Basic Income Naples Spending Equal to Whole North Italy

446,000 Neapolitan recipients compared to 432,000 in north

(ANSA) — ROME, APR 28 — The amount spent on the government’s ‘citizenship wage’ basic income and pension in the province of Naples is almost equal to that spent in the whole of northern Italy, the ad hoc observatory of pensions and social services agency INPS said Thursday.

In and around the southern Italian port city, it said, basic income expenditure in March amounted to 105.3 million euros, compared to 107.7 million in the entire north of the country.

Over 166,000 Neapolitan households totalling some 446,000 recipients got the benefit in March compared to 221,000 households and 432,000 beneficiaries in the north.

The average monthly cheque was 631.88 in Naples in March compared to 486 euros in the north

Inflation Hits Record High of 7.5% in Countries Using Euro

BRUSSELS (AP) — Inflation hit a new record for the 19 countries that use the euro as skyrocketing fuel prices boosted by the war in Ukraine add new burdens to household finances and weigh on a slowing economic recovery from the latest outbreaks of COVID-19.

Annual inflation hit 7.5 percent for April, the highest since statistics started in 1997 and the sixth record in a row, topping the old record of 7.4 percent from March, the European Union’s statistics agency Eurostat reported Friday.

13-Year-Old Charged With Murder in Connection With Deadly Shooting of 16-Year-Old Who Was Shot in Head, HCSO Says

HOUSTON — A 13-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed.

On Thursday, March 3, a teen boy was found shot in the head outside of a business located in the 6800 block of Fry Road near FM 529.

Gonzalez said the deadly shooting occurred following an argument with two other teens outside of the business in northwest Harris County.

Investigators spoke to the victim’s brother, who told them that the other teens fired several rounds into their vehicle following the fight and then fled on foot.

Gonzalez said the 13-year-old did not know the other teen and the shooting occurred as a result of non-verbal gestures.

The 13-year-old is currently in the custody of Harris County Juvenile Probation…

Another Day, Another Criminal Not Charged by the Woke DA From the Smollett Case

Apparently, standing bloodied over a corpse and confessing to the murder isn’t enough for woke Cook County, Illinois, District Attorney Kimberly Foxx to put you in jail.

Foxx is best known, of course, for her role in dropping all charges against disgraced actor Jussie Smollett, but she’s far worse than that. In this case, a Chicago police detective commander had to override Foxx to get the suspect charged with murder.

Police allegedly encountered the suspect, Gregory Stamps, minutes after he allegedly murdered someone with a hammer in his bedroom. He reportedly had the victim’s wallet in his pocket and blood on his hands and clothes.

Investigators stated that Stamps confessed to killing the victim, then removing the victim’s clothes and dragging his naked body down three flights of stairs, leaving the body in an alley, and trashing the victim’s clothes. Yet, Foxx still declined to prosecute Stamps for murder despite this admission of guilt. And, to make matters worse, Stamps was already on parole for attempted murder.

As Cops Leave and Crime Rate Rises, Seattle Police Chief Diaz Eyes Plan to Turn the Tide

SEATTLE — From a staggering staffing crisis to soaring crime rates, the Seattle Police Department is in a dire situation.

Interim Chief Adrian Diaz was candid when he spoke to KOMO News Thursday about how his officers are struggling to deal with 911 calls. But he said he also has a new plan he hopes will retain officers over the long term.

“I am concerned as the crime rate goes up,” said Diaz, who didn’t mince words during the interview. “We’re also augmenting 99.7 percent of our shifts (and) that gets concerning because officers are getting tired.”

The department is still losing more officers than it’s hiring, and now the agency is struggling to keep up with crime in the city and its 911 calls.

“Right now, when you look at Priority 3 calls, they are approaching an hour,” he said.

  • Since January of 2020, the police department lost 332 officers — or 26 percent of its force.
  • Department officials said there are about 940 deployable officers.
  • The department is down 30 officers since the start of the year since 43 of them have left with only 13 hired as replacements.

