“12 Rules for Life” Author Jordan B. Peterson is Fed Up With the Questionable Practices of Tech Giants When it Comes to Honoring the Idea of Free Speech.

The recent decision by crowdfunding platform Patreon to remove popular YouTuber Carl Benjamin, aka Sargon of Akkad, may have been a free-speech tipping point for the clinical psychologist. [Dr.] Peterson and fellow pundit Dave Rubin of YouTube “The Rubin Report” announced plans to build a “better alternative” for intellectuals and content creators.

“We’ve been engaged in lengthy series of email exchanges with all of the people in our network, and no one is happy at all with what’s been happening,” [Dr.] Peterson said a joint video released Sunday. “We’ve been determining what our options are. We looked at Subscribe Star, but it looks like PayPal decided to cut funding out from them.”

At issue is Patreon’s decision to kill the account of Mr. Benjamin in early December after its staff was made aware of a guest appearance on a small YouTube channel 10 months ago.

The social commentator took an epithet favored by his racist critics, used their definition for the sake of argument, and said they were acting like white versions of the word.

“I didn’t think that Patreon would go and say that their terms of service simply don’t matter, that they would just judge me on my brand, which has always been politically incorrect, and then now instead of some point instead of the last four years, decide to get rid of me,” Mr. Benjamin said Dec. 14. “There were so many different people affected by this over a vast swath of the political spectrum. It’s not just people who supported me who were bothered. It’s people who are generally interested in taking part in the political dialogue.”

[…]

“I think we should just make it very clear for everybody how significant what happened to Carl Benjamin, Sargon of Akkad, is,” Mr. Rubin said Sunday. “It doesn’t matter what you think of him or whether you agree or any of that stuff. The banning of him for doing something that was not on the Patreon platform, that wasn’t even done on his channel because of a word he said where he was using the word against the ‘alt-right’ or the neo-Nazis or whatever you want to call them, is a massive move of that line of what’s acceptable.”

Mr. Rubin also noted that Patreon’s decision is at odds with comments its CEO, Jack Conte, made while on his show.

The platform is supposed to only hold people accountable for “Manifest Observable Behavior,” on the platform.

“‘M.O.B.’ You can’t make that up. There’s a real beauty there,” Mr. Rubin deadpanned.

“I’ve been working on a system to allow authors and other people who engage publicly on intellectual issues to interact more effectively with their readers and viewers and listeners,” [Dr]. Peterson said.[…]

The “Transgressions of Other Conservatives”

by Diana West

I have been pleasantly surprised to watch American Betrayal unfold on Twtter as Brett MacDonald (@TweetBrettMac), now reading the book, transforms conventional underlining and note-taking into a lively Twitter feed.

Early on, however, he detected the atmospherics of “controversy” about the book, picked up a copy of The Rebuttal, and then discovered them (Horowitz) still to be raging.

How?

MacDonald began to recount the chain of “controversial” events — David Horowitz’s removal of a positive review of American Betrayal by Mark Tapson from the Frontpage website (fortunately saved here) …

Trump to UN: Climate Rules Written, But We’re Still Out

At COP 24, the UN climate conference in Katowice Poland, the United States played a leading role in “writing the rule book” for the Paris climate agreement, but also made clear its intention to exit the agreement as soon as possible.

The key issues were consistency and transparency. The U.S. led the effort to make emissions reporting consistent no matter which nation is reporting, and to make the process as open as possible. Follow the UN conference outcome at CFACT.org.

China continued to hold out for differentiated responsibilities, calling on developed nations to “pay their climate debt.” China asserts that it should be treated as a developing nation under the agreement and therefore given a pass on emissions reductions obligations, despite it being the world’s largest emitter. When listening to China we are always reminded of one of our favorite headlines from the parody site The Onion, “China Vows To Begin Aggressively Falsifying Air Pollution Numbers.”

Assistant Secretary of State Judith Garber made the official statement for the U.S. delegation which powerfully reiterated President Trump’s determination to withdraw. Read the full official U.S. statement at CFACT.org.As President Trump announced last year, the United States intends to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, absent the identification of terms that are more favorable to the American people…

The global climate conversation needs to embrace not only aspiration but today’s reality. The U.S. approach incorporates the realities of the global energy mix and uses all energy sources and technologies as cleanly and efficiently as possible, including fossils fuels, nuclear energy, and renewable energy…[…]

Welcome to a new era — the era of globalism. It’s an era in which borders are to come down, democracy will be openly frowned upon, and nationalism will be despised as evil.

