal charges, naturally.

I don’t know what the man’s politics are, if any, but I can identify the ideology of the people who shot him: it’s the ideology of coercive state power.

If you appear “confrontational” or “threatening”, beware! You may be shot. Actually, you can be shot for no reason whatsoever. If the cops are nervous, or have perhaps kicked in the door of the wrong house, it’s BLAM! And then you’re singing with the angels.

When that happens, you (or your heirs) will have no recourse — there’s almost zero chance that the peace officers who ventilated you will ever be brought up on charges, much less convicted and imprisoned.

That’s how we know the Constitution is dead.

If I focus on the Left as an object of my antagonism, I am falling into a trap. The Left is like a frightening carved statue set up to guard the entrance to the Temple of Power. It’s placed there to draw the anger and antipathy of any who oppose that power, and to divert their attention away from the real enemy.

If I spend most of my time obsessing on Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, even to mock them, I am falling into the same trap. Joe Biden was put into place for exactly that purpose, to be a lightning rod that draws the current of righteous popular anger and disperses it harmlessly. When he is gone, there will be another one set up in his place.

Ron DeSantis will not save you. Even Donald Trump will not save you.

Make common cause with anyone who earnestly opposes the coercive power of the state, regardless of any disagreements you might have over the hot-button issues of the day. In the end, those are ephemera.

The Eye of Sauron is your real opponent.

In a few years’ time, anyone who lives in an urban or suburban area will be continuously surveilled by CCTV, street furniture, home appliances, and their own phones. If they want to be able to purchase the basic necessities of life, they will be forced into compliance with the dictates of the central power. The government will be privy to the smallest details of their lives, and guide their choices to conform with the requirements of the state.

This will happen whether Democrats or Republicans are in power. It is on the way regardless of any political machinations. Those are mere theater. The entire process is the natural unfolding of state power as enabled by the latest advances in technology.

Opposing it is quixotic in the extreme. Our chances of success are as close to zero as they could possibly be.

Frodo says, “I wish it need not have happened in my time.”

Gandalf responds, “So do I, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

EVs Turn Ferries Into Death Boats

Already a ship has sunk

Fire hazard: First shipping company bans electric cars on ferries

A Norwegian shipping company bans electric cars on its ferries. According to a risk analysis, the risk of fire from such vehicles is too great. An ocean liner recently sank because of it.

Oslo

The listed Norwegian shipping company Havila has banned electric, hybrid and hydrogen cars from its ferries. After a risk analysis, it was concluded that the risk to the safety of the shipping fleet was too great. If a car catches fire, the fire can no longer be extinguished. [That’s why firefighters are starting to refuse to go near accident sites where electric cars are involved, or try to find a towing service that will tow them to the scrap-yard afterwards, and that scrap-yard owner is most likely going to refuse to accept that car in any case. They are unstable bombs on wheels. At least that’s what I was told by an old school friend, who’s a firefighter, a few years back.]

The risks for ships from the transport of electric cars have been discussed since the Felicity Ace sank off the Azores last February. E-vehicles on board had caught fire. The fire could not be extinguished. Finally, the huge ship sank with thousands of electric cars and Porsche or Bentley vehicles.

E-cars are a danger for ship passengers

According to a report by the TradeWinds shipping news service, Havila shipping company boss Bent Martini said the risk analysis showed that the fire in an electric car required a particularly complex rescue operation. The crew on board could not afford the risk. Passengers would also be at risk. This is different for vehicles with combustion engines. A possible fire is usually easy to fight by the crew.

After the Felicity Ace sank, Greenpeace also warned against e-cars on ships: “In general, electronic components and especially electric vehicles pose a risk for every transport,” it said at the time.

The shipping company Havila travels the so-called mail ship route along the coast of northern Norway. The tours are important for Scandinavian passenger and cargo traffic and are also very popular with holidaymakers.

Totalitarian Tiptoeing Around the Money Machine

Our Hungarian correspondent László takes a skeptical look at his government’s new policy about ATMs in the light of the trend towards a cashless society.

