Helloooo from Frigidaire

There was a small ice storm the other night and we’ve been without electricity for what is beginning to seem like ages.

There’s some power left in this laptop – enough to let everyone know that’s the reaon we are not on line. At the moment, we have no heat, no lights, and no water. We do have a phone however…thus this post can slooowly wend its way out via dial-up.

The Baron lugged in a smelly kerosene heater from the storage shed so we’re not freezing – yet. And we keep bottled water and food supplies on hand so we shouldn’t waste away before the electric co-operative figures out which tree is lying across which line and fixes things.

Yesterday the ice melted and the B went to get Chinese food (what do you eat when your hands are turning to icicles?)

The next time you hear from us, things will have returned to their normal humdrum routine and this will simply be “hey, remember the Saint Valentine’s Day Freeze of ’07?” If I had enough battery power I’d tell you about the real ice storm in ’94. But that tale will have to wait until warmer times.

Now I must go find my coat…this down comforter makes it hard to move.

Should the world end, no doubt someone will call us. By then, the news may even come as a relief. At least it won’t be freezing anymore.

Our main concern is tonight. It’s supposed to go about fifteen degrees below freezing before daylight and that doesn’t bode well for the pump, which may freeze with water in its veins. Not good.

The Baron — gentleman that he is — wants me to go to a hotel in Li’l Kumquat while he stays here to keep the pipes from freezing. But I’m going down with the ship, thank you just the same.

Stay warm, wherever you are! And don’t worry: the top of the kerosene heater makes great coffee. In fact, I may be able to cook bacon and eggs later on.

Are Swedes Idiots?

The Baltic pipelineI wrote last December about the gas pipeline which Russia is building along the floor of the Baltic Sea to Germany, bypassing the former Soviet Bloc countries of Central and Eastern Europe. It is designed to give the Russians a way to put the squeeze on their recalcitrant neighbors in the “near abroad”, all the while keeping their good friends in Germany and Western Europe fat and happy on cheap Russian gas.

Part of the pipeline will pass close by the Swedish island of Gotland, and the accompanying platform has made Sweden somewhat apprehensive about the time-honored Russian tradition of spying on its neighbors.

Now Russia’s ambassador to Sweden has taken off the kid gloves when dealing to his Swedish hosts. The indefatigable Kepiblanc has translated this article from today’s Svenska Dagbladet:

Ambassador criticizes Swedish debate

Alexander M. KadakinRussia’s ambassador to Sweden, Alexander Kadakin, rather harshly comments on the way the discussions on the planned Russian-German gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea have been conducted.

The project includes a planned support platform a few miles off the coast of Gotland, among other things.

“The debate on this platform has reached an idiotic level, yes, pure idiocy, when some people claim that the supporting platform will become some sort of spy central directed against Sweden,” he says to Swedish Broadcasting Company’s Ekoredaktion.

Kadakin says, that he doesn’t understand “what kind of idiot could claim so in his reports to his Swedish superiors.”

– – – – – – – – – –

If Russia had any interest in gaining intelligence about Sweden — according to the ambassador — “we already have satellites which can, in realtime, read the license plates in every street of Stockholm”.

Kadakin emphasizes that Russians are not suicidal.

“We are people who think realistically. One often forgets that Russia is a Baltic state. We aren’t idiots who will poison our own ocean; we live there as well.” he says to Ekot.

If the Swedes were already nervous about Russian electronic eavesdropping, I doubt the ambassador’s words have done anything to soothe their anxieties.

Such undiplomatic phrasing — do you think he was hitting the Putinka bottle just before the interview? Or maybe it was just the local snaps

Political Naïveté

Babes in the woodsI’ve written here recently about the new Danish anti-Islamization movement and political party called SIAD. If you visit SIAD’s website, you’ll notice that they cite 620,000 as the number of Muslims in Denmark.

Last night Fjordman sent me the following message:

I got an email from Danish newspaper columnist and Islam critic Lars Hedegaard, President of the Danish Free Press Society. I respect him greatly. He has been one of the leading forces for many years behind making tiny Denmark into one of the leaders of the anti-Jihad resistance.

He has read the story about the political party “Stop the Islamization of Denmark,” SIAD. According to Mr. Hedegaard, he did a very thorough review of just how many Muslims were legal residents of Denmark in January 2004, and found the number of Muslims in the country to be less than 200,000, which is a lot less than the numbers mentioned by SIAD. I personally believe we should also be wary of inflating the number of Muslims, which CAIR is consciously doing in the United States.

Mr. Hedegaard also notes that SIAD are considered to be politically naïve by many of the more established Islam critics. For this reason, even though they will of course defend their right to hold meetings and speak their mind, many people will be reluctant to cooperate with them too closely.

I think Fjordman is right — anti-Islamic groups all across Europe are inflating the numbers of Muslims. I did a couple of posts about the numbers of Muslims in Europe, and Daniel Pipes has written on the topic, too. On this side of the Atlantic, CAIR inflates the number of Muslims in the USA order to create political leverage. In Europe, the numbers are exaggerated by anti-Islamization groups alarmed by the inroads that Islam has made into Europe.
– – – – – – – – – –
Using CAIR’s inflations as a guideline, I tried to guess how many Muslims there might really be in Europe. The figures I came up with were lower — much lower in certain cases — than some of the numbers being thrown around by various European counterjihad sites.

