The EU Pays Protection Money to Tunisia

EU buys help against asylum mafia — for €900 million in tax money

Illegal migration to Italy is increasing massively. Now Tunisia should help out. Even before the vessels set off for Europe, they are supposed to be stopped by Tunis. The EU Commission is making a proud €900 million available for this.

Italy is currently experiencing an explosive increase in illegal migration. More than 75,000 migrants have arrived on Italy’s shores since the beginning of the year. That is more than twice as many as in the same period last year, when there were around 31,900. One of the most important transit countries is Tunisia. A new deal between Brussels and Tunis is now intended to slow down the influx.

The deal: the EU is helping the economically ailing country with massive financial aid; in return Tunisia is doing more against the trafficking mafia.

€100 million for rescue operations and repatriations

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the heads of government of the Netherlands and Italy and Tunisia’s President Kais Saied announced the signing of the relevant declaration of intent in Tunis. The EU Commission will make a proud €900 million available for the North African country.

Tunisia, on the other hand, is supposed to reduce departures to Europe and therefore do more than before to combat people-smugglers and illegal crossings. The EU Commission wants to make a good €100 million available for search and rescue operations and the repatriation of migrants. This corresponds to three times the amount with which Brussels recently supported the country on average each year. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in particular had pushed for an agreement. Rome wants the boats leaving Tunisia to be stopped earlier on their way to southern Italy.

Von der Leyen: “Have a good package” [And how much is her commission from that “package”?]

A good month ago, EU politicians were already in Tunisia for talks to initiate the deal. “We have a good package. Now it’s time to implement it,” von der Leyen said. Tunisia’s President Saied declared: “We are determined to implement them as quickly as possible.” When it came to migration, he spoke of an “inhuman situation” that had to be solved collectively.

Afterword from the translator:

This is again so typical for these brain- and common sense-less bureaucrats from the EUSSR. At first they create the environment for these welfare parasites to flock into Europe and flourish on the European taxpayers’ back for years and years, and then when they finally notice that their own heads could have an appointment in Dr. Guillotine’s waiting room, they desperately try to “change” their tune. Not that I believe that they are in any way sincere in this — every time their mouths are opened a rotting LIE comes flooding out and lulls the gullible back into their “Sleeping Beauty” sleep.

The easiest and simplest solution would have been, years ago, to disqualify those “migrants” from social welfare payments and make it known that only those who have actual work lined up and will pay into the fund, for at least ten years, will be allowed to come and stay. And if they for some reason or other don’t make the ten years, they’re on their way home. Everybody else, don’t bother to come.

When I think that two sons of a friend of mine went to Germany a few years back, they had their work lined up, but had to jump through so many hoops and cut through so much red tape, it wasn’t funny. I had to help them at that time to fill out all these forms bureaucrats are so fond of, a real nightmare. Those boys had to bring also a lot of money with them, so they could pay for accommodation, food, etc.etc… before they received their first paycheck. Needless to say, they are WHITE South Africans. My daughter had some of the same problems for the first month, since the South African rand doesn’t get you very far, when she went to the Netherlands as an au-pair, but at least she didn’t need to find and pay for accommodation.

And to roll this up, I do wonder how this is going to go down, especially when this comes out of Tunisia.

This is – quite obviously – straight-up unadulterated ‘security theater’ and nothing more.

EU Head Ursula von der Leyen is under public pressure to ‘do something’ about the flood of migrants flooding into Germany and into Europe as a whole. She is not against immigration; in fact one of the reasons she was placed in her current position is because she is pro-globalism and says/thinks all of the ‘right things’ about the great population replacement now underway.

But the mandarins at the EU don’t want their real agenda – the extinction of Old Europe and her native peoples – to be too obvious, so here and there bits of security theater are called for.

How do we know it is ‘security theater’ and not a policy genuinely designed to protect European borders? Let’s work backwards…

Prior to the existence of the European Common Market and later the actual European Union, individual nations were responsible for policing and controlling their own borders. However, given that the formation of the EU saw those nations surrender some of their sovereignty to the Union, the policing and control of borders is no longer so clear-cut of a task.

