Economic Cliff Looms as EU Faces Tightened Spending and Funding Cuts

The year 2026 presents a critical juncture for the European economy, marked by a confluence of factors that could precipitate a return to the dark days of the previous decade, POLITICO writes.

With the implementation of reformed EU spending regulations and the cessation of post-pandemic funding by the European Commission, highly indebted nations like France and Italy are bracing for significant financial strain, a scenario exacerbated by looming elections.

Nils Redeker of the Jacques Delors Institute warns of a potential relapse into the economic stagnation of the 2010s, particularly impacting Southern European economies that grappled with prolonged recessions and soaring debt following the eurozone crisis. The discontinuation of pandemic-related financial assistance, coupled with ongoing obligations to invest in green and digital initiatives, threatens to create fiscal deficits, particularly for countries burdened by substantial debt.

“That’s Joe Biden?” Biden Family Associate Confirms Joe & Family Used Email-Aliases During Vice Presidency

Authored by Ryan Morgan via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours)

Eric Schwerin, an associate of President Joe Biden and his family, appears to have confirmed allegations that the president and several of his family members relied on aliases and personal email accounts to communicate amongst themselves during his term as vice president.

In a transcribed interview conducted on Jan. 30 and released on Monday, Mr. Schwerin identified President Biden as the person behind at least two email aliases that were active between 2009 and 2017 during his time as vice president during the Obama administration. Mr. Schwerin’s testimony provides an added layer of confirmation to allegations Republican investigators have raised for months, that the president and his family concealed their communications through various assumed names.

Don Lemon Claims Musk Interview ‘Suppressed’ on X — Except it Has 3x as Many Views as YouTube

Don Lemon, a stupid a*****e according to Elon Musk, is fighting tooth and nail to cling to relevance after he was unceremoniously ‘fired’ by Musk for a duplicitous, CNN-style “gotcha” interview which aired on X and multiple other platforms. The interview has roughly 400,000 on Musk’s platform.

Lemon then threw a hissy-fit, suggesting Musk went “back on his word,” and insinuating that X doesn’t want “new and diverse voices.”

It then came out that Lemon had demanded a $5 million up-front payment from X, on top of an $8 million salary, equity in X, the right to approve any changes in X policy related to news content, and a Tesla Cybertruck.

Now, Lemon is claiming that X is suppressing his Musk interview.

Evidence of Foreign Nationals Accessing Dominion Voting Machines Leaked to Public

Authored by Ken Silva via Headline USA

A defamation lawsuit between Dominion Voting Systems and former Overstock.com CEO and Donald Trump supporter Patrick Byrne has descended into chaos after one of Byrne’s attorneys leaked evidence that foreign nationals remotely accessed voting machines used in Michigan in the 2020 elections.

The leaked evidence has been floating around social media for about the last week. The evidence includes emails between Dominion workers about voting machines being accessed remotely from people in Kosovo and elsewhere.

It wasn’t clear whether the emails were authentic at first, but Dominion apparently confirmed the evidence when it notified the presiding judge about the leak in a filing on Friday. The attorney who leaked the evidence, Stephanie Lambert, has also now been arrested over the matter.

FBI and DHS Share and Receive “Extremism” Data With Social Media and Gaming Companies

What one might call the “public-private surveillance and censorship partnership” in the US is going strong, even regarding gaming — as gleaned in a new report detailing FBI and DHS (Department of Homeland Security) report on “countering violent (domestic) extremism.”

The tone of the report seems extreme. The two US government agencies claim that there is such violence to be found on social and gaming platforms, and so to “counter” it — the companies behind these platforms and the government agencies have been holding regular meetings.

The reason why the document saw the light of day is that the US House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee asked the FBI and DHS that it be submitted.

FBI Figures Show Crime Fell as Americans Stocked Up on Guns in 2023

FBI figures reported by NBC News on March 19, 2024, show that crime fell during 2023, a year in which there were over one million background checks a month for gun purchases.

On March 19, 2024, Breitbart News spoke with National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Mark Oliva and he said it has now been 55 consecutive months of one million-plus NICS checks.

