Hither and Yon, July 23: “the last Marxist in the world will probably be an American nun”

Yes, that quote is in one of the links sent in by readers. No, you don’t have to click on anything to find out who said it and why. The words are in plain view in one of the tip blurbs…umm, somewhere.

Do I agree with it? Only if you’re talking about the Maryknoll nuns. Those are some very far-left women, even as they have been killed by death squads in Central America.

Unfortunately, Liberation Theology, injected at the right moment, can be a permanent vaccination against reality.

And so, on to today’s tips…

Bin Laden’s former driver on trial in Gitmo

…Soufan also said Hamdan told him about a conversation he overheard when he was driving bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, after the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

The two men were looking at a magazine which described the flight routes of the Sept. 11 hijacked planes, Soufan said.

“If they didn’t shoot that fourth plane it would have hit the dome,” Soufan said bin Laden told Zawahiri, according to Hamdan’s account.

“I assumed (‘the dome’ meant) either Congress or the White House,” Soufan said. “Hamdan said he did not know what they mean by the dome.”

That plane didn’t get shot down, despite the claims of bin Laden’s cronies and American truthers. A bunch of US citizens brought down that aircraft in Pennsylvania.

Telling Tales Out of School

Three MPs of Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom (PVV) secretly informed the National Anti-terrorism Coordinator (NCTb) of the contents of Wilders’ anti-Islam film Fitna prior to its publication. Wilders did not know this, Elsevier weekly magazine reports.

On 4 March, NCTb chief Tjibbe Joustra and the National Coordinator of Guarding and Security, Arjen Jonge Vos, had a meeting on Fitna with Wilders and his PVV MPs. At it, the MPs were warned about the consequences of the film for their personal safety, even though Joustra and Jonge Vos at that moment did not know what Fitna would show.

Three PVV MPs were so disquieted by that meeting that they afterwards asked for personal protection. To give their request some clout, they spilled the beans about the contents of Fitna, according to Elsevier.

Elsevier bases its report on a “source close to the top of the security services”. According to the source, the three PVV MPs went to NCTb chief Tjibbe Joustra independently of one another with the message that the contents of Fitna would be explosive.

Buncha weenies, those MPs. Like everyone else, I keep asking “what in the world is wrong with the Dutch?”

Our tipster calls this one “the outrage of the day”

Audit finds that Michigan let hundreds of criminals provide child care

Michigan’s oversight of child care providers was so ridden with deficiencies that state regulators licensed hundreds of convicted sex offenders, child abusers and criminals during a three-year period ending in 2006, according to an audit released today by the state auditor general.

The Department of Human Services authorized 1,900 unsuitable day care providers during the period placing 4,600 children at risk, auditors found.

“Daycare” is a disaster, especially for boys. I used to have to “certify” daycare homes for a county social service agency. It was so depressing, I quit.

The Sweet Illusion Of Socialism

The underlying issue of the 2008 election makes this a watershed moment in American history, too important to shrink from full and frank debate or allow emotional appeal to cloak party platform DNA.

In 2004, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., said: “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” She could have easily quoted Karl Marx, who said: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”

[…]

We’ve come far from promises of “a chicken in every pot” to Barack Obama’s June 3 declaration that “the chance to get a college education is the birthright of every American.” When did it become a birthright?

In his 1982 book, “The Spirit of Democratic Capitalism,” Michael Novak noted that many who have lived under socialism would find it hard to believe “that other human beings would fall for the same bundle of lies, half-truths and distortions. Sadly, however, illusion is often sweeter to human taste than reality. The last Marxist in the world will probably be an American nun.”

Guns, Foreign Courts, and the Moral Consensus of the International Community

Th[e] [Supreme Court’s] tendency to invoke foreign jurisprudence is becoming more troubling as it becomes clearer that the moral consensus that once united Western nations has almost entirely broken down. A few years ago a pastor I know, as part of his duties as a representative of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRC), took part in an inter-church dialogue with a member of the Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland (GKN), a grouping of Reformed congregations in the Netherlands. The GKN sent what they considered to be a moderate pastor to participate in this conversation about moral issues. In the course of the discussion, the GKN moderate asserted that it was more evil to own a gun than to have an abortion.

At this, the CRC representative was only able to respond that their discussion was effectively over…As any rhetorician knows, argument can only proceed where there is some basic level of agreement, and the ethical opinion expressed by the GKN pastor was so far removed from the sensibilities of the CRC that there was effectively no point of contact for continuing dialogue.

While this is a relatively minor anecdote, it serves well to illustrate the conflicting moral values placed on issues of life by the mainstream culture in Europe and the United States…

…If part of what characterizes a civilization is a consensus on moral issues, then the idea of a unified Western civilization encompassing Europe and the United States is an illusion. A consensus that diverges on such fundamental questions of the right to life and responsibilities of self-defense is simply no consensus at all.

It’s amazing how we still keep trying to talk to one another, though. Hope springs eternal…

Note on Hurricane Dolly

Our wireless service provider reports that Dolly’s landfall in Texas may affect our connectivity in Virginia:

Your connection communicates with the Internet through our gateway in Laredo, inland from Brownsville where the hurricane is expected to hit first. This means that your service may be affected, even if your local weather is mild. Even if your home or business is many miles away from the storm, you may experience a loss of service if the hurricane hits the Laredo area.

To complicate matters our dial-up service is wonky, too. Last week some drunken idjit hit the phone box a few miles down the road, knocking out everyone’s phone service. They fixed it, but ever since then our phone connection has been intermittent.

[Hmm…is there a patron saint for telephone service? They have one for every other conceivable endeavor. For example, Saint Valentine is the patron for bee keepers. I still haven’t figured that one out]

In any event, if you don’t hear anything from Gates, that’s why. Y’all can keep talking, but we won’t be able to correspond if both services go out at the same time.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to imagine life without the internet. As I told Pundita in a recent email, “what life?”

Oops…My Superwoman Cape Is at the Cleaners

A friend was visiting this morning and mentioned a story I hadn’t heard. He said two men in Yorkshire who’d been convicted of race crimes recently had fled the country. They went first to Ireland and then to the US, where they are now being held by the immigration authorities.

Hmm…sounded interesting. Was this an attempt to stop the Holocaust deniers or the Islamophobists? After all, the Crown Prosecutors are definitely equal opportunity silencers.