I managed to annoy some of our European readers — Danes, Swedes, and others. They claim the numbers in their countries are much higher. Of course, they have no authoritative statistical sources to back up their numbers — no one does. Various arguments supporting the higher estimates can be made, but in the end it’s just a gut feeling.

It’s very difficult to determine the real numbers, because Muslim children born to non-natives in the host country are listed as “Danes”, “Swedes”, etc., in most censuses, and tallying by religion is not permitted. France keeps no statistics whatsoever on these matters. This means that Europeans — who are already so accustomed to the quotidian lies and obfuscations issued by their own governments and the EU — have no faith in any official figures. As a result they create their own estimates, either low or high, depending on their political inclinations.

We do our cause a disservice if we put out information without reliable sources. If the information is later discredited, then all the issues we’re fighting for are also discredited. Out goes the baby with the bathwater.

What really counts is the ongoing dhimmification of our countries, as spearheaded by our craven and corrupt political leaders. From this point of view, it doesn’t matter whether there are three Muslims in Denmark or three million. What matters to the Danes is their right to live according to the rule of law and their own traditions. No matter how many Muslims there are in a country, none of the following should be allowed:

  • The censorship of speech in order to avoid giving religious offense to Muslims.
  • Inciting violence against unbelievers or apostates.
  • The separation of men and women in any public facilities.
  • The alteration of the menu in public institutions to accommodate Muslim dietary laws.
  • Instruction of schoolchildren in any language other than the official language of the country.
  • The forcible marriage of women to men they do not want to marry.
  • The complete covering of the face in any circumstances where law or administration needs to prohibit it.
  • The obstruction of law enforcement by rules against “profiling”.

These issues are clear, simple, and governed by common sense. They don’t depend on how many Muslims live in a country. They only require that countries strengthen their spines, support their traditional constitutions, and enforce the laws that already exist.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

What appeals to me about SIAD is their political naïveté; that is, their fresh and straightforward message. They’re law-abiding, non-violent, and non-Nazi in their orientation, which is good. Their mission aligns very closely with that of the 910 Group. They have set themselves a clear, reasonable, and humane goal, and they’re moving towards it with great optimism and enthusiasm.

Yes, they are politically naive. But that’s not surprising; they’re just starting out.

I’m a naïf myself. So are most of us in the Counterjihad. We have to be, because anybody who is politically savvy won’t touch these issues with a ten foot pole. If they do, the lockstep media will demonize them as “racists” and “Islamophobes”, and kill their political careers.

As a result, we’ve been effectively abandoned by our political leaders. We’re on our own, babes in the woods. The naïve will just have to carry the load themselves.

And we are Islamophobes — but with good reason. You’re bound to be an Islamophobe if you watch what’s happening in Beslan or Sydney, in Rinkeby or Clichy-Sous-Bois, in Leeds or Dearborn, in Thailand, Kashmir, Lebanon, Gaza, Nigeria, Sudan, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Islamophobia is a rational response to current events. If you’re not an Islamophobe, you’re not paying attention.

If SIAD’s message resonates, it will help change the political culture and make real resistance to Islam possible in Denmark, and in other Western countries as well. People with political experience will then adopt parts of the Counterjihad’s program, and begin to enact it.

That’s why I gave SIAD a little free publicity. We have to start somewhere if the Counterjihad is ever going to gain any traction in the political sphere, and SIAD seems as good a place as any.

Clouds and Cosmic Rays… oh, and Denmark (of course)

We can’t seem to get out of the Danish trajectory here.

Cosmic raysNotice of the Dane’ experiments on the factors in global warning can be seen at M. Simon’s post Monday morning post, which concerns global warming – specifically the generation of clouds.

Wait! I see your eyes glazing over, but it’s-not-what-you-think-it-is. Honest Injun! (yeah, it is politically incorrect, but a handy term nonetheless. Find a Sioux to sue me. Or maybe one of the Mattaponi to be offended. Which they won’t be as long as you spell the name right. Meanwhile…)

Mr. Simon quotes a Timesonline discussion of the rôle the sun plays and how its actions affect cosmic rays, which in turn affect the above-mentioned clouds…or sometimes, the lack of them. No recycled pc pap here:

Disdain for the sun goes with a failure by the self-appointed greenhouse experts to keep up with inconvenient discoveries about how the solar variations control the climate. The sun’s brightness may change too little to account for the big swings in the climate. But more than 10 years have passed since Henrik Svensmark in Copenhagen first pointed out a much more powerful mechanism.

He saw from compilations of weather satellite data that cloudiness varies according to how many atomic particles are coming in from exploded stars. More cosmic rays, more clouds. The sun’s magnetic field bats away many of the cosmic rays, and its intensification during the 20th century meant fewer cosmic rays, fewer clouds, and a warmer world. On the other hand the Little Ice Age was chilly because the lazy sun let in more cosmic rays, leaving the world cloudier and gloomier.

The only trouble with Svensmark’s idea — apart from its being politically incorrect — was that meteorologists denied that cosmic rays could be involved in cloud formation. After long delays in scraping together the funds for an experiment, Svensmark and his small team at the Danish National Space Center hit the jackpot in the summer of 2005.

You’ll have to go over to Mr. Simon’s website to see how the Danes figured it out.

Way cool – or not, depending on the lazy sun.

Why Thank You Kindly, Mr. Pappas

Jason Pappas, at Liberty and Culture, has some nice things to say about Gates of Vienna.

