Is the murdered taxi driver in Berlin-Grunewald not the only victim of the man? He allegedly also committed a crime in Belgium
Berlin/Cologne. The suspect in the case of the murdered taxi driver in Berlin was reportedly on the run from another homicide in Belgium. An extradition proceeding with the Cologne Public Prosecutor is ongoing against the 24-year-old, an official spokesperson said in response to a German Press Agency (dpa) inquiry. It concerns an accusation of homicide. The spokesperson declined to give further information, deferring to the responsible justice authorities in Brussels.
According to dpa information, the 24-year-old reportedly killed his female partner on April 4 in Belgium. On April 6, the last Thursday before Easter, he then allegedly murdered the 49-year-old taxi driver in Berlin-Grunewald.
Suspect in investigative custody since Saturday
According to the Berlin Public Prosecutor, the suspect has been in investigative custody since last Saturday in Schleswig-Holstein. On Tuesday, justice authorities in Flensburg said that the 24-year-old was arrested on the order of the Flensburg district court. According to a spokesperson, the Public Prosecutor in Berlin will now apply for another arrest warrant against the Tunisian-born man so that he will be transferred to Berlin.
“Now our proceedings will take a back seat,” explained the Cologne Public Prosecutor’s spokesperson. The accusations of the Berlin Public Prosecutor must first be clarified before the extradition request from Belgium can be further examined.
