The New Islamic Tyranny

Our old friend Nick from the Frozen North has posted an article at Patriot’s Corner that follows up on last month’s arrest of Paul Weston for quoting Winston Churchill over a bullhorn from the steps of Winchester Guildhall.

Stage 1 of the new tyranny: Anyone standing up for British values will be targeted.

By Nick McAvelly

World War II was the most destructive conflict the world had ever known, and its course was decided to a large extent by three men: Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Josef Stalin (aka ‘Uncle Joe’) and Sir Winston Churchill.

At the Yalta conference in February 1945, one of a series of conferences between ‘the big three’, President Roosevelt’s health was failing. When Roosevelt retired one evening, exhausted, he complained to an aide that the day’s meetings had taken a long time, because Churchill gave such long speeches. The aide said that nevertheless, they were good speeches. Roosevelt replied, ‘Winston doesn’t make any other kind.’[1]

Apparently the police in Winchester, England disagree with President Roosevelt, and indeed, with the rest of the world, for they have declared the words of Winston Churchill to be verboten. On April 26th, a Saturday, the Winchester police arrested a British citizen for reading from one of Churchill’s books.

Winston Churchill was an exceptionally talented wordsmith. He earned a living as a war correspondent before he entered politics, wrote a multi-volume history of World War II that is essential reading for anyone interested in that period, and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953 ‘for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values.’[2]

The highly acclaimed historians Sir Max Hastings and Laurence Rees often cite Churchill’s history of the war in their own books.[3] If it is reasonable for writers of that calibre to rely on Churchill’s written work, then it is reasonable for British citizens with an interest in world history to do the same.

Note that Section 4a of the Public Order Act 1986 states that it is a recognised defence for anyone who has been accused on the basis of that legislation to show that their conduct was reasonable.[4] It is difficult to see how anyone could argue that reading one of Winston Churchill’s books is an unreasonable act. Perhaps, playing devil’s advocate, it might be said that Winston Churchill was, after all, a mere mortal and could not possibly have been right all the time, so Churchill’s opinion cannot be regarded as the final word on any given subject. As anyone familiar with John Stuart Mill’s On Liberty will attest, this is not an argument that supports having the Winchester police arrest someone for reading one of his books — quite the contrary!

The “bobbies” who arrested a British citizen for reading the words of Winston Churchill must face the fact that this applies to them too — and to their political masters. (Or are they not human after all?) As John Stuart Mill said, we are all fallible, and the only way to set yourself right when you are wrong is to hear opposing views, articulated by people who truly believe what they are saying. So if politicians or police officers in England today think that Islam is a religion of peace, and nothing else, ever, then they need to hear the views of Sir Winston Churchill, whether they want to or not.

Is it possible that Winston Churchill is right, and an entire crop of run-of-the-mill British politicians is completely wrong? Well it’s happened before. And if it has happened once, then it can happen again:

“We must regard as deeply blameworthy before history the conduct not only of the British National and mainly Conservative Government, but of the Labour-Socialist and Liberal parties, both in and out of office, during this fatal period. Delight in smooth-sounding platitudes, refusal to face unpleasant facts, desire for popularity and electoral success irrespective of the vital interests of the State, genuine love of peace and pathetic belief that love can be its sole foundation, obvious lack of intellectual vigour in both leaders of the British Coalition Government, marked ignorance of Europe and aversion from its problems in Mr. Baldwin, the strong and violent pacifism which at this time dominated the Labour-Socialist Party, the utter devotion of the Liberals to sentiment apart from reality, the failure and worse than failure of Mr. Lloyd George, the erstwhile great war-time leader, to address himself to the continuity of his work, the whole supported by overwhelming majorities in both Houses of Parliament: all these constituted a picture of British fatuity and fecklessness which, though devoid of guile, was not devoid of guilt, and, though free from wickedness or evil design, played a definite part in the unleashing upon the world of horrors and miseries which, even so far as they have unfolded, are already beyond comparison in human experience.” (Winston Churchill, The Gathering Storm, Mariner Books, p. 80)

Maybe Paul Weston can read that passage next time?

