Gates of Vienna News Feed 4/2/2018

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed an agreement with the United Nations refugee agency to resettle more than 16,000 African migrants from Israel to Canada, Germany, and Italy. However, hours after agreeing to the deal, Mr. Netanyahu rescinded it. The deal would have compelled Israel to give an equal number of migrants permanent residence.

In other news, the Greek coast guard rescued dozens of migrants off the coast of the island of Samos after the refugees’ vessel encountered rough seas.

Baltimore Man Funded by ISIS Gets 20 Years

BALTIMORE — It was July 2015 when the FBI, scrambling to contain a surge in Islamic State propaganda, first visited an Egyptian-American newspaper deliveryman in Maryland.

Black Students Occupy Building, Demand Campus Police Disarm

Howard University students entered their fourth day of a protest Monday in which they occupied an administrative building and demanded campus police disarm.

The Washington, D.C., students initiated the protest March 29 after the school fired employee Tyrone Hankerson, Jr., who allegedly stole $429,000 in financial aid money. But not all of the demands directly align with resource allocation transparency.

“We demand the immediate disarming of campus police officers and the formation of a Police Oversight Committee controlled by students, faculty, staff, and off-campus community representatives,” The Concerned Students of HU Resist wrote in a letter that has been shared over 2,500 times on Twitter.

Is This the Beginning of the End of Facebook?

Facebook can’t seem to shake off one major blow before another comes along. The past few weeks have seen the social media giant shaken, rattled, and exposed for the way the company handles users’ data and conducts business. Now, with the market responding to that news with investors dumping stocks, both users and investors launching lawsuits, governments calling for regulation and hefty fines, and users abandoning the platform, Facebook may be in very real danger of going the way of the dodo.

Teens Prefer Snorting Condoms to Eating Tide Pods

Teenagers have moved on to snorting condoms rather than eating tide pods, according to a Fox News Monday report.

Just when you thought it could not get worse, teenagers decided to amp up the “Tide Pod Challenge” by trying out the “Condom Challenge:” sticking a condom up their nostrils, inhaling it then pulling it out from their throats, Fox News reported. This bizarre challenge is nothing new; the earliest recording of a person snorting a condom was back in 2007. However, the challenge went viral on social media in 2018.

The Demands of Antifa and the Original Fascists Have a Lot in Common

A ghastly phantom has descended upon America: the specter of anti-capitalism. Young people march behind the socialist bandwagon and some activists block free speech as members of a group called “Antifa”.

This “anti-fascist” movement engages in militant protests and does not shrink from using violence. As a part of the extreme left, the members of the “antifa-movement” are self-proclaimed “anti-capitalists” and declared “enemies of the right”. They call themselves “anti-fascist”, when, in fact, more than any other ideology, fascism characterizes their own movement.

Yet what is fascism and what is the content of this ideology?

Israel is Suspending a Deal to Resettle 16,000 African Migrants in Western Countries — Hours After Signing it

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that he would be suspending an already-signed agreement reached to resettle thousands of African refugees to Western countries.

Netanyahu’s office put out a statement earlier on Monday, announcing it had reached a 5-year agreement with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to move 16,250 migrants and refugees to Western countries, which included Canada, Germany, and Italy. In exchange, Israel would give “temporary residence” to an equal number of migrants in Israel.

Germany’s embassy in Israel told Israeli-daily Haaretz that they had not received a request by the UN or the Israeli government and Italy’s foreign ministry issued a similar statement to a national newspaper.

And hours after announcing the deal, Netanyahu took to Facebook to announce he was was “suspending the implementation of the agreement.”

Netanyahu added that would “reexamine” the agreement with “representatives” from neighborhoods in south Tel Aviv, which is home to many migrants and asylum seekers, frustrating the local Israeli population.

Reports indicate that the UNHCR plan angered Netanyahu’s coalition partners, which led the prime minister to suspend the deal…

Netanyahu: 16,250 Migrants to Resettle in ‘Developed Countries’

Thousands of African migrants in Israel will be resettled in “developed” Western countries under a new agreement reached with the UN refugee agency, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday.”This agreement will allow for the departure from Israel of 16,250 migrants to developed countries like Canada or Germany or Italy,” Netanyahu said, without elaborating.

He made the announcement in televised remarks after the government said it had scrapped a controversial plan to deport African migrants and replaced it with a new one that would see thousands sent to Western countries.

Netanyahu said the earlier plan to deport migrants to Rwanda and Uganda was no longer feasible.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, Netanyahu stressed that “legal constraints as well as political difficulties on the part of [Uganda and Rwanda]” led to the cancellation of previous deportation policies.

Under the agreement, which Netanyahu said was “the best possible,” the asylum seekers who remain in Israel will be dispersed in areas across the country outside of south Tel Aviv, where a majority of them currently reside. Netanyahu vowed to prioritize rehabilitating the neighborhoods of south Tel Aviv, alongside implementing the international agreement.

He said that his policies over the years, including the construction of a fence along the Egyptian border, had prevented an outcome in which close to a million migrants would inundate Israel and “endanger its Jewish and democratic nature.”

According to the agreement, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will work to find homes in Western countries for at least 16,250 of the asylum seekers in Israel, while Israel will agree to give temporary status to the remainder — estimated at around 18,000. The status of this latter group will be reevaluated after five years….

  1. Funny news from Turkmenistan

The Turkmen customs stopped passing light hair colors and means for melioration and discoloration, correspondents of the “Chronicle of Turkmenistan” reported.

Also import of materials for eyelashes and nails extensions is forbidden.

This provoked a 50% rise in the price of still available in the country products for women.

In addition, since April, from the shelves of stores intend to eliminate the remnants of clarifying agents for hair, gels for nails and other similar products.

Recall that, starting in March, women who work in state institutions and organizations of the capital have been banned from painting and nails, eyelashes, discoloration of hair and gold jewelry.

Sounds like Trump and Netanyahu have a lot in common.

    • What gives the UN and Israel the right to form an agreement to dump third world parasites in my country?

  5. People may be familiar with the hard love ” gag laws ” introduced by the right, but here is the left competing in its own subtrefugal manner, very orwellian in approach :

    https://politica.elpais.com/politica/2018/04/03/actualidad/1522769049_750606.html

The new law they are proposing is to ” remove ( internet) content which goes against the constitutional right to freely communicate or receive true information by any means of communication ”

Now if that is not a ministry of truth, I don’t know…and it is all wrapped up in human rights talk etc… along with having the means to identify “offenders”.

It looks like the politicians have found a shared page, all we have to do is listen to get it right .

    Right ?