This means, leading up to 2023 and throughout 2023, Americans were pouring into gun stores to acquire firearms, yet “fourth-quarter numbers” reported by NBC News showed “a 13% decline in murder in 2023 from 2022, a 6% decline in reported violent crime and a 4% decline in reported property crime.”

EU Approves Critical Materials Mining Amid Environmental and Social Concerns

Despite environmental and social apprehensions, EU governments have sanctioned domestic mining activities for critical raw materials through the latest legislation, aiming to propel green technologies forward while some lawmakers advocated for heightened protection of local communities, Euronews writes.

EU Passes the AI Act — A Law Accused of Legalizing Biometric Mass Surveillance in Europe

The European Parliament (EP) has passed the AI Act, a piece of legislation that started to be drafted back in 2021 as a way to prevent mass surveillance based on biometrics — but has now in fact promoted this practice into law.

And it’s a law that will enter into force this May after receiving a “blessing” from the Council of the EU, to then be implemented starting 2025.

The EU for its part announced the adoption of the AI Act as a “landmark” event, and touts it as providing safeguards regarding AI’s “general purpose,” as well as “limiting the use of identification systems by law enforcement.”

The EU also claims that the act promotes not only safety and compliance, but also innovation.

EU Plans Early Ban on Gas and Oil Heating: Impact on Households

The EU is advancing its efforts to combat climate change by planning an early ban on gas and oil heating systems. While Germany aims for climate neutrality by 2045, the EU is pushing for a more aggressive approach to accelerate the replacement of old heating systems, according to Focus online.

According to a new heating law, German households will no longer be allowed to use fossil fuels by 2045. Municipalities have 20 years to revise their heat planning and transition to more environmentally friendly alternatives such as district heating or local heat networks. Where this isn’t feasible, heat pumps, pellet stoves or solar thermal systems are to be used.

EU Silent on Ukraine’s Bid for Membership Amid Farmer Protests

As Ukraine prepares to join the European Union, Brussels remains tight-lipped, prioritizing internal matters and the looming European election over enlargement talks, POLITICO writes.

The EU’s reticence comes amidst widespread farmer protests across the continent, fueled by concerns over competition from cheap imports, including those from Ukraine, alongside soaring fuel costs and stringent environmental regulations.

European leaders are treading cautiously, offering concessions to appease disgruntled farmers while keeping discussions about expansion to a minimum. Hungary Tells Milan Court to Hand Over Marchesi

Budapest prosecutors reject option of house arrest in Italy

Hungarian prosecutors have told the the Milan Court of Appeal to hand over Gabriele Marchesi, a young Italian who is under house arrest on a European arrest warrant for allegedly attacking neo-Nazis in Budapest a little over a year ago, in conspiracy with Ilaria Salis.

The Budapest prosecutors were replying to a request from the Italian court for them to consider ‘alternative instruments’ to jail in Hungary, such as continued house arrest in Italy.

Marchesi and Salis, whose recent appearance in court led on a chain with her hands and ankles cuffed prompted Rome to protest to Budapest, are accused of being part of a German-led ‘hammer gang’ that allegedly targeted neo-Nazis marking their Day of Honour a year ago to commemorate a Nazi regiment that they say heroically resisted Soviet attacks.

The father of Salis, a 39-year-old Monza elementary school teacher, has said she was tortured to elicit a confession while a former cellmate said the jail was dirty, full of bed bugs and mice, and the scene of allegedly cruel punishments including cold showers.

On Tuesday the father, Roberto Salis said his daughter was the victim of a “political trial”.

“On February 28 last Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto made a statement that described my daughter as guilty, voicing he hope for exemplary punishment,” he told a press conference at the EP organized by Green-Left Alliance MEP Massimiliano Smeriglio and Democratic Party (PD) MEP Brando Benifei.