Over at Gates of Vienna, the dynamic duo has been blogging on the anti-Islamic resistance in … Denmark. There may be those that would write-off Europe as hopelessly submissive in the face of the Islamic threat (i.e. Mark Steyn) or fearful that Europe will become a repeat of the 1930s (i.e. Ralph Peters). A more likely course of action is emerging in Denmark.

Imagine being favorably compared to Mark Steyn! Obviously, “Liberty and Culture” is a most discerning blog. Umm… could somebody tell Mark Steyn?

I do declare, “dynamic duo” is going to swell my head, Mr. Pappas.

I don’t know remember exactly we stumbled upon that remarkabley idiosyncratic country. It must have been when I first read the review of Queen Margrethe II’s biography. Last time I checked, the book is still not available in English, unfortunately.

This is an amazingly forthright woman. Back in April, 2005, she was saying out loud what others were only able to whisper: [emphases are mine – D]

COPENHAGEN — Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II warned against the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Denmark and the world in a new book out on Thursday, saying people must on occasion “show their opposition to Islam”.

“It is a challenge we have to take seriously. We have let this issue float about for too long because we are tolerant and very lazy,” she said in the authorized biography “Margrethe” written by journalist Annelise Bistrup.

While she did not specifically refer to fundamentalism, she spoke of “these people for whom religion is their entire lives”.

“We have to show our opposition to Islam and we have to, at times, run the risk of having unflattering labels placed on us because there are some things for which we should display no tolerance,“ she said.

And when we are tolerant, we must know whether it is because of convenience or conviction,“ added the queen, who has reigned since 1972…

Denmark has in recent years been accused of fuelling xenophobic tendencies after implementing a slew of measures aimed at curbing immigration. The government has argued that it wants to focus efforts on improving the assimilation into Danish society of immigrants already in the country.

Queen Margrethe, who professes a knowledge of Islam due to her interest in archaeology, said it was “natural that young Muslims would be attracted” to the faith’s absolute values and seek refuge in religion “as they are cut off from our community because of their lack of (Danish) language skills.”

“It’s not just a matter of speaking and understanding” Danish, she said, but also “understanding the language’s codes, and we have to help them.

[Calling Queen Elizabeth, calling Britannia’s Majesty. Come in Your Majesty, come in. Hellooo?? Anybody home?]

Though not by design, we’ve been in a Denmark groove ever since. Of course, they did put themselves on the map with “those” cartoons. And now they’re determined to push the envelope with their novel traffic control ideas.

A strange and wonderful place is Denmark — not a place for the faint-hearted.

Sheikh Gilani’s Money Pipeline

Khadijah GhafurKhadijah Ghafur is a follower of Sheikh Gilani, the Pakistani founder of the Muslims of America and Jamaat ul-Fuqra. She herself established the Jamaat ul-Fuqra compound known as “Baladullah” in rural California. Last August a California Superior Court judge sentenced her to fourteen years in prison for embezzling money from a chain of charter schools that she established.

It was a classic Fuqra operation — scam the government for a lot of cash, and then use it… for what?

The Mercury News has been investigating that exact question:

Where did the money go?

The answer could lie in evidence never introduced in court. The Mercury News has learned of several overseas fund transfers, a mysterious letter and a web of connections between Ghafur and an obscure Pakistani cleric known as Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Gilani.

Supporters say Gilani is a charitable teacher and spiritual leader who promotes self-improvement. But over the years, state and federal authorities have described him as the head of an international terrorist group who draws financial support from followers in the United States.

Ghafur was a shrewd operator. The charter school business looked like a golden opportunity to her:
– – – – – – – – – –

Ghafur, the community’s matriarch, had lofty ideas and a knack for getting people to embrace them. She impressed Fresno school officials in 1998 with her plans for a charter school serving low-income families.

California was then in the vanguard of a national movement. New rules opened the door for community groups to create schools and operate them with public funds.

“We all wanted to believe in what they were doing, what they said they intended to do,” said Marilyn Shepherd, then-director of charter schools with the Fresno district.

Ghafur opened the first Gateway Academy charter school in Fresno in 2000. There was another campus housed in a ramshackle building at Baladullah.

In less than a year, Ghafur had built an empire of a dozen campuses around the state, mostly by affiliating with existing private schools. In official documents, Gateway projected a 2001-02 enrollment of 1,400 students.

The number would never reach more than half that.

[…]

Fresno school district officials, meanwhile, were becoming concerned. A Gateway campus had reported 100 percent attendance — a rarity at any school — on a day when Shepherd visited and found the classrooms closed. Gateway also was reporting an unexplained operating deficit of $1.3 million. Fresno officials asked the state Department of Justice for help.

The assignment went to Special Agent Thomas Win, a veteran white-collar crime investigator based in Fresno. Win, 46, is genial and intensely focused, the kind of cop who favors Hawaiian shirts on his own time but wears a crisp suit and tie to work. It didn’t take him long to discover that Ghafur had 29 bank accounts. To him, the sheer number signaled that someone might be moving money around surreptitiously.

Poring through records with a forensic accountant, Win found evidence that Ghafur used money from the school to repay debts, including loans for the purchase of Baladullah and other property.

The evidence would persuade a jury in July 2006 to convict Ghafur on 13 counts of grand theft, misappropriation, fraud and tax evasion.

But there was a lot more money unaccounted for.

The number of accounts and the flow of money made Win suspect “structuring” — an illegal ploy to move large sums without detection, by keeping individual transactions below $10,000, the minimum level before banks must report to the federal government.

