EU on Brink: Eurozone Faces Repeat of 2011 Meltdown and This is Why

THE European Union faces a repeat of the 2011 eurozone crisis, thanks to the looming EU trade war with the US and new government in Italy, with current conditions nearly mirroring the events leading up to the financial meltdown, a leading economist has warned.

The bloc focused on immigration and Brexit at the most recent EU summit, but Europe’s real threat stands somewhere else, according to Lorenzo Codogno, macroeconomist and former general director at the Treasury Department of the Italian Ministry of Economy.

Mr Codogno said the eurozone is facing three factors similar to those that triggered a sharp acceleration of the government bond crisis in Europe during the summer of 2011, causing the European debt crisis.

“Girl From the Bronx” Ocasio-Cortez Called Out in Fact Check; Actually Grew Up in Wealthy Enclave

The Democratic Party’s rising socialist icon — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has been on an intense media junket since her upset primary victory over establishment Democrat Joe Crowley this week — doing her darnedest to project her “girl from the Bronx” working-class image.

“Well, you know, the president is from Queens, and with all due respect — half of my district is from Queens — I don’t think he knows how to deal with a girl from the Bronx,” Ocasio-Cortez told Stephen Colbert during an appearance on The Late Show.

The socialist phenom also told the Washington Post “I wasn’t born to a wealthy or powerful family — mother from Puerto Rico, dad from the South Bronx. I was born in a place where your Zip code determines your destiny.”

Except Ocasio-Cortez isn’t quite the blue-collar champion she’s branding herself as. Breitbart’s Josh Caplan is out with a “fact check” on the Democratic Socialist’s background — only to find she grew up in one of the richest counties in the United States.

33 Yr-Old California Man Arrested for Threatening Lives of FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai’s Kids: “I Will Find and Kill Your Children”

Today, the Daily Caller is reporting that Federal authorities have reportedly arrested a man who threatened Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai and his children.

Scott MacFarlane, an investigative reporter for NBC 4, tweeted on Friday that a man was arrested after sending an email to Pai threatening to find and kill his children. The email included the addresses of preschools in Arlington, Virginia, where Pai lives.

According to a Department of Justice press release, the man was “angry” that Pai repealed net neutrality and wanted to “scare” him. One email from the 33-year-old California man included a framed photograph of Pai’s family.

In 2008 the United States elected a socialist government committed to the transformation of the American free-enterprise system into an egalitarian society. And with it, Barack Obama brought to the White House what Harvard historian James T. Kloppenberg described as “A refreshing new way of thinking about the role of democracy.”

The aftermath of his new role of democracy resulted in an immense transfer of power away from the democratically elected representatives of Congress to the executive branch, thereby increasing its authority above and beyond constitutional limits. This power shift produced an extraordinary imbalance between power and legitimacy. Power founded on principles was replaced by the principles founded on power.

The President and his party were “fundamentally transforming” the country in pursuit of an eminently ideological objective — a form of socialism intrinsic to the United States.

It’s not an accident that the Council on Foreign Relations, which is directly connected to Bilderberg group, openly presented a full-on Orwellian media presentation in which Richard Stengel, former Time managing editor and Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in the Obama Administration, at a university forum organized by the CFR, openly promoted the idea that governments need to direct propaganda at their own domestic populations.

“Basically, every country creates their own narrative story,” Stengel said. “My old job at the State Department was what people used to joke [call] the chief propagandist job. I’m not against propaganda, every country does it and they have to do it to their own population and I don’t necessarily think it’s that awful.”

It’s not that the CFR and governments have not been directing propaganda toward their people since the founding of the CFR. It’s simply that a major leader from within the CFR has never so openly and boldly promoted a right to propaganda…

Chaos Operations Are Being Used for Ideological Subversion of the United States

Others pull from the cultural Marxist tactics of the Frankfurt School, which introduced subversive concepts such as “critical theory” that redefines history through the lens of Marxism, and that has become the basis of many radical social movements.

Some tactics are also operated on a nation-state level. Russia is among the better known to do this, but Iran and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are also extremely active on this front.

The CCP’s People’s Liberation Army, for example, has its “Three Warfares” doctrine, based on the strategies of psychological warfare (to alter how information is perceived), media warfare (to control media narratives), and legal warfare (to manipulate international legal systems). Two Chinese colonels published the book “Unrestricted Warfare,” which outlines a system of war without morals, and which uses many nonmilitary tactics, including “culture warfare,” “drug warfare,” “economic aid warfare,” and others.