Totalitarian Tiptoeing Around the Money Machine

by László

“The reason any kind of totalitarianism is able to be implemented with the population’s consent is due to the slow nature of its rollout. This totalitarian tiptoe is a concept I have become aware of and witnessed play out over the past two and a half years, even though it has been a go-to playbook to implement tyranny for centuries.” — Evan McDermod

Some informed Hungarians are puzzled that the Hungarian National Bank has stipulated the minimal number of ATMs that dispense cash (see the article below), in order to make cash more available in the country — while the National Bank is in on the CBDC project and the elimination of cash, as much as any other central bank. How can this apparent contradiction be resolved?

Well, it is possible that confidence in commercial banks — and of course the amount of money kept there by the populace — is being protected by the same Hungarian central bank that is otherwise committed to the introduction of CBDC (digital leash and muzzle).

After all, if those backward Huns keep storing their money in their pillowcases en masse, or even angrily close their bank accounts because there is not enough cash in the ATMs or enough cash machines (as has often been the case recently), the hoi polloi will not be ready to be suddenly ordered to “hand over that bag of bills, peasant, it’s ours now, and from now on there’s only digital central bank money and we’re gonna tell you how you spend your own money, or else.” In other words the transfer to the New System (the latest euphemism for the great fascist reset) must be controlled. Not necessarily smooth, but controlled.

And the less money in the banks, the less leverage for blackmail. Your money has to be in the possession of the parasitic overclass first, so that they can steal it later with the CBDC scam.

The Hungarian National Bank has its specific plans for the introduction of the CBDC. So, the Powers That Be may have miscalculated the pace of the introduction: they started doing away with the cash machines too early, in their eager effort to herd the sheeple towards the ‘digital money’ barn. But, unfortunately, the elderly are not changing their habits (or are not dying off) here at the rate the Schwabians may have expected, so many Hungarians are still reluctant to give up using paper money.

Imagine the horror, for a moment, when the banknote-loving retrograde Magyars one day face empty cash machines and a spontaneous bank run spiralled out of control, and thus those Eastern Eurabian bumpkins lose their confidence in the entire banking system too soon! They would never trust the banks ever again and the beautiful Davos plans for their enslavement through the magical CBDC would be significantly delayed, or even worse (God forbid)!

Therefore the Powers had to take a step back, and so they must keep on tiptoeing around the ATMs, to prevent their sweet tyranny-money plans from getting derailed.

The half-century Soviet occupation had taken its toll on the technological progress and habits of the population in Hungary. (Many of us prefer using cash. The gossip goes that many pensioners insist on getting their pensions in cash, or others run to the bank every month to take it all out once it has arrived in their accounts.) That backlog of technological modernity might even have some advantages when it comes to escaping the coming global tech-gulag. However, as hopeful as that may sound, the geographically uneven rollout of the CBDC around the world might be part of the plans as well, as a form of totalitarian tiptoeing strategy.

The translated article from HVG.hu:

The National Bank Has Stipulated the Mandatory Number of ATMs

Banks will be obliged to install new cash dispensers (ATMs) under a tight deadline if they do not reach the number of machines required by the new legislation. They must do this even if they close a cash machine somewhere [else].

A decree issued by the president of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on Tuesday night sets out the exact number of ATMs a bank must operate in a district of the capital, a county and the towns and cities within them, depending on the number of debit and credit cards it has issued. For the largest financial institutions, which have issued more than 2.4 million credit cards, this means 1,686 ATMs in the whole country, and they have to operate machines in 80% of the towns outside the capital cities of the [respective] counties. Only banks that do not keep retail accounts or own less than 1% of the [Hungarian] credit card market are exempt.

For Your Own Good, Keep Your Phone On!

Comrade citizens, your hand-held devices are necessary accessories that guarantee your rights in the Sustainable New Order!

People who don’t use their hand-held devices are assumed to be dangerous extremists and potential terrorists who need to be paid a visit by a Domestic Security SWAT team.

Let’s say you ride your bike to the GUM store to buy a pack of mealworms and some soy gruel. During your journey you are tracked by the CCTV cameras along the route, plus your bike is chipped, and communicates with the lamp posts and traffic lights all the way there and back.