But it was the destination that raised Win’s eyebrows. Ghafur had transferred the money to her husband, Salih Ghafur, in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Anyone who studies Sheikh Gilani notices that the man likes money. Lots of it. According to sources, members of Jamaat ul-Fuqra are required to send thirty percent of their income to their spiritual master in Pakistan. Tithing is not good enough for the sheikh!

Sheikh Gilani also has a thriving online business selling his tapes and books, complete with Paypal and shopping carts.

So what does he use all that money for?

Analysts who study the Alice in Wonderland world of Pakistani extremist groups say Gilani has supported Muslim insurgents in the disputed Chinese-Pakistani-Indian region of Kashmir. In recruiting videos from the 1980s, seized by authorities, Gilani boasted that he provided “highly specialized training in guerrilla warfare” and encouraged anyone interested in joining to contact the Muslims of the Americas.

Which brings us right back to Charlotte County, Virginia, and the Muslims of America compound in Red House. This part might sound familiar to the people of Charlotte County:

Baladullah wasn’t just a residential enclave, though about 100 men, women and children lived there in mobile homes. It’s unclear whether everyone there was a Gilani follower, and some would later deny that Baladullah was officially connected to Gilani. But a sign out front announced it was also a campus of International Qur’anic Open University, the educational arm of Gilani’s movement.

Although the nearest neighbor was miles away, the property was surrounded by a fence and occasionally guarded by young men with guns.

Regular readers of this blog know this setup. It’s the standard modus operandi for Jamaat ul-Fuqra.

Here are some words about Sheikh Gilani’s people that the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors might want to ponder:

In an internal planning document, the Department of Homeland Security listed Jamaat ul-Fuqra in 2005 among a handful of U.S.-based Islamist organizations that “require continued monitoring.”

The document, first disclosed by Congressional Quarterly, said Ul-Fuqra has 1,000 to 3,000 members and “continues to conceal its activities and prepare itself for a possible confrontation with U.S. authorities.” [emphasis added]

The leader of this group has a road named after him in Charlotte County. The Board of Supervisors voted last week to affirm that name and retain it on the county road sign.

The Sheikh lives well enough on his American cash cow. But he has other uses for the money as well:

Canadian authorities say Ul-Fuqra leaders are actively recruiting North Americans “to send regular donations in support of Fuqra jihad activities in Kashmir,” according to a classified Canadian government report quoted by the National Post newspaper in June.

“It is very clear” that Gilani gets money from his American followers “for supporting Kashmiri militants and establishing the network of the Qur’anic University,” said Mohammad Amir Rana, who tracks extremist groups for a Lahore think tank, the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies.

So the money trail leads from the pockets of American taxpayers through the members of Jamaat ul-Fuqra in the United States into the hawala network and eventually gets to Sheikh Gilani in Pakistan, where it is put to good use slaughtering infidels in Kashmir. Blowing up buses and schools. Kidnapping. Massacring entire villages. Ethnic cleansing.

Nice call, Charlotte County.

Sneaking Islamization

This has turned into an all-Danish weekend.

I’ve previously written about a Danish counterjihad group called SIAD, “Stop the Islamization of Denmark”. SIAD has been harassed and even subjected to violence in its opposition to creeping sharia within Denmark. It is being vilified as a reactionary and racist hate group.

Anders GraversAnd now SIAD has become a political party. Anders Gravers, the founder of the group, emailed me today with the translation of SIAD’s mission statement and the “who we are” section of the SIAD website.

I’ve often said that Denmark is way ahead of the rest of the West, and can serve as a model of how to handle an aggressive and expansionist Islam. The model can’t be applied in all respects — Denmark is a tiny country with a homogeneous native population — but some of its strategies can be adapted by other countries.

Denmark is a representative democracy with a written constitution and the rule of law. It respects the rights of free speech and assembly. Under those constraints, SIAD is proposing a series of steps to deal with the encroachment of Islam.

You can read what SIAD has to say below.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

Our mission

Although it should be unnecessary to mention it, we do so for the sake of clarity: We believe in our mission!

Holger DanskeOur conviction is not based on naive imagination, nor on arrogance, nor on a lack of realism. On the contrary, it comes from a deep feeling of responsibility for our children and descendants, and for our country in general. We are of the opinion that our country is in peril, as stated in the old poem about Holger Danske. To us this famous poem means that when our country is faced with a real dilemma, the Dane (the personification of the original people) will show his true face and rise from his chair and do what has to be done.

We feel this vocation very deeply, hearing the call for help from our ancestral home. Someone has to do something before it is too late. Now is the time, as it is five minutes to twelve! Unfortunately, we cannot count on any help or leadership from our governing politicians, and therefore we have decided that this “someone” should be us, SIAD. Nobody else seems to have thought about getting involved.

A winning cause

Another important reason for us to be sure of our mission is that we know we have a winning cause. We are convinced that justice will be done, if not today, then tomorrow.

In this way, we are exactly as decisive and firm in our fight for Denmark as are our opponents among the Islamists (and their tools, the useful idiots) in their fight against Denmark. We know the forbearance and kindness of the Danish people. “We want peace in this country” — as we sing on the Midsummer eve — but there will come a time for all of us when we cannot put up with any more. And that time has already come! Thus we have decided to ignore all the divisions normally separating public movements into political parties, and rise up in a common front against the Islamic occupying power. Therefore we urge the Danish people to join the Danish Unity Party, the ideal of which is to recreate the same sense of community that they experienced during the former occupation of this country.
– – – – – – – – – –
SIADConsequently, SIAD has no political profile except for the fact that we want to stop the process which leads Denmark toward an Islamic dictatorship.

