The Muslim Brotherhood in Sweden, Part 14

Note: Our Swedish correspondent LN has left extensive additional material on Sameh Egyptson in the comments on news feeds here, here, and here.

Follow Sameh Egyptson’s dissertation: Islamists have infiltrated Sweden

On Friday, researcher Sameh Egyptson will present his thesis on how Islamists have infiltrated Sweden. Below is a live stream from Lund University.

At 2pm the presentation of Sameh Egyptson’s 740-page thesis will begin. For several years Egyptson has charted how the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated both organizations and political parties in the country.

Egyptson identifies Muslim leaders, political parties, and authorities in his research. Over the years, municipalities and authorities have distributed hundreds of millions of kronor to student associations, schools, and organizations that the researcher claims are run by Islamists.

One of those accused of being a Muslim Brotherhood in Sweden is the Islamic Association. An influential network that raises millions of kronor in support from taxpayers, and also runs the Stockholm Mosque in Södermalm.

Security arrangements

Lund University has been forced to take security measures before the presentation including closing down the building. This is after Islamists said that they intend to be present and protest against the thesis.

Below is a live stream video of the presentation.

Islam Bans Freedom of Speech for All Human Beings

The police in both Norway and Sweden have recently banned people from burning a copy of the Koran. The Danish-Swedish lawyer, politician and activist Rasmus Paludan has burned the Koran in public several times. Muslims staged violent riots over this in several Swedish cities in April 2022.[1] Recently, this has triggered international Islamic protests against Sweden. Turkish President Erdogan has threatened to block Sweden’s NATO membership bid partly because it remains legal in Sweden to burn the Koran.[2]

In February 2023 Swedish police banned a planned burning of the Koran in Stockholm.[3] They cited an increased risk of terror attacks as the reason for this decision.[4] Several experts on free speech question whether the police are allowed to do this according to current Swedish law.[5]

Finland has restrictive laws when it comes to freedom of expression. Even some Finnish politicians such as Jussi Halla-aho from the Finns Party have been legally prosecuted for allegedly making hateful comments about Islam.[6] Police in Finland would not allow a public burning of the Koran, according to the National Police Board. Finnish law stipulates that violating religious peace is a punishable offence, the police board said in a statement.[7]

You can, of course, think what you will about burning books, regardless of which book it is. The fact is, however, that in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark in the year 2023 it is legal to burn books.

The Norwegian activist Hege Storhaug has been writing about Islam and immigration for many years. Her book Islam: Europe Invaded. America Warned is also available in English. She criticized the authorities after the police banned a group from burning a copy of the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy in Oslo.[8] Again, it is questionable whether the police are allowed to do this according to current Norwegian law.

The police in Sweden and Norway are effectively saying in public that they cannot or will not uphold our secular laws, because they are afraid of violent reactions from Muslims. There really is no other way to interpret this behavior. This amounts to submission to Islamic religious law, sharia, and to Islamic rule.

Those who argue that we should simply stop offending Muslims do not understand Islam. The late Kurt Westergaard was one of several Danish artists who made a drawing of Muhammad for the newspaper Jyllands-Posten in 2005. This was deemed offensive by many Muslims, therefore some of them wanted to kill him. Culture editor Flemming Rose and others from Jyllands-Posten have also lived with threats for years for publishing these Muhammad cartoons.[9]

Could Swedish Muslims Be Triggered Into Staging Terrorist Attacks?

It’s undeniable that Rasmus Paludan has really got the world’s 7.8 quadrillion Muslims riled up. There have been large demonstrations against Sweden in majority-Muslim countries all over the world, and — as reported here earlier today — culture-enrichers in Germany have let it be known that their feelings are hurt.

Now it appears that the USA and the UK are warning their citizens to keep a low profile in Sweden, due to the possibility of Islamic terrorist attacks. But how can that be? Everyone knows that Islam is the religion of peace ’n’ love.

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Dagens Nyheter:

After Koran burning: USA warns of terror attacks in Sweden

The latest Koran burnings have caused the American government to warn of terror attacks in Sweden.

