Florence: “There Are Too Many Italians”

The following video shows an expedition deep into the heart of a no-go zone in Florence, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Once upon a time it was the jewel of Italy, second only to Venice, but now some of its neighborhoods are overrun with African addicts and criminals.

Many thanks to HeHa for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Video transcript:

00:11   Hey!
00:16   Watch out! Run! Go away!
00:20   This is all your fault! What do I have to do with this?
00:23   It’s all your fault! Go! It’s a jungle here.
00:26   The images you have just seen have been recorded in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy,
00:30   Florence, the cradle of Renaissance, one of the tourist destinations par excellence.
00:35   It has become a story case: almost daily attacks, robberies, stabbings.
00:47   A totally out of control situation, so much so that some have asked for the police chief’s removal.
00:52   Going for a walk here, even in broad daylight, has become dangerous.
00:56   This is Parco delle Cascine, now turned into a realm of drug dealers and violent people.
01:00   Yesterday a woman was running away, and a man was chasing her. He took her phone from her.
01:06   You mean, even the people who walk through the park? —Yes, or they also take your wallet.
01:10   They all have a knife. —You mean, when they fight against each other? —Yes.
01:14   They even have guns? Yes. Lower your voice.
01:17   No one dares go through this park any more, and scenes like this have become normal.
01:22   These two men smoke crack quietly, in front of everyone.
01:25   Do you live in the park? —Yes, I live here.
01:29   For how long? —For two, almost three years.
01:33   Two to three years? Is that crack? What is it?
01:37   It’s crack. —Do you all smoke crack?
01:41   I do. —You do. What about him? —He is on crack, heroine, everything.
01:47   We are stopped by a drug dealer. —Who are you? Are you the police?
01:54   No, we are not the police. —What do you want? Do you want to buy anything?
01:59   Pot, hashish, or anything else?
02:04   Come on, go, go, go!
02:09   I mean, nothing will happen to us. —Go, go, go!
02:13   Enough with Italy! —We move a few meters away and the scene repeats itself.
02:17   It’s a jungle. They attack you here. Personally, I have been here since…
02:22   Just smoke! Don’t piss me off! Just smoke! I wanna smoke.
02:26   At the first time, you are beaten, at the second time, you beat them up.
02:29   And when you beat them up, they understand it’s not worth it.
02:32   Can you see this bruise? —Yes, I was punched. —Was it when you beat each other up?
02:35   Yes, this is when I beat them up. —Bravo. —Back then I hurt them really badly.
02:40   For the last two years I have learned how to make them respect me here.
02:45   These scenes have become the norm. Yet we are in broad daylight, in a public park.
02:50   A park where people like us are not welcome.
02:53   Nobody wants to talk to you guys. —Right, but you know, this is park, isn’t it?
02:58   All right, it’s a park. Go somewhere else. Just go, we don’t wanna talk.
03:03   Go through that street, come on. There are too many Italians. Go home, come on.
03:08   And it only takes a moment for the situation to degenerate.
03:11   [unintelligible]
03:15   Hey!
03:21   [unintelligible]
03:28   Watch out! Run! Go away!
03:31   This is all your fault! —What do I have to do with this?
03:35   It’s all your fault! Go away! —Look at this guy.
03:39   He took a bottle and broke it. Now he uses it as a weapon.
03:43   This is all your fault! —What do I have to do with this?
03:46   It’s your fault! Go!
03:50   Here, before our eyes, the guy points the broken glass bottle
03:54   at the neck of another. It’s in broad daylight, in a park in Florence. —Be careful!
04:05   We move to another area. Here we are not welcome either.
04:12   [unintelligible]
04:21   Why do they have to bust our balls?
04:24   The citizens have been demonstrating for weeks, to ask for more security.
04:29   This is our cry for help, because it’s not possible to go on like this.
04:32   I have a disabled daughter. They even stole her wheelchair from me.
04:37   Thefts, drug dealing, altercations have become the norm,
04:40   in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy.
04:48   No! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!
04:58   And those who own shops try to defend themselves.
05:01   We call each other with a whistle, and everyone comes.
05:06   So you use a whistle? —Yes, I whistle in the hope [to summon help],
05:11   and it usually happens, fortunately,
05:14   that my neighbors rush to me, since they know I’m alone.
05:17   So whenever there’s a thug, I whistle. —When the night comes,
05:21   this is the situation at the railway station.
05:27   I was in prison for twenty years. —You were in prison for twenty years?
05:32   Twenty years of prison in Florence. I used to deal, now I can’t deal any more.
05:35   Because the police know who I am.
05:38   Twenty years can’t be for drug dealing only.
05:41   No, for attempted murder too. How long have you been free? —What?
05:44   How long have you been free? I’ve been free for a little while,
05:48   almost six months. —As soon as we get closer, we are surrounded.
05:54   Hey, what do you need? —Excuse me? —What do you need?
06:00   Nothing, why?
06:03   Everybody knows you’ve got a camera. —What do you have down there?
06:07   Everybody knows you’ve got a camera. Everybody knows.
06:11   Go away! Go away. Leave us alone.
06:15   People can walk on the street, can’t they?
06:22   Yes, but you have to go away!
06:29   Go away!
06:33   We feel abandoned. Nobody does anything.
06:42   Hey.
06:47   Watch out! Run, go away!
06:51   This is all your fault! —But what do I have to do with this?
06:55   It’s all your fault! Go!

  1. Being bred out of your own country is no fun, just ask White Californians. As it progresses in America, a very dark and useless meme will refer to the unfortunates in the Byzantine Empire, encroached upon by moslems, bit by bit, until you get Turkey. A turkey in America being a bird eaten at Thanksgiving, and a jive person who is illegitimate as far as credibility, which is where we are headed. When it comes down to everyday law and order, I don’t think we’ll be resorting to whistles, and town meetings. The only thing preventing buckets of blood right now is……..insert your own idea here.

  2. Now I understand what the films ‘Planet of the Apes’ (1968, based on the 1963 novel by Pierre Boule) and ‘The Time Machine’ (1960, based on the 1895 novel by H.G.Wells) were trying to warn us for. Tolking did the job already earlier with the ‘Lord of the Rings’. Shocking to see the cradle of the Renaissance being invaded by apes (but knowing that by using that equation I insult the real apes). This is happening in the entire White World nowadays. Time for the masses to wake up before it’s too late.