But nationalism is not an evil; it is a desire for nation-state democracy. In other words, it is a desire for accountable governance.

Yellow Vest Riots Spread: Week Five

Paris has now seen its fifth weekend of street demonstrations by the so-called gilets jaunes, or “yellow vests,” although reports suggest that things may be finally winding down. Meanwhile, the protests — which in many instances rise to the level of riots, with innumerable examples of looting, vandalism, and arson — have spread. The last couple of weekends have seen disturbances in other major French cities, such as Toulouse, Bordeaux and Lyon, as well as in cities in the Low Countries, including Brussels, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Nijmegen and Maastricht. This weekend, in London, as the tension, confusion, and frustration surrounding Brexit have intensified and the possibility of a second referendum seemed to increase, yellow-vested protesters, most of them apparently supporters of Brexit, blocked major bridges and shut down streets in the city center.

Mass Media’s Russia Hysteria is Openly Acknowledging the Power of Propaganda

Authored by Caitlin Johnstone

“So now the question becomes: how did Russia know to target African American voters, and especially in certain key states,” asked popular #Resistance pundit Amy Siskind in response to a New York Times articleclaiming Russian social media trolls targeted Sanders supporters and Black voters during the 2016 election.

Well that’s a mighty good question there, Amy, and I think the answer is pretty obvious. Clearly Russia knew to target African American voters because Donald Trump called his boss Vladimir Putin and told him about America’s secret racial issues, which nobody in any foreign country could ever know about on their own. Then it was a simple matter of sending the trolls of St Petersburg’s Internet Research Agency to trick Black people into thinking that the American political system hasn’t been working for them, thereby ensuring the defeat of the rightful heir to the presidential throne, Hillary Rodham Clinton. It’s not disenfranchised voters’ fault that Hillary’s coronation failed to take place, it’s the fault of Russian memes on social media which confused their silly heads about who they wanted to vote for!

Or, alternate theory: everything about that question is immensely stupid.

For months proponents of the UN Migration Pact told us that the pact was non-binding. The response to the many citizens of nation states worldwide having signed country specific petitions was that it was non-binding so there was nothing to worry about, it was going to be good.

The immensely opposed and disastrous document declares unlimited migration to be treated as a human right, thereby deprecating the term ‘illegal migrants’, and criminalises any criticism of migration as hate speech.

The points that raised alarm for most was that it seeks to eliminate all forms of dissent. Media organisations for example, should they criticise anything to do with migration would lose access to state funding. People would be labelled as racists or guilty of hate speech which will now be criminalised. This pact will literally erase our borders.

The question I’ve been asking is if the countries that refused to sign, are they still bound to it being members of the UN. Most people were of the mind that it would only affect the signatories.

Now we know. In a frank exchange with Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr. Hebner of the AfD drew out an admission that it is, in fact, legally binding. As well, that it will be adopted as rule for all UN Member states once enacted.

Mr. Hebner asks: “You can see for yourself clearly that during the conference, the spokesperson for Morocco emphasised that the agreement was legally binding. He said clearly, in a literal sense, that there is a corresponding legal bond for all nations taking part as well as an obligation of implementation. You and your delegation did not raise a single word of objection to that statement but idly accepted it. I would like to emphasise that the parliamentary motion was not presented at the conference. “

Ms. Merkel’s response not only confirmed what we at Voice of Europe have been suspecting all along, the claim it is indeed binding, but that once voted and accepted it will be valid for all:

“So then, during the UN General Assembly next week, the pact will once again be up for debate and a decision will be made on whether to accept it. At this time, a member state can demand a vote. When two-thirds of the represented countries agree then it is valid for all. That’s how majority decision-making works.”

Psychiatrist Proposes Ban on ‘Hurtful’ Words Like Lazy, Boring, And Spoiled

A leading psychiatrist has identified six words people should not use, because they are “accompanied by feelings of moral judgment, hatred and utter rejection,” Business Insider revealed Monday.

In 1972, comedian George Carlin delivered a monologue titled “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” that rocketed him to celebrity, but the self-censorship proposed for the “six hurtful words you should stop using” have nothing to do with Carlin’s naughty list.

They are rather “harmful, negative labels to describe ourselves and others,” according to psychiatrist Grant Hilary Brenner, and they come from “toxic places.”