  1. It was actually Franklin Delano Roosevelt, not Theodore, who was president during WWII.

    • Thanks for noticing that. I’ve corrected our copy. Nick will have to see to it in the original.

  2. I do believe you meant Franklin Roosevelt. It’s OK, President Heller made the same mistake on “24” last week.

    • It’s looking good btw – I remember the first time I watched 24, my cousin was working in Brazil and would get a month off at a time. He’d take home a DVD set (high tech in those days) and watch it while he had a day or two lazing around to recover from the jet lag, then give it to me. Meanwhile, I’d have been watching something else on DVD & swapped that over with him. So we got through a few good TV programmes – The Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica, 24, etc. He also introduced me to the Les Norton novels after he’d been to Australia. When an Islamic culture produces literature half as good as the Les Norton books, then and only then will I begin to take the claim that all cultures are equal seriously. Until that day, multiculturalism is refuted by the work of Robert G. Barrett, RIP.

  3. As I see the state of Britain today, half conquered by barbarians to whom Danegeld is paid in so many forms as a policy of appeasement and illusory pacification, and paid without the least evidence of shame or mortification for having been conquered, Weston would probably be cuffed and charged with slandering or libeling the “good name” of the political elite, were he to read that excerpt from “The Gathering Storm.” And that would happen, I think, only if someone clued the authorities in about what Weston was talking about and whose book he was reading from. But, perhaps not. Just the name of Churchill would impel them to action and to break out their handcuffs. I have not yet read anywhere that the identity of the anonymous woman who fingered Weston to the police has been determined.

    • Her identity will be revealed in the upcoming court case – if it gets to that stage. It will be on her ‘complaint’ that Mr Weston will attend court. Her statement would have been taken by police as the basis for the proof of the offence.

I doubt if there is just one complainant as police actively trolled for complainants, because the more witnesses the police can muster the better the chance the case has of gaining a conviction, but if it is the case that there is only one witness, as apart from the police witnesses themselves, then it will be one person’s word against Mr. Weston’s for the original offence.

BTW, if the police have done their jobs properly there are two offences that should be listed – the original offence as complained of by that woman and the subsequent offence of Mr. Weston continuing to utter his ‘offensive speech’ after being ordered to desist by the police.

  4. In Britain the ruling elite are trying to cut every source of enlightening, guiding, and educating the public about the country’s past great figures, their history, achievements, and sacrifices, and they want to replace every thing with Islam’s history, characters, fake scientific achievement that only exist in the minds of on the take professors.

  5. Unfortunately the case will most likely be dropped before Mr Weston gets his chance to appear in court. If so, he should go back to those very steps and do it again. He should also consider standing with a copy of the Koran in his hand and quoting another British Prime Minister (Gladstone) who said – “As long as this book exists there will never be peace in the world.”

  6. “we are all fallible, and the only way to set yourself right when you are wrong is to hear opposing views, articulated by people who truly believe what they are saying”

And herein lies the problem, the left believes it is right and infallible, so much so that they can (need to) stopper up the opposition, harass them and offer them “no platform”

This is a religion where they believe that the steps of Winchester Guildhall (and everywhere else in the country) is part of their ‘church’ and their pulpit and no ‘blasphemy’ must be allowed.

We are powerless to fight a powerful religion that is not a religion, a religion with no morality, and with no mechanism for criticism and self examination. It is a religion based upon the best of intentions and the worst of actions.

It is a religion out of control

  7. Maybe you saw that Nottingham Police tipped off the non-white applicants for jobs with them before they posted them publicly, then took only the first 75 applications. This obviously favoured those who knew the doors were opening for the short period over which the applications were then actually taken. What was that about being equal under the law. Did you know this goes back to Alfred’s laws? And that these rights were those upon which the Puritan lawyers based the case for Parliament against Charles “divine” right to rule?
“Judge thou very evenly: judge thou not one doom (law) to the rich, another to the poor; nor one to thy friend, another to thy foe, judge thou.”

Not looking good for our PC-devines.

  8. Response to the arrest of Paul Weston

It has been wrongly suggested that Mr Weston was arrested for reciting passages written by Winston Churchill. I understand he was not welcome outside the Winchester Guildhall, the Police were called and he was asked to move on. I also understand that he was not prepared to move on and was arrested for this reason.

