Gates of Vienna News Feed 6/19/2015

Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who gained worldwide fame for a “selfie” taken with President Obama at the funeral of Nelson Mandela, has resigned her post, and has also stepped down as the leader of the Social Democrats. Ms. Thorning-Schmidt’s party was bested in this week’s elections by a bloc of center-right parties, in which the Danish People’s Party was the largest winner.

In other news, a stowaway in the wheel well of a British Airways flight from South Africa to the UK fell to his death on a London rooftop as the plane made its descent to land at Heathrow. A man who accompanied him survived, and is recovering in a hospital.

Exorcising Left-Fascism

The following article by an old-fashioned leftist in Switzerland is refreshing for its unabashed “Islamophobia”. The leftism of Stefan Zenklusen seems quaint now, a relic of the Old Europe, from before the revolutions of the 1960s.

JLH, who translated the article, includes this prefatory note:

This article provides an interesting glimpse into what I would call a traditional leftist or liberal, who finds he has been lumped in with the “extreme right” because of his views on Islam.

Stefan Zenklusen is grimly consistent in his citing of “left-fascists” (emphasizing that all fascists are leftists) who mold public opinion, and of their emulators, the “neoliberals” — which term is eerily reminiscent of “neoconservative.” Is he seeing the same qualities of double-talk in his “neos” as we see in some of ours?

And he seems to have the same complaints of political Alzheimer’s to lodge against the Swiss leftist version of the “68ers” as do the Germans against the leading figures of the 1960s and 1970s.

The translated article from Hintergrund-Verlag:

A Different World Is Possible — If We Defeat Leftist Fascism

by Stefan Zenklusen
January 8, 2015

Anti-Semitic terrorism in France is only the vestige made public by the media of what the population must suffer daily from the violence of Islam. Again we hear of an assault with explicitly anti-Semitic characteristics in a Muslim-dominated area. There was a rape during a robbery. Even within the confines of the previously comparatively peaceful 19th district, anti-Semitic (and also anti-Chinese) attacks are the order of the day.

We must emphasize again: This attack and rape are completely legitimate from a Muslim point of view. Since Islam considers itself in a state of war with Jews, attacks, murders and rapes (of the enemy) are fully in the spirit of the Koran. These are the Prophet’s recommendations.

As is to be expected from the world’s most spineless and mendacious elite (which has in forty years retro-developed its own land in every respect into a third-world country), it sees the problem in republican patriots like the essayist Zemmour (a Jew), who has been warning for decades against an ethnic-religious communitarianism (i.e., a kind of ethno-fascism).

Let us take a look at the argument of the leftist-fascist/neoliberals (Raymond Aron[1] was a liberal, but would never have accepted such collective spiritual corruption — Today, he would be a dissident).

To be precise: The primary guilt for the increasing anti-Semitism and Islamophobia is on the rightist extremists (of the National Front — FN) They are guided by hatred. The content of what they offer is false and populist. Unaware, confused and seduced citizens vote for the FN and suddenly become anti-Semitic. We, the establishment, must be both repressive and pedagogic. Our schools and universities must become Islamophilic to fight against every kind of racism. We must — ceaselessly — emphasize in all media the equality of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. We must combat the Islamophobes (Islam critics), for they are right extremists. That is the only way to fight anti-Semitism. We must also fight everything that has to do with the construct “nation”. Anything to do with “nation” is fascist and reactionary. We must de-construct it, and eliminate anyone who resists.

Any intelligent young person can see the fantasy in such an ideology (which is shared in Paris by 90% of the members of the ruling classes). As I have preached for years, the ideology of this country is not far removed from totalitarian madness.

We must offer our own view of things — the explanation for why anti-Semitism is increasing in the European country with the most Jews. In France, as in all European countries, anti-Semitism is an old phenomenon. For a long time after the war, France was the Western country most favorable to Israel and with about 600,000 citizens (decreasing because of Islamic terrorism), has the largest Jewish community in Europe. Even under the latter-day de Gaulle, who introduced an Israel-critical policy, anti-Semitism played no relevant role. So using de Gaulle to legitimize anti-Semitism is completely fanciful. Speaking of the few fighters who came to support him in London, de Gaulle said: “At the beginning there were only Jews and Cagoules (royalist or right extremists).” History is not as simple as present-day left-fascists would like it to be.

