Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/29/2023

A flight from Tel Aviv to Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan in the Russian Caucasus, had to be diverted after pro-Hamas activists stormed the airport. The plane landed at an alternate airport, but militants also swarmed the area there, looking for Jews. Passengers were instructed to remain in the aircraft while security police quelled the rambunctious youths.

In other news, two explosions occurred at a gathering of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Indian state of Kerala, killing two people and wounding a number of others. A man who claimed to be a former member of the sect said he was responsible for the attack, and turned himself in to police.

A new report puts a nearly $2 billion price tag on spending to combat homelessness in the Denver metro area.

The report by the Common Sense Institute, a free-enterprise think tank, examined the growth of the homeless population in Colorado, in addition to spending, resources, deaths and health care. CSI found that between 2021 and this year, $1.9 billion will be spent on homelessness by federal, state, local and private entities.

2 Dead, 16 Injured in Shooting During Florida Halloween Celebrations

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — At least two people are dead and a suspect is in custody after a shooting in the heart of Ybor City, Florida’s nightlife scene, police said.

The Tampa Police Department said the shooting took place at about 3 a.m. Sunday on the 1600 block of East 7th Avenue.

Chief Lee Bercaw said it began as a street fight between two groups of people.

“Between these two groups, we had hundreds of innocent people involved that were in the way,” the chief said.

One person was killed at the scene while another died at a local hospital, according to Tampa police.

One man, Emmitt Wilson, said his 14-year-old son was one of the victims who died. Police have not confirmed the ages or identities of the fatalities.

Alarmists Threaten ‘Worldwide Societal Breakdown’ From Climate Crisis

A group of climate researchers warned this week that billions of people could find themselves in uninhabitable conditions by the year 2100 thanks to climate change.

“By the end of this century, an estimated 3 to 6 billion individuals — approximately one-third to one-half of the global population — might find themselves confined beyond the livable region, encountering severe heat, limited food availability, and elevated mortality rates because of the effects of climate change,” the authors wrote in their “2023 state of the climate report” published in BioScience.

The researchers, led by Oregon-based climate activists William J. Ripple and Christopher Wolf, stated that the effects of global warming “are progressively more severe, and possibilities such as a worldwide societal breakdown are feasible and dangerously underexplored.”

Biden Admin Targets Gun Manufacturers, Freezes Firearms Exports

Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration has declared a 90-day freeze on the approval of exports for most American-made firearms.

The move comes as the Biden admin seeks to target gun manufacturers in the wake of the tragic mass shooting in Maine this week.

However, it’s unclear how restricting gun exports could have prevented the shooting in Maine.

CAIR Sues Prison for Asking Funder of Terrorists Who Killed 8-Year-Olds to Take Off Hijab

by Daniel Greenfield

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an unindicted co-conspirator in an Islamic terrorism funding trial, has gone to bat for a convicted Islamic terrorism funder who was asked to remove her hijab.

Muna Osman Jama, a Somali immigrant, had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for providing material support to al-Shabaab: a Somali Islamic terrorist group allied with Al Qaeda.

Jama had set up a chat room to coordinate funding for Islamic terrorist operations including in Nairobi where the Jihadist group had perpetrated the Westgate Mall Massacre. During the killing spree, al-Shabaab terrorists had singled out non-Muslims by asking them to name Mohammed’s mother or recite the shahada, the Islamic creed, and if they failed, killing them.

Serving a sentence that will only end in 2027, Jama has retained her devotion to her cult. And now CAIR, which has a history of support for Islamic terrorists, is suing the Federal Correctional Institution in Waseca, Minnesota, alleging that the terrorist funder was caused “a great deal of shame and embarrassment” by being asked to remove her hijab…

Caroline Glick: Biden’s Hamas Conundrum

Since Oct. 7, American Jews have seen their civil rights trampled every day. Jewish students are subjected to constant intimidation, assault, battery and threats from Hamas supporters on campus. From coast to coast, the stories are depressingly similar. University authorities refuse to protect them from their pro-Jewish genocide peers.

Then, too, on Thursday, the New York Police Department told the Jews of Brooklyn to stay off the streets on Shabbat afternoon. Pro-Hamas will be demonstrating, and the police said that they will be unable to protect Jewish residents as the terror supporters march through their neighborhoods.