Such an ambition is certainly not non-political, but it does not include any defined positions on financial, cultural and environmental politics, or any other conventional political doctrines. We trust the politicians with such subjects, since they are much more qualified than we are to sit and talk for hours at meetings. However, what we intend to do is to get into Parliament in order to secure the basis for the discussions about environmental, financial, cultural topics, etc., because such topics will not be allowed under an Islamic theocracy. When that day comes one will simply be required to ask the leading imam about the principles of the sharia on the subject in question. Any subsequent discussion will be understood — and punished — as heresy.

An arrangement as described above shall never be tolerated by the Danish people. Of this we are certain. Therefore we also know that we are right — on a totally democratic basis — and if we win we do it by way of democracy.

Confidence is positive

The Danish people have an extremely high degree of confidence in their elected politicians. In addition, our degree of confidence in each other is among the highest in the world.

This confidence in our society brings about a rather unconventional public stance towards the authorities, but at the same time a very strong consensus of attitude, too, due to our fundamental confidence in the political system.

Because of this implicit orthodoxy we believe that those who have been given the task of taking care of the interests of our country must do their utmost. That is, purely and simply, what we expect. And we have no doubt that each of them will do their utmost in this respect. None of our politicians, public servants, or other persons in honorary offices should want to act in bad faith and thereby put our country in jeopardy. They are convinced that they do the right thing when they sell off the assets of our country. They believe that they do their country and their people a favour if they buy “peace” by paying for the mixing of our society with the entire world population.

They really believe that it is possible to have a dialog with religious fanatics, that it is possible to talk reason with an Islamist, and that Danish values concerning welfare and democracy are universal blessings which everybody would strive to be part of.

That is what they have learned in the “school of decency”, at universities and by training within their political parties. They are so convinced that the Danish model is just as beautiful, seaworthy and impossible to sink as the Titanic, that they completely ignore the danger towards which the country is now heading.

We have a clear vision that Denmark is heading for the same fate as that of the beautiful ship which sailed to its death with drums and flags and on full steam.

The blunder was — and is — due to a state of self-important drunkenness brought about by their fantastic voyage. They totally neglect to keep their eyes on the dangers for which they are directly heading.

Be on guard!

At the risk of acting as wet blankets at the party of respectable citizens, we take the liberty to point out the danger of the sneaking (now gradually becoming obvious) Islamization of this country. Therefore, we take every opportunity to issue a “call to arms”.

This initiative finds expression in various actions and press campaigns in which we point out, lay open, and show the dangers for Danish society caused by the increasing Islamization. Our aim is to awaken the Danish people. The politicians in power have long ago shown their deafness towards warnings about Islamization. The only way to awaken these people is to punish them on election day for their irresponsibility.

In Parliament

As a consequence of the lack of political leadership in Denmark in general, and within the Government in particular (not meeting the increasing Islamization of Denmark), the resistance group “Stop islamiseringen af Danmark” (SIAD) has decided to stand for Parliament.

In Parliament our only cause shall be to fight for Denmark to remain a secure home for Danes with a democratic, open, and tolerant attitude. In Parliament — as well as outside of Parliament — we shall fight every initiative to sell out Danish values to the Islamic power. This fight shall be carried out within the law, of course, as we still have the law on our side. However, if the Islamists attain their objective, democratic and freedom-loving organizations and movements like ours shall be prohibited. Should we end in such a situation, the battle to recover the control of our country will be harder. Thus we must strike while the iron is hot — while we still have the law on our side.

Therefore, we insist that the Danish Constitution be kept and respected. Not one single comma is misplaced.

Your help

If you agree that Denmark should remain a free and democratic society based on respect and confidence, you can do something about it by letting SIAD be your representative in Parliament.

And we shall see to it that something happens — be sure of that!

Actions speak louder than words!

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

Who is SIAD?

  • We are a political party whose purpose is to keep the Constitution of the Kingdom of Denmark
  • We support the Danish democracy as we know it today
  • We fight anything and anyone who will limit Danish sovereignty
  • We consider ourselves to be the only active resistance group against Islam.

We are a just group of ordinary citizens who have become very tired of the sneaking Islamization of Danish society.

Within a short time (30 years) this country, which has been the home of the Danish people for thousands of years, has been moving — slowly but surely — towards an Islamic society governed by Islamic law.

Researchers at the University of Copenhagen, after conducting population studies, have calculated that the ethnic Danes (the original population) will become a very small minority in their own country by the end of this century.

And, since according to the Koran the Muslims are not allowed to marry Christians or people from other religions — unless these convert to Islam — and since the Muslims are the fastest-growing population group in Denmark, the future majority will consequently consist of sympathizers with Islam.

Future Denmark?

The sneaking Islamization has come about because a minority has shouted so loudly that nice Danish people are now organizing the Danish society according to Islamic law. In this country, which is so proud of being a pioneer for sexual equality, it now seems that in several swimming baths women and men can no longer swim at the same time, and that it is now permissible to divide the halls between men and women at Islamic meetings in municipal buildings. This country, which has so far made a good profit from worldwide pork exports, is now forced to serve meat only from halal-slaughtered animals to their new generation in the Copenhagen kindergartens. Pork is excluded, to the annoyance of Christians and Buddhists — and Hindus, too, who are not allowed to eat beef.

