Biden Economy Sent Retirement Funds Spiraling, Prompting Mass Bailouts for Union Pensions

America’s pension plans are struggling to meet their financial targets amid ruinous inflation, compromising the retirement of countless Americans. The Biden administration has responded by doling out massive amounts of taxpayer money to bail out retirement funds mostly run by unions.

In 2022, the U.S. economy has had to contend with decades-high inflation figures, brought on in part by large-scale federal deficit spending. In turn, the Federal Reserve has imposed considerable interest rate hikes to combat rising inflation, resulting in substantial market volatility that has adversely impacted individual and professional retirement funds alike.

The U.S. economy in June witnessed a major market fall that saw the erasure of roughly $3 trillion from American retirement accounts. Numerous pension funds have also reported substantial losses.

The U.S. Virgin Islands government filed a lawsuit Tuesday against JPMorgan Chase accusing the Wall Street bank of helping Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation by failing in its duty to report suspicious financial activity.

“Over more than a decade, JPMorgan (JPM) clearly knew it was not complying with federal regulations in regard to Epstein-related accounts as evidenced by its too-little too-late efforts after Epstein was arrested on federal sex trafficking charges and shortly after his death, when JPMorgan (JPM) belatedly complied with federal law,” said the complaint filed by US Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George.

They are part of the “Defend The Atlanta Forest” movement opposing the police center, and are accused of throwing rocks and glass bottles, resisting arrest and possessing pipe bombs and trip wires.

The domestic terrorism charges prosecutors are pursuing can carry five to 35-year prison sentences.

‘Climate Idealism Meets the Reality’: Green Energy Failed to Meet Power Demand When it Was Most Needed

Renewable energy was unable to generate sufficient power to meet elevated energy demand during Christmas Eve snowstorms, forcing utilities in the northeastern U.S. and Texas to burn more fossil fuels to prevent outages.

Although wind turbines, solar panels and other forms of green energy have been consistently touted by the Biden administration as reliable alternatives to fossil fuels like coal and natural gas, renewables accounted for a small percentage of grids’ power output after snowstorms and a “bomb cyclone” nearly caused power outages in New England and Texas. Grid operators in both areas were forced to burn oil, a fuel that is significantly less efficient than natural gas, to avoid power outages as renewable energy sources were stymied by the harsh weather.

Two Potentially Habitable Earth-Like Planets Discovered Around a Star Near the Sun

An international scientific team led by researchers at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (IAC) has discovered the presence of two planets with Earth-like masses in orbit around the star GJ 1002, a red dwarf not far from the Solar System. Both planets are in the habitability zone of the star.

“Nature seems bent on showing us that Earth-like planets are very common. With these two we now know 7 in planetary systems quite near to the Sun” explains Alejandro Suarez Mascareño, an IAC researcher, who is the first author of the study published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics.

The newly discovered exoplanets orbit the star GJ 1002, which is at a distance of less than 16 light years from the Solar System. Both of them have masses similar to that of the Earth, and they are in the habitability zone of their star. GJ 1002b, the inner of the two, takes little more than 10 days to complete an orbit around the star, while GJ 1002c needs a little over 21 days. “GJ 1002 is a red dwarf star, with barely one-eighth the mass of the Sun. It is quite a cool, faint star. This means that its habitability zone is very close to the star” explains Vera Maria Passegger, a co-author of the article and an IAC researcher.

“This blossom killed in the bud was an offering to the homeland”, a large crowd of protesters who gathered around Hamidreza Rouhi’s grave at Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery in the south of Tehran chanted Thursday afternoon.

Rouhi, a university student who also had a modeling career since childhood, was shot dead near his home in Shahr-e Ziba neighborhood in the west of the capital on November 18. Thursday was the 40th day after his death, when Iranians hold a memorial.

Later, protesters began chanting against Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who they believe has ordered the killing of protesters.

New Russian Decree Enables New Online Censorship Powers

Russia’s Ministry of Communications, in conjunction with the Russian government’s National Broadcasting Company and all other state-owned media outlets, this week gave themselves the power to block websites they deem offensive in new ways.

The change was enacted on December 26th. Russia operates under a media censorship law that has been in place since 2013 and is often used to censor pornography.

The law does not just target pornography, however. The law allows the government to block websites deemed harmful to children and information about drug use and suicide.

Ukraine Lashes Out at Orban’s Pro-Peace Stance on Russian-Ukrainian Conflict

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been harshly criticized by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, according to remarks published on the ministry’s website on Tuesday, Dec. 27, German news agency dpa reports.