Door to Door Gun Confiscation: No Longer Law Enforcement, Now Agents of the State

Don’t Let it Get This Far America

Recently, I had seen a video of a police officer talking of the unlawful and unconstitutional actions of a city board in Deerfield, Illinois who is attempting to legitimize gun forfeiture and/or confiscation. Of course, it comes in the guise of law, has the color of law, yet it is not law.

Why?

Because it runs antithetical to American constitutional law, which is undermining the very laws in which they are to uphold and to enforce, which in short makes it “null and void!”…

This police officer went on to tell the American people that his partners in the police force were not, and will not, go door to door to enforce a violation of the 2nd Amendment.

Americans must remember that they have God-given rights (to do that which is right 2 Corinthians 3:17), not privileges from the people that work for them. After all, free people don’t ask for permission to do what already belongs to them.

He continued to share that if they were to enforce this unlawful and unconstitutional order to go door to door that they are no longer law enforcement agencies, but rather have become agents of the state…

Americans must come to the realization that either you lawfully remove corrupt anti-American politicians, or you will, at length, be disarmed.

Good Riddance to Justice Anthony Kennedy

For once, the leftist freakout could be justified. Kennedy was the Court’s big swing vote because his conception of freedom aligned nicely with social liberalism’s narrow view of the human person. As Rusty Reno writes, “When it comes to engraving the sexual revolution into our basic law, Justice Kennedy has provided the key votes, and often the rationales.” It was this mistaken view that led him to vote with the liberal bloc of the Court and legalize same-sex marriage across the country. It also provided a bulwark against any challenge to Roe v. Wade should one have risen through the judicial system.

Kennedy’s vision was infamously summed up in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, a 1992 case that reinforced the right to abortion. Writing in the joint majority opinion, Kennedy fully embraced the relativistic view that freedom is anything one decides it should be, regardless of external truths. “At the heart of liberty is the right to define one’s own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life,” he waxed.

That passage, which is lauded by many libertarian legal scholars, sums up the ultra negative view of freedom. By its lights, a person is only truly free if they are treated like a blank slate, without history or connection to anything larger than their own subjective assumptions. Atavistic allegiance to concepts like family and religion may not infringe upon this sacred autonomy.

How to Survive the Civil Unrest That’s Coming to America

The rhetoric in the United States is heating up and we’re sounding anything but… well… united.

It seems to most media pundits like we are too far down the path to Civil War 2.0 to turn back now. Activists are laying siege to government offices. Threats toward people who disagree are growing in ferocity. It’s ugly and getting uglier. It’s a powder keg that is about to erupt. It is only a matter of time before civil unrest begins to escalate and spread throughout the country. Many people are wondering, how do you keep your family safe during widespread unrest? It’s not about being fearful. It’s about being prepared.

Right-Wing Activists Patriot Prayer, Antifa Clash at Portland Protests

PORTLAND, Ore. — Two opposing protest groups — Patriot Prayer and antifa — clashed in downtown Portland Saturday, CBS Portland affiliate KOIN reports. Portland police said failure to leave the area could leave to arrests, calling the demonstration a riot.

More than 100 members of Patriot Prayer group gathered at Terry Schrunk Plaza for a “freedom rally,” while more than 100 counter protesters with an antifa group gathered across the street at Chapman Square for rallies before a march. Police revoked Patriot Prayer’s permit for the rally after the two groups began to clash.

Senate Votes to Legalize Hemp After 80 Years of Prohibition

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate approved a bill to legalize hemp, an industrial crop that has been banned for decades.

In April, Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Rand Paul (R-KY), Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) submitted a separate bill to legalize hemp, and those provisions were then incorporated into the broader farm bill. The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry approved that version before the upper house of Congress voted to approve it this week by a margin of 86-11. The bill would legalize the cultivation, processing, and sale of hemp.

Tech Worker Dissent is Going Viral

Silicon Valley has a long and secretive history of building hardware and software for the military and law enforcement. In contrast, a recent wave of employee protests against some of those government contracts has been short, fast, and surprisingly public — tearing through corporate campuses, mailing lists, and message boards inside some of the world’s most powerful companies.

