“We Are Entering a Period of Warfare”: An Interview With George Friedman

George Friedman is a geopolitical forecaster and strategist on international affairs and the founder and chairman of Geopolitical Futures. He has briefed numerous military and government organisations in the United States and overseas. For almost twenty years he was CEO and then chairman of Stratfor, a company he founded in 1996. We talked to George Friedman about global warmongering, how the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East will likely end, and whether the balance of power is shifting in a globalised world.

In a recent analysis on your website, you paint a bleak picture of what the future holds for the world. In the aftermath of the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas war you write about a possible Chinese-Japanese conflict, Turkey intruding in Central Asia, Russia’s sphere of influence, and according to your sources, Serbia is preparing for war, which would topple the Western Balkans into chaos. Are these actual predictions or just possible scenarios?

No. They are simply areas where I have knowledge of the level of tension. However, when you have so many areas that might have tension, the probabilities of multiple warfare rise. We are entering a period of warfare, which by the way is routine. We humans wage war on a constant basis. And obviously, World War I and World War II, but even the Cold War, had many aspects of warfare. So this is not unprecedented. It is not catastrophic, but it is what we are looking at.

2 Kings County Deputies Wounded by 3rd in Accidental Shooting

Two Kings County Sheriff’s deputies were injured in an accidental shooting by a third deputy, a sheriff’s spokesman reported Friday.

The injuries were non-life threatening and the deputies were treated and are recovering, the spokesman reported. The deputy who fired the round from a service handgun was placed on administrative leave during an investigation of the incident.

The shooting took place as the deputies were taking part in night training in lowlight settings, according to the sheriff’s office. The weapon involved was a Glock semi-automatic pistol.

A spokesman said that the shooting happened after a qualification round when the deputy was attempting to disassemble the pistol in an area set aside for weapons cleaning, but was unable to do so because it was “jammed.”

In order to complete the disassembly of a Glock pistol, the magazine must be removed and the gun racked to ensure there is not a round in the weapon. Then the trigger is pulled to continue disassembly. It appeared from the explanation that there was a live round in the weapon when the trigger was pulled.

The spokesman said the deputy had the weapon pointed down at a table when he pulled the trigger and the other deputies were standing nearby. When the weapon discharged, the bullet went through the wood table, struck concrete, ricocheting into the legs of the other two deputies.

Breaking: New Jan 6 Footage Shows Matthew Perna, Who Committed Suicide After DOJ’s Enhanced Prosecution, Calmly Walking Through Capitol Alongside Police

Newly released footage from Hanuary 6, 2021, released by House Speaker Mike Johnson, shows Matthew Perna, who tragically took his own life, calmly strolling through the building alongside other protestors and even many police officers. Perna killed himself after prosecutors in his case added a terrorism enhancement in advance of his sentencing.

At the time of Perna’s death, his mourning family reportedly said that he “couldn’t take another day” after learning of the sentencing enhancement. His aunt, speaking to Dinesh D’Souza in his documentary Police State, revealed that Perna had a positive outlook when it came to serving time for trespassing on January 6, but that the terrorism enhancement was more than he could bear. After his death, she said she spoke to his prosecutor who claimed the enhancement would have been dropped in due time. But it was too late for Perna.

Bystander Fatally Shot During Street Takeover in South Los Angeles

A 23-year-old male bystander was shot and killed Friday night during a South Los Angeles street takeover, police said.

Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call near the intersection of 54th Street and Manhattan Place about 11:55 p.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

They arrived to find a man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound as numerous vehicles and pedestrians were leaving the area, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification, authorities said.

In recent years, street takeovers have become a regular occurrence in neighborhoods across Los Angeles County, where drivers perform stunts in the middle of busy intersections or race their vehicles in residential streets as spectators look on, posting videos on social media. These gatherings have on occasion turned deadly, with shootings and vehicle crashes.

