If they offer their services, like most full-time employees, 20 days a month, this results in an income of €24,000 before taxes — a good six times the average salary in this country.

In Saxony and Thuringia, resident doctors in vaccination centers were paid a much higher €175 in the spring. The additional monthly salary then amounts to €28,000. The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians justified this by stating that the lost consultation hours of a doctor had to be compensated for with the fee.

With this in mind, it is hardly surprising that, according to Der Spiegel, doctors in Berlin snatched away colleagues’ shifts with software tricks and agreements in the summer — even though the hourly rate there was significantly lower.
