Arizona Man Accused of Carrying Out ‘Lone Wolf’ Attack on Behalf of ISIS, Cops Say

An Arizona man who was shot by deputies earlier this month was carrying out a “lone wolf” attack, authorities said Thursday.

Ismail Hamed, 18, of Fountain Hills, brandished a knife during an incident with a Maricopa County sheriff’s sergeant Jan. 7 before he was shot, authorities said. He’s since been treated and released from the hospital.

Hamed allegedly told a dispatcher before the incident that he was affiliated with ISIS. He “intentionally or knowingly, did provide advice, assistance, direction or management” to ISIS, the Arizona Republic reported, citing a complaint filed the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Blue State Blues: Shutdowns Are Different When Republicans Fight Back

Pelosi’s shock must have been quite something to observe.

She is not used to being treated like this, you see. She apparently expected she could cancel (ahem, “postpone”) the State of the Union address due to the shutdown — and then disappear abroad.

Trump’s response — blocking Pelosi’s use of the aircraft — was gutsy. It was a “drain the swamp” moment.

But the timing was pure comedy gold. (Adam Schiff, stepping off the bus, looked like he’d seen a Russian.)

In a statement, Pelosi’s spokesman protested that the purpose of the trip had been “to affirm the United States’ ironclad commitment to the NATO alliance,” something the president had already done earlier that day.

Her real goal was to conduct an alternative foreign policy — as she did after being elected Speaker in 2007, when she paid a friendly visit to Syrian butcher Bashar al-Assad.

California Storms Killat Least 5 as Flooding Fears Rise

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Heavy rain, snow and wind pummeled much of California on Thursday, causing at least five deaths, leaving thousands without power and forcing wildfire victims threatened by floods to flee their homes.

Southern California authorities concerned with rising streams and excessive runoff ordered evacuations in parts of Malibu and other areas scarred by wildfires. Malibu schools canceled classes.

In harder hit Northern California, authorities warned of imminent floods and debris flows in the wildfire-ravished city of Paradise and the surrounding region denuded of protective trees and vegetation, telling residents to prepare to flee their homes on a moment’s notice.

“Flash flooding is a dangerous and life threating situation,” the Butte County sheriff’s department said. “Due to the dynamic nature of debris flow and flash flood events, residents should not wait for an evacuation order to take action.”

The California Highway Patrol reported four people were killed in two separate Northern California auto accidents caused by rain-slickened roads this week, including a family of three killed Tuesday in the Sierra Nevada foothill town of Placerville…

Families Fleeing New Jersey, Illinois, Connecticut, New York, Study Finds

What would compel you to move to a different state? A better job? Family? Lower taxes? Better weather? A new study conducted by United Van Lines reveals that those are the main reasons that prompted many Americans to pack up and move across state lines. The study also provides data about which states people are fleeing and to which states people are moving.

Unsurprisingly, New Jersey tops the list of states from which people are moving. According to the study, 66.8 percent of the moves in New Jersey were by people moving to a different state. Surprisingly, to me at least, Vermont is at the top of the other list. 72.6 percent of moves in Vermont are from people moving from another state.

NYC’s New Minimum Wage Law Forcing Restaurant Owners to Cut Workers’ Hours

Well, well, well. In a case of “we told you so,” liberals who work in the restaurant industry are finding that 2019 has brought them fewer hours at work. Sure, they now get that beloved $15 an hour (why just $15 an hour? Why not $20 or $25 or even $100 an hour?), but that new minimum wage law they love so much is forcing restaurant owners in New York City to cut hours as well as cut staff and raise menu prices. If only someone had warned them this would happen.

My snark aside (and out of my system), I don’t wish for people to lose hours or their job. But this consequence of raising the minimum wage was foreseen. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and I have friends who own restaurants. Profit margins are razor-thin, and restaurant owners are advised to be prepared to not pay themselves for at least the first two years.

BERLIN (Reuters) — A German court ruled on Wednesday that a suspected Islamist militant who was deported to Tunisia in July must not be returned to Germany, saying it no longer believed the man faced torture or human rights abuses in his native land.

Sami Aidoudi was deported in July, despite a court ruling hours before he left that said he should be allowed to stay. Another court demanded he be returned to Germany, saying he could be tortured in Tunisia.

In the latest ruling on Wednesday, a court said he should not be returned because he had not been “tortured or had his human rights mistreated since his deportation to Tunisia.

Leave campaigner Nigel Farage has warned that Brexit is “on the verge of being betrayed” and Leavers must be prepared to continue the fight either in the face of Article 50 being delayed or a possible second referendum.

Speaking to Sky News on Friday morning, the Brexit architect said that while 498 MPs had voted for Article 50, the mechanism for leaving the EU which states that if a withdrawal agreement is not negotiated, the and the United Kingdom should leave the bloc on World Trade Organization (WTO) terms on March 29th, he fears “that our political establishment, including our Prime Minister… [in] the House of Commons is going to effectively overturn that Brexit.”

How Long Have Dogs Been Helping us Hunt?

IN THE NEAR EAST, HUMANS may have domesticated dogs as many as 14,000 years ago, during the Epipaleolithic period. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, but it came at great cost to small prey including hare, according to a new study in the Journal of Anthropological Archaeology.

The study, by archaeologists from the University of Copenhagen and University College London, looks at animal bones found in a Neolithic settlement known as Shubayqa 6, established 11,500 years ago, in the Black Desert of northeast Jordan. The bones suggest that the site’s residents were using their dogs to help them hunt, a finding that can help clarify the murky origins of dog domestication. It hasn’t been clear, the researchers write in a release, whether that process was deliberate or accidental, but this new evidence of canine-assisted hunting implies that these Stone Age humans were highly dependent indeed on their dogs.

20 Dead, Dozens Injured After Pipeline Explosion in Mexico

MEXICO CITY — A huge fire exploded at a pipeline leaking fuel in central Mexico on Friday, killing at least 20 people and badly burning 60 others as locals collected the spilling gasoline in buckets, officials said.

The leak was caused by fuel thieves illegally tapping the pipeline in a small town in the state of Hidalgo, about 62 miles north of Mexico City, according to state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex.

Video footage showed dozens of residents near the town of Tlahuelilpan gathered to collect spilled fuel in buckets, garbage cans and other vessels. Fuel was seen spouting dozens of feet into the air from the tap. Footage then showed flames shooting high into the air against a night sky and the pipeline ablaze.

Hidalgo Gov. Omar Fayad said 20 people were killed immediately and 60 suffered burns in the blast at the duct that carries fuel —apparently gasoline — from the Gulf coast to the Mexico City area.

  1. “According to the latest official government statistics in Sweden, reported rapes have risen by 33% in the past ten years. Reported rapes of Swedish children rose by 13% in 2018.”

The traitor class simply must know that matter will come to a head at some point.

My guess is they will reflexively become more repressive in the short term until the pressure cooker blows.

    Fascinating times.

    • It is pathetic that witnesses would tell the police that she gave a nazi salute.
      No respect for elders.

  2. re: French police shoot fireman

I hope the protesters are able to overcome their fear of being shot after this.

In the videos, there appears to be a few ‘contract’ police. They are not clothed in the full uniforms or riot gear of the cop with ‘Police’ patch on his back.

This is a disturbing trend if they are not actual police.

It makes me think of the protests in Iran of a few years ago. The gov’t hired private ‘police’ to ride around on motor bikes and shoot protesters, which they did quite willingly. It is more difficult for the public to find and prosecute such men.