The revolt is part of a growing political awakening among some tech employees about the uses of the products they build. What began as concern inside Google about a Pentagon contract to tap the company’s artificial-intelligence smarts was catalyzed by outrage over Trump administration immigration policies. Now, it seems to be spreading quickly.

Within a few days in late June, employees from Microsoft, Amazon, and Salesforce publicized petitions urging their CEOs to cancel or rethink lucrative contracts with US Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and local police departments.

The Destructive Internet Sales Tax and Those Who Promoted it

What a pity we don’t have more justices on the Supreme Court today like we did with founding father Chief Justice Marshall. He was the last chief justice who was born a British subject prior to the American Revolutionary War. He was right…the power to tax is the power to destroy. Oh, is it ever! America’s taxes are out of control!

The recent high court decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc., which overturns an earlier Supreme Court precedent, will boost state revenues at the expense of consumers and sellers who have avoided sales taxes in the past. But the justices did not specify what types of exceptions states may impose to limit the burden on small businesses.

The Scotus Vote

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the 5-4 decision, discarding the court’s longstanding rule that states cannot require companies without a physical presence in their state to collect sales taxes. He was joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch.

Thousands of Small Internet Businesses Could be Forced to Close

On Thursday, June 21st, 2018, the U. S. Supreme Court delivered what could be a knockout blow to tens of thousands of small on-line sole proprietor retailers in America. The implications of this ruling could have far reaching consequences.

The High Court overturned their own 1992 decision in Quill vs. North Dakota that allowed on-line retailers to be exempt from state sales taxes as long as they did not have a physical presence in a particular state. Under the current decision, that exemption has been removed. Now, all on-line retailers, big and small, are subject to state taxes for sales within any state in America that levies state sales taxes.

It is not clear from the decision, at this point, that there are any sales threshold amounts that would exempt small on-line retail businesses from state sales taxes, with one exception. South Dakota, after the High Court ruling, did pass legislation that would exempt any business doing less than $100,000 in annual sales from the state sales taxes. Will other states follow? No one knows, leaving tens of thousands of small, sole proprietor businesses in a legal jeopardy. It’s bad enough having to deal with one state and their sales taxes. But to deal with 44 other states is tantamount to administrative purgatory.

If you are running your own on-line retail business and are forced to deal with at least 44 states that have state sales taxes, the time necessary to fill out each state form and write a check and mail to each state would literally overwhelm a sole proprietor. Larger companies will be forced to hire one or more administrative personnel to manage the forms and taxes for each state.

Also, it is not just a matter of filling out a tax form and mailing in a check. The sales and business and occupation (B & O) tax regulations for the state of Washington are so voluminous as to make compliance almost impossible for a small business. Here is an example:…

Armed guards, metal detectors, apps and screens offering live time information. These are just some of the measures that authorities in Pompeii plan to introduce to increase security at one of Italy’s favourite sites.

More than 3.5 million tourists visited the archeological sites of Pompeii in 2017. The fascination with the Roman city destroyed by an eruption from Mt. Vesuvius in AD79 continues to fascinate visitors to southern Italy.

But the increasing numbers of tourists, coupled with contemporary security needs, means sightseers will soon have to contend with a plethora of new security measures.

Chances of No Deal Brexit Now 50-50, Says Official After EU Leaders Reject Brexit Progress

The chances of no deal Brexit have increased to nearly 50 percent an EU official said after Brussels concluded no substantial progress had been made on Brexit talks at the EU summit on Friday.

An EU prime minister sitting around the summit table said he was alarmed by the tone of Theresa May’s words on Brexit, an official he briefed on the discussion told Bloomberg.

Food: In Romania, Poland and Bulgaria Lowest Prices in EU

But Gdp per capita still much under EU levels

(ANSA) — BELGRADE — In 2017, Romania, Poland and Bulgaria registered the lowest food and non-alcoholic beverages price levels in the European Union, according to Eurostat estimates.

Eurostat said that price levels ranged from 62% of the EU average in Romania, 65% in Poland and 73% in Bulgaria. Level of food prices lower than the EU average were registered also in Hungary and Lithuania (82%), Czech Republic (86%), Slovakia (91%), Estonia (94%), Latvia (95%) and Croatia (96%). Bulgaria (56% of the EU average), ahead of Romania (69%) and Hungary (70%) registered also the lowest price levels for alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Restaurants and hotels are also the cheapest in Bulgaria (45% of EU average), Romania (53%) and the Czech Republic (60%).