So my friend googled the story and here’s the lead paragraph [the emphasis is in the original post] he happened upon at the Infidel Blogger’s Alliance:
– – – – – – – –

I think it is important to note that these two men, apparently, went through a trial for hate speech, were convicted, fled, and sought asylum in the U.S., and yet, we never heard word one from the BNP, the CVF, Baron Bodissey, or any of the Lionheart supporters.

What do you think of that?

Well, darn it all! What I think is that I never should have sent my Superwoman cape to the cleaners. Then I would be sitting here wrapped in it and able to find stories I didn’t know existed.

My reaction on reading this huffy paragraph was to laugh. We’re supposed to know everything that goes on in Europe? Cool. Didn’t know we were that powerful.

So how come it’s just the Baron that gets a mention for his sins of omission? What am I, chopped liver?? These guys at ibloga are obviously misogynists.

This isn’t the first time they’ve done something similar. For example, here is part of the mission statement as it appears on their sidebar:

All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same inalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness…

When this manifesto first appeared, it only mentioned the men having any inalienable rights. When I brought this to their attention, they were kind enough to include women and children in their statement.

And at another time, they had cheesecake on the sidebar. Pamela Geller (who was one of their choices for “Infidel Babe”) and I suggested that an “Infidel Hunk of the Week” was in order to match the scantily clad women. Equal opportunity and all that. Again, they obliged.

Since our heated parting of the ways, I haven’t been over there, but today I saw that they have a gurrl guitarist up at the moment. However, the photo of the ever-yummy John Bolton is gone. So sad.

I can’t recall what the brouhaha was about that caused us to depart the Infidel Bloggers. I only remember that it was heated and ugly and I was ready to go before the Baron was. He’s a more hopeful kind of person, even given his experience with Chas.

When the Baron returns, he’ll remember chapter and verse of this old song. He has a retentive memory, though he shrugs off old enmities. But when I shrug off unpleasantness, the experience seems to leave, too. It’s one of the small (oh-so-very-small) advantages of chronic, complex PTSD. No matter what, you just can’t retain the ugly stuff.

On the other hand, I do remember the mess with Chazzer because he tried so hard and so repeatedly to cause harm to the anti-jihad movement in Europe. Fortunately, despite his size in America, in Europe he’s like us – viewed as merely one more American blogger who doesn’t “get” Europe or Europeans. The difference is that we like them furriners, in fact we consider them crucial allies in the war on the crazies.

Ah well…water under the bridge.

Meanwhile, those two seeking asylum in the US appear to be ex-BNP members. They were kicked out for their sins. Here’s a wiki on one. I’m sure our English readers will see the name “Simon Sheppard” and know the story.

The other asylum seeker is Stephen Whittle. According to this up-to-date Wikipedia source, the two of them are in Santa Ana Prison for the nonce, waiting to see what the feds decide to do with them.

My guess? They’ll be seeing Heathrow before too long.

My opinion? People have the right to say what they want (with the usual proviso about crying “fire” in a crowded building). When government arrogates unto itself what is a God-given right, government has done something evil.

As Frederic Bastiat warned us:

“The state is the great fictitious entity by which everyone seeks to live at the expense of everyone else.”

In other words, if you gore my bull, I get to kill yours. We have regressed to an old disorder.

Sweden Loves Immigrants…but Denmark Has Questions

The other day Fjordman sent a link to a Swedish editorial hoping someone might have a go at translating it. But since the Baron is out of town until Friday, and I don’t have his list of his translators, I put it aside to await his return, though Fjordman’s note piqued my curiosity:

This column from national Swedish newspaper Expressen is so insane, you need to get somebody to translate it. They are debating whether mass immigration to Sweden should increase the country’s population by 1000 % or merely 300 %. It’s purely a matter of logistics. The survival of the Swedish people is a non-issue.

Then in the email, up popped the very thing I needed: without being asked, TB had a go at putting that same editorial into English.

As you will read, Fjordman and TB are correct in being concerned about the lemming-like behavior of Swedish editorialists. Not even The New York Times could have written such balderdash.

Here is the translated editorial from Expressen. See what you think:

Welcome

Tomorrow the SCB [the Central Bureau of Statistics – ed.] presents a compilation about how many we are here in Sweden. We should be a lot more.

Nothing gets the national movement going as when you say just that. That we are on the way to being few in this sparsely populated place called Sweden. That we have room for so many more people from every corner of the world.

It is a kind of sad-and-amusing irony that exactly those people who tell us that they love Sweden so much are the same people who will promote a policy that will stop the immigration. Nothing would harm Sweden more than a stop to immigration.

It seems to be as if people think that we welcome people from other countries just because we are sweet. And sure it is so, that we in the rich part of the world have a special responsibility to help people who are on the run from war, hunger and catastrophes. But even though the ‘national’ movement is completely empty on everything related to empathy and other decent proprieties, the care of Sweden should make them embrace new blood.

Indeed, immigration is, as the economist Phillip Legrain show in his book “Immigrants – Your Country Needs Them”, a benefit for everybody. Especially as the population of the rich world becomes older and older.

The numbers from The World Bank showed some years ago that if the rich countries increased their labour by 3% between 2001 and 2025, the world would earn 356 billion dollar a year. 162 would go to the immigrants themselves, 139 billions would go to the new home countries and 143 billions to those who stay in the poor part of the world.

That immigration policy, especially the integration part of it, has been disastrous cannot be blamed on the immigrants. The fact is that we not only need a much better migration-and-integration policy, we also need many more immigrants.

That the government open up the borders is a good first step.. But to seriously be able to attract labour and compete in a global economy against countries where languages known to most people are spoken and where you will find a much bigger variety of cultures and work, we have to be much more ambitious to find a strategy. We cannot back into the future.

A hand full of politicians and debaters have put forward their chin on this loaded question. Lena Klevenås from The Environment Party thought that we should be 30 millions. Anders Ferm (S) and Mauricio Rojas (FP) made their bid 50 millions. The journalist Jenny Morelli said 80 million while here colleague Torbjörn Björkman from Proletaren had the highest bid on 160 million.

Actually only our fantasy – and courage – is the limit.

TB says: “Hallelujah. (My comment)”

It does make you wonder what these folks are smoking.

And then there are the Danes. The un-dhimmified Danes. You could see this conflict coming when the Danes decided to get tough on immigration, a stance at odds with the EU suck-up.

From The Copenhagen Post we read this threat:
– – – – – – – –

The Danish People’s Party says it will end its cooperation with the government if immigration laws are relaxed

The past weeks’ crisis within the Refugee, Immigration and Integration Ministry caused the nationalist Danish People’s Party to threaten to end their support of the Liberal-Conservative government if changes are made to immigration laws.

