The Islamic State is recruiting in northern Israel among the Israeli Arab population. The following clip from YNet TV features an interview with an Israeli supporter of ISIS.

A few weeks ago the Israeli security services uncovered six members of an ISIS terror cell in northern Israel. The cell’s main organizer, Adnan Jameel Ala Adin, a 39-year-old from Nazareth, has been a successful Israeli Arab lawyer. He recruited other young Arabs to join and fight along with ISIS in Syria. At his farm they trained in assembling Molotov cocktails, and they bought sheep to train in beheading, all with the objective of escaping to Syria.
On his Facebook page Ala Adin posted the infamous Hadith calling on Muslims to find the Jews behind the rock and to kill him:
Bukhari (52:177) — Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”
He added the following: “Does anyone still have the temerity to doubt the virtue of this Hadith?
To the rest of his cell members, Ala Adin described himself as the future ISIS military chief of staff in Palestine.

However, maybe people who “believe” in the side that is winning (that would be Islam) may have a point. It’s a simple survival calculation. Always better to be on the winning side.

As a non-believer, I’m naturally inclined to approve the conclusions of the articles you cite, and dismiss believers such as the Baron and Dymphna as mere outliers(!) And yet… I suspect that the other variables involved (culture, education, incest) have not been taken into account.

I have no belief but that statement does not necessarily follow, would you therefore equate the Renaisaince for example, as correlating with stupidity ?
Western culture and enlightenment owes much to critical Christian thinking.It’s one of the foundations of Western culture and I for one will defend it.

I occasionally wonder who the Entartete Künstler, Helmut Herzfeld springs to mind, would be satirising now, a man not afraid to slag off the seemingly ‘winning-side’ of the day- when perhaps someone who thought they’d join the band-wagon, would be slipping on a brown shirt.
Far better to be on the right side, I would have thought, than the ‘winning side’.
