Jerry Can Do It

The latest news from Ottawa is exciting and inspiring. It reminds me of what was happening in Gdańsk ca. 1980, when the peaceful resistance against Polish communism and the Soviet occupation began to have a significant effect.

As you all know by now, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has declared a state of emergency in response to the Freedom Convoy’s blockade of downtown Ottawa around Parliament Hill. Under his emergency decree, anyone who provides “material support” to the truckers may be subject to arrest, and all their material support will be confiscated. In the past 24 hours the Ottawa police have been confiscating diesel fuel, propane, food supplies, and anything else that might aid the truckers.

But here’s the rub: the truckers’ fuel is typically provided in jerry cans, so police have been stopping anyone with a jerry can and taking it away from them. Ingenious citizens have been subverting their efforts by carrying empty jerry cans, or ones containing completely irrelevant fluids. One tweet I saw said that subversives have been filling their jerry cans with windshield washer fluid for the police to confiscate. This grassroots resistance operation is tying up police resources and causing havoc. And the fuel gets through to the truckers in any case — there aren’t enough police to interdict every jerry can.

So if you are in Ottawa, and support the resistance, I advise obtaining a jerry can and filling it with any liquid that comes to hand. Be creative! Someone has to empty the portasans, right?

Update on @OttawaPolice + their illegal seizures of Fuel Jerry Cans —

This is direct from my fellow truckers on Wellington Street

The Truckers are completely co-operating with the police in these illegal seizures.

Here is why —

This is completely illegal and makes the police and the City of Ottawa look weak and stupid.

Let them take the fuel, this will all eventually be thrown out of court and ultimately be counterproductive to our antagonists.

2/

My contacts tell me that the people who do supply them with fuel are just going to keep bringing it. By the thousands. Everyone is walking around downtown Ottawa with Jerry Cans. My one contact topped off his tanks and his generator last night with no issue.

3/

Some #FreedomConvoyCanada2022 supporters are walking around Ottawa with empty Jerry Cans to tie the cops up by having them engage with people carrying nothing.

This is some deep subversive warfare which the state can do nothing about.

There is no legal way for City of Ottawa to stop anyone walking anywhere downtown.

They literally cannot stop the flow of donations + fuel, no matter how many they stop.

Keep those Jerry Cans coming, if they take yours, let them have it, co-operate, be nice to the cops.

5/

Keep up the positivity and The Good Vibes, talk to a trucker online or in town if you are there, find a Jerry Can and take it with you — you are both slowing down the cops peacefully, and carry a powerful symbol of resistance and non-compliance.

I think this is great.

In fact, I think people all over the world should start carrying around empty jerry cans in sympathy with Canadian truckers — and their own convoys where they are happening — and to tie up police resources.

  1. Here’s an idea on how to provide supplies to the Freedom Convoy:

Have aircraft–it can be small, light planes, it can be drones, it can even be balloons–fly over the Freedom Convoy and drop supplies.

Something like my idea has been actualized before.

Wikipedia says: The Berlin Blockade (24 June 1948 – 12 May 1949) was one of the first major international crises of the Cold War. During the multinational occupation of post–World War II Germany, the Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies’ railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under Western control. The Soviets offered to drop the blockade if the Western Allies withdrew the newly introduced Deutsche Mark from West Berlin.

The Western Allies organised the Berlin Airlift (also known as Berliner Luftbrücke, literally “Berlin Air Bridge” in German) from 26 June 1948 to 30 September 1949 to carry supplies to the people of West Berlin, a difficult feat given the size of the city’s population.[1][2] American and British air forces flew over Berlin more than 250,000 times, dropping necessities such as fuel and food, with the original plan being to lift 3,475 tons of supplies daily. By the spring of 1949, that number was often met twofold, with the peak daily delivery totalling 12,941 tons.[3]

    • I have a drone! It can carry a chocolate bar! The only problem is the range I get on that thing, I can hardly reach next village, let alone Canada 🙁

  2. I must say, the truckers are shockingly patient.

Blockades at Sarnia and Windsor. It’s spreading.

They might manage to dislodge the truckers from Ottawa – temporarily, anyway, but with other blockades going strong… it just changes the focus.

The Coutts blockade which initially looked hopeless, at last news was doing very well.

Leftists are having an absolute meltdown.

In a hilarious twist, the Muslim community in my town is heavily supporting the truckers!

  3. I wish I had saved the video clip, but there were interviews of the #JerryCanBrigade this morning in Ottawa. A really sweet couple went out and bought Jerry cans, and wrote on them, “Filled With Love”, and stated, “but tomorrow they’ll be filled with gas to support our truckers”. They were part of the brigade that were engaging with the police to tie up resources. Other people have been theatrically drinking out of theirs (filled with water, “Kool-Aid”, etc).

David Freiheit, an attorney in Montreal, has been doing the yeoman’s work of producing some excellent live streams of Ottawa and Toronto, along with “men on the street” interviews. He can be found at YT as “VivaFrei” and on Twitter as “thevivafrei”

  4. Jerrycans filled with windshieldwasher fluid? I guess that would amount to molotow-coctails in Trudeau’s twisted mind…

  5. What happens if/when the government shuts off cell phone service to the area as they are implementing their confiscations, arrests and intimidations? That is what I fear could happen.

VivaFrei is excellent! He also appears on Rekieta Law on YT

    • Don’t truckers still use CB radios?

Seems like cutting off cell service would just be a move that would harm LE more than the truckers. Also, I don’t know how they would be able to do such a thing without it being indiscriminate. The woke Ottawa soy jacks likely would be the most inconvenienced by a cutting off of cell services.

  6. All your Jerry cans are belong to us.
When Jerry cans are outlawed, only outlaws will have Jerry cans.

  7. No news on the blockade in International Falls/Fort Francis or Thunder Bay in MN, A local reporter for the local newspaper went up there and took some excellent pictures and video, the CNN traintracks have semi’s on them blocking rail traffic. Lot’s of local’s from both sides of the border having a great time.