After revelations that Danish family reunification laws were in conflict with European Union rules, Birthe Rønn Hornbech, the integration minister, has kept silent on the issue, creating a backlash from the media and all political parties – including members of her own Liberal Party.

But the Danish People’s Party, whose support of the government allows the coalition to remain in power, indicated the past years’ toughening of immigration laws is the primary reason it has cooperated with the government. If the government backs down to the EU on the issue, the party said it would withdraw that support.

A majority of the parties at parliament are now calling for a thorough investigation into Denmark’s immigration policies to determine specifically what areas are in conflict with EU regulations.

The primary bone of contention in the current dispute is in regard to an EU rule that permits couples to obtain residence in all member states, provided they have legally lived and worked in another EU country for at least two weeks, both having worked a minimum 11 hours per week. This applies to all couples of legal marital age, but Danish law requires both husband and wife to be at least 24. [my emphasis]

This is going to be an interesting fight. It will have deep repercussions throughout the EU, perhaps on the same level as Ireland’s very loud “no.” Denmark is in the process of deciding for itself what its sovereign rules will be. The EU doesn’t recognize sovereignty, having spent so many years and countless amounts of money attempting to eradicate those boundaries. Come to think of it, there is a lot of Danish DNA floating around on the Emerald Isle.

Such a short distance to travel in terms of geography, but Sweden and Denmark might as well be from different planets. On one of these planets, the EU is not the ruling party.

TB found this nice contrast, too.

The News From Hither and Yon, July 22 2008

A fine group of tips that I didn’t have time to post on separately.

Thanks to everyone for their contributions!

The first few in line are from contributor, JD:

Top Australian rocket scientist reverses position on global warming

I devoted six years to carbon accounting, building models for the Australian Greenhouse Office. I am the rocket scientist who wrote the carbon accounting model (FullCAM) that measures Australia’s compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, in the land use change and forestry sector.

[…]

When I started that job in 1999 the evidence that carbon emissions caused global warming seemed pretty good: CO2 is a greenhouse gas, the old ice core data, no other suspects.

The evidence was not conclusive, but why wait until we were certain when it appeared we needed to act quickly? Soon government and the scientific community were working together and lots of science research jobs were created. We scientists had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. We were working to save the planet.

But since 1999 new evidence has seriously weakened the case that carbon emissions are the main cause of global warming, and by 2007 the evidence was pretty conclusive that carbon played only a minor role and was not the main cause of the recent global warming. As Lord Keynes famously said, “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?”

How Many Chinese Have Been “Suicided”?

“Being suicided” is a new term growing popular on the Internet in China today. It generally refers to deaths that are announced by Chinese authorities to be suicides, but where foul play is suspected.

Often when authorities attribute a death to suicide, people believe the real killer will never be punished, considering the corrupt legal and policing systems in China.

The term’s first usage may been in the internet discussion of the death of Li Guohua, a man from Anhui Province who reported the corruption of local officials to higher authorities.

The government of Yingquan District, Fuyang City of Anhui spent RMB 30 million (US$ 4.4 million) on building a luxurious office resembling the U.S. Capitol Building, colloquially calling it the “White House.” To pave the way for the “White House,” local authorities demolished schools built in the 1990s, and forced students to relocate to those constructed in the 60s.

After Li reported this to higher authorities, on Aug 26, 2007 the Yingquan District Procuratorate detained Li, his wife, and his son-in-law. His wife was detained for 37 days before she was released, while the son-in-law was officially arrested and charged. Li died in the prison hospital on March 13, 2008.

While the police claimed that Li had killed himself, his family saw this as an obvious lie. Mistrust of the authorities led people to start referring to Li’s death as a case of “being suicided.”

Falun Gong practitioners and their families have been telling countless similar stories since 1999 when the persecution of Falun Gong began. Jiang Zemin, then leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), ordered that the police, after torturing Falun Gong practitioners to death, should call the cases suicides.

Not a pretty story, and the further details are worse. These are the guys who harvest organs from their prisoners. I wonder how long Gitmo “detainees” would have lasted under the benevolent rule of the Chinese before they suicided?

Britons Covertly Tracked by Secret Street Scanners

Tens of thousands of Britons are being covertly tracked without their consent in a technology experiment which has installed scanners at secret locations in offices, campuses, streets and pubs to pinpoint people’s whereabouts.

The scanners, the first 10 of which were installed in Bath three years ago, are capturing Blue tooth radio signals transmitted from devices such as mobile phones, laptops and digital cameras, and using the data to follow unwitting targets without their permission.

It’s just an experiment. No harm done. Continue texting…

Thanks to CS for this one, since I don’t plan to blog on it. The story has been floating around for several days, but it seems so trivial somehow. Like New Yorkers care about in-your-face Muslim theatrics.

As CS aptly put it: “Allah Board”

Ads promoting Islam are to be placed on New York subway cars in September, but a U.S. congressman finds people sponsoring the messages unacceptable.

“I have no problem with the ad itself, but I have a very, very real problem with those behind it,” Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican, said Tuesday. He is urging the Metropolitan Transit Authority to reject the ads.

The campaign is to feature ads on 1,000 of the subway system’s roughly 6,200 cars. The main sponsor is a grass-roots organization, Islamic Circle of North America.

The ads, simple black-and-white panels, will feature key words or phrases about Islam on one side of the panel such as “Head Scarf?” or “Prophet Muhammad?” and the words “You deserve to know” along with the Web site address WhyIslam.org on the other side.

“The idea is to evoke certain thoughts in the mindset of the person who is looking at the ads and get them to a point where they can reflect upon certain words that one could define as hot words or keywords that get thrown around a lot but are not necessarily defined in the most proper context,” said New York University’s Imam Khalid Latif, a cleric who is promoting the project in a You Tube video created by the Islamic Circle.

The ads are supposed to coincide with Ramadan, in September. If they’re early enough in the month, what they will coincide with is 9/11. Dumb idea from some dumb folks looking for attention. The possible returns on this effort remind me of my brother-in-law’s solution for nuclear waste: “put it in plastic bags and leave it on the sidewalks in New York City. No one will notice.”
– – – – – – – –

I wanted to post on this one, but I won’t have time. Please read it. An important story several readers sent in. Serge Trifkovic has the essay here:

The spirit of the media frenzy surrounding the arrest of the former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic on July 21 is based entirely on the doctrine of non-equivalence inaugurated in 1992: Serbs willed the war, Muslims wanted peace; Serb crimes are bad and justly exaggerated, Muslim crimes are understandable.