How is this happening? How is it that at a time of maximum peril, law-enforcement bodies are doing all but nothing to defend the Jewish community? Why is the FBI not arresting terror supporters as required under U.S. law? Why is the U.S. Justice Department not directing local authorities to defend the Jews?

A good place to begin to look for answers is the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. That powerful division is led by Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke.

Clarke’s appointment in 2021 caused an uproar in Jewish circles because she has a record of anti-Semitic activism and was an ardent supporter of the pro-Hamas, anti-Jewish Black Lives Matter movement.

In 1994, as the head of the Black Students Association at Harvard Law School, Clarke invited Wellesley College Professor Tony Martin to speak at Harvard. Martin had just written a Protocols of the Elders of Zion-style anti-Semitic book called The Jewish Onslaught.

Clarke defiantly defended Martin at the time and attacked the Jewish students who expressed concern about her move. She never apologized for her actions. Instead, ahead of her Senate confirmation, she told progressive, anti-Israel Jewish reporters and activists that she “regretted” the invitation. That was enough for them to declare that the allegation that Clarke remains hostile towards Jews is slander.

U.S. President Joe Biden has a problem. He staffed his administration at all levels and across departments with hardened ideologues, many of whom have records of hostility towards Jews and support for Hamas, Iran and other terror groups and regimes. Under Biden, these officials have advanced his Middle East policies that until Oct. 7 were largely aligned with the interests of Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis.

Now that those policies have been shown to be counterproductive, and at least partly responsible for the threats America now faces to its core Middle Eastern interests, the same officials remain in their positions and continue to direct the Biden administration’s policies.

Consider the Palestinians…

Chants ‘Calling for the Murder of Jews’ Were Shouted at Me During Cooper Union Protest, Student Recalls

A Cooper Union college student says protesters were “calling for the murder of Jews” when she was barricaded into the school library after a pro-Palestine rally attempted to enter the space.

“Once the protest was over, a group of religious Jewish Cooper Union students ended up in the library,” student Taylor Roslyn Lent told “The Story” on Thursday. “When the rally decided to try and get into the library as well — very angry and very loud — the school barricaded the library doors and locked us in there, along with some other students, to keep us safe from the rally, that they allowed to enter into the building.”

Video shows students attempting to study while protesters banged on the doors chanting “Free Palestine.”

“Personally, I don’t feel threatened by pro-Palestinian rallies or anything in that sense,” Lent said. “Everyone has their own right to be doing that, but I definitely did feel threatened when there were chants calling for the murder of Jews being chanted at me from my fellow students.”

Colorado Imam to Children at Mosque: Jews Are Untrustworthy, Even Tried to Kill Jesus

An imam in Colorado taught children this week that the Jews are an untrustworthy people who “lie and break their contract.” The imam, believed to be Umar Mitchell, said that the ancestors of today’s Jews killed the prophets God sent to them and “even tried to kill Jesus.” He said that not all Jews are like this, but that most are, except for “a couple of them.” One reason, he said, that “we keep losing in Palestine” is that “we keep allowing [the Jews] to trick us.” The imam said it isn’t hate speech for the children to hear this, but rather told them “it’s important for you guys to know about this.”

Pfizer Hid COVID Vaccine Trial Deaths to Secure Authorization for Public Use

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer hid a staggering 80 percent of deaths that were recorded during Covid vaccine trials as part of an apparent effort to secure authorization for public use from federal regulators.

A new study revealed that Pfizer-BioNTech was aware of a large number of deaths that occurred during the trials but held back the information from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The Big Pharma company reportedly delayed reporting vaccine-associated deaths among BNT162b2 clinical trial participants until after the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the mass public use of the product.

According to analysis in the International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice, and Research, Pfizer also failed to account for vast numbers of participants who dropped out of the drug trials.

Republicans Question Biden Official on “Disinformation” Group That Blacklisted Conservative News Outlets

A senior Biden administration representative was recently questioned in a congressional hearing by the Republican members over allegations about the federal government funding an organization that allegedly deprives conservative media platforms of advertising revenue under the guise of purging disinformation. The organization, called the Global Disinformation Index (GDI), is a UK-based think tank that flags suspected sources of disinformation, compelling advertisers to blacklist these sources, thereby threatening their financial sustainability.

The questioning unfolded in the backdrop of a hearing held by the House Foreign Affairs Committee led by the GOP. They contend that the government-funded Global Engagement Center (GEC) of the State Department, handed over a grant of $100,000 to the GDI in 2021.

