“They Will Keep Coming”

Civil Guards try to contain the assault on the fence at Melilla on June 24, 2022

Ceuta and Melilla are two Spanish enclaves on the coast of North Africa, each surrounded on three sides by Moroccan territory.

It looks like Spain is getting ready for another assault at the Melilla border. Or are they?

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from the Spanish daily El Mundo:

Immigration:

The police in Melilla warn: “Morocco rules here, when they want to punish Spain, they will once again permit a massive crossing.”

One year after the tragedy, Guardia Civil personnel stationed at the fence warn that there are some 1,500 migrants at Mount Gurugu.

The polemics and the questions involving the tragedy at the fence in Melilla are not fading; rather they are growing one year after 23 migrants — according to the official number, and 37 according to the NGOs — died at the border crossing while trying to reach Europe. The fence crossing in the early hours of the morning on 24 June 2022 was dynamite for the ministry of Fernando Grande-Marlaska. What happened here attracted the attention of Europe and global media, and inflamed the NGOs and all opposition parties.

Five months later, the BBC threw salt on the wound in the worst possible way: A documentary placed some of the deceased migrants in a zone under Spanish control. Up to today, the number of persons who lost their lives continues to be unknown. At this time, Grande-Marlaska has always attempted to distance his ministry from the tragedy and knock down any alternative construction to his story — shared by the Guardia Civil — that there were no deaths on the Spanish side and that police action took place on a legal basis.

The Minister of the Interior has also had to face the Public Defensor’s Office, who accused him of illegal and massive deportations, the insistence of the European Parliament that he appear and explain what happened, and the contempt of humanitarian organizations. In the middle: the civil guards in charge of guarding the border. Twelve months later, they reflect on a drama that, they warn, will repeat itself “when Morocco wants”. Their years of experience lead them to that conclusion. They know how the Alaouite kingdom works and also the determination of the migrants to reach Europe.

“They will keep coming; they will keep trying to cross the fence because they are desperate. They have not traveled 3,000 kilometers in Africa to the gates of Europe only to return home,” reasons one of them. At this time, says another of the agents consulted, they have evidence that there are 1,500 migrants at Mount Gurugu, the redoubt in which they take refuge before trying to violate the fence. They regret that what happened on June 24, 2022 did not help the Ministry of the Interior to take note. “We continue exactly the same as a year ago. Without the resources, neither material nor human, to face another avalanche of this type,” they complain.

They report that shields broken on that day have not been repaired, and anti-riot helmets announced by the minister after the events have not arrived, either. “We still have the same equipment as thirty years ago,” they lament. “We feel abandoned by the hand of God,” they conclude.

Sheep Thrills

The brief news clip below from French television reports on the discovery of forty or so sheep in an apartment in Nice. One sheep had had its throat slit.

There’s no word yet on whether the unslaughtered sheep had been reserved by the owner for possible sexual emergencies.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 6/26/2023

The first wave of tonight’s thunderstorms took out my voice connection, but left the Internet connection intact. Then the second wave of storms came through, and knocked out the electric power, as well as voice on the phone line. Fortunately, everything came back up in time for me to hastily throw the news feed together.

At a quick glance, the most interesting items seem to be those concerning Yevgeny Prigozhin and his supposed attempted coup against Moscow.

Indian Giver

Many thanks to Hellequin GB for translating this article from Boris Reitschuster’s website. The translator’s comments are in square brackets:

Just empty promises? State demands the return of Corona aid

The government assesses the legal situation completely differently than in 2021

At the beginning of the Corona crisis, the federal government under then-Chancellor Angela Merkel promised generous and unbureaucratic help to medium-sized companies, small businesses and the self-employed. They were hopeful signals at a time that was characterized by measures to contain the virus that were at times just as arbitrary as they were completely exaggerated.

The application for the bridging aid was tedious and it took some patience until the money flowed. But for some, the emergency aid became a dangerous boomerang early on. At the end of 2021, more than 30,000 small businesses and the self-employed were required to repay a total of €288 million in emergency Corona aid that they had received in the spring of 2020, shortly after the outbreak of the crisis.

All those whose liquidity bottleneck was less than previously forecast were asked to pay. However, all additional costs incurred by entrepreneurs and the self-employed were not taken into account. In addition, the applicants could not claim wages for themselves. The dubious support was a complete mockery because Olaf Scholz, still Minister of Finance in spring 2020, proudly announced that it was not a subsidy: “So nothing has to be repaid.”

More than half a million companies have applied for Bridging Aid III alone

But that’s not all: many companies and self-employed people are still receiving repayment notices these days. “All bridging aid will be reclaimed — a total of millions. Payable within one month, otherwise there is a risk of enforcement measures and high interest rates.” This is the email from a tax consultant to a dismayed entrepreneur, quoted by the FAZ [Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung].