There is a Russian TV interview (in English) with Trifkovic. He says Karadzic will never leave prison alive. I can’t find the link but it’s on “Russia Today”

From DH:

CAIR’s Medical School Grievance Theater

When Iram Qureshi of Dublin, Ohio was dismissed from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine last month after having to repeat her first year and then failing two “systems” in her second year after she stopped attending classes, she did what any normal American Muslim woman would seem to do these days — she called the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and sued.

Tragically, perhaps fatally one day for one of her future patients, a Kanawha County Circuit Court judge has granted her a temporary restraining order so that she could resume her “studies” and clinical rotation beginning this month while her dismissal appeal is reviewed, the Charleston Gazette reports. Curiously, the Charleston Gazette waits until half-way through their article before telling readers that the cause of her dismissal was poor academic performance, not religious discrimination.

Well, I guess we make sure to avoid Muslim osteopaths. If you’re of the male persuasion, she’ll refuse to treat you anyhow. Hope some guy brings a suit then.

From Ansamed, via Insubria, more news about da Brudderhood:

EGYPT: MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD HAS SECRET GROUP

The existence of a secret fundamentalist group within the Muslim Brotherhood was revealed by Abdel Sattar el Meligui, member of the Consultative Council of the organisation, to Cairòs daily Al Masri al Yom. The news, though, was denied by one of the organisation’s leaders, Ali Abdel Fattah. Meligui pointed out that the Brotherhood — banned by the law, but tolerated and with 88 MPs in Parliament — “does not have any tendency to use violence”.

Taqiyya times two right there.

Oh Those Fun-Loving Malmo Youths!

Esther in Europe has a post up about the pelting of the fire brigades. Or anyone else in a uniform:

A disturbing trend has developed in the Rosengård suburb of Malmo. Youth set fire to shrubbery, mopeds and buildings in order to bring the fire brigade. When they arrive, the firemen are subjected to verbal and physical jeering, spitballing, egg and stone throwing.

The situation for the fire brigade has worsened the last four years, but in just a few weeks the youth’s systematic prank had become more frequent. On June 12th the fire brigade was notified of a burning car and went to deal with the fire. One of the firemen was hit with a spitball in the back. When the 18 year old was asked for a reason he answered: I’ll shoot you.

Malmo has been a cesspit for quite some time. I remember reading about it way back when Fjordman had a blog — near the time dinosaurs roamed.

Our contributor, MNA, asks why these “youths” would do such things. Since I’m very tired, I will in turn ask our readers to offer suggestions about this phenomenon. It probably has to do with poverty and broken homes, right?

Another “Bulldozer” Terrorist Runs Amok in Jerusalem

I don’t have a link to this email news that just came in.

It is an eyewitness account, and in his words you can feel the adrenalin coursing through Mr. Sackett:

July 22, 2008

by Shmuel Sackett
Co-founder and International Director
Manhigut Yehudit

Today at 1:57 pm, I parked my car about 200 feet from the King David Hotel. I got out of the car, as did my wife, Rhonda and Manhigut Yehudit President Moshe Feiglin. We were headed to a lunch meeting with Ben Landa, Manhigut Chairman of the Board, who had arrived a few hours earlier and was staying in the King David. We started walking when – about 10 FEET IN FRONT OF US (no exaggeration) we saw a large bulldozer drop his huge bucket [perhaps he means a front loader – D] in an attempt to crush a woman crossing the street. Baruch Hashem (Thank G-d), she managed to avoid it by a few inches!

The bulldozer — now obviously to us driven by a terrorist — then raced into the middle of King David Street in an attempt to smash into a passing commuter bus. The driver quickly swerved out of the way yet the bulldozer managed to smash into the rear of the bus on the passenger side. The bus smashed into some guard rails but quickly turned down a side street by the Dan Panorama Hotel to avoid any further attacks by the bulldozer. That bus driver was an AMAZINGLY quick thinker and saved MANY lives!!

The Arab attacker – who lived in Jerusalem and had an Israeli identity card – continued driving the bulldozer down King David Street in the direction of the Inbal Hotel. I immediately started running after him at full speed – praying to Hashem that he would not injure any more Jews and that I would have the merit to personally kill him. He smashed into a parked car on the left — Baruch Hashem it was empty — then into two cars in front of him. In the first of those two cars he pinned a man inside, although he was just mildly injured. The second car he managed to completely flip over and seriously injure a man. I kept running towards the bulldozer.
– – – – – – – –
When I was about 20 feet away, a civilian came from the left. He started shooting into the cabin of the bulldozer. Then, from the right hand side, a Border Policeman shot about 7 bullets from his M-16. The bulldozer came to a stop and the terror was over.

I immediately ran back to the man that was seriously injured and saw that the lower part of his leg was severed. I called Dovid Shirel, who was in the King David Hotel already having lunch with Ben. Dovid is Manhigut Yehudit’s Educational Director and also a highly experienced paramedic. He came flying out of the hotel and was the first paramedic on the scene. He administered IV to the man and helped him until the ambulances arrived.

When I turned around I saw Moshe helping the injured man as well. Moshe spoke to him, found out his name and also that he was an attorney. Dovid told Moshe to keep talking to him since that would help keep him calm. I saw many people crying and screaming and tried the best I could to help relax my fellow Jews. It wasn’t easy.

Within minutes, police arrived as did the Israeli SWAT team. Helicopters flew overhead, police on horses charged in, ambulances and ZAKA motor scooters sped in and the media set up shop to start their reporting. Things happened faster than I would have believed.

[…]

People asked if anyone was killed and when we answered – they immediately said “Baruch Hashem” and put on a happy face. While it is true that we must thank Hashem for the fact that there were no fatalities, we must NEVER FORGET the injured. This young attorney may lose his leg. Even if doctors manage to re-attach it – his life is changed FOREVER!!!

And what about the trauma? What about the people that went into shock? What about the fear? What about the tears?

I do not know the Hebrew name of this attorney and do not want to reveal his family name, in case his family has not yet found out about his injury. Still, please pray for him. Have a nice young Jewish man in your prayers who may never walk again, G-d forbid. Have ALL of Klal Yisrael in your prayers because we REALLY need it!