“The image painted of Sweden is that Koran burnings are sanctioned by protecting Paludan,” says Magnus Ranstorp, who is a terrorism researcher at the Defense Academy.

— Clara Wasell

Due to the latest Koran burnings, American citizens are now urged to “avoid public gatherings” and “keep a low profile”, which SVT was first to report. The reason is potential revenge attacks after Rasmus Paludan’s Koran burnings in Stockholm and Copenhagen, which led to protests in several countries.

Great Britain has also issued a warning for terror attacks in Sweden. In Denmark, the American embassy in Copenhagen already warned of terrorism earlier.

Adam Samara, press spokesman for the Security Police [Säpo] states that they are aware of and have had access to the information in the terror warning for Sweden.

“At the same time, all countries have their own threat assessments. When it comes to the USA and Great Britain, we refer to them.”

In Sweden, the terror threat level remains at a high level, that is to say, three on a scale of five.

Adam Samara doesn’t want to theorize about what lies behind other countries’ assessments, but stresses that Sweden’s terror threat level is reviewed regularly by following the development of events nationally and in the world.

“What we can state is that Koran burnings and the reactions and protests that result amount to a very problematic situation that in itself can be threatening. It is obviously something we are carefully following.”

Magnus Ranstorp believes that the reactions after the latest developments have been violent.

“There are strong feelings going around; most recently, today I saw a video where someone was shooting at a Swedish flag. One problem is the image that is painted of Sweden that Koran burnings are sanctioned by protecting Paludan.”

He believes Koran burnings, together with the hate campaign against social services, where Swedish authorities are accused of kidnapping Muslim children, risk triggering people who live in Sweden.

“The combination of these things has set huge forces in motion internationally; it has really put Sweden on the map.”

Pimping For Allah

Islamic law is very strict concerning sexual intercourse: it must not under any circumstances occur outside of marriage. Shi’ite Muslims, however, have devised an ingenious workaround: the “temporary marriage”. A man who is feeling sexually deprived simply pays an imam to perform a marriage between himself and a woman who agrees to the arrangement in return for a (small) cut of the fee. Afterwards, as soon as his caftan is covering his ankles again, he intones Talaq! Talaq! Talaq!, and the divorce is finalized.

Shi’ites in Sweden were recently discovered to be engaging extensively in such temporary marriages, and the Swedish authorities were shocked — shocked! — to learn that such an egregious exploitative practice was occurring in their beloved Folkhemmet.

The following report from the Swedish state broadcaster SVT discusses all this pimping for Allah. The general thrust, as it were, is: Don’t worry — the imams now have an action plan, and everything is under control.

After revelations about buying sex— Muslim leaders fired

January 30, 2023

Uppdrag Investigation

Shia Muslim leaders have conducted marriages of women purchased by men for casual sex, which Uppdrag [Assignment] revealed in the spring. Now the imams and religious leaders featured in the reportage are gone from their duties. “People have abused temporary marriages,” says Haider Ibrahim, chairman of the Shia Islamic Association in Sweden.

Temporary marriages or so-called “pleasure marriages” are a practice within Shia Islam that is officially described as shorter relations within the framework of religion. But Uppdrag’s investigation was able to reveal that it also functions as a kind of religiously-sanctioned prostitution. This is where imams are paid to conduct marriages of vulnerable women in “pleasure marriages” to men who want to buy casual sex.

Stopped contributions

The revelation caused a big reaction. One who reacted was Police Chief Petra Stenkula in Malmö.

“If I had led the preliminary investigation, I would have probably written a report on human trafficking,” she said in connection with the investigation.

The umbrella organization, Shia Islamic Association in Sweden (ISS), reacted and froze the membership and stopped contributions for twelve identified associations. They also began their own investigation, which is now finished.

“We have asked questions of all the congregations, and imams, and spoken with our members. We have gone deep into what occurred,” says Haider Ibrahim, chairman of ISS.

