Marion Maréchal: “There is a Risk for the French People”

Below is another excerpt from a recent TV talk show featuring Marion Maréchal. The first excerpt was posted here on Wednesday.

As pointed out by JohnK in the comments, Ms. Maréchal’s interlocutor is not the presenter, as I had assumed, but a political opponent: Mathilde Panot, the president of the La France Insoumise group (Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s party) in the National Assembly. I can’t help but notice how badly she comes off in comparison to Marion Maréchal. How bloated her face looks as she smirks and grimaces through her opponent’s remarks! While Ms. Maréchal is elegant, trim, and well-coiffed. If appearance alone were the deciding factor, the latter would definitely come out ahead. And what she says is so reasonable, and true, and appropriate — how could anyone ever prefer Ms. Panot? But then, I’m prejudiced.

Many thanks to HeHa for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Video transcript:

00:00   I wish we could control the people who are coming to our country today, because I consider
00:04   that if there is no control and regulation, there is a risk for the French people.
00:07   You see, I focused on the last ten days and the dramatic cases of insecurity.
00:12   Just on these last ten days, I did not go back very far.
00:15   And I came across these three news items, but which are, in my opinion,
00:18   a particularly abject social phenomenon. I came across that case happened in Les Yvelines,
00:21   where a 65-year-old woman, you may have heard,
00:24   who had just had surgery for lung cancer. She was kidnapped and raped
00:28   by an Ivorian illegal who has been under OQTF [obligation to leave France] since 2016.
00:32   I came across the case that happened on December 11, in Avignon, of a 14-year-old girl,
00:36   who was also raped in a squatting area by an illegal
00:40   just after he had earlier tried to rape a 23-year-old woman.
00:43   I also came across the case in Nice, which also happened in early December,
00:47   of that illegal who raped a prostitute.
00:50   So I don’t know where you stand, madam, when it comes to defending the safety of these women.
00:54   You, the great feminist, who obviously prefer today to expose French women
00:59   and French men to the risks that this uncontrolled immigration entails,
01:03   rather than regulating this immigration at the source.
01:06   I think it’s criminal, and I don’t understand why you won’t look straight at the consequences
01:11   of this current immigration, for the security of the French.
01:14   All data confirm it. I imagine that we will have the opportunity to come back to this.
01:18   I’m not even talking about the terrorist risk, of course, which is taking…
01:21   Which we will come back to, there. —And so the representative pool finds itself in a recent,
01:24   non-assimilated immigration, or even among foreign people.
01:29   And so yes, we have a disagreement in principle, because I consider that
01:34   because of safety, identity, cultural, social reasons, today France is no longer
01:38   capable of welcoming new people, and can no longer face the challenges of integration.

  1. How on earth could anyone find any fault with what this lovely French lady says. And as for the opposing smirking person I am lost for words.