The author of the guest article, Dennis Hillemann, assumes that “many thousands more” of such repayment requests will follow. According to the specialist lawyer for administrative law and partner at the Fieldfisher law firm in Hamburg, those who were supposedly so generously funded at the time are affected by a special legal aspect: All state bridging aid during the Corona crisis was granted subject to full review and reclaim.

Now the entrepreneurs and solo self-employed have to submit final accounts. All of the data will then be examined again. To do this, the licensing authorities use legions of consultants from large auditing firms. A lot is at stake: more than half a million companies have applied for the so-called Bridging Aid III alone, and more than €33 billion has been paid out.

The Federal Ministry of Economics takes a different view without any reason

With the government takeover by the traffic light coalition*, the legal situation was “suddenly very often and differently assessed than in 2021,” writes Hillemann. “What used to appear to be harmless has now become a problem.” Likewise, applications were rejected and claims for reimbursement issued with the open reference that, after consultation with the Federal Ministry of Economics, a different view would now be taken.

For example, automotive suppliers or machine builders are suddenly accused that their slump in sales in 2021 was not “Corona-related” after all, but that is a prerequisite for the subsidy. Even with hairdressers it is said “with governmental coldness”: “People use their services less, perhaps due to inflation.”

Sturm und Drang

Here at Schloss Bodissey the sky is very dark and thunder is rumbling…

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for this area:

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. For your safety, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows.

If this post is still on top late this evening, or tomorrow, you’ll know why. Given the combination of the phone company and the electric company, some sort of outage is to be expected.

The Perils of Non-Compliance

Te Tari Taiwhenua — the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs — won’t let bygones be bygones. To quote the Grateful Dead, “it gets to wearing thin/They just won’t let you be.”

Te Tari Taiwhenua began their work week by sending me a notice of my non-compliance with their earlier demand that I take down Brenton Tarrant’s manifesto (see my most recent post on the New Zeal of the New Zealand government). Here’s what the email said:

Dear Mr May

Re: Non-Compliance Warning — 2022/10 Gates of Vienna — The Great Replacement Manifesto

Thank you for your email dated 20 June 2023 in response to the Take Down Notice ‘2022/10 Gates of Vienna
— The Great Replacement Manifesto’.

We acknowledge your views about publications that are not considered illegal in the US and observations on focusing internally. The Notice does provide the opportunity to geo-block the objectionable content from New Zealand as an alternative.

We are obligated to serve a Non-Compliance Warning as the final stage of our Notice issuing process, and as such, attach the same. This now closes our file.

For your ease of reference, here is a link to the Department’s Take-Down Notice guidance.

Please contact us if you:

  • require any additional information or if you reasonably believe you will not be able to comply within the required period;
  • have removed or prevented New Zealand public access to the objectionable online publication from your platform;
  • would like to provide us with additional or updated contact information, such as group emails, for your company.

Regards.

Notice that they are “provid[ing] the opportunity to geo-block the objectionable content from New Zealand”. That is, they expect me to use my precious time to enforce their tomfool laws against their own citizens! The chutzpa is astonishing.

Below is the email I sent them in reply:

To whom it may concern:

Thank you for your considered response to my most recent email.

Your note that your office will “provide the opportunity to geo-block the objectionable content from New Zealand” means, I assume, that you would expect Gates of Vienna itself to do the geo-blocking on behalf of the New Zealand government. Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor the resources to take such an action, even if I thought that doing so would be a good idea.

Therefore, pursuant to the first item in your bulleted list, I am required to notify you that I reasonably believe that I will not be able to comply within the required period, or indeed within any time period.

Please feel free to contact me again if you deem it necessary.

Cordially,

Ned May

The fact that they’ve closed their file on me may indicate an end to their harassment of me, but I wouldn’t count on it. The worst thing they could do would be to contact the State Department and demand that the U.S. government do something about my heinous offense — have my whole site taken down, for example. I consider that very unlikely, though.

In any case, I recommend that anyone who has their own website upload the manifesto, if you haven’t already. Anything a government wants taken down that badly is something that we should make available. You can’t stop the signal!

As I’ve often said in the past, this sort of behavior by a government brings out the Scot in me. At my core is an atavistic kilt-wearing claymore-waving red-bearded brigand who screams in defiance against any so-called government that would coerce him into doing something that goes against his nature.

For those who are interested, I’ve extracted the first two pages from the PDF file attached to the email and formatted the text in HTML:

“We Are Witnessing a Huge Change of Culture, Customs and Population”

Collectif Némésis is an identitarian feminist organization based in France and Switzerland. It focuses primarily on the threat posed by third-world migrants to native white women. Its “racist” “far-right” ideology is anathema to mainstream feminist groups, who shun it and marginalize it. (See the previous Collectif Némésis video.)