Anti-Semitism in today’s customary, drastic and violent form, which may rise to the level of pogrom (Sarcelles, July, 2014), had its beginning in the massive immigration and Islamization demanded by leftist fascists and neoliberals. The work of the leftist fascists (“anti-racists” and the like) is well-enough known. Less known is the fact that the emphatically anti-Gaullist Sarkozy gathered some extremely conservative Islamic groups to create an official, purportedly representative Islamic organization, which never officially had to acknowledge the values of the Republic. Naturally, leftist fascists had nothing to say against that — that’s why they ARE leftist fascists.

In other words, anti-Semitism in France is decidedly NOT the product of the Front National and its policies (and even less, of the voters of the Front National). It is exactly the opposite. Anti-Semitism has become socially acceptable, because of the massive, largely Islamic immigration pushed by (Hamas-friendly) leftist fascists and liberal players and slave-drivers (but NOT the Gaullists or the nationalists).

Geert Wilders: The Mohammed Cartoons Will Be Shown on Dutch TV Tomorrow

The Garland Motoons will be displayed on Dutch state TV tomorrow. Below is the press release sent out today by the PVV:

Tomorrow, Saturday, June 20, at 12:49pm [6:49am EDT], Geert Wilders will, following the terror attack on a cartoon exhibition in Garland, Texas last month, show a selection of Muhammad cartoons on Dutch public television (NPO 2) during the broadcasting slot allotted to political parties.

Geert Wilders: “Freedom of speech must always prevail over violence and terror!”

The cartoons will also be shown on Wednesday, 24 June, at 5:55pm on NPO 1, and on Friday, July 3, at 12:53pm on NPO 2.

Below are excerpts from an interview with Geert Wilders published by Breitbart London:

Breitbart London: The Dutch parliament has recently blocked an art exhibition you proposed to show a selection of cartoons featuring Mohammad. You are now due to show these cartoons on Dutch television this weekend — will the state broadcaster try to stop you too? And if you succeed in showing the cartoons this weekend, what format will the programme take?

Geert Wilders: Dutch television cannot stop us from showing the cartoons. Every party that is present in parliament has time to show themselves on national TV, and by law they cannot be prevented from broadcasting. Anyone can oppose the programme, but only afterwards but not before.

It will be like a walk though a museum — I will present the viewer a selection of the cartoons myself — first I will explain why I want to show the cartoons, because of what happened in Garland, Texas, and explain that it is not a provocation. We should do exactly what it is terrorists want to stop us from doing — otherwise the message we send to terrorists is that violence and the threat of violence can be effective. And this cannot be the case

We should protect freedom of speech, and we should not give in to terrorists. We should use the paper and pencil to win over those who use guns.

One of the many cartoons of Mohammad that have been blocked from publication in many Western countries by self-censorship among media editors.

You were present at the Draw Mohammad competition hosted by Pamela Geller in Garland, Texas which was attacked by Islamist would-be-terrorists. Should every western country have a draw Mohammed competition?

Stephen Coughlin: Part 9 of the Red Pill Briefing — The Collapse of Faith

The following video is the ninth part of the “Red Pill” briefing given by Maj. Stephen Coughlin to the Wiener Akademikerbund on May 23 under the auspices of Bürgerbewegung Pax Europa, following his participation with the team at the OSCE conference in Vienna. Previously: Parts 1 and 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8.

In this latest clip, Maj. Coughlin continues his examination of the doctrinal incompatibility of Christianity and Islam, based on the core scriptures of each religion. Rationally speaking, no one could believe in both religions simultaneously. A Christian can only find Islam compatible with Christianity if his own faith has in fact collapsed. “Interfaith” that includes Islam can only be made possible if all other religions except for Islam have been hollowed out and rendered meaningless.

