Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/21/2021

Thousands of workers protesting Victoria’s vaccine mandate took to the streets of Melbourne for a second day, clashing violently with police. As I write this, a third day of protests is underway. Police officials said that Nazis and right-wing extremists had infiltrated the protesting union members in order to instigate violence.

In other news, a state media outlet in China described George Soros as a “global economic terrorist”.

IMF Report Suggests Credit Scores Could Soon be Based on Web Browsing History

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has published the results of research conducted into how lenders are likely to be doing their business in the future, and what new information and personal data these companies plan to start asking from borrowers in order to determine their credit score.

The biggest takeaway is the seemingly inevitable shift from merely accessing credit information to also incorporating people’s online behavior into the process of deciding whether to lend them money necessary, for example, to buy a house.

“Ig Nobel Prize Awards” Blocked on YouTube Over a Musical Track More Than 100 Years Old

Improbable Research, a scientific humor magazine whose slogan is that it presents research that makes people laugh and then think — has been finding out the hard way that YouTube’s broken copyright system sometimes has the effect of making those publishing on the platform “cry” — and then, hopefully, think about what exactly is going on, and why.

Namely, the magazine organizes the annual satirical Ig Nobel Prize Awards, with the ceremony this year taking place online (in the past, this was happening at Harvard University). But a recording of the ceremony, where the awards were presented by past Nobel Prize winners, is now being blocked by YouTube on copyright grounds, over the use of parts of the song “Funiculi, Funicula” sung by tenor John McCormack… in 1914.

‘10 for the Big Guy’: Politico Confirms Hunter Biden’s China, Ukraine Emails Are Legit

Several emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop have been confirmed as legitimate, according to Politico, citing claims in a new book, along with emails released by a Swedish government agency.

Ben Schreckinger’s “The Bidens: Inside the First Family’s Fifty-Year Rise to Power,”out today, finds evidence that some of the purported HUNTER BIDEN laptop material is genuine, including two emails at the center of last October’s controversy.

A person who had independent access to Hunter Biden’s emails confirmed he did receive a 2015 email from a Ukrainian businessman thanking him for the chance to meet Joe Biden. The same goes for a 2017 email in which a proposed equity breakdown of a venture with Chinese energy executives includes the line, “10 held by H for the big guy?” (This person recalled seeing both emails, but was not in a position to compare the leaked emails word-for-word to the originals.)

MORE: Emails released by a Swedish government agency also match emails in the leaked cache, and two people who corresponded with Hunter Biden confirmed emails from the cache were genuine. —Politico

Data Study: 18 Months of Ammo Sales During a Pandemic, Protests, And the Biden Presidency

In our previous data study on the initial effects of the pandenmic on our business, we outlined increased sales due to the public’s growing leeriness of COVID-19, starting from February 23, 2020 when the news coverage became ominous.

That’s only part of the story, however, because over the last 18 months, we’ve experienced a particularly charged election year, BLM protests amid calls to “defund the police,” a contentious transfer of power, and most recently a surprise ban on popular Russian ammo.

These events in particular, set against the backdrop of the ongoing response to the pandemic, resulted in demand spikes. Looking at the data below, you’ll get a sense of a high level trend during the pandemic and then see how that trend changed during certain specific time periods, like the BLM protests, when already-elevated demand went up even more.

Senator Blumenthal has been a staunch defender of Section 230 in the past.

However, the proposed bill seeks to repeal Section 230’s protections from online firearm marketplaces.

Workers Reinstall Wisconsin Statues Downed in 2020 Protest

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin workers reinstalled two statues Tuesday on the state Capitol grounds that protesters ripped down during a demonstration last year in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

Workers reinstalled a 9-foot-6-inch statue of Wisconsin abolitionist Col. Hans Christian Heg as well as a 7-foot statue of a woman symbolizing the state’s “Forward” motto. Neither statue has any racist history associated with them, but protesters said they represented a false narrative that Wisconsin supports Black people and racial equity.

Protesters toppled both statues in June 2020, breaking off Heg’s leg and head. The Forward statue was dented and one of its fingers broken off.

WTH is This? Tucker Carlson Reveals ‘Satanism’ Powerpoint Slide Presented to Army to Promote Vaccination

Host Tucker Carlson revealed a bizarre powerpoint slide Monday that was presented to U.S. Army service members in an effort to get them on board with mandatory COVID vaccinations. The slide sardonically asks “how many children have been sacrificed to Satan for the vaccine?” before claiming only three people have died from side effects, and then listing the ‘tenets of Satanism’ taken straight from the ‘temple of Satanism’ website.

The Army admitted that the slide was shown to service members, but claims that it wasn’t approved by leadership, according to Carlson, who labeled the military vaccine mandate a “takeover of the US military.”

Canadians Have Re-Elected a Liberal Minority Government

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has won enough seats in this 44th general election to form another minority government — with voters signalling Monday they trust the incumbent to lead Canada through the next phase of the pandemic fight by handing him a third mandate with a strong plurality.

After a 36-day campaign and a $600-million election, the final seat tally doesn’t look very different from the composition of the House of Commons when it was dissolved in early August — prompting even more questions about why a vote was called during a fourth wave of the pandemic in the first place.

