Video transcript:

00:00   I am ashamed. I am ashamed of a European Union that pretends to support
00:05   the Iranian women’s protest and to remember great Mahsa Amini’s courage.
00:11   I am ashamed because it is you who promote the Islamic veil for your events.
00:17   Now we have been seeing the hijab represented in a positive light in the
00:21   communications and social networks of European institutions for years.
00:25   We have seen it during the Conference on the Future of Europe, the events on youth,
00:29   in the publications on the environment, on Human Rights Day, in Gender Equality, and
00:33   even on Anti-Homophobia Day.
00:36   I am ashamed of a European Union who is under the thumb of Islam.
00:40   I am ashamed of a European Union that sees the Islamic veil as an instrument of
00:44   integration and diversity, when, on the contrary, it oppresses women.
00:48   I am ashamed of a European Union that turns its back on the many women who want
00:55   to be free, to not wear it, to dress as they prefer, to go out, to love and to marry
01:01   whomever they want. Today, more than ever, it must be reiterated that the Islamic veil is not a
01:07   symbol of freedom, but of submission. No to the Islamic veil. Thank you.
01:13   [APPLAUSE]