Health: In Serbia, Lithuania Highest Increases of Costs

Strong growth of ‘medical inflation’ also in Serbia

(ANSA) — BELGRADE — Serbia, Lithuania and Romania are the three European countries that registered the highest growth in medical service costs in 2017, according to the study ‘Medical Trends Around the World’ of Mercer Marsh Benefits, local media in Romania reported.

In 2017, Serbia recorded a ‘medical inflation’ of 17.5%, followed by Lithuania with 16.7%. Romania ranked third for the increase of medical cost, with 15%. The average increase in Europe registered in 2017 was 7.6%, according to Mercer Marsh Benefits. A strong growth in medical costs, well above the estimated inflation rate, was registered also in Bulgaria (+13%), Poland (+10.1%), Hungary (+10%) and Latvia (+8.9%). The study forecasts an increase of medical costs in these countries also in 2018.

The medical inflation in Romania was caused the higher investments in private medical infrastructure, technology development and higher salaries in the public sector, said Silvia Dumitrescu of Mercer Marsh Benefits Romania, as quoted by Romania Insider.

He said this would bolster the “principles of autonomy, impartiality and non-partisanship of the judiciary”.

Koran Should be Read at Prince Charles’ Coronation Says Top Bishop

Critics attack proposal and accuse Church of England of ‘losing confidence’ in its own traditions

Prince Charles’s coronation service should be opened with a reading from the Koran, a senior Church of England bishop said yesterday.

The gesture would be a ‘creative act of accommodation’ to make Muslims feel ‘embraced’ by the nation, Lord Harries of Pentregarth said.

But critics attacked the idea, accusing the Church of ‘losing confidence’ in its own institutions and traditions.

Lord Harries, a former Bishop of Oxford and a leading CofE liberal thinker, said he was sure Charles’s coronation would give scope to leaders of non-Christian religions to give their blessing to the new King.

The former Bishop of Oxford, who continues to serve as an assistant bishop in the diocese of Southwark, made the suggestion about the Koran during a House of Lords debate. He told peers the Church of England should take the lead in ‘exercising its historic position in a hospitable way’.

He said that at a civic service in Bristol Cathedral last year authorities had agreed to a reading of the opening passage of the Koran before the beginning of the Christian ritual. He said: ‘It was a brilliant creative act of accommodation that made the Muslim high sheriff feel, as she said, warmly embraced but did not alienate the core congregation.

Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is being investigated for money laundering and influence peddling as prosecutors accuse him of having received 2.25 million reais ($1.04 million at the current rate).

The European Intervention Initiative: A New Military Force Established in Europe

The predictions have come true about the emergence of a new defense group that will change the European security environment.

On June 25, the defense chiefs from nine EU countries signed off on the creation of a new force called the European Intervention Initiative (EII), which is spearheaded by French President Emmanuel Macron. The new organization will have a common budget and a doctrine establishing its guidelines for acting and joint planning for contingencies in which NATO may not get involved. The group includes the UK, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Estonia, Spain, and Portugal. Italy may join soon. The initiative is not tied to the EU’s Common European Defense, which includes the PESCO agreement as well as NATO. Great Britain has always opposed the idea of creating a European defense alliance, fearing it would undermine transatlantic unity. UK: Magistrate, 67, Who Defended His Family Against an Armed Gang Arrested and Accused of Racially Aggravated Assault

A magistrate defending his family against an armed gang who stormed his home ended up being arrested himself — and accused of a racially aggravated assault.

Police detained Nigel Stringer for three hours and he remains under investigation while the gang — believed to have been armed with a gun, knives, metal bars and a crossbow — were allowed to leave.

The 67-year-old, who has been a magistrate for 26 years, is now standing down to pursue a private prosecution against the men.

His wife Cindy, 55, says she lives in constant fear following the terrifying events of January 14.

Mr Stringer says justice ‘runs in my blood’, with his grandfather and parents having careers in policing.

But he said: ‘They would all turn in their graves to know that modern political correctness caused my son and I to be taken from our home for defending our family.

‘In detaining us the police left my wife and daughters unprotected with some of the gang still in and around our garden.’