Stockholm is Called to Prayer

Anthony Burgess’ prophetic novel 1985 (written in 1978) opens with this sentence:

It was the week before Christmas, Monday midday, mild and muggy, and the muezzins of West London were yodeling about there being no God but Allah.

The muezzins of Stockholm have recently followed suit, and are yodeling now every night about the same Allah — and taking care to note that he is greater.

Video: Call to prayer at night in Stockholm: “Allahu Akhbar”

In a video clip posted by a resident in Hendriksdal in Nacka, a sound is heard that sounds suspiciously like a call to prayer. The prank was recorded during early Sunday morning — but it isn’t the first time such a sound has been heard at that location.

In Sweden, three mosques have received permission from the police to put out a call to prayer by loudspeaker. They are the mosques in Fittja in Botkyrka, Kungsmarken in Karlskrona, and Araby in Växjö.

But in the Stockholm area of Hendriksdal in Nacka, there is no permission issued for a Muslim call to prayer. In spite of this, residents in Hendriksdal have on repeated occasions witnessed what appears to be some type of Muslim call to prayer.

“Hendriksdal, today at 4:47 am, This howling in the early mornings is recurring. The sound seems to come from the station or its vicinity. As far as I know, this began last year. Today was the first time I was able to capture it on video,” one witness writes in a posting on Twitter. (See below)

Sweden Can Kiss NATO Membership Goodbye

Well, it looks like Rasmus Paludan has single-handedly kept Sweden out of NATO. That’s no mean feat. Depending on how serious the Swedish government is about joining NATO, we may soon hear Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson mutter: “Who will rid me of this turbulent Islamophobe?”

(In case you missed it, yesterday Mr. Paludan burned a Koran under heavy police security in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.)

Many thanks to LN for translating this article from Fria Tider:

Turkish ruling party ends NATO bid after Koran burning

The Turkish nationalist MHP party, which President Erdogan depends on in order to get Sweden’s NATO application through parliament, is now saying a definite no to bringing the Nordic country into NATO. The reason is the Koran burning that took place at the Turkish embassy today.

“The Swedish government’s decision to allow a degenerate Danish politician to burn the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy is not only a scandal, but also a clear provocation and an embodiment of barbarism and vandalism,” Devlet Bahceli told Anadolu.

Devlet Bahceli holds 48 seats in the Turkish parliament and – like so many other things – is often described as a “fascist” in the Swedish media.

“Sweden’s NATO application will not be approved by our parliamentary group under these circumstances. It would be a betrayal of our religion, our language and our goals for Turkey’s development in the first part of the 21st century,” he further says.

Bahceli says Sweden must correct this mistake by apologising to the Turkish and Islamic communities.

“It is offensive to have political and diplomatic relations at all with countries that are hostile to our national and moral values, and then it is out of the question to join the same NATO alliance as them,” he says.

“The Muslim Turkish nation will not tolerate this and will not be fooled by various outbursts,” he says, adding that the assessment is now clear.

While the Koran was burning, several other demonstrations, both for and against Erdogan, and against Sweden’s NATO membership, took place in Stockholm. Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Dagens Nyheter:

Demonstrations for and against NATO application and Turkey

Several demonstrations connected to Turley and Sweden’s NATO application are being held in Stockholm on Saturday afternoon. Police have many personnel out in the town, but so far no reports of disturbances.

At North Ban Square, hundreds of demonstrators gathered to protest against the Swedish application to NATO. The demonstration was organized by the Kurdish Democratic Community Center, and among the participants was the Rojava Committee, the group that hung an effigy of Erdogan at Stockholm’s city hall last week.

The atmosphere was calm, and many demonstrators waved red-green-yellow flags of Kurdish organizations, such as YPG and YPJ. Slogans were critical of both Turkey and Recep Tayyip Erdogan and against NATO. Those who gathered chanted, among other things, “Erdogan upside down — No to NATO, yes to peace.”

Toxic Feminism

The following essay was written by the Swedish author Katerina Janouch. When she was a child in Czechoslovakia in the 1960s she was called Kateřina Janouchová, but her name was shortened when her family moved to Scandinavia.