As of 4 p.m. ET, Liberal candidates were leading or elected in 158 ridings, a pick up of just one seat compared with the 2019 contest.

Hungary: PM Orban: ‘Lies Beget Lies’

George Soros’ Open University just ended a two-day conference in Budapest, a clear indication that allegations of the persecution of the university by his government are patently false, Prime Minister Viktor Orban writes in an article on his homepage entitled Samizdat 13.

A collection of articles on topical issues and a platform for Orban’s policy ideas, the Samizdat series derives its name from a Russian neologism, which is an amalgamation of the words sam (self) and izdatelstvo (publishing), a term coined in the former Soviet Union for dissident writings multiplied in makeshift form and distributed clandestinely. Such publications are also well-known in the former Eastern European satellite states of the Soviet empire that lived with extreme censorship from communist authorities.

Below we reproduce integrally the original article in English, which is also available in Hungarian.

Italy: Climate Crisis: Time to Dump Coal Says Draghi

We must take action, not just set goals Italian premier says

“For example, we will need to strengthen our common efforts in accelerating the phasing out of unabated coal both at national and international level.

Poland Refuses to Shut Down Coal Plant Despite EU Fine of €500,000 a Day

The Polish government will not close the Turów lignite coal mine despite EU demands, according to government spokesman Piotr Muller, with the spokesman citing energy security as one of the key reasons Poland refuses to back down over the issue.

“Since the beginning, we have been of the opinion that suspending the operation of the Turów mine will threaten the stability of the Polish electricity-energy system,” Muller announced in an official statement.

The European Court of Justice, the EU’s top court, has obliged Poland to pay €500,000 per day to the European Commission due to failing to comply with the request to suspend the coalmine’s functioning. At the end of February 2021, Czechia filed a complaint to the European Court of Justice against Poland concerning the development of the Turów mine.

The minister also pointed out that currently 30 Slovak soldiers have Covid-19 infections while and only two Czech soldiers have the disease.

Google Faces Backlash After Censoring to Give Putin Election Advantage

Google is facing backlash for censoring on behalf of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. Not only have political leaders and human rights activists condemned the censorship, Google’s own employees are starting to push back too.

Google’s censorship, particularly the removal of a Smart Voting app that showed people how to strategically vote against Putin, is effectively on behalf of, and for the benefit of, Putin.

Russia Behind Litvinenko Murder, Rules European Rights Court

Litvinenko, a former Russian spy who became a British citizen, was fatally poisoned with radioactive polonium-210 in London in 2006.

A UK public inquiry conducted 10 years later concluded that the killing was “probably approved” by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russia has always denied any involvement in his murder.

Russia Election: Putin’s Party Wins Election Marred by Fraud Claims

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s party has won a parliamentary majority following an election marred by reports of fraud.

With almost all of the votes counted, the United Russia party had won nearly 50% of the vote, marking a slight drop in support from the previous election.

Mr Putin’s biggest critics were barred from running, and there were reports of ballot stuffing and forced voting.

Russia’s electoral commission rejected claims of widespread irregularities.

With more than 99% of votes counted, United Russia’s closest rival, the Communist Party, had about 19% of the vote, according to the election commission.

United Russia’s victory means it will have more than two-thirds of the 450 seats in the country’s parliament, officials say.

China: George Soros is a ‘Global Economist Terrorist’

One of China’s top state media outlets has branded progressive investor George Soros a “global economic terrorist” after Soros spoke out against a multi-billion-dollar investment in China by New York-based BlackRock, with Soros calling it a “tragic mistake” that would likely lose money for the investment firm’s clients.

The article from China, published by the Global Times earlier this month, accuses the billionaire speculator and ultra-liberal donor of providing large sums of cash to jailed newspaper owner Jimmy Lai to support Hong Kong’s anti-Beijing protests in 2019, and it comes amidst a tit-for-tat exchange between Soros and the Chinese government, Asia Times reported.

“F**k the Jab, Long Live Australia” — 20,000 Shut Down Melbourne Highway in Massive Lockdown Protest

Anti-lockdown protests have become more common in Australia since the latest round of “snap” lockdowns began two months ago.

Initially, those lockdowns were supposed to last a week. But months later, with tensions running high, millions of Australians are fed up with the government’s lockdowns and vaccine requirements.

And although Aussie health authorities have at the very least acknowledged that their “COVIDZero” approach isn’t actually feasible, frustrations among the Australian people are running high (perhaps intensified by the country’s latest diplomatic faux pas, which angered France and made PM Scott Morrison look like he stabbed President Macron in the back).

On Tuesday in Melbourne, authorities were forced to confront this blazing public anger as protesters executed an “extremely dangerous maneuver” by marching onto a busy freeway and blocking traffic in a tactic that some Americans might remember from last summer’s BLM protests inspired by the killing of George Floyd.

Thousands converged on the city for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, with shocking footage capturing dozens moving onto the West Gate Freeway into the path of cars. Traffic on the freeway, which is the busiest stretch of highway in Australia, was forced to a standstill in both directions as police tried to disperse the crowd.