Many thanks to Henrik Ræder Clausen for recording this video, and to Vlad Tepes for editing and uploading it:

Maj. Stephen Coughlin is a retired U.S. Army officer and the author of Catastrophic Failure: Blindfolding America in the Face of Jihad, which incorporates material from the “Red Pill” brief, as well as much additional material on the Muslim Brotherhood’s penetration of Western governments, transnational bodies, NGOs, and the “interfaith” industry.

The Keys to the Armory

An Australian reader emailed us last night with the following message:

I thought you might be interested in an article written by a female Muslim captain in the Royal Australian Navy. It appeared in the June 2015 issue of the Royal United Services Institute Journal of New South Wales Incorporated (scroll down to : “Islam in Australia in 2015: an Australian Muslim perspective – Mona Shindy”).

Together with some other ex-military men I had asked to meet with our Assistant Minister for Defence (Stuart Robert MP). Mr Robert has yet to respond, but at the meeting we intended putting forward our objections to Muslims in the Australian Defence Forces (ADF) and their growing influence in Australia. Our request followed Mr Robert’s announcement he wanted to see more Muslims in the ADF, and his recent appointment of a Muslim imam as an advisor to the ADF.

When I first read the article I found so many lies and distortions in it I thought it was a practical joke. However, it is not. Google confirms Captain Shindy does exist, while also confirming the genuineness of the article.

That such a well-known journal would publish this nonsense is inexplicable.

The article is available in PDF format: “Islam in Australia in 2015: an Australian Muslim perspective”.

As it happens, Mona Shindy is the most senior Muslim in the Royal Australian Navy. Her article is a mixture of routine Islamic dishonesty and progressive multi-culti boilerplate of a sort to make the reader’s eyes glaze over after the first three sentences. The introduction to her paper will give you the flavor:

Islam is a religion based on submission to the will and laws of God, under which a woman is equal to a man and the killing of innocent people is a sin. Terrorism, an abhorrent act, has nothing to do with Islam. A ‘victim mentality’ evident in Australian Islamic society is fodder for terrorist recruiters. Breaking the terrorist cycle must involve communication, education and equity.

It seems uncharitable to take exception to this young woman’s words. She may very well believe the soothing bromides she cobbled together to form her article. Or she may be engaging in taqiyya and kitman (lying and misdirection to achieve sacred ends); there’s no way for us to tell. But in either case, her statements and explanations are straight out of the Muslim Brotherhood playbook. They make essentially the same points as does the oily oratory of Tariq Ramadan or the rhetoric of Imam Faisal Rauf.

The following paragraph is from the section on “Islam and Muslims”:

Islam teaches that the killing of innocent people is a sin. Why then have Muslims been linked to terrorism? Terrorism is an unjustifiable, abhorrent act that has nothing to do with Islam. The extremist behaviour of groups purporting to be Muslims has been overplayed by the media for years constantly linking terrorist behaviours to Islam, e.g. use of the description ‘Islamist’, rather than separatist or militant. Of course, such groups claiming authority for their actions under a banner of ‘Islam’ has not helped, but it is not legitimate to associate the politically-driven behaviours of unsavoury individuals or groups with the teachings of a religion they claim to follow. Extremist groups have emanated from many religious communities over the years. Well-known examples include many of the atrocities in World Wars I and II, such as Hitler and the extermination of the Jews; and the longstanding conflict between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. [emphasis added]

So what “sacred misdirection” may be found in the assertion that “the killing of innocent people is a sin”?

In order to answer that question we need to take a little side-journey into the niceties of Islamic law. As Reliance of the Traveller — the foremost authoritative source on Sunni Islamic law — reminds us (§r10.3), under sharia, “giving a misleading impression” is an acceptable practice:

Scholars say that there is no harm in giving a misleading impression if required by an interest countenanced by Sacred Law.

