House Passes McCarthy-Biden Debt Ceiling Deal, Sends to Senate Five Days Before Funding Crunch

The House passed legislation late Wednesday to implement the debt ceiling agreement negotiated between President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, putting Congress on track to allow more borrowing just days before the government is expected to run out of money.

The bill passed in a 314-117 vote that saw majorities in both parties support the agreement, which also meets the GOP demand of cutting nondefense discretionary spending over the next two years. Republicans supported the bill by a 149-71 margin, and Democrats supported it 165-46.

Democrats took credit for helping get the bill across the finish line. Earlier in the day, 52 Democrats made the rare move of voting with Republicans in a procedural vote to keep the bill alive.

Italy’s GDP Rose 0.6% in First Quarter — ISTAT

(ANSA) — ROME, MAY 31 — ISTAT said Wednesday that Italy’’s calendar-adjusted and seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 0.6% in the first quarter with respect to the previous three months and by 1.9% compared to the same period last year.

The national statistics agency revised the figures up, having put GDP growth at 0.5% in quarter-on-quarter terms and 1.8% in year-on-year terms in the preliminary estimates it released on April 28.

The data shows that the Italian economy surged back strongly at the start of the year after it fell by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2022 with respect to the previous three months.

Italy’s first quarter growth rate beat those of the United States (0.3%), France (0.2%) and Germany (-0.3%).

“The carry-over annual GDP growth for 2023 is equal to +0.9%,” ISTAT said.

Activists Launch Jews Against Soros to Oppose Mega-Donor’s ‘Radical Left-Wing Influence’

Conservative activists on Wednesday announced the formation of Jews Against Soros, a self-described grassroots coalition of Jews who oppose the “radical left-wing influence” of George Soros, a liberal billionaire and Democrat mega-donor, on American politics.

“Jews Against Soros will fight back against the common left-wing smear that opposition to Soros and his sprawling network of political organizations is antisemitic,” the group said in a statement. “Attacking Soros for his influence on American politics, to say nothing of his nefarious agenda in Israel itself, isn’t antisemitic. It is simply a fact that Soros funds a huge proportion of the radical left in this country. And he must be stopped.”

Adobe Tool to Stamp Out “Misinformation” is Being Added Directly to Modern Cameras

A transparency report from Adobe about how it plans to co-operate with Australia’s Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation, has revealed the extent to which its new rollout of technology that embeds data in images in order to curb misinformation is faring.

The Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), which was launched by Adobe in collaboration with Twitter and the New York Times last year announced a partnership with Nikon and Leica to bring image marking technology to the Nikon Z9 and Leica M11 cameras.

The technology, at least according to CAI, will increase trust in photographers’ digital work by securing provenance information at the point of capture, including location, time, and how the image was taken.

Body of Missouri ER Doctor Had Apparent Gunshot Wound, Found in Arkansas Body of Water

(AP) — A missing emergency room doctor from Missouri has been found dead in northwestern Arkansas, his brother said, but questions remain about what happened in the week since he was last seen.

Authorities said the body of Dr. John Forsyth, 49, was discovered in Benton County, Arkansas, roughly an hour-and-a-half drive from where the doctor’s car was found near an aquatic park in Cassville, Missouri, his brother Richard Forsyth said in an interview Tuesday. Richard Forsyth said authorities had contacted family members with the information. He provided no other details.

The black Infiniti was unlocked with John Forsyth’s wallet, two phones, a laptop and other items inside, his brother said. Police told the family there were no signs of foul play. An autopsy and official identification were pending.

“Right now, we really don’t have any breaks in the case,” Richard Forsyth said earlier Tuesday. “I’m confused, and I’m worried. And I don’t like this one bit.”

Classified Documents Discussed by Trump on Leaked Audio Reveal Mark Milley Had Plan to Attack Iran: Report

A new report out from CNN states that federal prosecutors for the DOJ possess a recording that shows former President Donald Trump speaking candidly about “a classified Pentagon document about a potential attack on Iran.”

CNN is primarily interested in what the existence of this recording means in terms of the DOJ case against Trump.