Footage circulating on social media showed protesters tossing glass bottles and flares toward police, while some approached officers with their hands up, chanting “you serve us”. One was heard shouting “this is our bridge”.

Some 13% of the state’s active COVID-19 cases are linked to construction sites, according to local media…

Australian State Announces ‘Friends Bubble’ Allowing Those Under 18 to Gather With Two Other Friends in Person

How IT Expert Harrison McLean Helped to Plan Melbourne Freedom Rally

Australians were left stunned after Tuesday’s tradie rally in Melbourne turned violent, with protesters clashing with reporters and police in unbelievable scenes.

And an unlikely individual — 24-year-old science graduate, Covid denier and bitcoin enthusiast Harrison McLean — helped to plan the protest.

According to the Daily Mail, Mr McLean runs the Melbourne Freedom Rally Telegram channel which helped to organise anti-vax protesters who took to the streets against mandatory vaccinations for construction workers and the immediate shutdown of the industry.

While there is no suggestion Mr McLean encouraged any of the violence that took place, he has long been a vocal “freedom” advocate and has participated in a string of protests over the course of the Covid pandemic.

Who is Harrison McLean?

Born in 1996, Mr McLean graduated from Melbourne’s Monash University with a science degree, and went on the co-found WeYouMe, a decentralised social media blockchain protocol, in 2018.

According to his website, the former competitive cheerleader is a “libertarian activist, and vocal proponent of individual and economic freedom, through the application of technological and political decentralisation”.

It’s ‘Shocking’ New ABC Documentary Promotes Critical Race Theory in Schools

ACU Senior Research Fellow Dr Kevin Donnelly says it is “shocking” a new ABC documentary promotes critical race theory in schools.

The first part of the documentary called “The School That Tried to End Racism” included boys and girls as young as nine being grilled about race and privilege.

“Childhood should be about enjoying who you are,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“You should not have to go to school to be told that you’re racist, that you’re a white supremacist, that somehow you’re guilty of oppressing others.”

Melbourne Braces for Third Day of Protests as Police Chief Says ‘Tactics’ Will be Shuffled

Police are warning protesters to stay home as Melbourne braces for its third day of demonstrations over mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations and other restrictions for the construction industry.

Chaos has engulfed the city centre over the past two days as demonstrators, mostly men dressed in hi-vis workwear, took to the streets voicing their distrust in the vaccine and anger at the government.

The violent mob of almost 2000 brought the city and even the West Gate Bridge to a standstill on Tuesday, their actions causing police to fire rubber bullets and smoke rounds to keep them under control.

Police arrested 62 protesters, some for assaulting police, but most for breaching orders of the chief officer.

“I implore you to stay home,’ Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton said in a late night press conference on Tuesday.

Poland Fears Hundreds of Thousands of Migrants at Border After Belarus Activiates Visa-Free Movement

Belarus has just taken the dramatic step of allowing visa-free travel to countries such as Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and South Africa, which could results in potentially hundreds of thousands using Belarus as a transit country into the rest of Europe.

According to Polish Minister of the interior Mariusz Kaminski, the move by Belarus could mean the migrant crisis could go on for months. Although most migrants would likely use Poland only as a stepping stone to reach countries like Germany or the UK, Poland is now at the forefront of a struggle to secure the border on the Eastern flank of Europe.

“Last week Belarusian authorities decided to activate visa-free movement with countries such as Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and South Africa,” he said.

  1. Taliban followers who prepared terrorist attacks detained in Yekaterinburg

The Russian Sangachirov (who has Russian citizenship, but is not a native Russian) and the citizen of Tajikistan Musofirov convinced their acquaintances of the necessity of terrorist attacks against infidels. Members of the terrorist cell set up a headquarters on Sverdlov Street in Yekaterinburg. Followers of the radical movement created explosives weighing three kilograms, packaged it and left it for storage in different parts of the city.

It was not possible to carry out the attack. The FSB detained all five. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved.

    • The FSB will make them disappear, I only wish the FSB would do far more to remove these bloody savages.

  2. This is the lead article in UK Daily Mail. The graphic photos show in living color the verminous, illegal savages who are peacefully invading and conquering our once great country.

Needless to say you won’t see anything like this in the Enemedia/ MSM.

Another question- why won’t the governors of Texas and Arizona use their own police and national guard to seal off the borders of their states?

Tucker keeps asking the question and begging Greg Abbott to come on his show, but Abbott would rather go on Hannity where he can bloviate in between Sean’s endless BS.

I really don’t get it. The USA is no longer a country. As Michael Savage says, what happened to our borders, language and culture?

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10011617/Options-shrink-Haitian-migrants-straddling-Texas-border.html

    • ‘Another question- why won’t the governors of Texas and Arizona use their own police and national guard to seal off the borders of their states?‘

The states don’t have the authority to seal the border, the Federal government does.

      • Actually, Texas is trying to do just that.
However, there are limits on what they can do; any invading barbarians captured on the US side of the border have to be turned over DHS (Border Patrol or ICE) who promptly sign them up for assistance and release them.
