Saman Abbas was a young Pakistani woman living in Italy who was murdered in April of 2021, and is thought to have been honor-killed by her relatives. Saman’s father Shabbar Abbas absconded to Pakistan shortly after her death, and Italian prosecutors have been attempting to extradite him since last summer. The government of Pakistan kept putting up obstacles, but now a Pakistani judge has given the go-ahead for the extradition. Mr. Abbas can still appeal the decision to a higher level, however.

Saman: Yes from Pakistani judge to extradition of father
Now Shabbar Abbas will be able to appeal to the High Court of Islamabad
July 4, 2023
The ruling magistrate of the district court of Islamabad has expressed a favorable opinion on the extradition of Shabbar Abbas, the father of Saman, the 18-year-old who died at Novellara and who, according to the prosecutor of Reggio Emilia, was killed by her parent and four other relatives.
According to what has been learned, the judge rejected the defense’s latest bail request.
Now Abbas will be able to challenge the decision to the High Court of Islamabad. The final decision will be with the Pakistani Ministry of Justice.
