Morally Corrupt Stupidity or Malicious Culpability?

Omid Nouripour is the leader of Alliance 90/The Greens (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) in Germany. Mr. Nouripour was born in Iran, and immigrated to Germany with his parents when he was a teenager.

The Green leader is alarmed by Salafist groups agitating for a caliphate in Germany, and thinks they should be banned.

Green Party leader wants to ban Caliphate Association

Green Party leader Omid Nouripour discovers the simple solutions for himself. “Muslim Interactive”, known from the caliphate demonstrations in Hamburg? Forbid. Foreign threats? Deport. But how realistic is that, really?

Berlin

The federal chairman of the Green Party, Omid Nouripour, has called for a ban on the Islamist group “Muslim Interaktiv”. “The very group that is carrying out these caliphate demonstrations must be banned. And to be honest, I don’t have an answer as to why it hasn’t happened yet,” Nouripour said on Wednesday in an interview with the Bild newspaper.

Anyone who calls for an Islamic theocracy is in opposition to the free, democratic basic order. “This is also a reason why not only the demonstration should be banned, but also the organization that wants it,” argued Nouripour.

Do you know what upsets me most about these #Caliphate demos? The problem is not these 1,100 Islamists who demonstrated here. The problem is that NOTHING is heard from 99% of the remaining 5,298,000 Muslims in this country! No counter-demonstrations, no outcry, no condemnation of these demos. This behavior, regardless of the reasons, makes you complicit when all Muslims are lumped together. Finally stand up and show your face! Nothing can be expected from current politics. So citizens have to vote for rules and parties at the ballot box that restore the rule of law. For me it’s just #WerteUnion/ValuesUnion. [tweet]

Faeser wants to punish calls for a caliphate

It is unclear whether calling for a caliphate per se is a criminal offense. According to the interpretation of the Central State Security Office of the Hamburg Public Prosecutor’s Office, this is not the case. A “concrete action” is needed, such as direct calls for crimes and clear plans for a coup. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) announced on Tuesday that she wanted to examine whether the call for a caliphate could be fundamentally banned. [Banning the call is not going to stop Islam and its more than 1400-year-old mission. What Faeser is doing here is the way a complete nincompoop would deal with a problem.]

In addition to banning “Muslim Interactive,” Nouripour would like to see more consistent action against Islamists overall. This requires more police and regulatory authorities. Currently there is a lack of staff here. [Well, I guess this is going exactly as planned.]

Nouripour also explained how, in his view, criminal Islamists should be dealt with. “And if the people are German citizens, then they are in prison. But if you are not a German citizen, there is a rule in the penal code that if a certain sentence is passed, people will of course be dealt with under immigration law. Means: leave the country.” [Yes, we have seen how well this law has been applied when the “state” wasn’t attacked directly, just its tax-paying citizens. Hypocrites.]

Afterword from the translator:

At first they fill the public pool with ravenous sharks, then they throw them the baby with the bathwater, but when the sharks enter their private pool… Yeah… then, and only then do they notice the problem. But instead of removing the sharks from the public pool they want to monitor the private pool more vigorously. After all, what do they care about blood in the public pool? These people make me sick.

  1. Re: “Anyone who calls for an Islamic theocracy is in opposition to the free, democratic basic order. ‘This is also a reason why not only the demonstration should be banned, but also the organization that wants it,’ argued Nouripour.”

I’d better start looking for condiments for my serving of crow, since I am one of those skeptics who believed that men like Mr. Nouripour didn’t exist in places like Germany. This is one of those times one doesn’t mind being shown to be wrong, because it suggests that perhaps not everyone in modern Germany has lost their minds.

Nouripour looks old-enough to recall the days of the Ayatollah Khomeini in revolutionary post-Shah Iran in 1979 and the theocratic dictatorship which followed. If his family fled that nation for Germany, then perhaps he knows first-hand whereof he speaks. That’s hardship-enough for any one person, and that doesn’t even delve into the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s, which cost millions of lives on both sides, and untold destruction as well.

Mr. Nouripour is probably engaged in wishful thinking if he believes Muslims in Germany are going to rise up, en-mass, to protest the emerging caliphate. The fact that the German government are either traitors to their own kind, or show about as much backbone as an invertebrate in the face of these developments, only emboldens the hard-liners that much more.

And since the fundamentalists and hardliners are having so much success in advancing their agenda, that leaves practically-speaking, very little leeway in which opponents of it can maneuver. I hope that Mr. Nouripour has good personal security and has his wits about him. If he isn’t careful, he may find a price (death fatwa) upon his head… since that is the eventual fate of so many who dissent from the umma.

    • When push comes to shove, this 3rd worlder will side with the rest of the bloody muslims, purge all of them until none are left.

  2. “A ‘concrete action’ is needed, such as direct calls for crimes and clear plans for a coup.”

But these are clearly stated in islamic ‘holy’ scriptures. This has consequences…

  3. I think that when the caliphate rises he will be the first to scream “Alahu Snackbar” and show his dedication to the muslim cause by shoving his green gays colleagues from a high rise building.
    Anybody thinks otherwise?

    • @ Alex Lund

That remains to be seen, but the possibility exists. That’s the dilemma for the infidels: How to assess when a given individual Muslim is being honest when dealing with you. Of course, trust is an issue for everyone dealing with someone they don’t know, but the issue of Islamic and the Muslim identity certainly complicates things. It isn’t just every creed or faith which spells out in such detail how the believer is to deal with the unbeliever. The Koran, Hadiths, and the Sira make it quite explicit for those willing to investigate the matter.

Based upon these sources alone, it would be very difficult for any non-Muslim to trust a Muslim. The difficulty lies in the fact that not all of the members of the umma are alike. For every one of the ones which wants to scream jihadist slogans while trying to separate your head from your body, there are probably a hundred, even a thousand, who would rather get along and not make waves. The number may be higher than that.

Pareto’s Law applies, or in plain language, the 80-20 rule. Mass movements are led by the most-devout of the followers of the cause, whatever it is. Of that twenty percent, one-fifth are more-devoted than the others, and so on – until it is narrowed down to a small cadre of highly-motivated ‘true believers’ as Eric Hoffer termed them, the ones who end up guiding the rest of the followers.

To bring this full circle, regarding Mr. Nouripour, only time and his actions – or lack of them – will tell the tale of who he is, and what he believes. There are dissidents in the Islamic world, and he may be one of them – or not – we’ll just have to wait and see.

      • While I hope you are right, I cannot shake the spectre of Taqiyya, e.g. that the muslims lie to us.
I remember an old article where muslims were sorted according to the legendary movie “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”

The good muslim cuts your throat without hiding his allegiance.
The bad muslim will be nice but when his pals take power he will kill you.
The ugly muslim will pretend to be westernized and will collect information about our weaknesses and will try to be your friend so that when the time comes he can kill more efficiently.

      • In God(not allah) you trust, all muzzy’s are suspect because you can’t trust anyone of them. Wishful thinking on your part gets people killed.