Orban’s statements “demonstrate a pathological disregard for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people who are fighting against Russian aggression,” the Ukrainian ministry said, accusing the Hungarian leader of “political short-sightedness.”

The comments came in response to a statement by Orban that the war could end if the United States stopped supplying arms to Ukraine. Orban was working in this way towards Ukraine’s defeat, even if it would increase the danger of Russian aggression directed at Hungary, the Ukrainian ministry said.

Police in China Can Track Protests by Enabling ‘Alarms’ On Hikvision Software

Chinese surveillance manufacturer Hikvision has put in place tools to help police track protest activities

Chinese police can set up “alarms” for various protest activities using a software platform provided by Hikvision, a major Chinese camera and surveillance manufacturer, the Guardian has learned. Descriptions of protest activity listed among the “alarms” include “gathering crowds to disrupt order in public places”, “unlawful assembly, procession, demonstration” and threats to “petition”.

These activities are listed alongside offenses such as “gambling” or disruptive events such as “fire hazard” in technical documents available on Hikvision’s website and flagged to the Guardian by surveillance research firm IPVM, or Internet Protocol Video Market. The company’s website also included alarms for “religion” and “Falun Gong” — a spiritual movement banned in China and categorized as a cult by the government — until IPVM contacted the company.

After 100,000 Migrants Arrive in 2022, Italy Set to Take Action Against NGO Migrant Ferry Boats

The threshold of 100,000 illegal migrants who arrived by sea in Italy this year was crossed on Dec. 21, and the number is not only a symbolic milestone but also serving as a call to action for Italy’s conservative government.

The figure of 100,000 can be compared with the 64,055 on the same date a year ago and the 33,867 arrivals by sea in 2020. This year’s number is the highest since 2017, the year when the left-wing government of Matteo Renzi finally decided to clamp down on the NGOs’ business of transferring illegal immigrants to Europe through passive and sometimes active cooperation with people smugglers, introducing stricter rules on how NGO ships were allowed to operate in the Mediterranean Sea.

EU Commissioner Who Said 6 Million More Migrants Needed for Europe Caught Up in ‘Qatargate’ Bribery Scandal

There are signs that the Qatargate bribery investigation which has rocked the European Parliament is now spreading to the European Commission, and depending on who ends up ensnared in the scandal, the investigation’s results could be catastrophic for the liberal-left ruling Brussels.

Suddenly, MEPs, shadowy NGOs, and various left-wing networks are facing much of the scrutiny they are totally unaccustomed to, including former EU commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos.

In February 2017, Avramopoulos insisted that the EU-27 would need 6 million more immigrants in the coming years and that the EU would open immigration offices in all countries on the southern coast of the Mediterranean and in western Africa as a way to fight illegal immigration.

Avramopoulos, who made the remarks during an event at the University of Geneva, was not just any commissioner at the time he called for 6 million more migrants to Europe, but the commissioner in charge of immigration, which means he had a powerful voice regarding the direction the EU took on the divisive issue.

This same former commissioner is now being eyed for his potential role in the EU’s latest scandal, which has seen at least €1.5 million in bribe money from Qatar and Morocco found in suitcases and paper bags of left-wing EU officials, including Greek MEP Eva Kaili, who was formerly a European Parliament’s vice-president and who is now awaiting trial.

Nearly 50% of Participants in ‘Monkeypox in Women’ Study Were Biological Men

Around 90% of the cases reported sex with men, and 27% were living with HIV, with 50% of the males who identify as women also being HIV+ compared to just 8% of the biological women.

In the study published in the world-class medical journal on November 17, researchers analyzed data for a total of 136 individuals with the monkeypox virus infection across 15 countries. There were 62 “trans women,” 69 “cis” women, and 5 non-binary individuals who were grouped with the “cis” women to form a category of “people assigned female at birth.”

The study notes that since May 2022, global outbreaks of human monkeypox infection have been reported in over 78,000 people, predominantly in men who have sex with men. The proportion of women has been very low, and very few studies have distinguished between cis and trans women.

Around 90% of the cases reported sex with men, and 27% were living with HIV, with 50% of the males who identify as women also being HIV+ compared to just 8% of the actual women.

The study concluded that the “clinical features of monkeypox in women and non-binary individuals were similar to those described in men,” and that anatomically, “anogenital lesions were reflective of sexual practices: vulvovaginal lesions predominated in cis women and non-binary individuals and anorectal features predominated in trans women.”

Maya Forstater took to Twitter to point out that it was hardly surprising that the findings showed women having similar clinical features as males when almost half the “women” studied were male.