Denmark, which is famous worldwide for its beautiful women and its broad-mindedness, has now got a sharia police force (groups of young muslims) who annoy Danes who are naked on the Sealand beaches, and in general harass young girls who are alone on the beach, because it is against Islamic law.

Islamization has really increased

Islamization has really increased since the Muhammed cartoon crisis. In the aftermath of the crisis the politically correct press has given its approval to the regulations of the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement (read here), which states that nice syrupy stories about Muslims should incessantly be told to the Danes in order to integrate the latter into the future Muslim society.

Never before have we seen and heard so much talk about Muslims in TV and radio as we do now. The most recent incident was DR 2’s stroke of genius in hiring Asmaa Absol-Hamid as TV host wearing a scarf (hijab). A slap in the face for all those people in Denmark working for sexual equality! A stroke of genius because nobody dares to remove her now, since this might cause a new clash with misogynistic Islam. An inevitable clash because this Asmaa Abdol-Hamid was among the first to complain of the Muhammed cartoons and thus is to be blamed herself for the crisis Denmark had to face.

From Borgerliste [list of citizens’ signatures for obtaining representation in the city council] to a political party

Summa summarum: All the above points are what we call a “sneaking Islamization” of Danish society. Because we would not tolerate this development, we established the Borgerliste “Stop the Islamization of Denmark” which ran in the local election in Ålborg. We got 2% of the votes, which was not enough to get us into the local council. However, 1300 votes represent a lot of people of the same opinion as ours. This encouraged us to change the Borgerliste “Stop the Islamization of Denmark” into a political party against the sneaking Islamization of our country.

Now our goal is not to stop until Denmark has banned the parts of the Koran prescribing that the unbelievers shall be harassed, tortured, and killed. This is not a war between civilizations, as argued by some people, but a war between a stone age religion and modern civilization.

We shall not accept a cultural decline of the Danish people and their country just because of a gang of frightened politicians.

Denmark Irredenta

I was flattered on Wednesday when a Swedish blogger named Knute, who keeps a blog called “Every Kinda People”, linked approvingly to my recent post about the Danish Model.

Danish reader Kepiblanc kindly volunteered a translation of the first two paragraphs:

As I wrote in an earlier post, one of the differences between Sweden and Denmark is that the German occupation during the Second World War had the effect that Danes will not tolerate being pushed around and harassed.

But there is more than one explanation as to why it’s no longer the Swedish, but the Danish model the world is talking about:

The third paragraph of his post is a translation into Swedish of part of my essay. It’s the first occasion, to my knowledge, that anything at Gates of Vienna has been translated into a foreign language. A momentous occasion!

Skåne

When I referred to Knute as a Swede, I was not being completely accurate. Knute lives in Sydsverige, or “South Sweden”, also known as Skåne or Scania. Until 1658 Skåne was a part of Denmark, but after Karl X Gustav of Sweden defeated the Danes in the First Northern War, Skåne became a Swedish possession.
– – – – – – – – – –
The Treaty of Roskilde in 1658 and the Treaties of Oliwa and København in 1660 codified the new arrangement. Skåne remained Swedish, and throughout the latter half of the 17th century the Swedish crown relentlessly “swedified” the province, attempting to erase any cultural affinity with Denmark.

The Treaty of Oliwa, 1660

But Skåne was never really fully integrated. To this day the people of Skåne are regarded by the “real” Swedes of the northern counties as not quite Swedish. They are thought to possess at least some of the notoriously lax and distasteful Danish traits.

The history of Skåne is somewhat glossed over by the Swedish tourist bureau, Sverigeturism:

The peace treaty of Roskilde 1658, when Skåne came under the sovereignty of Sweden’s king Karl X Gustav , signalled a period of harsh “swedeification” of the province, which was to last beyond 1700. Although the nobility was quick in pledging allegiance to the King of Sweden (in exchange for being allowed to keep their estates) most of the population of Skåne felt more Danish than Swedish. The Danes tried to recapture Skåne but failed when King Karl XI won the battle in 1676 (Lund) over the Danes.

Some Danish websites are more vehement about the history of the region. According to The Copenhagen Post:

No More Lies: The Blood Truth About Skane, Halland and Blekinge

For the past 300 years Swedish and Danish historians have overlooked the tragic history of south-western Sweden.

Traditional costume of Scania“The Swedish historians have lied, and the Danish ones have repressed their own history,” says amateur Swedish historian, Uno Röndahl, about the history of Skåne, Halland and Blekinge — the three principalities of Sweden that lie directly across the Øresund Strait from Copenhagen. “People don’t know that these lands were once part of Denmark, and that the people who lived here were Danes. Nor do they know that the Swedish kings practiced genocide on the population of these regions in order to stamp out any signs of Denmark and force Skåne, Halland and Blekinge into being Swedish.” Now with the bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden through this region, Röndahl says it is time for the truth to be told.

For over a thousand years, Skåne, Halland and Blekinge belonged to Denmark. In fact in the days of King Christian IV the regions were considered to be the mainland part of the country, a distinction that has since shifted over to the Jutland Peninsula. Looking at a map of Scandinavia, the importance of the regions in relationship to the rest of Denmark might not seem at first logical. Situated at the very tip of the Swedish Peninsula, Skåne, Halland and Blekinge seem naturally part of the Swedish nation; however, if one looks closer it is easy to see that, with the exception of Zealand itself, these lands are closer to Copenhagen than the Jutland penisula. In fact, one of the principle reasons for moving the Danish capital from the city of Roskilde east to Copenhagen was to situate the government in a more central position in relation to the rest of the lands of Denmark, and yet Danish history books make only cursory mention of the regions importance.