Ms. Janouch has lived in Sweden since the 1970s. In addition to being an immigration-critic, she writes and gives presentations on relationships, addiction, kinship, parenting, cohabitation, and writing. She is the founder of Katerina Magasin.

Many thanks to LN for translating this op-ed from Insikt24:

Toxic feminism is crushing love

Is toxic feminism making relationships impossible?

That’s the opinion of author and debater Katerina Janouch.

I talk to a male friend who tells me about his latest attempt at a love affair. They are both in their thirties, an age when many people choose to start a family, and my friend is longing to become a father. The woman he met through mutual friends initially seemed level-headed, sensible and honest and is on the same emotional wavelength. But very soon it turns out that my friend had gotten himself into a veritable inferno, where he is just supposed to keep quiet while the woman dictates all the terms, and if he protests, he is told that he is an evil man who should be ashamed of his lack of respect. I wonder now what our society will evolve into if women behave like spoiled brats based on some kind of confused radical feminist credo?

My dear friend is just one example of men testifying lately that it seems to be more the rule than the exception that women go completely off the rails, blaming their emotional breakdowns on the fact that it is obviously the men’s fault, while at the same time making impossible demands on how men should behave for a relationship to even be feasible. Being kind, understanding and able to talk about feelings doesn’t go very far. Even the man who conforms and does exactly as the woman says can have a hell of a time. Why?

Well, because suddenly he may have accidentally adapted too much, and doesn’t understand that the woman needs a little “chewing resistance”. In his desire to please, he becomes a servile doormat, and these galoshes don’t fit when she whimsically decides she wants an independent hunk. The woman becomes like a child in a sandbox, unable to choose between a red or a blue spade, and breaks down in a hysterical fit that results in her hitting the person who tries to comfort her. The emotionally disturbed radical feminists seriously believe that they have the right to behave as badly as they want and yet never have to encounter a patrol. They rule, demand, whine, are mean and impossible, moody and unpredictable. They are unstable and believe that even women’s violence against men is men’s fault. They are happy to vent their hatred against the entire male sex while screaming at the top of their lungs if they themselves receive the slightest criticism. It’s safe to say that avid social media use hardly does them any favours when the slightest outburst gains hundreds of ‘likes’ and unctuous cheers, even if the conflict may be based on some unreasonable behaviour she herself has engaged in, and then subsequently received a backlash for.

Not only that. A year later she may find out that the sex that took place actually happened without her willing consent, and that therefore the man can be charged with some kind of negligent rape. Later on in the trial, she alone is listened to, because she “felt” something, and as long as it is a woman who feels, the feelings are absolutely true. The man has no voice at all, and although he presents undeniable facts pointing to reciprocity, he is treated like a pariah, and the verdict is in the woman’s favour. I wonder what man would want to expose himself to such risks? Many don’t. They have stopped dating. They are resentful, disillusioned and resigned, and actually start to dislike women.

The behavior can be likened to the left’s strange psychotic break we see now after the [Swedish general] election. After the socialists have destroyed all of Sweden, they now demand that the succeeding government clean up the mess in a few short months. A feminine, emotion-based behavior, where they also got a bunch of bitches, who usually bring a penis substitute with them when traveling by train. All logic and common sense is gone; what remains is a red-hot, hysterical, frothing-at-the-mouth Left, with whom it is impossible to have a normal discussion. Everything is everyone else’s fault, they themselves are victims, and despite their behavior leading to a veritable societal collapse, they refuse to take responsibility. Responsibility, by the way — they can’t even spell it. They are like toddlers who lack all forms of logic and consistent thinking. It actually scares the hell out of you, when you think about it and realise that these are grown-up people behaving in this way. No wonder Sweden has gone off the rails, having these types of individuals in important decision-making positions and in positions of strategic authority.