Biden ‘Disinformation’ Chief’s Criticisms of Lab Leak Theory Were Boosted by CCP

The Biden administration’s new “disinformation” czar was cited favorably by the Chinese Communist Party in 2020 for her criticisms of proponents of the hypothesis that COVID-19 emerged from a Wuhan lab, which she dismissed as a pro-Trump talking point.

The episode is another example in which Nina Jankowicz, the newly named executive director of the Department of Homeland Security’s new Disinformation Governance Board, either labeled claims as disinformation that were later found to have credibility or gave credence to assertions that were later discredited. Most notably, she also backed Trump dossier author Christopher Steele and cast doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 election.

In a Thursday press conference, Psaki said she supports the creation of the board but does not know what it will do, how it will work, or what authority it will have.

Speaking to MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber” on Wednesday, Warren said that decisions about large communications platforms like Twitter needed to be made “as a democracy” — calling for government restrictions on the Internet. She argued that the rules can’t be dictated by someone like Musk, who “plays by his own set of rules.”

Warren previously called the deal “dangerous for democracy.”

Twitter’s Chief Lawyer Could Face Expulsion After Ownership Transfers to Musk

Twitter’s chief lawyer, Vijaya Gadde, could face expulsion from the company after ownership of the company transfers over to Elon Musk.

Gadde, who reportedly earned $17 million in 2021 as the company’s top legal counsel, may find her job on the chopping block due to her role in censoring conservatives. She has since become the subject of controversy after Musk remarked upon the platform’s decision to censor the New York Post for its coverage of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, calling her decision “obviously incredibly inappropriate.”

The article, which was published about Joe Biden’s son weeks ahead of the election, was banned from being posted on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook as being in violation of their “hacked materials” policy.

Twitter’s then-CEO Jack Dorsey later condemned the company’s decision to censor the article, telling the Senate Judiciary Committee that the action was wrong in November 2020. The authenticity of the report itself has been validated by the New York Times earlier this year.

The province of B.C. has struggled with shortages of family doctors and nurses for years, an issue that’s only been exacerbated during life with COVID and its policies, like vax-or-be-axed mandates. And while the legacy media has been praising the B.C. government’s recent decision to spend $12 million taxpayer dollars to “fast track” international nurses to the province, the outlets continue to ignore the elephant-in-the-room question: why is B.C. doing that before allowing the thousands of healthy, often naturally immune, unvaccinated healthcare workers back to work?

The average gross wage of full-time employees in February was 546,000 forints (EUR 1,470), 31.7 percent higher than the same period a year prior, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday.

The jump in the average wage was largely linked to big salary increases for defence and law enforcement staff as well as minimum wage hikes, the KSH said. The gross average wage without bonuses or benefits was 445,000 forints, 14.5 percent higher than a year earlier, while net average pay increased by 31.7 percent to 363,100 forints. The median gross wage was 378,100 forints, 14.6 percent higher than a year earlier.

Britain Makes Voter ID Compulsory — But Mail-in Voting Still a Weakness

Britain’s new Elections Act, which has just received Royal Assent, has finally made voter ID compulsory at polling stations — but questions remain about mail-in voting fraud.

The new legislation was widely opposed by left-wing political parties, including the Labour opposition, and activists, with allegations that the poor, ethnic minorities, and “trans and non-binary people” would be disenfranchised being widespread.

Czech PM Assures of Sufficient Energy Reserves for Now Following Russia Gas Cut Off to Poland and Bulgaria

Czechia now has oil reserves for three months, gas reserves for two summer months, and nuclear fuel reserves for two to three years, the country’s Prime Minister Petr Fiala revealed during proceedings in the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday.

Fiala was responding to questions concerning the energy self-sufficiency of the Czech Republic in connection with Russia stopping deliveries to Poland and Bulgaria. Czechia is one of the European countries most dependent on Russian gas and Fiala’s remarks came at the heel of the former Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek’s warning of a possible “return to Middle Ages.” Fiala said that oil reserves were now good enough for 94 days while gas reserves would be sufficient for two summer months.