UK Government Apologizes After Counter Disinformation Unit Got Caught Lying, Monitoring Journalists’ Speech

Those who may have a penchant for English literature, may also be aware of this quote from “The Witch of Edmonton” — “…This were a fine reign; To do ill, and not hear of it again.”

But even to those who lack that interest, this might seem like a succinct way to describe some of the ways politicians, and whole national cabinets — apologize, or, “apologize” — regarding certain fundamental mistakes they made/are making.

These do at times read less like apologies and more like, “can we please move on”? Fit for individuals perhaps — but is it ever, for states and governments?

Well, if talkTV host Julia Hartley-Brewer wanted a “formal apology” from the UK government, she has it. You see — the said government is either “sorry” for inflicting pain on Hartley-Brewer, or just upset because their “counter-disinformation unit” (formally — “Rapid Response Unit”) got caught, pants down, spreading actual disinformation.

UK: The ORIGINAL ‘Blade Runners’: How Secret Mob Went on 1930s Wrecking Spree of Belisha Beacons in Protest at London’s New Pedestrian Crossings

The campaign by self-proclaimed ‘Blade Runners’ to destroy Sadiq Khan’s hated ULEZ cameras has received significant attention in recent weeks.

The London mayor is facing a huge backlash to his hated scheme and saboteurs have vowed to destroy eight in ten of the cameras that are put up.

But the campaign of vandalism is far from the first time that Britons have taken a major disliking to a traffic-related measures imposed from on high.

Back in the 1930s, Belisha Beacons — as they quickly became known — were a major target for vandals.

Introduced by Transport Secretary Leslie Hore-Belisha in 1934, the amber-coloured globes sit atop black and white striped poles to mark pedestrian crossings and are now ubiquitous across the country.

But, from the day that that the first lot were installed in London in late 1934, they were hugely unpopular — and Hore-Belisha was branded a ‘traffic dictator’.

Crowd Storms Russian Airport to Protest Flight From Israel

MOSCOW (AP) — Hundreds of people on Sunday stormed into the main airport in Russia’s Dagestan region and onto the landing field to protest the arrival of an airliner from Tel Aviv, Israel, Russian news agencies and social media reported.

Authorities closed the airport in Makhachkala, the capital of the predominantly Muslim region, and police converged on the facility. There were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests.

Russian news reports said people in the crowd were shouting antisemitic slogans and tried to storm the airliner belonging to Russian carrier Red Wings.

Video on social media showed some in the crowd on the landing field waving Palestinian flags, protesters attempting to overturn a police car and others checking the passports of passengers who had arrived in Makhachkala.

In a statement released Sunday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Israel “expects the Russian law enforcement authorities to protect the safety of all Israeli citizens and Jews wherever they may be and to act resolutely against the rioters and against the wild incitement directed against Jews and Israelis.” Netanyahu’s office added that the Israeli ambassador to Russia was working with Russia to keep Israelis and Jews safe.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs for Russia’s North Caucasian Federal District, where Dagestan is located, stated that CCTV footage would be used to establish the identities of those who stormed the airport, and that those involved would be brought to justice.

While voicing support for Gaza, the regional Dagestani government appealed to citizens to remain calm and not take part in such protests.

“We urge residents of the republic to treat the current situation in the world with understanding. Federal authorities and international organizations are making every effort to bring about a ceasefire against Gaza civilians … we urge residents of the republic not to succumb to the provocations of destructive groups and not to create panic in society,” the Dagestani government wrote on Telegram.

The Supreme Mufti of Dagestan, Sheikh Akhmad Afandi, called on residents to stop the unrest at the airport.

“You are mistaken. This issue cannot be resolved in this way. We understand and perceive your indignation very painfully. … We will solve this issue differently. Not with rallies, but appropriately. Maximum patience and calm for you,” he said in a video published to Telegram.

Flight From Israel to Russia’s Dagestan Diverts as Pro-Palestinian Mob Storms Terminal

The plane landed at an alternate airport, but faced riots there as well, according to Channel 12. Passengers were instructed to remain inside the plane and riot police were called to the scene to protect them, the report says.

Footage showed a mob rampaging through an airport terminal after learning of the incoming flight.

Dagestan’s population is overwhelmingly Muslim. According to Channel 12, the crowd was apparently largely made up of Palestinian expats.