The Clever and the Stupid

Karl-Olov Arnstberg is a Swedish writer, ethnologist, and retired university professor. Many thanks to LN for translating this post from the blog Invandring och mörkläggning:

Sunday Chronicle:

The clever and the stupid

by Karl-Olov Arnstberg
January 1, 2023

Last week’s Sunday Chronicle was about intelligence and the quarter-century-old but still controversial research report The Bell Curve. Today I thought I’d shift the focus from the average IQ ratio of different groups to the “smart fraction” — see the picture above.

Tabula Rasa/Blank Slate is a philosophical theory which maintains that human beings are not only shaped by their environment and experiences, but also that they can be shaped into almost anything. Aristotle asserted this in his treatise De Anima (On the Soul), and the Greek Stoics developed the idea. The next big names are the canonised 13th-century philosopher Thomas Aquinas, and then the 17th-century philosophers Descartes and John Locke. In his “Essay Concerning Human Understanding”, the latter coined the term “white paper/blank slate”. In his novel Émile or Education, Jean-Jacques Rousseau echoes the same idea when he argues that adults can mould children into whatever they want. Then we may jump to Marx, who argues that it is capitalism that creates the differences (the injustices). In the paradise to which the dictatorship of the proletariat leads, all people will be the same, that is to say, good. No rich capitalist pigs there. The Social Democrats were not convinced that this happiness would be achieved through revolution, and so launched their alternative, social engineering.

The idea that we can all be equal is attractive to socialists in the first place, which, as we know, has cost the lives of several million people. Freud may also be included in the ranks of believers, since he argued that inheritance has minimal significance. Man is formed in his early childhood years. As late as the 1950s, behaviourist psychologists were so convinced that all human behaviour was controlled by the environment that there were even those who believed that the right therapy could cure Down’s syndrome.

That’s the legacy we live with to this day. The politically correct dogma assumes that all human beings are born as blank slates, and that it is only faulty policies, upbringing and environmental factors such as education, nutrition, medical care, etc. that prevent a person from attaining the intellectual or cultural achievements of another person.

It does not seem to matter that there is no scientific support whatsoever for the ideology of equality. Neuroscience, psychometrics and evolutionary psychology have totally shattered the theory that humans are born as a blank slate. The cognitive psychologist Steven Pinker’s 500+ page exposé The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature was published in 2002. Four years later, it was published in Swedish.

Politicians who prattle on about the equal value of human beings, and feminists who campaign for equal opportunity quotas, should be ordered to read it. It would save us citizens a lot of political nonsense. It would also save money, not least when it comes to aid. It is not possible to use aid to help poor countries with low IQ averages out of their misery. Moreover, if politicians were to follow what modern biologists and evolutionary psychologists agree on concerning the importance of heredity, they would put an end to the immigration that is currently filling up Sweden with new inhabitants from Africa and the Middle East faster than the fastest chicken can run.

In 2002, what was called the Smart Fraction Theory was first presented by someone using the pseudonym La Griffe du Lion (The Lion’s Claw), which probably stands for the American sociologist Robert Gordon, who wrote anonymously to avoid a lot of hateful comments and claims of racism. Even controversial science should be driven by logic, theory and empirical evidence, and thus not be disturbed or stopped by vilification and threats. But that’s unfortunately what has happened.

More on Luna’s Story

On Monday I posted about the plight of Luna, a 9-year-old Swedish girl who was raped and left for dead by a 15-year-old Ethiopian culture-enricher. The video report below from Swedish TV gives additional details about the case.

Luna’s aunt, who acts as a spokesperson for the family, says that she is not angry at the “youth” who savaged her niece, but rather at the school authorities and social services for not acting on the information they already had about the perpetrator. Their timely intervention might have prevented the attack on Luna.

One group of people that Luna’s aunt is not angry at — and which goes unmentioned in this report — is the political class who crafted the Swedish immigration laws that allowed such a feral predator into the country in the first place. If anybody besides the rapist himself deserves the ire of Luna’s family, it is the politicians and legislators who handed their country over to violent misogynists from the Third World.

Culture-Enriching Nightmare in Skellefteå

Last summer a 12-year-old girl named Luna was tied to a tree, raped, and almost strangled to death with her own shoelace by a 15-year-old Ethiopian culture-enricher in the Swedish town of Skellefteå. When the “youth” entered the country, his parents had registered his age as 13, which is why he was enrolled in school with girls of Luna’s age.