Victory for Free Speech in South Dakota

The South Dakota Board of Regents is adopting policies surrounding free speech and intellectual diversity following a year of pressure from conservative lawmakers.

The Board of Regents passed a policy encouraging freedom of expression on campus and “intellectual diversity in faculty,” referring to faculty’s political views.

The two also asked the Board of Regents why colleges cannot make “intellectual diversity hires,” as they currently make “diversity hires.”

“Freedom of expression includes the right to discuss and present scholarly opinions and conclusions on all matters both in and outside the classroom without Board or institutional discipline or restraint,” states a portion of the policy.

  1. modern helicopters use jet fuel. JP5 costs approx $5 per gallon. I don’t know the fuel consumption rate of a helicopter, but I am certain it is high. It would be enlightening to have someone knowledgeable perform a cost-benefit analysis of these rescues at sea.

  2. Now I understood the purpose for which the Russian government devastated my wallet: all the money was devoured by a propaganda machine that was brainwashing in the West.

I lead a small anti-muslim blog. The social network Vkontakte allows to conduct it anonymously. There is an activist in my group, and he publishes some material on his own behalf.
Yesterday he said that he was summoned to the internal affairs office to talk about the inadmissibility of anti-Islamic propaganda.
He promised to tell me the details.

  3. re: French police upset with cuts, strained resources:

So, if they are paid more overtime and given more personnel and weaponry, will they begin to beat and terrorize the people with greater zeal and more glee?

The French and their constant focus on working conditions……

    • I believe just before he died, Pope John Paul II said that the spirit of the anti-Christ has already entered the sanctuary.

  4. It’s good that at least some grooming gangs are being sentenced for what they did, but let’s be honest, the only thing they deserve is to have the same done to them, for years on end, I’m sure there are some [redacted] out there who would volunteer. (Sorry if this comment is outside the guidelines, I have a hard time containing my anger when it comes to harming children.)

    • Where is John Wick when you need him?

I don’t think we are too far off from the day when a healthy underground private marketplace will develop, where one can hire professionals to administer justice of the physical variety to those whom the organs of the state refuse to punish, or punish in a half-hearted matter. The state has a monopoly on violence for good reason, but when they refuse to use this monopoly to administer justice and instead use it to protect the criminal rapists from the law-abiding, the time is not far off when vigilante justice will be welcomed by many.

    • The New Yorker is part of the vast left-wing conspiracy. You can see the conclusion of that essay in its subtitle:

The corruption and cruelty of the state’s response to suspected jihadis and their families seem likely to lead to the resurgence of the terror group.

    • Here’s the point of the New Yorker essay: its subtitle

The corruption and cruelty of the state’s response to suspected jihadis and their families seem likely to lead to the resurgence of the terror group.

Go further into the essay and you get the usual vast left-wing conspiracy theories. Since the Lemming Left holds the keys to the major MSM outlets, what you encounter is their dogma in all its forms. We have our own Pravda, but it is far larger than Russia’s. The center of their world view remains, “America bad” – as it has been since the 1960s.

      • Yes, if we hadn’t been so hard on Hitler in the ’30s, as Churchill urged, he’d have remained an absolute lamb…

        • Churchill was jammed between a rock and a hard place by FDR and Stalin. The effects were awful, particularly for Britain, and continue to be felt all these years later. America may yet hollow out from the long-term Stalin/FDR alliance. The USSR received all that largesse from the U.S., while Britain had to pay back every single farthing, which along with adopting socialism, impoverished the UK.

I was going to put up the UK version of her definitive, important book, but it has a total of SIX reviews there. Sad that Britain has no idea how it suffered at the hands of FDR and Stalin.

This phrase is read by women.

The women of the judgment did not ignore this chance and made the gateway. Now they are preparing the law of the Magazine against the background of the accumulation of the religious community in the section 166 of the Corner Code (StGB). How is it possible? Trump’s Islamophobia influenced investors, arousing their desire to invest money in the filming of the film “JINN,” a humanizing portrait of black Muslims, wrote on indiewire.com. When Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the US presidency in the summer of 2015, director and screenwriter Nijla Mumin began filming his debut work in full-length format – the film “JINN” about black women and their Muslim identity. Mumin stipulates that the American president did not inspire her at all. However, the election of Trump and his further racist, sexist and anti-Muslim rhetoric, unwittingly helped bring to life.
