Women of Unusual Size

Alain Soral is a conservative political activist, commentator, and actor who holds joint French-Swiss citizenship. Mr. Soral often expresses, shall we say, controversial opinions on various sensitive topics, and has been convicted in the past for his anti-Semitic remarks.

As reported in Tuesday’s news feed, Alain Soral’s latest transgression was to refer to a journalist named Catherine Macherel as a “fat lesbian”. I’ve looked at her photos, and that seems a simple factual description to me, but what do I know? Maybe he should have called her a dyke of size instead. And for good measure he might have added the descriptor “comeliness-impaired”.

After more than a year of legal maneuvering, Mr. Soral has finally been sentenced by a Swiss Court to sixty days in durance vile for his heinous crime. In the video below, he makes a statement after his sentencing to the assembled gentlemen of the press.

Video transcript:

00:00   So you waited, it’s good that you are here. You haven’t been waiting in vain.
00:04   I’m just going to read a little text.
00:07   It will be my final statement, outside the trial.
00:11   May I proceed? I admit that I had somewhat idealized
00:15   the Switzerland of my childhood, that of the 1960s and 1970s,
00:20   back when I used to go on vacation in Lausanne, at my aunt’s, Christiane.
00:23   I had not taken into account the damage done since then by the French-like leftism,
00:26   and more recently by wokeism, and the cancel culture,
00:30   to the independence and farsightedness of this country. If I had been aware of this deterioration,
00:34   I would have abstained from answering and arguing as I did.
00:38   I would have let people harass, defame and insult me in silence,
00:42   as the court has invited me to do, in order to preserve
00:46   a little of the tranquility that I have been seeking in Switzerland. Switzerland, a historic land
00:50   of refuge and tolerance, where, I remind you, I have no militant or public activity.
00:54   I have too much respect for Switzerland and for politics to meddle
00:58   in Swiss politics. But what is done is done.
01:01   I can only hope that my misadventure, one of a writer who, at retirement age,
01:06   has been promised 3 months in prison, for defending himself orally against mendacious accusations,
01:10   that this misadventure, I say, will alert those Swiss citizens attached to freedom of expression
01:14   about the damage caused by a culture of communal victimhood, which has never stopped spreading;
01:19   damage done to civil peace
01:22   and public freedoms. Thank you for listening to me.
01:27   And to some, thank you for hearing it.

  1. Dykes of unusual size?

She probably has six fingers on her right hand too.

    • The title is a reference to “The Princess Bride” and the Fire Swamp wherein live Rodents of Unusual Size.

  2. Calling a self confessed lesbian, a lesbian, is homophobic? Spoken like a true dialectic…

    • I don’t think the outrage was over identifying a lesbian as a lesbian. The modifier “fat” is apparently verboten in formerly free nation of Switzerland, even though it is observedly correct.

Perhaps if he had referred to her as “horizontally diverse” or “kilogrammatically vibrant” he would have flown under the radar of the Newspeak censors.