He said: ‘I had no strength left, I only had my voice and I tried to find the most shocking words to shout, thinking that if they came through that hedge we could be killed. There was nobody there to save us, we were alone.

‘Using their own words, I shouted ‘and if you n*****s come into my garden I will f***ing hit you with this’. I merely flung their own words back at them. I am not racist.’

Why Britain’s Deradicalization Programs Are Failing

Greeks Start Protesting After Migrants Sexually Assault Six Young Boys on the Island of Chios

On June 20th, a group of children was playing football in a field next to the refugee camp of Chalkios when suddenly a group of migrants appeared and stopped the game.

Some of the migrants started touching the boys who resisted and screamed for help. Their screams were heard by residents living in nearby homes.

Libya Navy Bemoans Lack of EU Support Over Migrants

On Immigration, Trump Should Beware the Power of the Pen

There has been years of neglect on the issue of immigration from Democrats, including at a time when they controlled the White House and the House and had a 60-vote majority in the Senate. Now, we are seeing a concerted effort by Democrats, along with help from their friends in the media, to drum up a frenzy on immigration and lay the blame squarely at the feet of President Trump. The hope of the left seems to be that the public pressure begins to weigh so heavily that President Trump decides to handle the issue through executive order.

It is clear that Democrats are pushing this issue as a last-ditch effort to save what once looked to be a promising midterm election cycle. But there may be another ulterior motive for pushing immigration, and for pressuring President Trump to use the power of the pen.

According to a new CBS news poll, 63 percent of Americans in competitive congressional districts think those crossing illegally should be immediately deported or arrested. This is undoubtedly contrary to the views expressed by the Democratic Party.

Resist the LGBT Propaganda Agenda

It’s the summer of 2018 and many children are at home enjoying a school break. It’s a good time for family gatherings and family discussions. Summer will eventually come to a close, and moms and dads across America will have to send their children back to school in the fall.

Many parents of faith know that their children are being taught non-Judeo-Christian values in the school systems, namely that homosexuality and heterosexuality are both equal and perfectly normal. But many parents and grandparents and other guardians of today’s children don’t know how to protect their children from the poisonous doctrines of sexual immorality and homosexuality that they are receiving in the public schools.

  1. I thought that Charles was to have been bypassed as Queen Elizabeth had designated William as Crown Prince. Explanation please?

    • Yeah. Explanation please….

      I vaguely recall a whisper of that in passing, but nothing substantial. Seems like such would make a lot of people happy.

      Alternatively, it would seem Charles could immediately resign after “accepting” the crown, thereby establishing the right to be king but achieving the same end.

      • Charles resign?? I don’t think he can or would. No man who has spent his entire life – up to and including his old age – preparing for his ascent to the throne would willingly surrender his lifelong goal.

    • Sadly not, acuara. The Queen made it very clear, quite recently, that she expects Charles to succeed. Many Brits, not just republicans like myself, find this difficult to understand, as she presumably wants the Monarchy to survive, but Charles’ widespread unpopularity makes this less likely (at the least, it would encourage borderline republican Commonwealth nations such as Australia to leave); I guess she believes in following the “correct” succession over all other considerations.

      Having said which, the Queen is 92, and her mother lived to be 101; who knows what the state of Britain will be in around twenty years? -it may all be irrelevant by then.

      • It would be unthinkable to deny Charles his rightful inheritance short of a civil war. True the guy is a bit of a flake but on several occasions England had total nutcakes on the throne and it survived those too.

        Copyrighter (below), I doubt whether a “flake” would be tolerated now- oddly, perhaps, because it’s now more important for the monarch to be apolitical.

    500 asylum seekers are causing panic in South Korea – the government promises to stop the inflow.

    After a name collection for expelling the Yemenites has collected half a million signatures, the government has promised to amend the asylum law, which provides the opportunity to appeal an expulsion decision in court. It is also promised to eradicate potential terrorists and criminals!

    Many have expressed concern that the group should bring about an Islamization of South Korea and expose the population to violent crimes.

    The migrants are being held in an asylum center on the island of Jeju, which allows foreigners to stay for 30 days without a visa.

    By 2018, a total of 430 Yemenites have applied for asylum in South Korea. The over 500 current culture enrichters have arrived between January and May.

    The predominantly homogeneous South Korea has granted 893 people asylum since 1994.