The near-strangulation deprived Luna’s brain of oxygen for a critical period before emergency personnel could reach her and begin treatment. Her ordeal has left her a near-vegetable, unable to move her limbs or speak. She is clearly aware of what has happened to her, however, and has endured unimaginable ongoing trauma. Her condition requires round-the-clock medical care.

See this article from Remix News (hat tip Reader from Chicago) for details on the incident that left Luna in such a gravely disabled condition.

The attack on Luna received relatively little attention last summer, but the girl’s aunt Emma recently went public with her case, and has garnered widespread public support, including donations that will help finance the necessary medical treatment and equipment to help mitigate her debilitated condition.

Luna’s family on the big support: “Feel our thanks”

December 22, 2022

Just under a week has passed since Luna’s family chose to tell about the serious crime that has turned their lives upside down.

The support has been enormous — and with that comes the feeling of being less alone in their grief.

“You know who you are — feel our thanks,” says Luna’s aunt, Emma.

by Katrin Krantz

Staggering. Beyond all expectations.

That is how Luna’s aunt, Emma, describes the just under a week that has passed since they went out and told Luna’s story to Expressen.

Reactions have been strong. Many have reached out to the family.

“It has been hard to take in how big this has become. It feels like all of Sweden stood up and hugged us,” says Emma.

She could not have foreseen the wave of warmth and sympathy that came in the wake of the reporting.

“We in the family had an ambition that Luna would be given a voice. That she would not be hidden and forgotten in the statistics, and that we would pursue her case.”

They have now made contact with people who have cutting-edge competence and can give advice about, for example, Luna’s rehabilitation. In the text, Emma tells how Luna is happy to greet dogs, and many dog owners have reached out and offered canine companionship.

The Closing of the Imanskolan

The following news video from Sweden is not current; it originally aired sometime last spring.

A Muslim-themed school in Uppsala known as the Imanskolan was shut down after its pupils were exposed to “radicalization”, due to their being taught in a parallel society. The interesting thing about the story is that the decision to close the school was taken based on input from Säpo, the Swedish Security Police. Säpo investigated the school and reported its findings to the Inspectorate of Swedish Schools, which moved to close the Imanskolan.

The video features interviews with Maged Ashkar, a member of the administrative board for Imanskolan in Uppsala, and Fredrika Brickman, the head of the Inspectorate of Schools.

It’s Nobody’s Business But The Turks’

It looks like Sweden’s fastidiousness about human rights will put the kibosh on its bid to join NATO, thanks to the veto power exercised by Turkey.

Supreme Court halts deportation of Coup Turk — Could cost Sweden entry into NATO

December 19, 2022

In a case where Turkey is requesting that one of its citizens be extradited for being involved in the country’s coup attempt in 2016, the extradition has been blocked by the Supreme Court, even though Turkey has made it clear that this may prevent Sweden from being admitted into NATO.

“It is clear that in this case, there are several obstacles to extradition. It applies to the requirement that double criminal liability is not fulfilled in regard to the one suspected crime,” says Justice Petter Asp, one of the judges who took part in the decision, in a press release.

“There is also the question of political crimes. There is also a risk of persecution based on this person’s political views. Extradition, therefore, can not take place,” he further says.

The person in question is considered to have been part of the so-called Gulen Movement. The crime which the extradition request is based on is partly that the person is suspected of participation in the coup attempt in Turkey in 2016, and partly that he is suspected of being in the organization itself.

The Supreme Court has now expressed itself to the government on the issue.

As to suspicion that the person was part of the Gulen Movement, the Supreme Court finds that is already a hindrance to extradition on the grounds that what he is accused of is not a crime in Sweden. Suspicion of participating in a coup attempt, on the other hand, and suspicion of assisting a rebellion is a crime in Sweden.

The Supreme Court further finds a hindrance to extradition since there is the question of so-called political crime, i.e. crimes that are directed against the state and that are political in nature.