“I believe the reason Denmark represses the history of the region is due to the trauma it suffered,” Röndahl says. “Much in the way a raped woman tries to forget the agony she has gone through, Denmark turned its back on its former lands.”

It’s strange to picture Sweden — known nowadays as the quintessentially pacifist nation — as a militaristic and aggressive European power. But it is only by some quirk of fate that Germany aspired to form the great Nordic Reich, and not Sweden. An objective observer in 1700 would certainly have placed his bets on the Swedes over the Germans as the future hegemons of northern Europe.

The most prominent city in Skåne is Malmö, which grew up in the Middle Ages around the place where the Archbishop of Lund berthed his ship. It has become notorious in recent years for having the most intractably unassimilated population of Muslim immigrants of any European city north of Paris.

So how do the Danes feel about “Denmark Irredenta”? Given the current situation in the urban parts of Skåne — the immigrants, the violence, and the multiculturalism — would they want it back?

They might just as readily say, “No thanks, Sweden. It’s OK — you can keep it.”

A Stirring in the Forest

Sometime late last night Redneck Texan dropped by yesterday’s post about the frightened people of Charlotte County. He left a very cogent comment, part of which is excerpted below:

The MinutemanThe American spirit that our ancestors harnessed to conquer this continent lies somewhat dormant today, especially in certain regions of America. Our ancestors woke up in a world every morning where there were other groups of humans in the woods with a uncompromising violent warrior ideology looking to butcher our families. In an environment like that you couldn’t afford to let political correctness dictate your responses. You couldn’t wait for the authorities to come protect you. You had to be willing to take responsibility for your family’s survival into your own hands, and if that meant you had to use your technological and tactical superiority in a preemptive use of locally organized violence, local law enforcement would understand. But the further the threat was pushed away from the backyards of the northeast political elite the easier it was for them to legislate a conscience.

Nowadays, at least until the next major attack on our shores, the good people of Charlotte County are simply reacting the way that they have been programmed to for generations now. For starters they know our system of justice is efficient enough to imprison them if they get caught defending their culture in an extra-judicial manner, but not effective enough to protect them from a local group of committed extremists adhering to a violent religious doctrine.

Mr. Texan, I would agree: the spirit of the Minuteman is dormant. But it is beginning to stir. So is Holger Danske, for that matter.

The biggest problem for the sons of liberty is that the means of public communication have been strangled, so that like-minded people who detest the erosion of their liberties are cut off from one another, unaware of how many of us there are.

But all that is changing even now.

The partisans are stirring in the forest.

The Media Sinks One from the Free Throw Line

This is from last week, but worth a note in passing:

A snip from Donald Luskin’s blog, The Conspiracy to Keep You Poor and Stupid:

BIAS? NOPE. NOT HERE. NO WAY!

The lede from an AP “news” story…:

WASHINGTON — The House passed a $463.5 billion spending bill Wednesday that covers about one-sixth of the federal budget as Democrats cleared away the financial mess they inherited from Republicans.

Anyone want to bet that Paul “I -Was-Right-Once-in-1969” Krugman will be singing a happy tune now that the Dems are in charge again? All those dirges he was forced to compose during the Republican reign will now be transmogrified into versions of “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”…and the information base will be exactly the same.

Amazing how he manages to mangle the statistics for his own personal pleasure. Kind of embarrassing to see him do it in public, though.

Krugman will eventually join the Greatest Hits of The New York Times. He’ll be right up there with Walter Duranty and Jayson Blair.

Running Scared in Red House

The Muslims of AmericaAs I reported on Wednesday, the Christian Action Network is planning a demonstration on February 20th in Charlotte Court House against the “Sheikh Gilani Lane” road sign at the Muslims of America (a.k.a. Jamaat ul-Fuqra) compound in Red House, Virginia.

But CAN is having ploblems attracting local Charlotte County people to the demonstration. Folks will be coming in from the adjacent counties and Lynchburg, but not from right there in Charlotte County. As Martin Mawyer, the president of Christian Action Network, told me, “The people over there are scared of those guys. They have to live next to them all the time, and they know that there are some bad people down there at the Red House compound. So they just don’t want to get involved.”

I have an acquaintance — I’ll call him Ray — who lives in southern Appomattox County, which is just to the north of Charlotte County. He in turn has a friend in Red House who lives on Rolling Hill Road, a short distance away from the JF compound.

I know that Ray and his friend are both hardy good ol’ boys, the kind of guys who are comfortable with firearms, and not easily intimidated. So I called Ray this afternoon to see if he could help me locate some Charlotte County residents who might be willing to show up at the courthouse on the 20th.

When I asked him about his friend who lives on Rolling Hill Road, a note of apprehension crept into Ray’s voice.

“Yeah, he used to be all gung-ho and say things like ‘we’re not going to put up with this crap’ — he was all ready to take ’em on. But not long ago he ran into one of those Muslims down at the convenience store [at the corner of Rolling Hill Road and SR 727] and got into an argument. And would you believe, that sucker went to his van and pulled an assault rifle on him. Ever since then he’s been keeping a low profile — he doesn’t want anything else to happen to him, so he’s laying low.”

This is a textbook example of mau-mauing in action. But it’s the most hardcore example of mau-mauing I’ve ever personally heard of.

The Great Jihad operates by stealth. The knife at the throat is not its primary weapon of aggression; it prefers to erode our defenses incrementally, using social pressure, legal action, media manipulation, subversion, and good old-fashioned intimidation.

