Freezing Out the AfD in Hesse

As it becomes increasingly popular, the AfD (Alternative für Deutschland, Alternative for Germany) is also increasingly frozen out of political offices to which it would otherwise be entitled. The political establishment is determined to keep the AfD from exercising any meaningful political power. The latest example of this process comes from the state of Hesse.

Many thanks to Hellequin GB for translating this article from Apollo News. The translator’s comments are in square brackets:

Second strongest force — Nevertheless, parties prevent the election of AfD vice-president

Although the AfD became the second strongest force in the last state election in Hesse, the other parties refused to give her the post of state parliament vice-president. And this despite the fact that the candidate Anna Nguyen, as the daughter of Christian-Vietnamese refugees, does not fit into the mold of supposedly xenophobic AfD officials. [She’s a Christian and very pleasant to look at — we can’t have that, now, can we? The hypocrisy of the Left never ceases to amaze me… NOT.]

In the state elections in Hesse last fall, the AfD became the second strongest force with over 18%, ahead of even the SPD, which came in third with a good 15%. Nevertheless, the party will now not receive the vice-presidential position in the state parliament that it is entitled to. In all three rounds of voting, the CDU, SPD, FDP and Greens voted against the AfD candidate.

She doesn’t fit at all into the media-political mold of supposedly xenophobic, right-wing extremist AfD officials. The 33-year-old management consultant Anna Nguyen, herself the daughter of Christian Vietnamese refugees, entered the race for the party. Nguyen ran for the AfD at number 9 on the list and was recently elected to parliament.

The CDU MP Astrid Wallmann had previously been re-elected to the office of President of the State Parliament. The state parliament later re-elected CDU politician Boris Rhein as Minister-President. He now leads a CDU-SPD government in Hesse. The previous coalition with the Greens had ended the Union (CDU) in the state.

In many state parliaments and also at the federal level, it has now become practice to deny the AfD their positions in the parliamentary presidium, even if this is sometimes required by law. The argument is sometimes made that the candidates proposed by the party are too radical or that the party fundamentally rejects it.

Afterword from the translator:

The old parties are showing their undemocratic face unabashedly here. The hatred and agitation sown by the old parties against other opinions are increasingly destroying democracy in Germany, or what is left of it, and turning it into another fascist one-party state. The MSM is aligned and plays along with anything that’s been decided by their masters, and “reports” accordingly to keep the sheeple dreamily in Lalaland. One can only hope that everyone, if slowly, will realize this soon. The parliamentary rules of procedure must be changed so that a parliamentary group that has been elected to parliament with the required majority automatically appoints a state or federal parliamentary vice-president. It must also be the case that if a faction dissolves, the position of vice president automatically disappears. But since those that are happily feeding at the trough are the ones making the rules, a total turnaround or destruction of the current system is the only answer, otherwise it will be business as usual until the entire country is destroyed by these political players.

    • German leaders do, look at Sturmbahnführer Ursel…Germans have never been rebellious and their last winning battle was in the Teutoberg Forest in 9 AD…

  1. These aren’t your Grandfather’s Nazis, and I don’t mean the AfD. The Ampel can’t even make the trains run, much less on time.

  2. I couldn’t find an appropriate section for this and I think it’ll be of interest to all, so I’m posting it here. Apologies in advance..

After studying the habits and tendencies of ‘toddlers over the past 20 or so years, I’ve come up with two axioms that’re as predictable as a well-regulated Rolex: 1) ‘toddlers LIE and LIE and LIE and, then, they LIE about their LIES….which is a LIE. Then, they’ll point their collectivist fingers at their opponents and accuse them of lying, which is a LIE; and 2) if you ask a ‘toddler a simple, direct question, you’ll receive one (or more) of these three responses: -crickets-, insults (e.g., “Your’re a racist!!”) or a non-sequitur (i.e., providing an answer to a question that wasn’t asked). The one thing you won’t receive is a simple, direct answer to the question posed. To wit…

My apologies, but I did actually try that before posting here. Oddly, it kept taking me back here. I’m still unable to locate the usual page listing of news items from around the world.