In the name of commonality and efficiency, one of the promised benefits of the EU was that once an individual was legally inside the union, no passport would be required to move around inside the member nations. At this juncture, it would be germane to ask if a passport is needed any longer to gain admittance to the EU, but I digress…

The EU legislature and bureaucracy – since it now holds statutory authority to regulate the borders of the entire union – is responsible for securing its borders, and those of member nations as well. That’s the theory, anyway.

What has actually happened is that the member nations have ceded much of their authority to control their own borders, but the EU has not taken up these responsibilities in a manner befitting their official duties, responsibilities or resources. However, if those member nations move to re-establish secure borders, the EU suddenly wakes up and accuses the country in question of abusing its membership privileges.

In other words, the EU won’t do the job it is supposed to do, but neither will it let the nations do the job themselves. Where would you say that leaves things?

The biggest clue that this Tunisian initiative is security theater is that the EU, with all of its resources, statutory power, and legal clout – is acting like it has to go hat-in-hand to the Tunisian government, when the EU itself already has all of the tools it needs to handle the problem. It just won’t use them… which brings us back to this being all for show and not for actually solving the problem.

None of this ridiculous maneuvering, double-dealing and posturing will change until the member nations of the union start facing the fact that the European Union does not have their best interests at heart.

If Italians want to save Italy, they’d better start working on the government to pull out of the EU entirely. That and deploy the Italian navy and coast guard to patrol and police the waters around their nation. I don’t know if the EU has a navy – I suspect not – but if it does exist, it is nowhere to be found.

And if there are any honest reporters left in Italy, actual investigative journalists, some of them ought to start turning over rocks and asking some pointed questions about those ‘wretched refugees’ and how it is that they can afford an ocean-going vessel to cross the Med to Italy. Or how they have Master Card credit and debit cards ready to go and already in their wallets when they arrive. Who’s paying for all of this? If the refugees are poor and desperate, not them, right? Then whom?

  2. The Barbary Pirates have come up with a new game, same as the old game. Make the infidel Westerners pay protection money. The EU should probably throw in some treasure chests full of gold coins, and, just to be sure, send the Tunisians some exotic animals from sub-Saharan Africa, spices from the Middle East, and fine silks from the Orient.

    • Good historical reference on your part. What the Tunisians are doing is a racket, extortion by any other name. Just like the Sultan of the Barbary Coast more than two-centuries ago. The more things change, the more they remain the same, yes? Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose…

  3. The UK has been paying Danegeld to France to “stop the boats”.
Look how well that has worked out.

  4. All of western Europe is in a Dhimmi status(brought that way by the EU leadership and the elite),they are the Kafir ,they have to pay according to Sharia law. The Moslems will still invade Italy by sea, promises to the unbelievers in Europe mean nothing to Islamic law or cultural. A army of Moslem mostly males between the ages of 15 to 50 invading ,an Open Society wet dream to cancel, wipe out European cultural and European society . Election will not fix the problem unelected actors are calling the shots ,holding the purse strings ,holding and making laws to have the modern Europeans live in a Dhimmi status to both them and the Moslems. After Europe is destroyed the elites will just get in their private jets and move to private estates in South America or parts of Asia .Leaving a Europe behind fully of fighting and tribe warfare with no stable governments ,law or peace. Much like a Africa is today .

  5. Import people who live in tribes and clans that hold to their customs ,violent “laws” no matter what country they swat in be it in , Africa ,Asia, North or South America or Europe . Throwing money and giving power to them only encourages their behavior by rewarding violence, blackmail ,enslaving the average European taxpayer to foot the bill and live in fear for his and his family life lost of cultural and common safety of western laws . This must being done by design ,what the end game of it ,maybe population reduction ,then the elite can come out of their hidden dens in far away place when almost everyone is dead . How long before the next plan lab flu puts the breaks on talks about the Islamic refugee problem in open posts on websets like this ?When an electronic world currency, and massive censorship goes full force to protect “the common good of all men”.
