A Reprise of the Killing of Umm Qirfa?

According to a recent article in The Daily Mail, the Islamic State has promised that it will soon debut a new method of executing its prisoners:

Warnings have emerged of an impending Islamic State video that will reveal a ‘new killing style’ featuring jihadis on horseback.

A poster for the forthcoming video shows prisoners wearing orange jumpsuits surrounded by a framework of poles and militants gathered on horses.

It was posted with a warning the bloodthirsty group are planning to reveal a ‘new killing style’ – in addition to the varying types of executions it already carries out across Iraq and Syria.

Techniques used by ISIS to torture or kill prisoners are always modeled on those used by Mohammed and his companions, as described in the Koran or sahih (authentic) hadith. An alert reader at Vlad Tepes spotted the likely scriptural model for the atrocities depicted in the next batch of snuff propaganda to be released by the Islamic State.

Vlad has compiled a report on his research:

Islamic State’s New Killing Method — Not New, But Very Islamic

Earlier today, the Daily Mail published an article that we linked to, showing some ominous foreshadowing of an impending video with a ‘new’ way of murdering those people who interfere with the Caliph’s absolute supremacy.

An astute reader of Vlad, Chris Jones, left a comment that is very likely the exact description and explanation — not to mention scriptural justification and historical precedent — for what the Islamic State is planning to do to a certain class of people that may obstruct its rule.

In Al-Tabiri’s Tafsir (Vol. 8, pg.96), which expounds on the Sira or biography of Mohammed by Ibn Ishaq (pg.980), there is a detailed account of the horrific, sadistic and unconscionable murder of an elder woman by ripping her in half using camels pulling her legs in opposite directions.

Here are a couple of paragraphs from faithfreedom.org referencing this atrocity:

Umm Qirfa Fatima was taken prisoner. She was a very old woman, wife of Malik. Her daughter and Abdulla b. Mas’ada were also taken. Zaid ordered Qays b al-Musahhar to kill Umm Qirfa and he killed her cruelly.

[from Ibn Ishaq’s biography of Mohammed, pg.980]

Here Al-Tabari explains what “and he killed her cruelly” means:

“And he killed her cruelly”. It is of the cruel method holy warriors of Muhammad espoused to kill Umm Qirfa Tabari mentions as: “By putting a rope into her two legs and to two camels* and driving them until they rent her in two.”
* Some Islamic texts refer to horses, not camels.

[The History of al-Tabari, Volume 8: The Victory of Islam, translated by Michael Fishbein, Volume 8, pg.95-97]

So once again the Islamic State is bringing back yet another authentic Islamic tradition from the most reliable Islamic sources — just as it did in recreating Janissaries and throwing down homosexuals from the highest structure in the village and then throwing stones at them to finish them off.

Sometimes people were killed by being trampled on by horses:

“She (Sara, a freed slave who insulted Mohammed in Mecca with her songs) lived until someone in the time of Umar b. al-Khattab (2nd caliph) caused his horse to trample her at Abtah and killed her.”

[The History of al-Tabari, Volume 8: The Victory of Islam, translated by Michael Fishbein, p.179]

Thank you CB Sashenka and Chris Jones for all the work on this.

  1. Entities as savage as this bring up a real dilemma of ethics. As Westerners, we adhere to a set of principles in treating others that may not always be completely functional: avoid torture, go out of your way to avoid injuring women and children, allow supplies to reach civilians, avoid unnecessary deaths, even of the enemy, and so forth.

The question is, is there any ethical principle which will equal the overall objective of not allowing the Islamic State to expand or gain control over more people?

I honestly don’t know if the US supported the overthrow of autocratic, but effective, governments in Iraq, Syria, Libya and (unsuccessfully) Egypt because of democratic principles, or used democracy as an excuse to engage in power diplomacy that had nothing whatsoever to do with the security of the US and its people.

    • To a great extent, our ideas of acceptability have now been attuned to the aims and needs of cultural Marxism, we expose our troops because the missile factories in Hanoi are embedded in civilian centres.

We Israelis expose our troops too, but for a slightly different motivation, I think the problem here is that we have lost the will to win.

The allie’s insistence on German unconditional surrender probably cost an additional 10 million lives, to have reached a compromise solution after the bomb plot would have been less costly. However even this may not be the whole truth as we still don’t know what was negotiated between Dulles and Kammler which also seems to have had a bearing on the final situations.

It is indeed difficult to understand what is really going on. Isis is a far greater “clear and present danger” than ever was Saddam Hussein or Bashir Assad.

There seems little logic behind any of this, but when the white rondavel is more interested in birdies and eagles, then there is something very sick in the state of the union. Just maybe a failed African politician can help us to understand it all.

    • This should clear up your uncertainty.

Libya – ruled by secular dictator; obama supports overthrow.
Egypt – ruled by secular dictator; obama supports overthrow.
Syria – ruled by secular dictator; obama supports overthrow.
iran – ruled by muslim fanatics; obama refuses to support overthrow.

  2. Typo?: “In Al-Tabiri’s Tafsir (Vol. 8, pg.96)”
    Not “al-Tabiri” but “al-Tabari”; see
“Tafsir al-Tabari; written by Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari” in

This camels-as-tractors body-splitting method of execution
was also referred to in the “Innocence of Muslims” video
once touted by Secretary of State Clinton, of Benghazi fame.

  3. Our “leadership” is oblivious to what is happening in the swiftly-surrendering lands of the Mideast. Both our civil and religious leaders are simultaneously burying their heads in the sand whilst FUNDING the problem.

    “Go away”–it won’t.
‘Stay over there’ –It will not.
“Come to us”–It both IS, and WILL in all its forms of evil.

We, the uninvolved civilians, will end up facing the enemy on “the front lines” or whatever they chose to call it.

    “Ready or not”–HERE IT COMES!

    • How the hell does this cruel dark beyond belief cult of Islam recruit anyone without serious brainwashing and death threats to target and family? That anyone with two brain cells would even tolerate being in the same space as a Muslim is almost incompressible. Would I be arrested for handing out Korans?

      • Not to put too fine a point on it, but your answer…………

……….Ever hear of the term “EVIL”??

There is a LOT of it going around–since forever.

  4. Oh, just like Jesus did it!
    Religion of peace, yo…..
Look out, there might be as backlash!
