On Thursday evening, police in Krefeld shot down an Iranian man after he set off incendiary devices at three locations in the city. The officers opened fire when the migrant tried to storm a cinema. According to police, a terrorist motive has currently been ruled out.

When the suspect entered the lobby of the movie theater, two officers shot him — in front of the moviegoers present. An ambulance took him to the hospital; no other people were injured. When he entered the theater, he had a gun and a Molotov cocktail with him and tried to set fire to the room, as WDR [Westdeutscher Rundfunk, regional public broadcaster] reported.

The roof of an apartment building is said to have caught fire near the crime scene, and the police suspect the Iranian was behind it. An eyewitness told the Bild newspaper that the situation was “frightening.” He saw the man smash windows and set a car on fire.