From the wiki:

Manhigut Yehudit (Jewish Leadership) is a movement started by Moshe Feiglin and Shmuel Sackett to lead the State of Israel with, in their words, “authentic Jewish values.” This has been widely interpreted, both by Manhigut supporters and outside observers, as closer to Orthodox Judaism but without a Galut or Exile Mentality. The movement opposes religious coercion, and wants Jewish identity as prescribed by the Torah or Bible and authentic Jewish teachings to become Israel’s official culture.

In 2005, Manhigut Yehudit became the largest faction within the Likud Central Committee, the body that decides Likud Party policy.

There is more information on Manhigut Yehudit at the link.

Meanwhile, will Israel begin to curb Arab jobs within their borders? Is it not suicidal to continue with the present program? Are there enough Israeli workers to fill these jobs that potential terrorist now have?

Anyone with answers, please step up to the plate.

NPR and Its Sordid Sponsors: What They Omit

Like most of our American readers, I find National Public Radio a national disgrace. This tax-subsidized operation is shameless.

Known since the 1980’s in our family as “National Palestinian Radio” due to its long history of skewed Poorpali stories – Israel is always the bad guy on NPR – their programming is very difficult to listen to, especially if you’re driving. The morning and evening “news” shows are timed for the usual commuter rush hours, but listening to the blatantly one-sided attacks on anything American gets old no matter what you’re doing.

Silence is preferable to anything on offer at NPR.

Thus, reading Michelle Malkin’s recent post (or rather, a post by see-dubya on her blog) about NPR’s latest “victims” was amusing in a mordant kind of way.

For our European readers, you should know that NPR looooves victims – that is, it loves victims purportedly created by the sheer meanness of conservative policy. You should have heard the endless accounts on the homeless crisis during Bush I’s presidency. Once Clinton was in, homeless people were disappeared, shoved back under the mat.

By the time Bush II came on board I could no longer bear listening to them so I’ve no idea if they ever returned to that subject. Probably not. They had better fish to fry with the ‘fraud’ of the election itself. In fact, I remember the panic in Linda What’s-Her-Name’s voice on election night when she discovered Bush was leading in Florida.

Come to think of it, that was my final NPR moment. Her bias was so blatant that as I turned off the radio, I knew if NPR were the last news outlet on earth I would go without. Basta! Listening to the endless bemoaning of the state of affairs in the US can wear on your sense of reality. No wonder the left is so full of Henny-Pennys. They listen to this biased viewpoint day in and day out with no relief or perspective. It must be like living in a desert.

Which brings me to a recent post on Michelle Malkin’s blog concerning our august national news source. In “Food crisis, global depression worsens” we get NPR’s take on some people who can no longer afford meat. Here’s the snip cee-dubya used:
– – – – – – – –

So Nunez and her daughter are mostly stuck at home.

The rising cost of food means their money gets them about a third fewer bags of groceries – $100 used to buy about 12 bags of groceries, but now it’s more like seven or eight. So they cut back on expensive items like meat, and they don’t buy extras like ice cream anymore. Instead, they eat a lot of starches like potatoes and noodles.

Does NPR then do a report on subsidized and/or regulated agriculture and how it drives up prices? Heck, no. Not when Archer-Daniels-Midland is one of their big “donors” (being free radio, they don’t have sponsors and icky commercials. Instead, at intervals they prominently and favorably mention conglomerate funders like ADM). Among many other products, ADM manufactures food poisons additives like high fructose corn syrup. Last year, their profits worldwide were $44 billion. Nope, ADM is not on NPR’s list of acceptable news stories.

This connection is germane to the story on Michelle Malkin’s blog. As you know, high fructose corn syrup has been fingered as one of the main villains in the global obesity epidemic. This product is ubiquitous, appearing in most “low-fat” diet foods, in salad dressings, and in the majority of processed foods like dry cereal.

Malkin follows up NPR’s claim by going to their website to see a picture of Nunez and her adult daughter. I strongly urge you to click on the link and take a look at the image capture she has up from NPR. These poor, starving victims – the ones who can’t afford ice cream anymore so they are reduced (so to speak) to consuming potatoes and starches – are morbidly obese by anyone’s scale.

At their current weight, a food crisis is just what the doctor ordered for these two women, who are no doubt Type 2 diabetics with lots of related health problems. If NPR really cared, they’d start a fund for gastric by-pass surgery for these victims…victims of ADM and ignorance, that is.

And if they had any integrity at all, Victim Radio would start their fund collecting by knocking on the door of Archer-Daniels-Midland. Restitution is the least ADM could begin to do.

Fat chance of that happening.

Al Q: It’s Okay to Kill Other Muslims While Jihading

They’re all heretics and apostates anyway, right? So bomb ’em…

Reuters reports and al-Arabiya repeats:

The suicide bomber who carried out an attack on the Danish embassy in Islamabad last month came from the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, an al-Qaeda leader said in a rare interview with a Pakistani news channel.

Geo News aired the interview late on Monday with veteran al-Qaeda member Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, in which he elaborated on the June 2 attack that killed six people, all of them Pakistanis.

As the article notes, al-Yazid is the third in command of al Q in Afghanistan. He’s the fifth person to occupy the spot since his predecessors have either been captured or killed, but this guy’s professional career dates way back in the recent history of jihad:

Mustafa Ahmed Muhammad Uthman Abu al-Yazid…often shortened to Mustafa Abu al-Yazid and also known as Sheikh Saeed, is an Egyptian Islamic militant and the current al-Qaeda commander of operations in Afghanistan.

Al-Yazid was imprisoned for three years in Egypt because of involvement in the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat in 1981. During this time or shortly after he joined Egyptian Islamic Jihad, and in 1988 went to Afghanistan where he played a role in founding al-Qaeda.

Al-Yazid has two wives and several sons and daughters, including one married to the son of Sheikh Omar Abd al-Rahman.

On December 27 al-Yazid is said to have claimed responsibility for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, telling Adnkronos International that “We terminated the most precious American asset which vowed to defeat [the] mujahideen.” The article further claims that al-Yazid stated that al-Qaeda second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahiri ordered the killing in October 2007. The Asia Times Online also reported that it had received a claim of responsibility from al-Yazid by telephone.

[The wiki on Yazid has the sources for the citations mentioned]

Reuters continues:

Yazid defended the tactic of using suicide attacks and was unapologetic about the fact that the attack on the embassy killed Pakistanis, including one security guard on the gate and two policemen.

