“Twenty Years of Bad Policy”

I reported yesterday on a demonstration in The Hague in which the Dutch PEGIDA leader Edwin Wagensveld tore pages out of a Koran in front of the Turkish embassy. Below is a video with footage from that PEGIDA action.

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Video transcript:

00:00   Pegida leader Edwin Wagensveld tore up a Koran Friday evening in front of the Turkish embassy.
00:05   Opposite the embassy, counter-demonstrators began to throw rocks. Police are present in large numbers.
00:13   The street is blocked off by police. Some 100 counter-demonstrators gathered in the vicinity.
00:23   Once Wagensveld began the action, stones were thrown at him. Some broke through the police cordon.
00:31   There was a grim atmosphere, but the police seemed to have it under control a bit later.
00:44   Some people would say that tearing up the Quran is provocative.
00:49   And that it has nothing to do with demonstrations.
00:52   What do you think about that? —I think that when we agreed that there is a burqa ban
00:55   on public transport and people still go on public transport with a burqa, that is also provocative.
00:59   It’s always just because people are afraid of that image. The media don’t want to broadcast
01:05   that image. That’s the problem. We want to put pressure on governments.
01:08   Because it’s not the Quran that’s the problem. The reaction is the problem.
01:12   And the reaction comes from twenty years of bad policy.
01:15   We have brought in people who demand respect,
01:19   but who don’t have respect for our laws and rules.

  1. PEGIDA leader Erwin Wagensveld is a dangerous idiot. Such actions do nothing to weaken Islam, on the contrary it only fuels Muslims’ religious fervour and their hatred of “infidels”. It gives them an excuse to attack “infidels” including Christians who reside in Muslim countries and who, as it is, live under enormous pressure.

    Can anyone stop this idiocy?

    • The theory is, the sooner the civil war starts which islamic doctrine prescribes has to start anyway some day, the better our chances to prevail. Since they are so easy to trigger, this is one way to make them lose patience before reaching full clone-army strength. The other point is, to make the public see the ugly truth our own traitorous politicians and media keep suppressing, that these people can not and will not coexist in a free society. And how bigoted it is to even pretend we want to protect refugees from exactly that. Theory and reality may often be separate things, but we do know that it will happen anyway, that there will be blood, and that it only gets exponentially more difficult.

      • This is the logic of Bolsheviks – “the worse, the better”. In their desperate fight for power Bolsheviks tried to make life under the existing government as bad as possible to provoke a revolt of the masses. They perfectly understood that it would lead to anarchy and horrible violence in which a few million people would be killed. But for them the end justified the means.

I don’t like people for whom the end justifies the means. I don’t like those who are ready to sacrifice other people’s lives and livelihoods for the sake of some supposedly great idea. I don’t like provocateurs.
