Doubletalk From a Double-Dealer

The following clip shows excerpts from a press conference given by German Chancellor Angela Merkel where the most urgent topic was the recent series of deadly attacks by “Syrian” “refugees”.

Watch how deftly she avoids answering difficult questions in any meaningful way. Her glib evasiveness puts her in the same league as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, who are equally adept at uttering sonorous phrases that are totally lacking in specific content.

Many thanks to Egri Nök for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

Transcript:

00:00   Madam Chancellor, I have studied your nine-point catalogue closely,
00:04   and have noticed: When you said eleven months ago, “We can do it”,
00:09   all these nine points had already been called for
00:13   by many politicians in Germany, not only by the CSU [Bavarian Christian Democrats].
00:17   Is it adequate, considering your leadership responsibilities, that it took eleven months for to take
00:21   demands that had already been boldly put on the table and wrap them in a parcel of announcements?
00:28   And why did you not react, not even with a single word,
00:33   to the reports and stories about a deeply unsettled republic,
00:38   that you have been presiding over for ages now?
00:42   And what has to happen to make you perhaps
00:47   no longer stand in the way of a renewal of politics in Germany and in Europe?
00:54   Well. Mr. Monkar, I do not intend
00:58   to discuss the nine points with you. We boosted personnel,
01:01   maybe we will have to further boost it, that is plainly obvious. Bavaria does it; we do it too.
01:06   We have to constantly improve the technical equipment.
01:09   We must address questions of encryption on what is called the ‘dark net’ these days.
01:17   It is a process. And we will begin our analysis of what has happened now,
01:21   exactly there where more needs to be done.
01:24   And in the past eleven months, I have pointed this out, a lot has already happened.
01:30   And I believe those who listened carefully noted well
01:35   that people are unsettled, that we have an obligation to them.
01:40   And that the state is obliged to do what is within its means
01:45   to ensure the safety in a liberal-democratic constitutional state, just as I said.

  1. It has to be said that the question wasn’t all that clear. He needed to pin her down on one point, rather than wander all over the map.

    • How do you pin down a slittery slug ? (apologies to real slugs, as this metaphor could be rather offensive to that animal).

    • “It took you 11 months to take 9 simple proposals and announce them. These proposals existed in a finished form 11 months ago. Does that excessive delay not mean that the safety and well-being of the German people is very low on the priorities of your government?”

      • She would have dressed up the lie “no it does not” with at least 5 or 6 confusing weasel sentences and not taken given the questioner a second chance.

        • I agree with you she would have given a muddy response. But, here’s the original question:

Is it adequate, considering your leadership responsibilities, that it took eleven months for to take demands that had already been boldly put on the table and wrap them in a parcel of announcements?

And why did you not react, not even with a single word, to the reports and stories about a deeply unsettled republic, that you have been presiding over for ages now?

And what has to happen to make you perhaps no longer stand in the way of a renewal of politics in Germany and in Europe?

Even a decent person would have a hard time finding a coherent question in that phrase to answer. And I purposely formatted the question itself so as to make it as coherent as possible.

          • I am not in any way defending this communist witch, but direct translations from German to English often lose the nuance of the original German.

My German skills have diminished over the years due to lack of use, but I got a somewhat different sense of the original German question in the video. It is more direct in German that the translated version signals.

I doubt it matters significantly as she never gives a direct answer to anything, anyway.

It would be interesting to make a future based movie, “The European Union War Crimes Trials” and sitting in the dock (First Wave):

            Merkel
            Tony Blair
            David Cameron
            Valls
            Hollande
            Charles Michel
            Juncker
            Timmermans
            Mogherini
            Georgieva
            Bratusek
            Canete
            Jourova
            Dombrovskis

            Dinesh D’Souza, where are you?

      • She is pro Islamic like other EU leaders pushing full speed for a EU take down and shiria law. I’m assuming the EU leaders will say a few words to declare their conversion to Islam.

  2. People say: “Merkel muß weg”. That moment has passed. I demand Merkel to be brought before a Nürnberg style war tribunal. Even collobarators and cowards like Hollande now say that “we are at war” !

  3. Am I the only one starting to get allergic to this woman? I can barely tolerate seeing or listening to her.

    • Exactly – decent journalists should simply state ” you obviously do not wish to answer questions honestly” and walk out. Let her spew her bile to an empty studio/room.

Evasive politicians have got to used to the “tame” media fawning at the feet and should be reminded by a truly free press that they have been elected to represent people not to rule them.

Obama, Hilary Clinton, Hollande, Juncker are are prime examples of this too.

What a joy it is to see some one like Farage rip into Merkel and her bag carrier Hollande in the EU Parliament.

I call it be Emperor’s new clothes syndrome. It took a little child to point out, in all innocence, that he was naked before the people awoke from their trance like state.

Merkel is an evil demigod, totally devoid of true feelings, naked of any policies other than self promotion, rapidly propelling a nation to utter destruction whilst supping at the table of a Turkish Tyro.

Where is the German child to point a finger at this sociopathic woman and belatedly awaken the German people before it is to late?

  4. […] Merkel is not alone. Like that arrogant, people-pleasing Obama peering into those Erdogan lying eyes says it all. The world is in the biggest mess since WW2 and these two dangerous and-or incompetents, plus the two liars’ team in the pipeline are telling Trump he is not fit to be president.

    • Obama may very well be right: Trump is not fit to be president. But then, who has been up to the job for a very long time? Who has been worthy of the job of POTUS since Eisenhower? Every candidate has been a poor compromise since then . . . except that they have been in the pockets of special interests until Trump came along. He is not owned. The establishment hates his guts. Yet, he is little more than a hustling demagogue. That is truly damning his opposition and the clearly owned and corrupt incumbent. America and the world deserve better.

      https://youtu.be/D3JX4m4nJKw

      • America and the world deserve nothing better than what is happening due to the fawning mendacity of America and the world re. the vested interests that have been rampaging throughout America and the world since the Second World War and probably before then. America and the world believe they can take the place of God – the Creator of all things visible and invisible. So did the architects of the Tower of Babel!