And yet you don’t have your cell phone with you, comrade!

That is a violation of State Directive #4366-228JZ, which is punishable by two years’ forced labor at your local solar farm, cleaning the snow off the panels.

Better wise up, comrade! Put that phone in your pocket!

The above story is an obvious fantasy, since Comrade Citizen would be unable to purchase mealworms without using his CBDC on a hand-held device.

Get real, Baron!

Hanging’s Too Good For Him

On January 11 a group of Kurdish demonstrators in Sweden hanged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in effigy in front of Stockholm City Hall. The action was a deliberate historical mimicry of the end met by the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini in 1945.

Needless to say, Turkish government officials were upset when a video of the hanging went viral on social media. The Kurdish action was described as “racist” — apparently Turks and Kurds are considered racially distinct. Or maybe the Turks understood all too well that the best way to prod guilt-ridden Westerners into action is to call something they did “racist”.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson denounced the hanging, but a mere denunciation was not enough to satisfy the Turks, who demanded that the miscreants responsible for the action be brought to justice. The matter was referred to a Swedish prosecutor as a possible instance of defamation, but after examining the evidence, he declined to prosecute anyone. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu was incensed, and protested the prosecutor’s decision.

At this point, it looks like Sweden can kiss any potential NATO membership goodbye.

The following Aftonbladet video is based on footage of the hanging shot by the Kurds. Many thanks to Gary Fouse for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Below are excerpts from an ABC News article about the larger ramifications of the Kurdish street theater:

Sweden: Erdogan effigy ‘act of sabotage’ against NATO bid

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has denounced a protest by Kurds in central Stockholm where an effigy of Turkey’s president was hung from a lamppost as an act of “sabotage” against Sweden’s bid to join NATO

ANKARA, Turkey — Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on Friday denounced a protest by Kurds in central Stockholm, where an effigy of Turkey’s president was hung from a lamppost, as an act of “sabotage” against Sweden’s bid to join NATO.

The protest outside City Hall on Wednesday drew an angry backlash from Turkey, a NATO member which already had held off on approving Sweden’s application to become part of the Western military alliance until the government in Stockholm satisfies its demands.

The speaker of Turkey’s parliament, Mustafa Sentop, canceled a visit by Andreas Norlén, the speaker of the Swedish parliament, that was scheduled for next Tuesday. Turkish lawmakers need to ratify Sweden’s NATO application for the Nordic nation to become a member.

Turkey has made its approval conditional on Stockholm cracking down on exiled Kurdish militants and other groups that Ankara considers a threat to its national security. The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Swedish ambassador on Thursday over the Stockholm demonstration.

Kristersson condemned the incident involving the effigy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“People tried to show their views on the Swedish NATO accession through a disgusting way of portraying president Erdogan in almost something looking like an execution.” Kristersson told reporters after a meeting with European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen. “That is bad in every sense.”

Kristersson said he understood why Turkey is outraged, saying “we would show the same reaction if this was aimed at a Swedish leader.”

[…]

“I would say this is sabotage against the Swedish NATO application,” Kristersson said. “It is dangerous for Swedish security to act in this way.”

Pimping Her Daughter for ISIS

Camilla Olofsson is a Swedish convert to Islam who accompanied her husband to Iraq to take part in the jihad. This was back in the mid-2000s, before ISIS emerged, when Al Qaeda was trending. Ms. Olofsson took her children with her to give them a chance to be part of the jihad experience, and then stayed on when the Islamic State took over as the biggest stud muffin in the Middle East.

She eventually returned to Sweden, and has now been sentenced to almost seven years in prison for her activities in Iraq, which by Swedish standards is a stiff sentence. Among the crimes she was sentenced for was arranging for the “marriage” of her little girl to one of the mujahideen.

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from the Swedish outlet Doku.nu:

Several years in prison for widow of Swedish Al Qaeda leader

When Moroccan-Swedish Mohamed Moumou died in Mosul in 2008, he was the second-in-command within Al Qaeda in Iraq. Now his Swedish widow, Camilla Olofsson, has been convicted for aiding and abetting aggravated rape against children and human trafficking of her own child. The crime was committed in Syria during the rule of the Islamic State.