Al-Qaeda justifies killing fellow Muslims by deeming them to have become heretics, excommunicated from the Islamic community because of their loss of faith.

Al Q has an excuse for everything, backed up and approved by the imams in Afghanistan.

The most interesting aspect to this story was the suggestion left by a commenter:
– – – – – – – –
“Moslem Montasir” says:

The bombing of embassies will lead us to nowhere, we gain nothing at all, the embassy will not close because of one bomb, it will not close even after 10 bombs, they will build a better one and naturally a harder to blow on the same site. You want Jihad, learn Danish, travel to Denmark and teach Danish people about Islam, we suffer in the process, it is ok, that’s a better Jihad than blowing up buildings, believe me.

This guy obviously knows the CAIR rules of engagement.

Hat tip: The ever-entertaining and enlightening TB

The News from Hither and Yon on July 21st 2008

Below are some of the news tips sent to Gates of Vienna today. I didn’t get to all of them. And I omitted the more overtly depressing items; a body can slog through just so much.

For example, China is stepping up executions in order to keep the populace in line for the Olympics. But you knew that, and I don’t want to report about it in any detail. As the horrors bleed past their firewalls, we’ll all be inundated soon enough.

Italy: Immigrants urge arrest of Moroccan drink-drive suspect

Immigrants in the northern Italian city of Padua are urging the arrest of a Moroccan who allegedly fled to his native country after running down and killing a young Italian, Simone Bacchini, while drink-driving.

The group of immigrants, led by Moroccan journalist Muhammed Ahmed were to launch their appeal during a documentary to be aired on Italian television late on Monday.

Bacchini’s family was also due to read a message to Morocco’s Ambassador to Italy during the programme, asking him to pressure the Moroccan authorities to arrest Bacchini’s alleged killer…

The EU is supposed to get involved also. Good on those Italian immigrants, though. Gives me hope.

EGYPT: NGO DENOUNCES HIGHER INTER-RELIGIOUS TENSION

Simply put, that headline means the homegrown ngo, The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, is complaining out loud about:

  • the worsening treatment of Copts;
  • the court blocking of an award to Muslim poet Helmi Salem, because one of his works purportedly contained something offensive to Islam;
  • the armed attack against Abu Fana Monastery in southern Egypt over a dispute on the ownership of land [this has been going on for years, and the monastery is forbidden to build a wall to protect itself. Christians can’t build walls];
  • the decision by the League of Islamic Research to prevent the relatives of a Christian who has converted to Islam to inherit from that person.

And the beat goes on. But at least an Egyptian group is doing the complaining this time around.

An actual election piece here on GoV. This one is “The Op-Ed by McCain” that The Old Gray Doxy wouldn’t publish.

I guess not. The New York Times has already punched the Obama ticket. Frank Rich is positively drooling.

Nonetheless, McCain wrote a good essay here. It deserves a wider audience than it will get.

San Francisco is a Refuge City for Felonious Illegal Immigrants

The man charged with killing a father and two sons on a San Francisco street last month was one of the youths who benefited from the city’s long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation…

This fine specimen of humanity had as one of his “juvenile” offenses the beating of a pregnant woman.

San Francisco is so easy to loathe. You can hate it just for the parking mess, never mind its willful harboring of criminals.

LEBANON: HEZBOLLAH DELIVERS 133 BODIES OF ARAB ‘MARTYRS’

The bodies of more than 130 fighters of Palestinian and other Arab nationalities, returned by Israel last week within the exchange of bodies and prisoners with Hezbollah, were delivered today by the Shiite movement to ten Palestinian factions in Lebanon.

According to today’s issue of pan-Arab daily al-Hayat out of the 197 bodies of “martyrs” returned by Israel last Wednesday, 64 were bodies of militants of the Party of God, while among the remaining 133 appeared 92 bodies of Palestinians coming from the refugee camps in Syria and Jordan, but also 41 of fighters of various Arab nationalities: 13 Lebanese, 11 Syrian, nine Tunisian, four Jordanian, two Libyan, an Iraqi and a Kuwaiti.

[…]

Moreover, Palestinian sources…affirmed that for 35 bodies (including the one of Dalal Mughrabi, mastermind in 1978 of an attack in Israel which claimed the lives of 36 people) “the identification operation will require more time than envisaged, as Israel did not provide any document or photograph”.

We all know how carefully and respectfully the poor Palis treat the bodies of Israelis. How thoughtless of the them not to reciprocate the kindness.

IRAQI OIL TO RESUME FLOW TO SYRIAN PORT SOON

Iraq will resume “soon” the oil export through the Syrian port of Banyas, on the Mediterranean coast, spokesman of Iraqi Oil Ministry, Assem Jihad, affirmed. “The ministry has negotiated with an international company (whose name and nationality has not been revealed) the restoration of the oil pipeline which links the refinery in Beiji (western Iraq) to the port of Banyas, out of service since the middle of the 1990s,” Jihad said…

The pipeline to Banyas has a capacity of 200,000 barrels per day…

Iraq exports currently some 2 million barrels per day, mainly through its southern terminals in Al Basrah and Al Amara.

WHAT?? No oil for the evil American invaders?? We wuz tricked.

CATALONIA HAS A DOCTOR CRISIS

Due to the heavy shortage of doctors, Catalonia “will import” them from abroad and they will start working even before their certificates are harmonized by the Health Ministry.

… According to the Health Ministry estimates, the whole of Spain currently lacks 3,000 medics, mostly general practitioners…Spanish professionals show little interest in working in primary care.

According to the results of the internal medicine resident selection last year, 13% of the 1,859 jobs put on competition remained vacant. The brain drain of Spanish doctors abroad, in Portugal or in other EU states, in search of better paid job and major social prestige, is one of the main problems of the national health service and has led to an emergency situation in Catalonia.

And, yes, the specialists already ensconced in their practices are raising a ruckus about “imports”. It’s not the patients, stupid, it’s the power grab.

The New Media Journal is Amil Amani’s new website. New to me, at least, since the last time I saw it, he’d hadn’t updated for awhile. Now I see why. This space is dense with news you won’t get elsewhere.

At random:

A guy stops a car in the city of Shiraz in Iran and asks the driver to give him some gasoline, pretending that his car has run out of fuel. The total stranger siphons gas from his own car and gives it to him. Suddenly some other guys show up from their hiding places, tie the man to a tree, douse him with the gasoline he had generously given to a total stranger, set him on fire and speed away in the sham “out-of-gasoline” car. Why? The target of the torching was a non-Muslim, a Baha’i. The “sin” of not being a Muslim made him a deserving party for being burned alive. These thugs of Allah, the savage torchers, call themselves the Unknown Soldiers of the Lord of the Age, (Imam Zaman) the Shiite’s much revered and expected savior.