Pro-Palestinian Mobs Force Flight From Israel to Russia to be Diverted — and Target Next Airport Where it Landed, Too

A flight from Israel to Russia had to be diverted Sunday — and still faced riots at the next airport where it landed — when pro-Palestinian mobs stormed the facilities seeking to attack Jewish flyers, reports said.

The flight initially bound for Makhachkala International Airport in the heavily Muslim Russian Republic of Dagestan was diverted after scores of people waving Palestinian flags took over the facility upon learning of the flight from Tel Aviv, according to the Moscow Times.

The aircraft ended up landing at a nearby airport, which rioters were able to storm as well, with harrowing footage showing a group of people hopping fences onto the tarmac to try and reach the plane.

Videos posted to social media showed airport staff warning passengers to remain in the plane as the facility was overrun when the jet landed at 7:17 p.m. local time.

Footage also depicted rioters stopping cars and travelers at the airport and allegedly checking their passports to see if they were Jewish.

Some of the demonstrators were seen holding signs that read, “Child killers have no place in Dagestan” and “We are against Jewish refugees.”

‘Just Blind Hate’: The Persecution of Christians, September 2023

The following are among the murders and abuses inflicted on Christians by Muslims throughout the month of September 2023.

The Muslim Slaughter of Christians

Nigeria: As the genocide there of Christians continues, a Sept. 1 report found that “Of the 5,500 Christians who were killed last year because of their faith, 90 percent”—or about 4,950—”were Nigerian.”

On the night of Sept. 7, Muslims torched a Catholic seminary in Kaduna State. Although two priests managed to escape, one young seminarian, Brother Na’aman, 25, who was on the verge of completing his priesthood training, was burned alive. Police were contacted even before the attack, but came only after the terrorists had fled. “It is sad that killings and this type of evil against Christians are still going on in spite of our appeal and pleading to Nigerian government to take measures towards ending these attacks,” said the Rev. John Hayab, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter Hayab.

Canada: Live Updates: Amy Hamm’s ‘Witch Trial’ Enters Day 14 Over ‘Comments on Transgenderism’

Amy Hamm, a B.C. nurse, women’s rights advocate, and mother of two, enters Day 14 of her disciplinary hearing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) over her acknowledgement that two genders exist.

Two members of the public, who had never been patients of the accused, lodged a complaint with the BCCNM last year over an ‘I [heart] J.K. Rowling’ billboard from 2020. They claimed Hamm disseminated “medically inaccurate information” by standing in solidarity with Rowling, also an advocate for women and children.

The professional body subsequently launched an investigation into the matter, rescinding the initial charge in June 2022.

Now, they allege the nurse “[…] made discriminatory and derogatory statements regarding transgender people [between approximately July 2018 and March 2021] as a nurse or nurse educator” across various online platforms, including but not limited to, podcasts, videos, published writings and social media.

Federal Judge Shuts Down Satanic Temple Lawsuit Against Indiana’s Abortion Ban

A lawsuit initiated by The Satanic Temple challenging Indiana’s abortion restrictions was dismissed by a federal judge this week. Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson emphasized in her ruling that The Satanic Temple does not operate any abortion facilities in Indiana, and they did not identify specific members affected by the state’s law.

She concluded, “In sum, The Satanic Temple’s allegations fail to prove it has suffered any injury in fact.”

Initiated in September 2022, The Satanic Temple’s lawsuit claimed that Indiana’s restrictions on abortion infringed upon their members’ religious freedoms and violated constitutional rights.

  1. The funny thing is that on this flight there were mainly wealthy Dagestanis who were flying from Israel after undergoing treatment in Israeli clinics.
True, they managed to find one “Jew” – he was a highly qualified doctor, a candidate of sciences from Uzbekistan.

I am reading the Danish edition of Document.
They write about anti-Semitism in Russia. A correlation is made with the pre-revolutionary period. It’s all lies and propaganda.
Firstly, current anti-Semitism is exclusively Muslim in nature. There is no anti-Jewish propaganda as such in Russia; there is pandering to Muslims, as well as increased importation of them into the country from Central Asia.
There was anti-Semitism in the Russian Empire, but in the territories where Jews lived – in the so-called. “The Pale of Settlement” – Belarus and Ukraine. My Belarusian grandparents were anti-anti-Jews. Russians have a much calmer and more favorable attitude towards Jews than Ukrainians and Belarusians.