Below are four videos from Collectif Némésis featuring the testimony of French-speaking women who have been harassed, intimidated, threatened, and otherwise had their lives made miserable by culture-enrichers in France and Switzerland. When the Suckling Babe is a Sign of Right-Wing Extremism

Many thanks to Hellequin GB for translating this article from Boris Reitschuster’s website. The translator’s comments are in square brackets:

Is breastfeeding babies now also right-wing radicalism?

Crazier, always

That the culture warriors from red-green and from the “woke” corner have declared war on our traditions and society as we know it is nothing new. But how far this fight goes never ceases to amaze. Because the core cell of our society is particularly in the sights of the cultural revolutionaries: the family. And with it the traditional coexistence and parenthood.

“Carrying the child in a sling, sleeping in the family bed, generally experiencing a lot of closeness to the child — all of this is part of attachment-oriented upbringing. But suddenly there is a connection to right-wing extremism,” writes Frédéric Schwilden in Die Welt. The trigger for his outrage: An author in Die Zeit, who studied social sciences (whether with or without a degree is not mentioned), wrote about the connections between “bond-oriented education” and right-wing extremism. Under the heading “Attachment Parenting: How Education Becomes a Substitute Ideology,” it says: “Attachment-oriented parenting is considered gentle and mindful, but is also Western and elitist. That increasingly appeals to right-wing extremists.”

One of the subliminal messages of the article, which stands behind a paywall, is: Those who demand that a child should be with the mother in the first three years of life, who is against “supposed early sexualization in schools”, “queer education”, “marriage for all” or the “transgender hype” tends to make him/herself suspicious.

The attachment-oriented parenting scene has been infiltrated, the text says: “And by the right. Even more: The bubble has a ‘Nazi problem’.” The author goes on to write: “Contrary to their loudest voices, the majority of the scene is neither liberal nor diverse. It is mainly white middle-class women who negotiate what motherhood means, who is responsible for the children and what follows from it. Including only a few mothers who see themselves as feminists or anti-racists… and finally women who are concerned with honoring the traditional role of mothering.”

Is that a crime?

The rhetoric of secure attachment is “specifically used there to make conservative and often mother-centric politics, which is partly characterized by a biological family image,” the article continues.

Bad message

Schwilden sums up the quintessence of the rather cumbersome Zeit text, which looks a bit like something out of a church convention writing workshop, as follows: attachment-oriented upbringing involves a lot of closeness to the child so that one might have a better bond with them. Breastfeeding. Sleeping together in bed. Carry in a sling close to the body. And especially, which is the core of the text: right-wingers would “do that now too.” [Funny, African women also do that. I see it every day. Although I haven’t noticed them sporting a swastika armband so far.]

Culture-Enricher Attacks Grandma and Granddaughter in Bordeaux

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from CNews:

Bordeaux: What is known about Brahima B., suspect in violent attack on a grandmother and her granddaughter, previously convicted fifteen times

June 20, 2023

A grandmother and her granddaughter were victims of a violent attack on Monday June 19 in front of the door to their residence in Bordeaux (Gironde). Here is what we know about the suspect arrested.

A very violent attack. It was about 5:30pm, Monday, June 19, when a grandmother and her granddaughter were violently attacked just in front of the door to their residence in the middle of Bordeaux by a man who was well-known to police, and who was arrested by police an hour.

Tweet:

“Unbearable images of an attack on grandmother and her granddaughter on the Course of Martinique in the heart of Bordeaux in the middle of the day.

I send all my support.

I call for the utmost severity on the part of the courts.”

— Nicolas Florian, June 19, 2023 [ex-mayor of Bordeaux]

According to a source close to the case, as told to CNEWS, Brahima B,. the suspect arrested, is a Frenchman, age 29, born July 1993 in Bordeaux, without a fixed abode and very unfavorably known to police. He has already been convicted fifteen times, mostly in connection with traffic disputes and narcotics violations. He reportedly also has more than twenty references in judicial matters (TAJ), a police file that identifies persons implicated in criminal proceedings.

According to the press release from the national prosecutor’s office in Bordeaux, the subject is also reportedly under guardianship and was reported to the police for psychological monitoring and to be out of treatment.

This man, who attacked a 73-year-old woman and her granddaughter, a minor under the age of 15, was recognized by the Anti-Crime Brigade teams, who immediately proceeded to arrest him. “The police know him by sight; they see him every week prowling central Bordeaux,” Xavier Bounine, zonal secretary of the Aquitaine Police Alliance, told CNEWS on Tuesday.

According to a police source’s statement to CNEWS, the man reportedly “doesn’t have all his marbles” and will be interrogated by police to try and understand the reason and the circumstances of the attack.