And to do so is mandatory if the interest is mandatory. Advancing the spread of Islam, by jihad or other means, is mandatory for all Muslims. Therefore, assuming Capt. Shindy is a believing Muslim, it is mandatory for her to mislead her subordinates, her fellow naval officers, her superiors, and the Australian public, provided that in so doing she advances the spread of Islam in Australia.

Now we need to understand the definitions of certain words as understood by Islamic law. Muslims who are well-versed in sharia do not mean the same thing we do when they use the word “innocent”. They know our definition is different from theirs, and they are content to mislead us, because our misunderstanding of their meaning advances an interest countenanced by Sacred Law.

So what do believing Muslims mean when they say “innocent”?

According to the tenets of Islamic law, the world is divided into two houses: Dar al-Islam, or “the House of Submission”, and Dar al-Harb, or the “House of War”. The former comprises all the territory whose inhabitants have submitted to Allah. Dar al-Islam is the only possible zone in which there can be peace. The rest of the world — the portion governed by infidels — is considered to be permanently at war with all Muslims.

Islam defines “noncombatants” as “innocent Muslims” — that is, those believers who have not transgressed against the laws of Allah. No one else can be considered “innocent” under Islamic law.

The infidel’s status is harbi, “enemy”, because he comes from the territory of war. Therefore, according to the inexorable logic of the relevant Koranic verses — the uncreated word of Allah — there is no such thing as a noncombatant infidel. All non-Muslims in Dar al-Harb are enemies, and the believer may and should strike terror into their hearts and kill them when necessary.

Therefore, when Capt. Shindy refers to “innocent” people, she is not including any Australian people except those who have already submitted to Allah and accepted the Islamic faith. All others are considered enemies, and may be killed when it is expedient to do so if they refuse to convert to Islam.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

In the next portion of that paragraph, Mona Shindy implicitly invokes Islamic law concerning blasphemy, insisting that terrorists not be described using any terms derived from “Islam”. This is because calling them “Islamic terrorists” would reflect badly on Islam, and thus violate Islamic law, which forbids defaming Islam in any manner, and which is to be applied to both Muslims and non-Muslims.

Now, if those who heard Capt. Shindy’s words or read her paper were rational beings capable of independent thought, they would say something like this:

Flemming Rose Interviews Geert Wilders

Flemming Rose, who is well-known as the editor who arranged the publication of the original batch of Mohammed cartoons, is now the foreign affairs editor of Jyllands-Posten in Denmark. Last weekend he shared a podium with Geert Wilders at the Folkemødet political conference on the island of Bornholm. During the course of the event he interviewed Mr. Wilders.

You’ll notice that this is a hard-hitting interview, but not in the usual way that Geert Wilders might expect. Flemming Rose asked Mr. Wilders some tough questions about his call to ban the Koran, which is an issue over which civil libertarians — who may otherwise agree with his stance on Islam — often part company with the leader of the PVV.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this video:

Below is a video of Mr. Wilders’ speech given the same day at the meeting in Bornholm:

Stephen Coughlin: Part 8 of the Red Pill Briefing — Apples and Oranges

The following video is the eighth section of the “Red Pill” briefing given by Maj. Stephen Coughlin to the Wiener Akademikerbund on May 23 under the auspices of Bürgerbewegung Pax Europa, following his participation with the team at the OSCE conference in Vienna. Previously: Parts 1 and 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7.

In his latest video, Maj. Coughlin continues his analysis of the Alinsky-inspired destruction of reason that has infected the “interfaith” movement. The syncretists who push “Chrislam” and similar conceits want us to think that we can believe in both Islam and Christianity, but that is simply not possible for anyone who retains the capacity to reason — we may believe in one, or the other, or neither, but not both at once.

Unlearning

MC’s latest essay concerns the culture of lies that pervades the 21st-century West, and the political, moral, and spiritual pollution that afflicts us because of it.

Unlearning
by MC

Ignorance is never bliss, and is extremely dangerous to life and limb. But what of propaganda? What of lies believed, and never unlearned?