Many past presidents, including Barack Obama, have retained classified documents for the purpose of writing books, as was done in this case. The book in question for which the materials were sourced was that of Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

Dem Senator Slams ‘Greater Idaho’ Movement to Absorb Conservative Rural Counties From Liberal Oregon

Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., over the weekend spoke out against a campaign to have the rural eastern part of his home state of deep-blue Oregon effectively secede and join more conservative Idaho.

Speaking at a town hall at a local high school, Merkley said the idea of moving the Idaho-Oregon border raises important issues about Oregon’s internal situation that need to be addressed but argued the project has essentially no chance of coming to fruition.

“There are a whole set of barriers that would make the process very difficult,” Merkley said in response to a question about the so-called Greater Idaho movement, which seeks to incorporate about 13 Oregon counties, or 63% of the state’s landmass and 9% of its population, within Idaho’s borders. “I would not want to see the state carved up. I love every part of it.”

FBI Tries to Cover Up Collusion With Big Tech to Censor ‘Disinformation’

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is trying to cover up its collusion with Big Tech companies to censor the American people by blocking so-called “disinformation.”

As Slay News reported, Facebook (Meta) founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted last year that the FBI pressured his company to censor “disinformation” in the run-up to the 2020 election.

However, this so-called “Russian disinformation” that the FBI wanted to shut down turned out to be bad press for the Democrats that was based on factual information that hadn’t come from Russia at all.

The most notable “disinformation” that the FBI tried to shut down involved the revelations from the laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden at a repair shop.

The hard drive from that laptop contained emails and text messages that exposed multiple scandals involving Democrat President Joe Biden’s family, including shady international business deals.

Since taking over Twitter, Elon Musk released the company’s international communications files proving the FBI also ordered the platform to block the Hunter Biden laptop story and censor other information it disliked, further confirming Zuckerberg’s claims.

Now the FBI is moving to shut down the release of any more information about its dealings with Twitter.

Rand Paul Warns Dr. Fauci Was Part of ‘Elaborate Cover-Up’ of COVID Origin, Vows to Get to the Truth

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of covering up and downplaying the possibility that the COVID-19 pandemic was the result of a lab leak. After a former top government scientist in China said not to rule out any possible origin theory, Paul vowed on “America’s Newsroom” Wednesday to uncover the truth.

SEN. RAND PAUL: From

From day one, from January 31 of 2020, [Fauci] was conspiring with fellow virologists to cover this up because he knew he had been one of the world’s leading advocates of gain of function research for at least a decade. He’s quoted as saying that gain of function research is so important that even if a pandemic breaks out, it’ll be worth the knowledge. He’d been an advocate for a decade. He was an advocate and the chief architect of funding the lab in Wuhan. So he knew from the very beginning if this leak from the lab in Wuhan, that the guilt, the culpability for the pandemic would attach to his horrific decision to fund this lab. And so, no, he’s been trying to cover it up from day one. It’s only in the last six months or so he started saying this “open mind” thing. But no, he’s been part of an elaborate cover-up to make sure that no one ever knew the truth. But we’re going to get to the truth, I promise.

Shooting in Lebanon Kills 3, Including 2 Children, Wounds 4th Person

LEBANON, Pa. (AP) — A shooting outside an eastern Pennsylvania home killed three people, two of them children, and wounded another person, authorities said.

Chief Bret Fisher of the Lebanon police department said officers dispatched to a city residence shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday after a report of shots fired. Two victims were taken to medical facilities by ambulance and another in a private vehicle and then transferred to another facility.

Mayor Sherry Capello and Fisher said Wednesday that a 19-year-old man was killed along with two boys, aged 8 and 9. A 33-year-old man was said to be recovering after surgery. The children are students in the Lebanon School District, Capello said. Not all of the victims are related, officials said.

“It appears, at the early stages of this investigation, that one of the victims was targeted; the other three victims were uninvolved,” Fisher said. Other people besides the victims were also present in the home, he said.

Trump Slams His Former Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany: ‘RINOs & Globalists Can Have Her’

Former President Donald Trump slammed his former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany for providing what he called the “wrong poll numbers” while on Fox News.

Amazon Backs the Digital Euro

E-commerce giant Amazon said that the controversial digital euro would add value and increase innovation. But Amazon may be somewhat biased since the European Central Bank (ECB) tasked Amazon with building a digital euro prototype for application in e-commerce.