To make matters worse, all manner of “good Muslims” walked by and didn’t do a lick to help the man. Miraculously the man was able to put the fire out and call the police on his cell phone. It took the police over 30 minutes to respond and take the man to the station for questioning. Now that’s the Islam that is on the march. It has penetrated deeply and spread widely in Europe. It is changing Europe to its ways and holds every promise of doing the same to the United States…

Amani is an Iranian in exile. His site is excellent. A lot of work, a lot of news.

An Anti-Sharia Immigrant Runs for Congress

A reader from the Volunteer State has sent us a request to publicize the person she plans to vote for.

Before I give you what she has to say, let me point out that this man has actually worked for a living. He is not an attorney and he has not lived off the government. These things are rarities in politics in the US. For these virtues alone, he’d be a breath of fresh air in Washington.

Oh…and he doesn’t seem to have been a community organizer, either.

Our reader says:

It is fitting that Mr. Kumar, an immigrant from India, should be one of the only American politicians to take a stand against Sharia, Islamic Terrorism, and the moral relativism and confusion of the loud left in our country. As one of the few rational voices on the national stage running for national office Mr. Kumar should have a fair hearing before the American people and at least the people of this Congressional District. Up to this point, he has not be given such a hearing.

Here’s his biography from the website:

Vijay was born in 1954 in Hyderabad, India, to a conservative middle class family. He studied classics, political science, and philosophy in India. In 1979, Vijay emigrated to the United States because he felt uplifted by the values and possibilities inherent in the American way of life.

In 1983, Vijay married Robin Minix, a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky. In keeping with his conservative family values, Vijay and Robin have been married for twenty-five years.

The Kumar family attends Bellevue Community Church in Nashville, Tennessee.

Robin has worked for Vanderbilt University for more than twenty years, and currently is a program coordinator for the medical center. They have one son, age 17.

Vijay is a staunch supporter of the father being an integral and ongoing presence in the family. He fervently believes that absentee fathers create future generations of absentee fathers.

From 1977 to 1979, Vijay lived in Iran, working in human resources for a European construction company. He witnessed firsthand the radical transformation of Iran from a modern nation to a repressed, fundamentalist state.

– – – – – – – –

For twenty years, Vijay was employed in the insurance industry in administration and sales and marketing. For nearly three years he ran his own insurance business. Since 2005, he has been employed as a sales representative for a leading telecommunications company.

While raising and providing for his family, Vijay has been active in politics, volunteering in key positions in several successful political campaigns. His interests include political philosophy, Middle East and Indian sub-continent politics and, first and foremost, American politics. When he’s not being an active and invested dad, husband, and wage earner, Vijay enjoys traveling and nature.

From the first day Vijay set foot on American soil, he knew that he must have been born with an American soul.

Here is an excerpt from an interview with Jamie Glazov at Front Page magazine:

[…]

Kumar…Right now, our country is dealing with issues – issues like illegal immigration, healthcare reform, the War on Terror – that will shape our politics for the rest of this century. Like many Americans, I’ve grown to feel that the politicians of this country are simply not accomplishing anything on these fronts. As low as the President’s approval rating has gotten, the approval rating for Congress is even lower. So, as a concerned and informed citizen, I’ve decided to run for Congress and help put things on the right track. That’s what living in a democracy is all about.

FP:What has made you make an anti-Sharia platform the central tenet of your campaign?

Kumar:The main focus of my campaign is the War on Terror. What so many politicians do not seem to realize is that our struggle is against more than just “terror.” Terrorism is simply a method, not an end itself. Terrorism is just one tactic being used by Islamic extremists in their effort to force their way of life on the rest of the world. Ultimately, then, this is a struggle over whether the nations of this world will be ruled under Sharia law or not. As Omar Ahmad, founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said: “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant.”

FP:What are your thoughts about CAIR?

Kumar:CAIR is a direct manifestation of Mohammed’s Sunna and jihad. CAIR is actually just one part of Islam’s strategy to annihilate the Western culture. It is far more dangerous than any Mohammed Atta or any other jihadists.

Lies and deceit are CAIR’s stock-in-trade. They claim to be akin to a “Muslim NAACP,” but everyone from the Department of Homeland Security, to FBI counterterrorism chiefs, to moderate American Muslims recognizes the extreme rhetoric that CAIR endorses. At least five of CAIR’s board members and employees have been linked to terrorism-related activities. They are fifth columnists, preying upon our values of tolerance and multiculturalism.

But CAIR is just one of an untold number of Islamic organizations in our government and university centers. People forget that Mohammed’s last words were to keep giving the money to kafir ambassadors and that is what Islam is doing in Washington, DC. Capitol Hill is awash in Saudi money and our dhimmi political types cannot get enough of it…

A further note: Mr. Kumar is endorsed by Muslims Against Sharia. He must be doing something right.

Manly Men are Fighting a Rearguard Action

Adieu to Manly MenStolen shamelessly from Downeast blog, here is the latest in haute couture from Paris. Are we being devoured from within? Yes, we are.

This poor fool doesn’t look happy about it, either. Nonetheless he was willing to parade around in that ugly skirt.

It used to be that fashion designers seemed to hate women. Now they appear to have morphed into plain old “gender” equality misanthropic idjits.

I can’t wait to see this fashion take hold in biker circles…except it would cover over all those painfully acquired tattoos, so that’s out. Maybe they can wear his cute hat?

Fashion aside (it being well known that women are more apt to suffer for fashion’s sake than are men) I must ask our male readers an important question regarding logistics:
– – – – – – – –
how practical would this get up be whilst standing in front of a urinal, especially after a few pints? You guys would be literally rubbing elbows as you attempted to hold up this material with one hand, and with the other…well, you get the picture.

Could this cause problems? Could you sue the designer?

On Being a Victim…or, Life Without a Skin

Thanks to TB for this Monday morning gem.

I like Condell’s acerbic wit and his frankness, though as our readers know, I don’t always agree with his views…
– – – – – – – –
Here is one occasion in which we see the same problem in the same light. I mean the current form of Islam – creeping, creepy Wahhabism flowing out of the coffers of Saudi Arabia’s petroleum reserves.