I have just been reading an article about the BBC, and their treatment of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole, where the BBC implied that Florence Nightingale was a racist. History makes no such claim, and what is more, provides no evidence that the two ever exchanged any dialogue. But the story makes for good political copy:

The attitude to Nightingale is a mystery. A woman who spent her whole life after the Crimean war taking on the war office and reactionary men in government in order to improve conditions for the average British soldier, should be a hero of the Left, and of feminists. Instead she has been vilified, because she came from a wealthy background and became a Victorian establishment figure, and because she had a brief meeting with a woman from the Caribbean.

Of course this situation says nothing about the two women or their real worth but everything about the strange ideology of the left in the UK today, skewed with envy and hatred but also sunk in historical ignorance, unable to fathom the ideas and behaviour of our ancestors, imaginatively or through facts.

It is these same lying leftists who have been in charge of our children’s ‘education’ for decades. It struck me how difficult a situation one is in when one is not just ‘ignorant’ but has had one’s mind filled with arrant garbage. Garbage disposal is never easy.

When one reads widely, both non-fiction and good (honest) fiction, one gets a feel for truth, and one can compare what one has been taught against what one reads. But this is a rare skill, no longer encouraged and is thus not generally the case, and a historical textbook is ‘lucky’ if it sells more than 6,000 copies in the UK.

Most graduates do not read textbooks once they have finished their finals. And to get a good degree one must regurgitate only that which is politically educationally correct in order to appease the liars.

So the propaganda sticks, and eventually becomes mainstream as the affected individuals attain positions where their unwitting tendentiousness is uncorrected.

When I was lied to as a child, often by well-intentioned parents, there were usually consequences, mostly embarrassing, but sometimes potentially life-changing.

As one of four boys, I did not know what the physical difference was between girls and boys, so, as one does, I asked my mother, she told me that girls have ‘nothing’ there. At the age of eight I knew she was lying, because the girls at school teased me and dropped hints and allusions that I could not understand.

Eventually, as a young teenager, I persuaded a younger female cousin to assuage my curiosity, but had this gone wrong, I could have been liable for prosecution and lifelong disgrace (she was about 9-10 at the time).

In the fifties and sixties, school in UK was apolitical, and one was encouraged to seek ‘truth’ by looking at a situation from as many angles as possible. So I was taught creation myth and Darwinian myth at the same time, and told that there was no proof for either, and that I could form my own opinions.

Also, we did not study other religions, and history stopped at Corn Laws (1850s). If one wanted to know more, then read the books for one’s self. So I did.

There is an inseparable bond between truth and liberty, and by default, between lies and tyranny. Why would we want to teach lies to all and sundry when it is the truth that sets us free? We tell lies when we need people to do as we want them to, not as they want to do for themselves. Why did Barack Hussein Obama tell us that we could keep our own doctors? Because to him in his personal belief, the lies were justified by the perceived need for Obamacare. The ends justified the means.

Revolutionary change is not difficult to kick off, but is very difficult to steer, and almost impossible to stop until it runs out of steam. It is this indirection that means that the best laid revolutionary plans tend to come off the rails and become uncontrollable. We look at history: the Girondists, the theorists of the French revolution, found themselves mounting the steps of their guillotine when the violence-oriented Montagnards seized power and precipitated the Terror. We find the Mensheviks giving way to the extremist Bolsheviks and then the takeover of the Stalinists.

Stephen Coughlin: Part 7 of the Red Pill Briefing — “Interfaith Dialogue” and the Assault on Reason

The following video is the seventh installment of the “Red Pill” briefing given by Maj. Stephen Coughlin to the Wiener Akademikerbund on May 23 under the auspices of Bürgerbewegung Pax Europa, following his participation with the team at the OSCE conference in Vienna. Previously: Parts 1 and 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6.

In this clip, Maj. Coughlin discusses the “interfaith movement”. He traces its roots to Cultural Marxism and Saul Alinsky, and shows that its goal is the destruction of one’s right to have an identity, via an assault on reason. This destructive capability is now being exploited with great effectiveness by the Muslim Brotherhood.