The ECB has been exploring a digital euro for a while, which it claims is supposed to be a stable alternative to money and make the central bank remain relevant in the digital era. The move would grant more central control of all spending.

Last year, the ECB tasked several private companies with building prototypes for different applications. Amazon was selected to build a prototype for e-commerce payments.

‘Cash is Printed Freedom’ — 530,000 Austrians Demanded Right to Cash Payments be Added to Constitution, But They Are Being Betrayed, Says FPÖ

After 530,000 Austrians signed a referendum petition calling for the right to cash payments to be enshrined in Austria’s constitution in 2022, Austria’s political class is refusing to move forward with adding this legal right, warns the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).

“Nowhere else in the world is an everyday life without cash so clearly rejected as in Austria. We see this justified desire of the population, which is reflected in the popular petition ‘For unrestricted cash payment,’ as a concrete work order to the parliament!,” said Finance and Budget Spokesman of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) Hubert Fuchs during a parliamentary debate.

EU Will Not Finance the Transfer of Excess Grain From Polish Silos to Africa

The European Commission is not prepared to finance the transfer of surplus grain from Polish silos to Africa because the operation would not be profitable, the EU’s Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski has said.

The commission calculated that the transfer of 200,000 tons of wheat, under the World Food Program, would cost around $150 million (€140 million).

Polish farmers have experienced significant difficulty in offloading their domestic grain production following a sustained period of Ukraine dumping its cheap, uncontrolled grain in the EU.

Publisher of Unique Literature Worldwide Blocked by International Distributor

Arktos has distinguished itself by publishing groundbreaking philosophers and social critics. Now, the publisher’s international distributor has abruptly terminated the cooperation, and more than 400 already printed titles cannot reach their audience. There is strong evidence that the distributor has been under pressure, something that has also happened in Sweden. We have spoken with Arktos founder Daniel Friberg about the ongoing struggle for freedom of speech in a shrinking cultural corridor.

Since its foundation in 2009, Arktos has managed to establish itself within a unique genre by publishing authors and philosophers such as Sir Roger Scruton, Oswald Spengler, Julius Evola, Guillaume Faye, Ludwig Klages, and Carl Grimberg. A consistent critique of modernity and support for the European New Right have contemporaneously labeled the publisher as controversial. Now, the distributor that Arktos used for its international sales, Ingram Content Group (ICG), has terminated the collaboration on unclear grounds.

UK: Met Police Officer Drags Just Stop Oil Protester Along Road

A Met Police officer dragged a Just Stop Oil protester along a west London road during a demonstration.

At 08:00 BST some 66 Just Stop Oil supporters slow-marched in three groups on roads near West Kensington station as part of a sixth week of action.

An officer was then recorded dragging a supporter along the ground by his hi-vis vest on Talgarth Road, a busy route into the capital city.

Scotland Yard said the officer moved the man to “prevent them being harmed”.

In a video posted on social media, the officer was seen pulling a protester across the road, before dropping him in front of a car and minibus in the carriageway.

As the officer walked away, other protesters helped the man stand up and reposition his banner.

Under the Public Order Act officers have powers to make activists move out of the road or face arrest.

EU Intensifies Effort to Calm Crisis in North Kosovo as Serb Protesters Rally

European Union officials met on May 31 with Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Bratislava as part of international efforts to end a crisis in Kosovo that for days has drawn ethnic-Serb demonstrators into the streets of northern towns in the former province of Serbia.

Hitler’s Multicultural Supporters

by Daniel Greenfield

“The world today needs a Hitler,” CNN correspondent Adeel Raja tweeted. Tala Halawa, the BBC’s “Palestinian” specialist, had previously tweeted a rant that included #HitlerWasRight.

Researchers have found that the #HitlerWasRight hashtag was intertwined not just with the usual white supremacists, but with more “progressive” hashtags like #FreePalestine.

Raja, a Pakistani Muslim, and Halawa, who hails from Israel’s West Bank, don’t fit the image of what people think Hitler’s fanbase looks like, but they’re more typical than you might think.

During the latest conflict between Israel and Hamas terrorists, Pakistani celebrities and politicians praised Hitler.