As to the fact that the person was earlier granted refugee status in Sweden on the grounds of a risk of persecution because of his political views, the court also finds that there are obstacles to extradition according to Section 7 of the extradition law.

This section, among other things, addresses the risk of persecution based on a person’s political views.

The Supreme Court’s opinion means that the government — which ultimately has to decide on the issue — does not have to ability to grant the extradition request.

Thoughts After a Visit to Poland

Fjordman’s latest essay concerns his recent visit to one of the few remaining European strongholds of Christianity.

Thoughts After a Visit to Poland

by Fjordman

The medieval city of Krakow in southern Poland has a well-deserved reputation for beauty. I recently had the pleasure of spending several days there. The city has seen its fair share of unrest, and was sacked and burned by Mongols in the thirteenth century. Yet Krakow survived the Second World War more intact than did many other Polish cities such as Warsaw.

Outsiders often think of Poland as a land of vodka, and to a lesser extent beer or mead. However, there are several wine-producing Polish districts as well. This is unusual for a country that was never a part of the Roman Empire; even today, most important European wine districts were once under Roman rule. Zielona Gora in western Poland has an annual wine festival. In the vicinity of Krakow you can also find several vineyards, primarily producing white wines.

While Krakow is a fine city to visit at any time, December is certainly one of the highlights. Personally, I enjoyed the local Christmas markets. Krakow is famous for its beautiful nativity scenes representing the birth of Jesus. The best ones of these are true works of art. Krakow also feels quite safe for visitors, and it still looks like a European city. Many towns further west in Europe now look like they have been transplanted from the Middle East or Africa.

Several cities, such as Berlin on 19 December 2016 and Strasbourg on 11 December 2018, have suffered deadly attacks by militant Muslims specifically targeting Christmas markets. As a consequence, security against Jihadist attacks has been beefed up all over Western Europe. Even Scandinavian cities such as Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo have put up concrete blocks to protect you from being mowed down by an Islamic terrorist while drinking mulled wine.

I have previously reviewed the book The Camp of the Sane and The Camp of the Saints by author Max Denken, who has Polish roots. He hopes that the eastern half of Europe, where people have experienced Communist rule, may be more resistant to social experiments, indoctrination and decadence than Europeans further west. The Visegrád Group of Central Europe, consisting of Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, form an important part of this bloc.

However, the Russian invasion of the Ukraine in 2022 has created cracks within the Visegrád Four. It has inflamed anti-Russian sentiments in many countries, including Poland. Meanwhile, Hungary under its pragmatic Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been criticized for being insufficiently willing to impose harsh sanctions against Russia. Orbán has suggested that the sanctions have backfired and may have harmed the economies of EU countries more than Russia.

Getting Away With Murder

A “Swede” who allegedly committed a murder in Sweden four years ago absconded to Iraq, and has now been arrested by Iraqi police. A Swedish prosecutor wants to make sure the misguided youngster isn’t tried in Iraq, because he might be executed. And also prevented from drawing his social benefits.

OK, so I made that last part up. But still…

Iraqi murder suspect arrested in Iraq — Swedish prosecutor wants to bring him here

November 13, 2022

A 35-year-old man who was wanted for a suspected murder in Vivalla in Örebro in 2018 has been arrested in Iraq. The arrest reportedly occurred a year ago, and the Swedish prosecutor has attempted to get Iraq to extradite the man to Sweden.

The 35-year-old suspect is an Iraqi citizen, and therefore Iraq wants to try him itself.

But the Swedish prosecutor doesn’t think that is a good idea. If the man is convicted of the crime in Iraq, he risks the death penalty — something that the Swedish prosecutor doesn’t want to participate in.

The prosecutor tells P4 Örebro [Sweden Radio] that he has lifted the order for extradition from Iraq and now hopes the suspected man will be released and go to another country — to be arrested there instead.

The prosecutor — who was previously the preliminary investigative leader in the (Olaf) Palme investigation — would rather see the suspected murderer set free than be sentenced in his homeland of Iraq.
