Nancy Faeser, Champion of Free Speech

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is at it again.

“More joy in discourse” — Nancy Faeser calls for a new culture of debate

Nancy Faeser is disappointed that Germany has slipped from 16th to 21st place in the “Reporters Without Borders” press freedom ranking. Germany needs well-informed citizens — and a new culture of debate.

Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) has called for a new culture of debate in Germany. “We need more joy in discourse, in togetherness,” said the SPD politician on Wednesday evening at the opening of the “Freedom of Speech Week” in Frankfurt’s Paulskirche. However, arguing always involves tolerance, allowing other opinions to be relevant, explained Faeser in a panel discussion with Frankfurt Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg (Greens), the philosopher and publicist Michel Friedman and the pianist and activist Igor Levit.

Faeser expressed disappointment that Germany slipped from 16th place in the previous year to 21st place in the “Reporters Without Borders” press freedom ranking. It shouldn’t be the case that journalists are physically attacked at “Querdenker” demonstrations. This requires the resistance and civil courage of each and every individual. Prevention and legislation alone are not enough.

She sees with great concern that people are reading fewer and fewer newspapers and are getting less information from radio and television. “What do we do with all those who are trapped in Internet forums?” asked Faeser. Democracy needs well-informed citizens. That is why it is important to strengthen political education work in schools and outside of schools.

“There is plenty of room for anti-Semitism and racism in Germany”

Friedman called on politicians and the judiciary to pay more attention to the limits of freedom of expression. The guiding principles are respect and human dignity. It is not enough to show solidarity with the offended and those who have been attacked in anti-Semitic or racist incidents. “Rather, we must feel attacked as a whole as democrats and react accordingly,” said Friedmann. Levit also called for clear language in dealing with discrimination and assaults. The postulate that there is no place for anti-Semitism and racism in Germany is simply not correct. “In Germany there is a lot of room for anti-Semitism and racism,” said the Jewish musician and university teacher. [And importing wholesale the problem from Islamic Countries is not? Academentia rears its ugly and poisonous head again. And for that utterance I’ll most likely be labeled an anti-Semite. So I’ll need to tell my pure-blood Jewish friends that they’d better beware.]

An alliance of around 60 publishers, bookstores, libraries, trade unions, media, churches, clubs and associations is taking part in the “Freedom of Speech Week” (May 3-10). The organizer is the stock exchange association of the German book trade. According to him, more than 60 events are planned. The aim is to draw attention to the importance for society of the free word.

Afterword from the translator:

And when the mainstream propaganda-machine doesn’t get the government-approved message through to the people…

A few small examples and processes that you can observe again and again over the last three years (what a coincidence)… If the comments are negative, the comment area will be closed at some point without prior notice and certainly without a reason.

If the ratings for posts are not as desired, this function will also be closed. If nothing helps at all, such functions are only available via an app that has to be installed separately in order to select “agrees” and thus generate the necessary approval in a targeted manner.

What are deviants and ideological retards à la Faeser complaining about? They complain about the LACK of consent; they want to force it — that’s ridiculous and absolutely pathetic. What does Faeser want — to wipe out every unwanted option of competition, so that only their disgustingly ideological manure remains and “forms opinions”, i.e. the principle of “forced love”, “forced recognition”, “forced popularity”… we all know how this ends. “Sieg Heil. Sieg Heil. Sieg Heil” comes to my mind.

  1. When I read the headline I was shocked.
Could it be that GoV was taken over by Antifa or the FBI Anti-Dis-information taskforce?

    IRONY ON
If Faeser is really into free speech, why doesnt she scold the press for not letting Nazis talk about how wonderful their ideology is?
    IRONY OFF

Sorry, but I believe with 100% certainty that it is her believe that only the leftwing fanatics deserve free speech. Everybody else is a Nazi and has no right to voice his opinion.