Also on Thursday, the Minister of Industry Jozef Sikela issued an extraordinary measure which ordered that gas storage facilities in the Czech Republic should be 80 percent full before the heating season.

According to Artur Wróblewski, a political scientist, this shows that voters feel the ruling party is passing the test posed by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and that this is partly due to its surefooted handling of energy and migration policies.

Swedish Political Class Dumbfounded by Paludan’s Koran-Burning, Muslim Violence

In 2005, Sweden was one of the safest countries in Europe. But by November last year, the leading German newspaper Bild was pointing out that Sweden was now the most dangerous country in Europe, with four times the EU average when it comes to people dying from gunshot wounds [‘Sweden is the most dangerous country in Europe,’ writes Germany’s top-selling newspaper, Remix News, November 1, 2021]. Sweden’s major cities are now dominated by warring Muslim gangs, with innocent passers-by falling victim to their turf wars. It thus takes a very brave man to go to the most Muslim-heavy areas of such cities and set fire to the Koran. But this is what a Danish-Swedish politician, Rasmus Paludan, did this month, resulting in serious rioting that has garnered international attention. It’s just more evidence that immigration-imported Diversity Is Strength.

Paludan is the 40-year-old leader of the minor Danish political party Stram Kurs (“Hard Line”) which narrowly missed out on gaining seats in the Danish parliament in the country’s 2019 election.

The EU’s Digital Services Act is the Next Big Threat to Free Speech

Authorities across the world continue to use the Ukrainian crisis as the backdrop against which to pass, in some cases unprecedented in the way they restrict or censor free speech, legislation regulating the digital industry.

These trends are nothing new, but the current massive global crisis presents an excellent excuse to introduce draconian measures with little or no scrutiny or opposition. And so, in the EU, the Digital Services Act just got “enriched” by a new law that will allow the bloc to declare a state of emergency — on the internet.

Caroline Glick: No One to Talk to in Washington

On Tuesday, Israel Hayom reported that there is a growing sense among Israeli and U.S. officials that the Biden administration will not reach a nuclear accord with Iran. To be understood the report has to be seen in the context of a statement made later Tuesday by President Joe Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki.

During her daily press briefing, Psaki said that the administration assesses that Iran is just weeks away from nuclear breakout capabilities. Nuclear breakout is reached when a state achieves the independent wherewithal to develop nuclear weapons. A nuclear breakout state does not necessarily have nuclear weapons. But it is regarded as a nuclear armed state because it has the capacity to build a nuclear arsenal at will and within a relatively short period of time.

The Biden administration began its nuclear talks with the Iranian regime in Vienna in April 2021. The declared purpose of Biden’s nuclear diplomacy, like the declared purpose of the Obama administration’s nuclear talks with Iran which led to the 2015 nuclear agreement, is to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. But the content of Obama’s nuclear agreement and the leaks regarding the content of the deal that Biden’s team is negotiating make clear that the opposite is the case. The content of both makes clear that far from preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear armed state, the intended end of the both agreements, was and remains, enabling Iran to become a nuclear armed state, equipped with the economic wherewithal and diplomatic power to dominate its neighbors in the region…

Erdogan Visits Saudi Arabia After Crisis Over Khashoggi Case

Normalisation process began last year

ISTANBUL — Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday started a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on the invitation of King Salman bin Abd al Aziz al Saud.

A statement by the Presidential Communications Directorate made the announcement, noting that talks on bilateral relations were on the agenda as well as the “possibility of developing cooperation” between Turkey and Saudi Arabia and a look at recent events at the regional and international levels.

On the eve of Erdogan’s official visit to Riyadh, Turkey’s Treasury and Economy Minister Nureddin Nebati discussed trade cooperation with his Saudi counterpart Mohammed Al-Jadaan.

“We exchanged views on how to improve economic cooperation between our two countries on investment and trade,” Nebati wrote on Twitter.