D.C. Issues Public Emergency as Juvenile Crime Spikes 10% From Alarming Rate in 2022

Washington, DC, Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public emergency in the nation’s capital this week after the opioid fatalities spiked and juvenile crime soared ten percent from 2022’s alarming rate.

The order will enhance the activation, implementation, and coordination of aid agreements between the District, federal, and local authorities to allegedly reduce crime.

Crime soared in 2022 after U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves refused to prosecute 67 percent of those arrested. In turn, 222 criminal homicides occurred in 2023, a 35 percent increase from the same period in 2022, according to police statistics. The district eclipsed 200 killings on August 12, the earliest point since the late 1990s.

SpaceX Launches Giant New Rocket But Explosions End the Second Test Flight

SpaceX launched its mega rocket Starship but lost both the booster and the spacecraft in a pair of explosions minutes into Saturday’s test flight.

The rocketship reached space following liftoff from South Texas before communication suddenly was lost. SpaceX officials said it appears the ship’s self-destruct system blew it up over the Gulf of Mexico.

Minutes earlier, the separated booster had exploded over the gulf. By then, though, its job was done. Saturday’s demo lasted eight or so minutes, about twice as long as the first test in April, which also ended in an explosion. The latest flight came to an end as the ship’s six engines were almost done firing to put it on an around-the-world path.

At nearly 400 feet (121 meters), Starship is the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built, with the goal of ferrying people to the moon and Mars.

“The real topping on the cake today, that successful liftoff,” said SpaceX commentator John Insprucker, noting that all 33 booster engines fired as designed, unlike last time. The booster also separated seamlessly from the spaceship, which reached an altitude of 92 miles (148 kilometers). Added commentator Kate Tice: “We got so much data, and that will all help us to improve for our next flight.”

SpaceX founder Elon Musk watched from behind launch controllers at the southern tip of Texas near the Mexico border, near Boca Chica Beach. At company headquarters in Hawthorne, California, employees cheered as Starship soared at daybreak. The room grew quiet once it was clear that the spaceship had been destroyed.

University Broke State Law to Hire Black Candidate Over More Qualified White One

The University of Washington Department of Psychology violated a non-discrimination policy by putting “inappropriate” emphasis on applicants’ race in a hiring decision earlier this year, a university investigation found.

Update: More Details About Concord Shooting; Suspect Identified; Victim for Ex-Police Chief

Attorney General John Formella and Col. Mark Hall, director of the State Police, held a press conference Saturday morning, a day after a deadly shooting at New Hampshire Hospital, and identified the alleged shooter as a transient man from the Seacoast who had recently moved to Concord.

Police said they believe John Madore, 33, used a 9-mm pistol to kill Bradley Hass, 63, a security officer at the hospital and the former chief of police in Franklin.

Haas was killed in the hospital lobby, before a yet-to-be identified State Trooper, who was also on duty in close proximity with Haas as part of a two-man security team, shot and killed Madore near the metal detector, which is routinely used at secure facilities.

Attorney General Formella said Madore did not make his way into the lobby, where several other individuals were at the time of the shooting.

“He did not get past the metal detectors,” Formella said. “So he was engaged (immediately).”

Consistent with protocol, the name of the Trooper involved in the incident is being withheld pending the conclusion of a formal interview.

Investigators discovered an AR-15-style weapon, a tactical vest and ammunition inside an U-Haul van near New Hampshire Hospital. They could not confirm the vehicle was connected to the shooter.

“All I can tell you is that we’ve gathered information to tell us there may be a connection,” Formella said. “But beyond that, I can’t. I can’t comment because we’re still gathering facts. We’re still sifting, and so it’s important not to prejudge this and jump to conclusions before we’ve had a chance to gather all the facts, all the information.”

Hundreds Leave Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital as Many Feared Killed at UN Shelter

Hundreds of people including some patients left Gaza City’s main hospital on Saturday. Some medical staff said they had been told to leave but Israel disputes this.

Many were seen walking along rubble-strewn streets as gunfire rang out.