Members of the public are of course at liberty to debate issues of importance to them in private or public spaces. However, there must be a level of decorum and decency.

Hampshire Constabulary has an obligation to ensure action is taken if decency or safety is put at risk and, if there is any reason to suspect they have intervened unnecessary, this will be investigated.

As far as I am aware, this is not so in this case. With the local and European elections coming up, it is important to register that there is a great deal of politically motivated spin going on at the moment which it is having a significant impact on local policing – both in terms of vital frontline rescourse and reputation.

The use of the word “decency” is a progressive political pejorative used to denigrate and dehumanise a political opponent.

    • Ah yes the well known – and non-existent – “decorum an decency” clause in Section 4a of the Public Order Act.

What a load of mealy-mouthed rubbish!

  9. Ultimately, it’s the Winchester “police” force where the ‘rubber hits the road’ and where pushback must start. THEY are the actual agents of evil here , no matter who gave them orders. If the “police” no longer serve the interests of the BRITISH population they must be made to suffer consequences. Right now, it looks like they simply fear a little muzzie rioting. They must be made to fear something greater coming form the remnants of the indigenous population.
Might I suggest the time-honored muzzie “Car-bique” ? Perhaps the more traditional broke windows-to start?
The Brits better hurry up. The longer they take, the worse it will ultimately be.

  10. Having allowed into their borders the alien host and giving them the necessaries for firmly establishing themselves therein, the British authorities now fear the colonisers more than they will the survival of democratic values or even their own people.

  11. What drives you mad is when Paul Weston is being arrested for exercising his basic democratic rights in passionately perverted dictatorship of Britain, Cameron and other so-called democratically elected liars are visiting Aung San Suu Kyi, is a Burmese opposition politician, and giving her support. Suu probably knows Britain is on the brink of death, but still she will meet him as a useful idiot. She knows that an Imam in Britain and France can make real changes in the country’s policies. While western people are satisfied with what their pathological liar/politician say. Discernible lies for most. Elections are made by the people. Decisions are made by the elected geared according to every whim of the Muhammadans. Politicians must have a thick face skin indeed to promote democracy in other places while native citizens are persecuted and insulted.

  12. “In matters of principle, stand like a rock.” Thomas Jefferson.

  13. The Eu has become an Orwellian nightmare, the USA is in a pre Orwellian mode and slipping fast.

    • By October 2015, all new cars and vans sold within the E.U. must be fitted with trackers.

      • So will there be a niche market for enterprising mechanics who can retrofit cars so that the trackers are disabled whilst appearing to be functioning?

        Stay tuned.

  14. This whole issue begs the question of why the powers-that-be would risk their credibility to such a great extent in their inversion of accepted social/societal jurisprudence? What does the member of the household of the submitted offer to the ruling class that the citizen does not? What arrangements have been made between the ruling class and the imams (the ruling class of the domain of the submitted)? the whole charade is all too convenient and is eerily reminiscent of what George Orwell rather presciently chronicled in 1984. We were considering a visit to England, but in the wake of recent events, we felt a visit to Jedda or Mecca would be safer, so we settled on Tel Aviv. At least there they still speak English. God only knows what they speak in some of London’s districts.

    • I asked the same question once of an influential organisation. I was referred to Bat Ye’ors “Eurabia” for the answer.

  15. How apposite to the current predicament is the quote from “The Gathering Storm”? Only the “without guile” part isn’t applicable. Britain’s Labor Party, as do parties of the Left throughout the West, well understands that with mass Muslim immigration they are importing a constituency that will overwhelmingly vote for them. So there’s plenty of guile afoot.

  16. HAS EUROPE GOT A NEW CHURCHILL?

    Vladimir Putin’s speech
    SHORTEST SPEECH EVER
On August 04, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:
“In Russia, live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, it should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim’s then we advise them to go to those places where that’s the state law.
Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell ‘discrimination’. We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture. We had better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims.
When this honourable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims Minorities Are Not Russians.”
The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a five-minute standing ovation.

    • With all due respect, this Putin speech is a hoax. It never occurred. It has been repeatedly debunked, by Snopes and others.