The visit is part of a process started last year for the normalisation of relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia that had been almost entirely severed since 2018 after the killing in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul of Saudi journalist and critic of the kingdom Jamal Khashoggi.

The problems between the two countries led Saudi businessmen to impose a sort of unofficial embargo on exports from Turkey that last year dropped to their lowest level ever.

According to Saudi sources cited by the Anadolu news agency, Turkish exports to Saudi Arabia will go back to normal when relations are re-established.

Latest News in the Russia-Ukraine War

Ukrainian troops raise the flag above the town of Ruska Lozova north of Kharkiv, the country’s second largest city. Ukraine said Russian troops were continuing their efforts to gain full control of the Donbas region in the east of the country, where heavy fighting continued.

American volunteers are in Ukraine teaching local forces how to use Javelin antitank missiles, as Kyiv’s Western allies race to supply NATO-standard heavy weapons and train Ukrainian forces. Poland, meanwhile, has sent at least 240 tanks to Ukraine, enough for two brigades, along with other heavy equipment, officials said.

Afghanistan: Blast at Kabul Mosque Kills More Than 50 Worshippers

Explosion in Afghan capital is latest in string of attacks on civilians during Ramadan

A powerful explosion has killed more than 50 worshippers after Friday prayers at a Kabul mosque, the latest of a series of attacks on civilian targets in Afghanistan during Ramadan.

The blast hit the Khalifa Sahib mosque in the west of the capital in the early afternoon, according to Besmullah Habib, the deputy spokesperson for the interior ministry.

The attack came as worshippers at the Sunni mosque gathered after Friday prayers for a congregation known as Zikr — an act of remembrance practised by some Muslims but seen as heretical by several Sunni groups.

Sayed Fazil Agha, the head of the mosque, said someone they believed was a suicide bomber joined them in the ceremony and detonated explosives. “Black smoke rose and spread everywhere, dead bodies were everywhere,” he said, adding that his nephews were among the dead. “I survived, but lost my beloved ones.”

A local resident, Mohammad Sabir, said he had seen people being loaded into ambulances. “The blast was very loud. I thought my eardrums were cracked,” he said.

The emergency hospital in downtown Kabul said it was treating 21 patients wounded in the blast and two were dead on arrival. A nurse at another hospital, who declined to be identified, said it had received several people in a critical condition.

A health source said hospitals had so far taken in at least 30 bodies in total…

Shanghai Residents Use Code Words, Video to Protest COVID Lockdown

As a young tech professional in Shanghai, Daniel was unprepared for the April 1 Covid-19 lockdown that barred him from leaving his building, forcing him to rely on sparse government rations and a group chat on a mobile app for essential supplies.

The WeChat group of about 200 residents in his compound allows him to make group buys of meat, vegetables and rice — and gives him a ringside view of growing frustration over the city’s handling of the pandemic, with increasing expressions of dissent online.

“People are angry, and questioning the authorities for limiting their freedom of speech. This is new in China,” said Daniel, 31, who asked that his last name not be used.

“People use all sorts of code words to refer to the government and to political leaders, or to something that was censored, including videos being blocked,” added Daniel, who has lived in the financial hub for nearly three years.

Bosnia Clears Velika Kladusa Migrant Camp

300 transferred to reception center in Lipa

BELGRADE — A camp for illegal migrants in Velika Kladusa in the far northwest of Bosnia-Herzegovina along the border with Croatia was cleared on Thursday of the approximately 300 people present.

The migrants were moved to a new reception center in Lipa, set up in recent months near Bihac, just south of Velika Kladusa.

In reporting the news, regional media said that the operation had been conducted with the intervention of the local police and that no incidents had resulted.

The camp in question had sprung up in 2018 amid continual arrival of migrants along the so-called Balkan Route on their way towards Croatia and then western Europe.

The Lipa reception center was built with funding from the international community and can host up to 1,500 migrants with adequate conditions even in winter.

The local police estimate that fewer than 3,000 illegal migrants are currently in northwestern Bosnia-Herzegovina.