Money not only talks, but in this case it whinges and whines and weeps all the way to court. It’s past due time to grow up, but then how would all the bombers and beheaders and lawyers who defend them manage to make a living?

Mr. Condell asserts that Islam is not a victim. He dares to offend the skinless ones, who look for insults and slurs under every rock. An example of this whiny phenomenon is Cat Stevens, who makes a good living suing those who dare to offend his delicate sensibilities.

Mr. Stevens could take a leaf from Cassius Clay’s book. Cassius-turned-Muhammad never sued anyone, and Lord knows he got lots of hits for his conversion. But then again, Mr. Stevens is not a mere pugilist. No indeed. Jusuf is a sensitive artist and one must tread carefully lest he be offended.

Life is difficult indeed without a skin.

The Baron is Away, But the Tips Keep Coming

These are not in their usual format; the Baron’s macros are on his computer, not mine.

Nonetheless here are the stories from hither and yon…and the other usual suspects:

MADRID

A groundbreaking Saudi-sponsored interfaith dialogue on Friday, July 18, called for criminalizing blasphemy and for drafting an international agreement to combat terrorism.

“(The conference) calls for international organizations to work to issue a document stating respect of faiths and religious symbols and criminalizing those insulting them,” said the conference in a final communiqué.

Spain: Acquitted bomb suspect to be deported to Syria

Ghalyoun, a Syrian from the western city of Homs, reportedly owned an apartment in the Spanish capital, Madrid, where members of the Islamist cell that carried out the attacks were alleged to have met.

British Captive Commits Suicide in May. The Captors Finally Get Around to Notifying the UK

A Shiite militia that has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of five Britons in Iraq more than a year ago said one of its hostages committed suicide, according to a British newspaper report on Sunday.

Sunday laugh. The Baron looked at this closely before he left. As far as he could tell it wasn’t photo-shopped. But you can weigh in on that one.

Definitely worth a click.

Oh those clever Chinese and their honey traps.

From the UK:

Ready or not, they’re coming through.

One version of this in the email, and another in the comments.

Both depressing.

An unfortunate entanglement, but…

a happy ending thanks to a heroic pilot.

They Say Le Pen "Mopped the Floor" with Sarkozy

THE SPEECH OF JEAN-MARIE LE PEN AT STRASBOURG

THURSDAY 10 JULY 2008

A video of Le Pen’s attack on Sarkozy at the European Parliament can be found here. Whether or not you understand French, I recommend watching this just for the times the camera pans to a dour Sarkozy, listening to Le Pen’s fervent attack. Stay till the bitter end, when the camera fades to a still frame of an unhappy French President. Great image!

Perhaps some of our European readers can tell whether Le Pen is being laughed at or laughed with. There are certainly some amused faces, but the joke is not obvious to this American.

Here is a transcript in French of Le Pen’s speech.

The following English translation was made by a commenter at fdesouche. Other commenters offer their versions. I particularly like this translation of one sentence:

“Alas for you, the Irish People’s will has foiled your scheme.”. That sounds more Le Pen-esque.

Mister President,

You are currently in charge, for the next 6 months, in this rotating and short-lived position, as President of the European Union.

Contrary to the majority of the French electorate, you have revealed yourself as a zealous europeist, even daring to reintroduce (under a hardly changed format of the Lisbon Treaty) the Constitution that the Dutch, alongside the French, rejected in 2005.

Your project to re-introduce the Lisbon Treaty has failed again because it has stumbled on the will of the Irish people. Therefore, it is null and void, despite all the manoeuvers to try to impose the will of the reining euro-internationalist camarilla on the European people.

As a young deputy, I voted in 1957 against the Treaty of Rome, which was the first stage of a process aiming to lead to the United States of Europe according to its promoters: Monnet and Coudenhove-kalergi among others.

Given that this Tower of Babel was only able to be built on the debris of the nations and initially of my fatherland France, I have been its determined adversary ever since. It is said that globalization involves fundamental changes everywhere to which we must subdue ourselves.

But the truth is that, in the world, the nations are getting stronger, supported by enthusiastic patriotism, except in only one place, Europe, where nations and fatherlands are sold off, dismantled, demoralized for the profit of a project without power, without identity, while the foreign migratory waves invade it gradually and that the opening of our economic borders, delivers it to the unrestrained competition of the rest of the world.

– – – – – – – –

None of the promises made (so that Europeans could accept the loss of their independence, their sovereignty, their identity, of their culture) were kept – neither economic growth, neither full employment, neither prosperity, nor safety. And it is anguish which prevails at the start of the coming systemic crisis: energy, food and financial meltdown. By then, it is true the media carousel will continue to turn; yesterday, the European soccer tournament, tennis at Roland Garros, tomorrow the Olympic games of Beijing and today the miraculous saga of an icon: Ingrid who laughs, who cries, who prays, who comes and goes supported by your fraternal arm.

In your desire to be the libertador (the liberator in English), you were misled in accepting negotiations with the terrorists of the FARC. But it is neither you, nor Mr Chavez who released the Colombian Senator Mrs Betancourt. It is President Uribe, who with tenacity, against the general mobilization of world progressives, gained a decisive victory over criminal terrorism.

You multiplied the approaches to negotiate in vain and you even went to the length of inviting the repented communist terrorists of the FARC to profit from asylum in France, but to protect them from whom? From Uribe the democrat! While you were at it, why not the talibans, the Hezbollah, the Tamils Tigers? You are like the amphisbene, dear to Césaire.

Do not doubt at any moment, Mr. President, that all your talent as media director will not be enough to avert the brewing crisis which you will have to face before the end of the year. Your Europe is a drifting vessel, windswept and beaten by the waves. It is the only region in the world to have deliberately dismantled its political and moral structures.

Without borders, gradually invaded by a mass immigration which is only at its beginning, economically ruined by the ultra-liberalism, socially impoverished, weakened demographically, without spirit and military strength. At best, it will fall under the American protectorate, at worse it will become a slave of the dhimmitude.

It is now long overdue to give up on the deadly illusion of federalism and to build a Europe of the nations, united in concrete alliances, probably more modest, but more effective.

Both failures, the Constitution and the Treaty, must be used as warnings. The people of Europe do not want them. They will not allow them to be forced upon them because they do not want to die.

Oh dear, I forgot. Mr. Le Pen is a racist. Therefore everything he says is wrong. People don’t mind dying if Mr Sarkozy and the other EU elites decide it’s a good idea.

Never mind.