          You’ve nailed the problem in your first paragraph.

          By international law, these Yemenis are required to apply for asylum in the first safe country they reach.

          I’m not fully informed, but I’m pretty sure that Malaysia is stable right now. It is also full of their co-believers. You’d think they would be more comfortable in such a society than South Korea.

          If SK can’t eject these immivaders, they should put them in a camp indefinitely and feed them just enough Samgyeopsal to keep them alive.

  3. These bishops are so desperate to find people to share their beliefs with they’ll ring in other religions. Perhaps if they spent more time encouraging Christians and Christianity and less time promoting Islam they’d have more people in their churches.
    You don’t see McDonalds doing outreach to Burger King or offering to sell KFC in their stores.

    • Actually, they’re preaching a form of Christianity, but one that doesn’t make a lot of sense in the light of other principles such as the principle of self defense. Example:

      Just this morning in my apartment I smacked an ailing spider with a body about an inch and a quarter long and a half inch wide, scooped it up and put it in a jar for the pest control people. I’m not anti-spider — sick or well they can sit around all they want outside, but I’d rather not live with them.

      • Easy to trap them in a glass and toss them outside. Why kill when you can be kind?

        • Easy, maybe, if they are within reach and not moving and you are able-bodied, which I am not.

          And, if you aren’t careful about the force you use when setting “a glass” anywhere you will have broken glass, which can have sharp cutting edges. I already have enough scars from that.

    • McDonalds isn’t doing fast food outreach but Carl’s Junior has adopted some of the fare from Green Burrito and my nearby KFC offers burgers from the A&W menu. Blended fast food joints have been happening for well over ten years now.

      This is not to defend bishops blending Christianity with Islam, just to point out the simile is not apt. In fact Catholicism from the West Indies and South America has been blended with voodoo and other belief systems. Anything to fill the pews I guess.

      Most likely it will be a Mecca verse, amongst the first suras chronologically when forming the koran, in its illogical order.

      Then the abrogation verses should also be quoted.

      That abrogation effects need to be fully and openly discussed and debated by all, in church, in mosques, in synagogues, media, newspapers, television etc.. !
      The over riding of the Mecca verses by the Medina verses needs to be more widely known!

      Would some compere, commentator on radio or tv, dare to bring out the abrogation verses of what an imam would most likely quote at a coronation?
      It needs to be exposed as muslims one way or the other must be forced to know about this, and then own it!, just as Mohammad did, which is shown by the many supporting hadith and sira.

        Indeed it does simpleton1! Very few Westerners understand the Koranic doctrine of abrogation: they read of the nice Meccan verses (trotted out by Western propagandists for Islam and Islamic taqiyya artists) and think “Aww, shucks that’s nice. Islam is okay.”

        For many, many, years I have been trying to explain the doctrine of abrogation to fair-minded people.

        And now you have provided me with the actual verses. Or three of them. I have copied and pasted them into a Word doc for future reference and use.

  6. After Prince Harry’s ‘marriage’ to Meghan Markle, Prince Charles converting to Islam doesn’t seem highly implausible.

    • My only hope in that regard is prince Charles doing the reasonable thing and leaving the throne to William. I’m considering his behaviour in the recent years as pointing in that direction, plus William’s much more popular than him. As for Harry I doubt anything he’d do would surprise anyone anymore and he doesn’t need to care about his image either, as the second born he pretty much won’t have any responsibilities and does have a good life ensured, in his place I wouldn’t care much about anything either (granted he did seem to grow up somewhat after being on a foreign mission with the army).

      • One of the best predictors (in many cases, but not all by any means) of a stable marriage is the intact family of at least one of the couple. Neither husband nor wife, in this case, brings such a history to the table. Family of origin dynamics really do make a difference in the long term.

        Further, looking at Meghan’s life up until she met Harry gives one pause. You have only to examine the particulars of her first divorce to wonder if Harry will prosper once their deep love becomes the inevitably routinized married love. Anyway, I feel sorry for him, situated as he is, i.e., the second son who can never have a career with real meaning. In days of old, such men went off to new lands to carve out a life for themselves. He doesn’t have that choice, poor fellow.

          Mark is considered a qualified expert on geneaology – I first ran across references to him in an Atlantic essay. So maybe you and I are 12th cousins once removed to Queen Elisabeth? I or II, doesn’t matter.