Italy: Prof Who Hailed BR Woman Says FI Youth Disrupting Lectures

Disciplinary action against Di Cesare ‘crazy’ says Cacciari

An Italian university professor who hailed a Red Brigades woman on her recent death as sharing the same revolution as her although their ways to achieve it were different has complained that her philosophy lectures are now being systematically disrupted by members of the youth wing of the centre-right post Berlusconi Forza Italia (FI) party.

“It’s fascist thuggery and intimidation, threatening the freedom to educate, I can’t get through my lectures on Walter Benjamin,” said the 67-year-old Rome Sapienza lecturer, Donatella Di Cesare.

Di Crease said on the death earlier this month of BR member Barbara Balzerani, who took part in the 1978 kidnapping of Christian Democrat leader Aldo Moro that killed his five escorts, in a widely criticised post she subsequently cancelled: “Your revolution was also mine.

Different ways do not cancel ideas.

With a heavy heart a farewell to Comrade Luna (Moon) #barbarabalzerani”.

Balzerani, who never reneged on her past of political violence, but said she was sorry for the victims, was involved in several killings including the Aldo Moro street ambush Moro was kidnapped in the raid, and killed 54 days later.

Balzerani was also involved in the abduction of United States General James L. Dozier in 1981.

The previous year she was part of the BR hit squad that assassinated magistrate Girolamo Minervini.

She was arrested in 1985.

Due to her ability to dodge arrest she was dubbed “the scarlet pimpernel” by the Italian media.

Di Cesare’s praise for Balzerani was condemned by the centre right, with rightwing League leader Matteo Salvini calling it a “disgrace” and added: “In a university chair at the Sapienza and very often a guest of the TV salons of (independent broadcaster) La7.

“An unacceptable insult for the victims of Red terrorism. “Shame on her.

But leftwing former Venice mayor and fellow philosophy lecturer Massimo Cacciari defended Di Cesare Friday saying it was “crazy” to think of disciplinary action against her.

He pointed out that Di Cesare was an internationally respected academic and that she had immediately clarified her views saying she had never had any sympathy for terrorism.

Heavy Fighting Rages Around Gaza’s Biggest Hospital as Israel Raids it for a Second Day

The Israeli military’s claim that dozens of Hamas fighters were killed in the hospital could not be confirmed.

RAFAH, Gaza Strip — Explosions and shootings shook the Gaza Strip’s biggest hospital and surrounding neighborhoods as Israeli forces stormed through the facility for a second day Tuesday. The military said it had killed 50 Hamas militants in the hospital, but it could not be independently confirmed that the dead were combatants.

The raid was a new blow to the Shifa medical complex, which had only partially resumed operations after a destructive Israeli raid in November. Thousands of Palestinian patients, medical staff and displaced people were trapped inside the sprawling complex Tuesday as heavy fighting between troops and Hamas fighters raged in nearby districts.

“It’s very hard right now. There’s heavy bombardment in the area of Shifa, and buildings are being hit. The sound of tank and artillery fire is continuous,” Emy Shaheen, who lives near the hospital, said in a voice message with repeated booms of shelling audible in the background. She said a large fire had been raging for hours near the hospital.

The Israeli military said it raided Shifa early Monday because Hamas fighters had grouped in the hospital and were directing attacks from inside.

In Ukraine, Graham Urges Expanded Conscription Despite Mounting War Fatigue

On his latest of far too many visits to Ukraine, Sen. Lindsey Graham on Monday urged legislators to expand the pool of citizens subject to being drafted and thrown into the country’s losing war against Russia, saying, “We need more people in the line.”

The Ukrainian military accepts voluntary enlistments from those 18 and older. However, in stark contrast to Americans’ experience with military drafts, Ukraine exempts men under 27 from being conscripted. Since December, the country’s legislature has been considering lowering the minimum draft age to 25, to meet the military’s projected need for upwards of a half-million more soldiers.

“I would hope that those eligible to serve in the Ukrainian military would join. I can’t believe [conscription age starts] at 27,” Graham told the press. “You’re in a fight for your life, so you should be serving — not at 25 or 27.”

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that Texas could enforce an immigration law that would allow local officials to arrest migrants suspected of entering the U.S. illegally.

This means the law can go into effect as litigation occurs in lower courts, according to CNN.

