GOP-Controlled Senate Breaks With Trump on Saudi Vote

The GOP-controlled Senate on Wednesday dealt a significant blow to President Trump by voting to advance a resolution ending U.S. support for the Saudi war in Yemen in the aftermath of Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi’s slaying.

Senators agreed to begin debate on the measure despite only 11 of the chamber’s 51 Republicans joining with all Democrats to support it. The legislation would require Trump to withdraw any troops in or “affecting” Yemen within 30 days; the president has threatened to veto the bill if it reaches his desk.

New App Posing Huge Threat to Twitter Sees Thousands Looking for Free Speech Haven to Sign up Almost Overnight

Twitter users seem to be fed up with the consistent threat of being suspended or worse for stepping out of line against the wrong person while the right people get a complete pass. Migrations have already begun to various platforms, but it would appear one is standing out.

According to the Daily Caller, an App called “Parler News” has seen a surge in users in such a short amount of time, the majority of them looking for free speech alternatives to the oppressive Twitter trust and safety nightmare:

While the platform itself has existed for three months, buzz about the app on Twitter earlier this week prompted thousands of conservatives to download the previously little-known app overnight. These new users include figures like Turning Point USA Communications Director Candace Owens, whose Twitter account was suspended and then reinstated in August after she sent out tweets meant to showcase the anti-white racism of New York Times editorial board member Sarah Jeong, and conservative activist Laura Loomer, who late last month chained herself to Twitter’s front door to protest her own permanent ban from the site.

Continuing growth throughout the week has bumped the app to the seventh most popular news app in the iOS App Store, ahead of The New York Times, Google News, ABC, CNBC, NPR, and The Wall Street Journal apps. Android users can find Parler in the Google Play Store as well. Those who prefer a web-based desktop version can expect one soon, says Matze.

This less than good news for Twitter, whom many thought was too big to fail. According to Parler News CEO John Matze, however, Twitter’s hubris will be its downfall.

“Alternative platforms will rise and those who are bold will switch,” said Matze in a post. “Big tech is not too big to topple, in fact, they are blinded by their size/power and are hurting themselves by ideologically targeting groups.”

Many names have already made their way there, including TPUSA’s Candace Owens, the NRA, Paul Joseph Watson, and Laura Loomer.

Whether the migration trend will continue to make Twitter shake in its boots is yet to be seen. Parler is still not as integrated into the very internet like Twitter is, and it’s not a household name. However, Twitter is only pushing more and more people off its platform, and Parler is going to catch them. Perhaps it will happen enough to the point where Twitter starts to get worried.

The Administrative State May be Facing an Effective Death Sentence

One of the great tragedies inflicted upon this nation by its first Socialist president, Franklin Roosevelt, was the creation of the apparatus of the administrative state. Under his administration, executive agencies were not only allowed to decide how to enforce laws passed by the Congress, they actually got into the lawmaking business via the creation of a web of federal regulations that governs most facets of our lives. This graph shows the explosion of federal regulations since the Federal Register was first published in 1938.

Shortly the Supreme Court will hear a case called Kisor v. Wilkie which may bring this travesty to an end. This synopsis from Wikipedia shows how the administrative state works:

James Kisor is a veteran Marine from the Vietnam War, and had been a participant in Operation Harvest Moon. In 1982, stating that he had developed posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from his service, Kisor sought disability benefits from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). On review, the VA disagreed he has PTSD, and denied him disability benefits. Kisor appealed that decision in 2006, this time with additional documentation that was not available in 1982, including his service record. The VA granted benefits with this information, but with a start date of 2006 rather than 1982. …[…]

[…]

Why did the VA act this way? Well, because they knew they could. And because they had no institutional interest in paying Mr. Kisor back-benefits for the nearly quarter century that he’d been requesting them. And, because, we can probably be sure that by this time Kisor had became a boil on the collective derriere of a lot of VA officials and they had decided “[to heck with] this guy, we make the rules.”

There are major federal rules created by the rule-making process and there are internal agency rules on how to implement rules they have created.

This leads to an interesting process in which agencies create rules, rules that can deprive you of liberty and property, without any public input and the courts are required to let agencies interpret those rules as the damned well please so long as they don’t go against the actual text of a rule.

The fact that the Supreme Court is probably going to rule in Kisor’s favor and overturn two precedents, Auer and Seminole Rock, has caused a lot of concern among the cheerleaders of the regulatory state.

If Kisor prevails, the process of agencies writing regulations regulating regulations will be dead. In order to administer regulations, agencies will have to engage in the rule-making process which will discourage a lot of nonsense. Then the fight can focus on making federal regulations no more deserving of deference than federal law.

Trump Hosts Annual White House Chanukah Party; Joined by Holocaust Survivors & Parkland Shooting Victim’s Dad

The White House hosted two Chanukah parties on Thursday. The annual celebration was delayed one day due to the funeral of the late President George H.W. Bush. on Wednesday.

The first party began at around 4:00PM. President and First Lady Trump, Vice President and Second Lady Pence were joined on stage by a group of 8 Holocaust survivors from Brooklyn, New York. They were accompanied by Assemblyman Dov Hikind, and thanked the president for deporting Nazi guard Jakiw Palij from the United States.

Trump noted the survivors had each endured “evil beyond description”.

The president also referenced the fatal October shooting of 11 Jews at a Pittsburgh synagogue. He says in the aftermath of that “sinister” killing, “we reaffirmed our solemn duty to confront anti-Semitism everywhere. Trump added that we “must stamp out this vile hatred from the world.”[…]

France: A Revolt Against Europe’s Elites?

For years, those of us who write and worry about the rise of Islam in Western Europe have known that eventually, if the governments of these countries did not change course dramatically, something had to give. So far, the natives had, for the most part, been remarkably tame. They had swallowed a lot. Their leaders had filled their countries with huge numbers of immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa, a disproportionate number of whom were making it clear that they had no intention of fully joining or contributing to their host societies but, rather, were content to take, to harm, to damage, and to destroy, and were determined, in the long run, to conquer and rule.

    • Nah, they were too busy monitoring the every move of Marine Le Pen, intimidating students, and beating down gilet jaunes on the Champs de Elysee to keep an eye on just one of thousands of islamist thugs.

    • The entire tribunal consisted of radical Islamists. Just in case the creature experience any discomfort. Too risky to find him guilty of anything. I can’t wsit for Mr Grump to be at 90%.

    • If it is meant as a distraction it is a very poor one. Such a distraction just draws attention to the flooding of France by muslim invaders, their criminality and bestial nature, and the incompetence of the authorities who supposedly had this scum on their radar, along with several thousand other potential islamic terrorists waiting for the right moment to slaughter infidels for allah.

    • I do not believe it either. Reports say he used a revolver( six bullets?)and killed 3 and injured many others. How can one accomplish this? Not even a trained special forces person could reach that body count without a semiautomatic or full auto.Questions remain.

  5. One of the reasons I am a devout Christian is because of the biblical strategy against murder. Part of it is found in Joel 2. There God practices with some death events in the air and on the ground. This is done to show just how knowing God is when people are being killed. This activity against murder is a central part of the remaining prophecies in the bible. It is obviously very supportive of murder victims. This support for murder victims helps makes the bible prophecies relevant and respectable. This biblical strategy is very ominous against any murderer who is on the run and thinks he or she will get away with it.
