Corrupt Governments Partnered With Corrupt Corporations — What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

The following video from the AUF1 TV channel in Germany discusses the recently concluded conference hosted by the World Economic Forum in Davos. The topic in focus is “public-private partnerships”, where gigantic global corporations get their financial tentacles into the affairs of formerly sovereign states.

Video transcript:

00:00   The order issued at this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos
00:04   was “Global censorship against the great danger of disinformation”
00:09   as well as the demand to governments to strengthen cooperation with corporations.
00:14   The talk is about public-private partnerships, in English “public-private partnerships”, or PPP.
00:20   This means a contractually regulated cooperation between the public sector
00:25   and private sector companies in the form of a “special purpose partnership”.
00:30   In doing so, governments have to subordinate their policies to the interests of corporations, which
00:34   are often not in the interest of the citizens. They thus give up their sovereignty and neutrality.
00:40   According to the OECD paper from 2022, PPPs are corruptible
00:45   and prevent competition by restricting their calls for tender.
00:48   They enable the bypassing of democratic processes and conceal the real expenses
00:53   through extra-budgetary financing. This could endanger the sustainability of public finances
00:58   and thus lead to a to a downgrading of credit ratings.
01:03   This, in turn, would worsen the financial conditions for the state.
01:07   The prime example of a misguided corporate partnership was delivered
01:11   by EU Commission Chairman Ursula von der Leyen during the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines.
01:16   It was a billion-dollar PPP with pharmaceutical companies,
01:20   which was sealed in 2020 with top secret contracts.
01:24   The risk was shifted onto the EU states, which still pay for unnecessary vaccines.
01:30   The same Ursula von der Leyen now called on the government in Davos
01:35   to fight “disinformation” in partnerships with the private sector.
01:39   PPPs are nothing new.
01:42   Developing countries especially like to make use of this construct,
01:46   because they have no money, which is primarily due to the rampant corruption there.
01:51   Now Western governments are also dependent on them in view of their high debt.
01:56   In fact, PPPs are not an effective means.
02:00   They only help corporations or the oligarchs behind them to take over states.
02:06   And that is probably why Davos has praised them and put PPPs on the agenda in 2022.
02:12   In the same year, an OECD document was published to cover the PPPs.
02:18   In the previous year, the World Health Organization, WHO,
02:22   called for governments to work closely with corporations to implement its health policy.
02:28   Obviously, as an advance performance for the global pandemic treaty,
02:32   which the WHO wants to push through.
02:41   The taxes are clear and well understood.

  1. “Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State.”

Benito Mussolini, October 28, 1925 in a speech at Milan’s Scala theater.

Socialism, of any stripe, cannot transcend merely theoretical wishful thinking without Fascism. It is Socialism’s bone, with narcissism its sinew, and fanaticism its muscle.

  2. “Didn’t fascism demand the same crap?”

    You betcha.

“History keeps repeating itself and only the names and dates change.
“FASCISM recognizes the real needs which gave rise to SOCIALISM and trade unionism, giving them due weight in the…CORPORATIVE SYSTEM in which divergent interests are coordinated…in the unity of the State.” —Benito Mussolini (1932)
