49 People Shot in 72 Hours as Wave of Gun Violence Continues in NYC
Forty-nine people were shot over the course of 72 hours in NYC between Thursday and Saturday, compared to eight shooting victims over the same time period last year, according to preliminary NYPD statistics sent to Gothamist Sunday morning.
Eight people were murdered—at least six by gun violence—compared to three homicides last year over those three days.
Those numbers do not yet reflect shootings on Sunday.

John Thompson, a Black man who was friends with Philando Castile, won the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) nomination for the 67a District (St. Paul) seat for the Minnesota State House on Tuesday. In a late-night ruling on Saturday, the California Court of Appeal set aside a lower court order that would have allowed indoor church services to take place at John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church in Sun Valley.
“The reason immediate relief was required is because tomorrow morning Grace Community Church and its pastor, John MacArthur, intends to go forward with such religious services,” the court wrote.

The California Court of Appeal today set aside a lower court order that would have allowed indoor services to take place at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley.
The Court of Appeal’s decision temporarily upholds the County’s Health Officer Orders prohibiting indoor worship services in order to protect congregants and the community as a whole from transmission of the highly contagious and potentially fatal COVID-19 virus.
A full hearing on the matter is scheduled for September 4.

Chicago Police Release Video Showing Moment They Say Sparked Violence During Protests
CHICAGO (CBS) — Demonstrators and police clashed violently in Chicago again Saturday night following protests downtown. Sunday morning the Chicago Police Department tweeted a video they say shows the moment that sparked the violence.

NASA’s newest planet-hunting space telescope — the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, aka TESS — has just completed its primary mission, the space agency announced on August 11, 2020. Its initial survey of the sky took two years. In this time, TESS helped revolutionize our knowledge about exoplanets, worlds orbiting distant stars, continuing on from where the Kepler space telescope, NASA’s first planet-hunter, left off.
TESS’ primary mission officially finished on July 4, 2020. After this, TESS will continue with its extended mission phase.

Grade School Requiring Children to Study ‘Book About Whiteness’
A grade school in a wealthy Pennsylvania school district is requiring children to study a book called “Not My Idea: A Book About Whiteness,” which claims “white people who relate to police officers or decline to watch the news are complicit in racism.”
The Washington Free Beacon reported Gladwyne Elementary in Lower Merion School District assigned the book for fourth and fifth graders.
The curriculum also assigns “A Kid’s Book About Racism” to kindergarten and first graders, the report said.
Some parents aren’t happy, and the Beacon reported Elana Fishbein, the mother of two boys, wrote to the district superintendent and board demanding the school halt its “cultural proficiency” curriculum.

I think that this headline is going to upset a lot of people, and it should. Lockdown Restrictions Are a Test to See How Much Tyranny Americans Will Accept
The pandemic lockdowns are a complicated issue, and that is absolutely deliberate. The point of 4th Generation psychological warfare is to present the target individual or population with a hard choice — a no-win scenario. You are damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Swedish Police Stop Attempted Quran Burning in No-Go Area
Swedish police have intervened in plans by a street artist to burn a copy of the Quran outside a mosque in Malmö’s notorious Rosengård no-go area.
Swedish street artist Dan Park was set to burn the Islamic holy book on the 28th, alongside Danish lawyer Rasmus Paludan, who has had a history of invoking protests, often violent, by travelling into Muslim areas to engage in similar stunts.
Swedish police have denied Park a permit to hold his meeting, with Park claiming that the cancellation came due to security reasons, Nyheter Idag reports.

Satmar Hasidic Group: Jewish Sect Avoiding Coronavirus Lockdown
An ultra-Orthodox Jewish group has been accused of exploiting a loophole in lockdown laws to run clandestine religious ceremonies in Ripponlea and St Kilda East.
People have been seen entering centres in the area up to three times a day carrying prayer shawls and other religious paraphernalia.
But a loophole means the Satmar Hasidic group — believed to be a breakaway sect of the Adass Israel group which helped accused paedophile principal Malka Leifer flee Australia — isn’t breaking any of the strict lockdown laws.
Port Phillip Inspector Nigel McGuire-White told the Leader police had been inundated with calls about members of the group attending centres in Ripponlea and St Kilda East laden with prayer shawls.
Insp McGuire-White said nearby residents, including members of the Jewish community, were furious the group was putting lives at risk by continuing to meet.
“Police have attended a number of properties in Ripponlea and St Kilda East in response to complaints from the community,” he said.

EU: Asylum Applications Tripled in One Month Despite Coronavirus
Asylum applications are once again rising in Europe, with the number of new applications in June being three times higher than the month before.
The EU’s European Asylum Support Office (EASO) said that it recorded 28,039 first-time asylum applications in June, three times as many as in May. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHR) noted the same trend, and said it recorded 10,517 crossings in the Mediterranean sea in July.

German NGO Caught Collaborating With Turkey to Bring Illegal Immigrants Into Greek Waters
A German NGO, in collaboration with Turkey’s Coastguard, has been caught attempting to bring in illegal immigrants into Greece’s maritime waters.

The 42-year-old was arrested after making a post on Facebook calling for action against migrants he accused of destroying islanders’ property. Along with demanding locals act, he added that the migrants were “WANTED: alive or dead.”