Separately Hamas health officials said two explosions in Jabalia in northern Gaza together killed 80 people.

Israel told the BBC it could not confirm it struck a UN school-turned-shelter but was investigating.

BBC Verify has geolocated footage to al-Fakhoura school in Jabalia that shows many people — including women and children — with severe injuries or lying motionless on the floor in different parts of the building.

There are more than 20 such casualties visible in the footage, and around half of these are seen in one particular room on the ground floor, which also shows signs of considerable damage.

The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini said he had seen “horrifying images and footage of scores of people killed and injured” in one of his agency’s schools “sheltering thousands of displaced”.

“These attacks cannot become commonplace, they must stop,” he said.

India: Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh Bans Sale of Halal Certified Products

Halal certification of food products is a parallel system which creates confusion regarding the quality of food items and is not tenable under Section 89 of the Food Law Food Safety and Standards Act, an order said.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Lucknow | Nov 18, 2023:: Mahant Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government today banned products with a halal tag. Production, storage, distribution, and sale of food products with the Halal certification has been forbidden with immediate effect, said the state government. Products manufactured for export, however, will not be subject to the restrictions.

“Strict legal measures will be implemented against any individual or firm engaged in the production, storage, distribution, buying, and selling of Halal-certified medicines, medical devices, and cosmetics within Uttar Pradesh,” an official order said.

Halal certification of food products is a parallel system which creates confusion regarding the quality of food items and is not tenable under Section 89 of the Food Law Food Safety and Standards Act, the order said. “The right to decide the quality of food items lies only with the authorities and institutions given in Section 29 of the said Act, who check the relevant standards as per the provisions of the Act”, it added.

It said that certain medicines, medical devices, and cosmetic products are reported to feature the Halal certificate on their packaging or labelling when there are “no provisions for marking Halal certification on labels in the government rules related to drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics”, nor is there any mention of Halal certification in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and its related rules.

The move comes after a police case was filed against a company and a few other organisations for allegedly “exploiting people’s religious sentiments” to boost sales by providing “forged” halal certificates. One Shailendra Sharma also took initiative for lodging FIR against the Halal menace in the state.

The case has been registered against entities such as the Halal India Private Limited Chennai, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Halal Trust Delhi, Halal Council of India Mumbai, Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra and others for allegedly exploiting religious sentiments to boost sales by providing halal certificates to customers of a specific religion, the UP government said in a statement.

The complainant raised concerns over a large-scale conspiracy, indicating attempts to allegedly decrease the sale of products from companies lacking the halal certificate, which is illegal, the UP government said.

The statement said that these companies allegedly issued forged halal certificates to various companies for financial gains, fostering not only social animosity but also violating public trust.

Earlier, it was also alleged by different quarters that Fund earned by Halal authorities were supposedly utilized by terror organisations.

Halal certification is mentioned on the labels of certain food products like dairy products, sugar bakery products, peppermint oil, salty ready-to-eat savouries and edible oils etc, the food commissioner’s office said.

Halal certification is a guarantee that the food is prepared in accordance with Islamic law and is unadulterated. If a product contains animals or animal byproducts that are considered prohibited under the law, then it cannot receive a halal certification.

Specifically, halal foods are those that are made, produced, manufactured, processed, and stored using machinery, equipment, and/or utensils that have been cleaned according to Islamic law and are free from any component that Muslims are prohibited from eating.

Ramesh Shinde, the National Spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and the writer of the book, “HALAL JIHAD” shared the available Govt order banning the Halal products in UP in his X handle.

Upananda Brahmachari, Editor of Hindu Existence Website and fighter against Halal in India conveyed his salutation to Mahant Yogi Adityanath Govt in Uttar Pradesh for taking such bold steps against Halal.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Halal Trust, in a statement, termed the allegations against Halal as “baseless” and said it will take “necessary legal measures to counter such misinformation”.

Now, this will be a big fight against Halal in the court of law.