“I remember a saying by Hitler who said he had spared some Jews to let the world know why he killed them. Today I have developed a firm faith in this,” a Pakistani parliamentarian declared.

Pakistani actress Veena Malik tweeted the same fake Hitler quote. “I would have killed all the Jews of the world … but I kept some to show the world why I killed them.”

But it’s not just about Israel or the Jews…

In recent weeks, Musk has faced some criticism over the removal of content and accounts at the request of the Turkish government ahead of the elections.

JK Rowling Launches Blistering Attack on Journalist Over Claims of ‘Staged’ Nazi Salute at Feminist Rally

JK Rowling has torn strips off a British journalist Patrick Strudwick, after a story he wrote claimed the neo-Nazis who crashed a controversial feminist rally in Australia was planned.

Strudwick wrote an iNews article on about the ‘Let Women Speak’ rally, at which controversial gender activist Kellie-Jay Keen spoke in Melbourne on March 19.

The rally was a debacle, with pro and anti-trans activists clashing with police and each other.

A group of about 30 neo-Nazis from the Nationalist Socialist Network also turned up and performed the Hitler salute outside Victoria’s parliament building.

“In Melbourne this March, an anti-trans rally organised by British ‘gender critical’ campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen staged a mass Nazi salute,” Strudick wrote.

“She cited this as evidence of far-right influence on those who question elements of the transgender rights agenda, saying there was a ‘fascist takeover of transphobic ideas’.”

Rowling took great umbrage to the suggestion that Keen, an anti-trans activist, had anything to do with the neo-Nazis who came out in force on the day.

  1. The Rockefeller Foundation wants to “usher in a new era of global collaboration”.
    For “collaboration” read dictatorship.

    • Every one of these foundations left by the creators of unimaginable wealth are eventually corrupted and turned to evil use.

Much of what is wrong with the world today can be traced back to these immense fortunes – either left to foundations such as The Rockefeller Foundation, or inherited as generational wealth to those who lack the discipline and the wisdom to use it. Even corporate wealth is corrupted and put to evil uses when it vastly exceeds the needs of the original business.

Whatever arises from the ashes of our dying society will need to address the problems caused by these kinds of fortunes. Perhaps limiting the amount of inherited wealth to no more than 10x the average household income, prohibiting foundations or requiring a mandatory sunset clause, say 20 years. Corporate power needs to be decisively dealt with so that some evil firm like Blackrock can never happen again.

    • I guess it’s mostly older Brits who remember the 1970s BBC TV comedy “Dad’s Army”, about the Home Guard in WW2. The bumbling Corporal Jones, supposedly a Boer War veteran, was played by Clive Dunn, who was rather younger than the character.

Around 1990 I was working in a classical CD shop in London’s Charing Cross Road (no. 84, previously a second-hand bookshop immortalised by Helene Hanff); being in a theatrical district (the buildings, not necessarily the people) we had many actors as customers.

One day Dunn came in with the actress Oona Stubbs; I recognised her, but couldn’t place him until I saw the name on his credit card, and said “Of course, that’s who you are”. Without missing a beat, he indicated Oona and said “Yes, have you met my mother?”

Sorry Baron, I know it’s off topic, but it’s a good story.

      • “Dad’s Army” is even older than the ’70s. I left England in 1970, and it had been on the telly for several years before that, possibly for the whole time I lived there.

Mette Frederiksen is heading towards the abyss

    31/5-23

    By Lars Hedegaard

Since Mette Frederiksen became prime minister in 2019, the number of non-Western immigrants has increased by 39,000 (if you ignore the Ukrainian refugees).

It is true that Mette Frederiksen had promised an end to asylum combined with an asylum center abroad, but that did not materialize.

On the other hand, the Danes can be happy that Islamization has been given another boost. Before the election, Mrs Frederiksen had made it known that she understood the seriousness of the problem and wanted to do something about it.

She didn’t want that either. More and more people are talking about the Prime Minister rummaging around with plans to become something big on the international stage when she has finished destroying Denmark.

In this connection, she will soon visit Biden in the White House, who is also in the process of thinning out his country’s population with an estimated seven million illegal migrants since he came to office.

The two must have a lot to talk about, although it will probably be mostly Mrs. Biden who speaks, as her husband has become somewhat unclear.