Mohamed Moumou was trained in an Al Qaeda camp in Afghanistan and left Sweden when he was listed as a terrorist by the UN in 2006. He died in a drone attack in Mosul in 2008. By that time he had climbed to the position of the number two man within Al Qaeda in Iraq.

According to security police his widow, Camilla Olofsson, and other members of the family were within the radical Islamist environment even after the death of Mohamed Moumou. For example, two of the sons have fought in Syria, one of whom died.

Doku has previously reported on [Child Protection Act] interventions against two of the daughters; in one of the cases one of the daughters was going to take a niece abroad, but she was arrested by police at Kastrup [Copenhagen Airport].

During the spring of 2022, Expressen reported that Camilla Olofsson and a man were charged by the Stockholm court for, among others, aggravated rape of children. The October 11 charge was for Camilla Olofsson’s part in human trafficking on two occasions, aiding and abetting aggravated child rape on several occasions, and forced marriage. The man, who according to an arrangement with Camilla Olofsson was allowed to marry one of her daughters, was charged with aggravated rape of a child.

The prosecutor’s oral evidence was very extensive and included, among other things, interviews with several people within the jihadist environment who were in the Islamic State and who had contact with Camilla Olofsson and the family when the crimes were reportedly committed.

The Solna district court has now announced its judgment. Camilla Olofsson is sentenced to six years and ten months in prison for human trafficking and aiding and abetting aggravated rape against one of her daughters. The forced marriage is included in the human trafficking charge for which she has been convicted, according to the district court.

Knife Jihad in Strasbourg

Last Saturday a culture-enricher from Kosovo went on a rampage with a bladed weapon in Strasbourg. During his attack, the rambunctious “youth” reportedly yelled “Allahu Akhbar”, which is Arabic for “I am known to the police and have a history of mental problems.”

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Le Figaro:

Strasbourg: A man armed with a knife attacks passersby before being overpowered by off-duty policeman

January 15, 2023

The assailant, who spoke Arabic during the acts, tried to stab a man, then a mother accompanied by her two children.

A man armed with a knife randomly strikes… Four days after the attack at Gare du Nord, the scene is repeated, this time in an Alsatian capital still traumatized by the Islamist attack of December 11, 2018. It was around 5pm on Saturday when a man armed with a knife tried to stab a passerby on Colmar Avenue in the Strasbourg district of Meinau. The latter, frightened, rushed to his car and managed to get away. The attacker then turned to a woman on a bicycle, accompanied by her two young children. Faced with the knife pointed at her, the mother tried to resist and fell to the ground.

An off-duty policeman, seeing the acts, came running. The man, who by chance was passing by, according to information from the SGP Police Union, tried to overpower the assailant without his service weapon, which was left at the police station. The suspect tried to stab him in the head without success. Only the hood of his jacket was pierced. “They struggled, and the policeman succeeded in immobilizing him with the help of a delivery man on a bicycle,” states the police source to Le Figaro. Once the Specialized Field Brigade (BST) arrived, the man was arrested and placed in custody.

Of Kosovar origin, the man, aged 31, was not known to the intelligence services for being radicalized but was listed in the files of previous judicial proceedings, specifically for illicit use of drugs in Seine-Saint Denis on February 16 and November 25, 2021. In the police car, he reportedly was chanting “Allahu Akhbar”. Also according to a police source, the assailant reiterated his remarks at the police station, adding: “You will all go to Hell because of what you are doing in Palestine.” His psychological state is described as “unstable” by a source close to the case. An investigation has been opened and assigned to the Judicial Police.

Attempted homicide is now the likely charge, but a terrorist act is not ruled out. The motives of the assailant remain unclear. He reportedly regrets the attack against the mother, but not the attack against the policeman, for whom the doctors have prescribed 45 days of disability time off.

In a state of shock, the mother was taken to the hospital, as was the policeman, who was injured in the hand and shoulder while bringing down the suspect. The Minister of Interior, Gerald Darmanin, praised a “courageous policeman who, while off-duty, arrested a very menacing individual. Thanks to his intervention, there are no victims to mourn.”