The court rejected an emergency request from the Biden Administration that claimed states don’t have authority over immigration and that it’s strictly a federal issue.

The law in question is Senate Bill 4 and it allows police to arrest migrants who illegally cross the border and give judges authority to deport them back to Mexico.

US Supreme Court Divided Over Convicted Border Drug ‘Mule’ Appeal

The US Supreme Court is grappling with a California woman’s appeal to overturn her conviction for smuggling drugs across the US-Mexico border. Delilah Guadalupe Diaz claims she unwittingly acted as a “blind” drug mule. The dispute centers on the admission of testimony from an expert witness challenging Diaz’s lack of knowledge about the hidden methamphetamine valued at $368,550 found in the car she was driving, as reported by Reuters.

Alabama Legislature Approves Ban on State Funding for DEI in Public Universities

The Alabama legislature on Tuesday approved legislation barring state funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs at public universities and other educational bodies or government agencies while also restricting instruction on certain race and gender-related topics.

Should GOP Gov. Kay Ivey sign the legislation, it would take effect on Oct. 1, The Hill reported. Apart from public universities, the funding ban also applies to school boards and government agencies. DEI programs remain permissible on public campuses, however, provided they receive no state funding.

Bavaria Prohibits Gender Distinctions in Universities and Schools

In Bavaria, the use of gender-neutral language symbols such as asterisks, underscores, or colons is now prohibited in government offices and educational institutions. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting in Munich, where the General Administrative Regulation for the authorities of the Free State of Bavaria (AGO) was amended accordingly, as reported by Spiegel.

While state authorities, including schools, were already obligated to adhere to official German spelling regulations in official correspondence, this regulation has now been “clarified and supplemented,” according to official sources.

Bavaria Bans Gender-Sensitive Language in Public Institutions

Bavaria, a state in Germany, has implemented a prohibition on the use of gender-neutral language in educational institutions and other public bodies, as reported by AP News. This decision, made by the Bavarian state government, comes amidst a contentious national conversation about inclusivity in the German language.

The amendments to language regulations affect all public sectors, including schools and universities, as reported by the German news agency dpa. While some advocate for language reform to lessen male-centric structures, others, particularly conservatives, argue against what they perceive as forced and cumbersome alterations.

‘UN Women’ Says Transgender Men Are the Most Oppressed Women

Some years back, Martin Neeves, a British chap from the East Midlands, went to a psychic, talked to a spirit and decided that deep inside he’s really a woman named ‘Katie’.

Fifty years ago, he would have been a tabloid footnote, but things being what they are, Martin, a mediocre photographer, has become a DEI hero, reaching new career heights, spreading awareness as a “Trans” ambassador, conducting diversity training and appearing on the BBC.

Within a year, Martin had won the “British Diversity Awards Hero of the Year 2023”, become a “DIVA Awards Unsung Hero of the Year Finalist 2023” and was honored as the “Outstanding Female LGBTQIA+ Champion 2023”.

Now Martin will be one of the British delegates to the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

The UN Commission dedicated to “the empowerment of women and girls” is running low on them.

UN Women had picked Munroe Bergdorf as its UK champion despite his rants about white people, posting, “Honestly, I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes, all white people. Because most of y’all don’t even realize or refuse to acknowledge that your existence, privilege and success as a race is built on the backs, blood and death of people of color. Your entire existence is drenched in racism.”

According to Reddux, a feminist site that chronicles transgender issues, Bergdorf had been dumped from the UK National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NPSCC) “when it was discovered that had invited children to message him privately on social media”.

But Martin and Munroe are not the only UN Women figures confused about what a woman is.

Amy Bryant, a USA delegate to UN Women, “identifies as queer, trans, and disabled”, and uses “they/them” pronouns.

Tate Smith, an “award-winning Trans activist & speaker”, who started out as a woman and is trying to become a man with doses of testosterone and butch haircuts, is a delegate to UN Women despite not wanting to be a woman.

Between the men who want to be women and the women who want to be men, what is UN Women doing anyway?