Yesterday Christine from the 910 Group sent me the following in an email:

So now the [Charlotte County] Board of Supervisors has voted to honor one of the worst known terrorists with a commemorative road sign. Their chances of replacing the 450 lost textile jobs, or attracting tourism or new businesses just fell — they’re losing jobs, having to replace tobacco, and have an aging population. And now, to solve all their problems, they’ve decided to coddle Jamaat ul Fuqra. They’ve attained the distinction of being the one county to officially honor Sheikh Gilani. It’s something to remember when Board elections come around again.

By voting to keep the sign, the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors has insulted the entire Commonwealth of Virginia, not just their own citizens.

We need to create a national focus on their idiocy — as long as they make it a local fight, they’re fighting on JF’s terms.

Now that they’ve voted, it just became a national fight. That is what the 910 Group is all about. These little local fights are NEVER local.

CAIR and similar organizations operate by attacking individuals. Islamofascists are hunters — they cull the weakest, only going after those who are away from the herd. Bullies only attack the weak

The trick is never again to be trapped into thinking that something is local and others can’t help. The Counterjihad is always global. When the Board voted to support that sign, they made this an international issue involving Pakistan, and not just a state issue that shames all Virginians.

Map of Charlotte CountyThe demonstration on the 20th will go ahead as planned, with or without Charlotte County residents.

On the very slight chance that someone who reads this blog is a Charlotte County resident, or knows a Charlotte County resident: see if you can find a retired marine, or a VFW member, or an Iraq war vet, or maybe an off-duty state cop. Someone who’s not easily intimidated by punks with weapons. Somebody who wants to stand up for this country before it turns into France.

Have that person make his presence known. The date is February 20th. The place is Charlotte County Courthouse, at the junction of VA 47 and VA 40, right in the heart of Southside Virginia.

Free Speech For Iraqis

Iraqis on TVKirk Parker sent us a link to this MEMRI video. It was originally shown on Al-Jazeera in Qatar on January 2nd, and MEMRI has provided the subtitles in English.

The program’s intent is to present a debate about Saddam Hussein between the owner of AI-Zawraa TV, Iraqi MP Mish’an AI-Jabouri, and Iraqi Journalist Sadeq Al-Musawi. But the discussion quickly gets out of hand, and makes “The O’Reilly Factor” look like a Sunday School discussion by comparison.

One of the two men is a Sunni supporter of Saddam, and the other is an Iraqi Shiite. They are unable to contain their rage even for a minute, and the program’s host seems completely unprepared for the free-for-all that develops.

Free speech in Iraq has been suppressed for centuries by despots. Now that it’s finally emerging, it’s not always a pretty sight.

And you can see why the rulers of Iraq wanted to suppress it in the first place: when it comes to the Sunnis and the Shiites, virtually all words are fighting words.

Slow Down! Watch Carefully!

Note: The material in this post is rated PG-13, but the linked article and video most assuredly are not. You have been warned!

The other day I remarked that the Danes have a great sense of humor, and some of our Swedish readers felt slighted — what about the Swedish sense of humor?

Danish speed limitOur frequent Danish correspondent Kepiblanc sent along his translation of an article in yesterday’s Politiken, which he thinks demonstrates that Swedes may in fact be somewhat humor-impaired — especially in comparison to those mischievous Danes.

The delightful video referred to in the story can be found here. It will confirm any stereotypes that you might already have about the Danes. [N.B.: the amphibian who appears in the photo at right was not in the original cast. He volunteered for hardship duty in order to help Gates of Vienna keep its PG-13 rating.]

Many male Danish drivers have indeed slowed down since the program started. Some to zero.

Swedes seething over Danish traffic-breasts

Topless girls and traffic security don’t go together, according to Swedish traffic researchers, who filed a complaint to Danish Traffic security Board

A sexy traffic-safety campaign from the Danish Board alerts Swedish traffic researchers

The Swedes are horrified by the campaign which features topless girls flashing traffic signs in order to make motorists drive in compliance with speed limits.

Viral marketing

The campaign started as an experiment last November when the Danish Board gave it a general release in cyberspace.

The movie “Speed Bandits” pretends to be a news flash, and so far it has been watched by more than seven million people all over the world — even in Vatican City.

After only two weeks on the web it became nominated as the most viral movie on the Internet by the webzine Contagious.

Viral marketing means that users forward the movie to friends, after which it spreads like lightning.

Total silence

Everybody on the net can easily see the humor, but not the participants of a traffic security conference in Linköping [Sweden] when seeing the movie.

“It goes without saying that the silence in the room was deafening”, says Helena Sederström, of the Swedish Road and Traffic Research Institute, to Aftonbladet.

The Institute has now filed a formal complaint to the Danish Board about not being warned about the nature of the campaign:

“To enhance traffic security by means of bare breasts isn’t something we can support. That’s why we’ve expressed our disappointment at not being informed about the release of the movie”, says Helena Sederström,

The campaign works

Danish speed limitThe Danish Board for Traffic Security regrets the Swedish reaction.

“It wasn’t our intention to hurt anyone’s feelings. We just wanted to publicize the test of a new media, namely the Viral-movie, and with great success, at that”, says press councillor Karina Petersen.

“Our research shows that 30 percent of the young males we inquired are more cautious about speed after watching the movie. So we stand behind our movie and are proud of what it has achieved”, continues Karina Petersen.
