Gates of Vienna News Feed 1/5/2018

On a visit to France, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told French President Emmanuel “Toy Boy” Macron that he was tired of waiting for approval for Turkish entry into the EU. Mr. Macron was conciliatory, and proposed a partnership between Turkey and Europe that would keep Turkey aligned with the EU in the future.

Al Gore: ‘Bitter Cold’ Is ‘Exactly What We Should Expect From the Climate Crisis’

Predictions of less snow and less severe winters were hammered into the public by global warming scientists. But once that predictions failed to come true, the opposite of what they predicted instead became — what they expected.

Reality Check: But scientists are not buying the claims of Gore and Mann and others linking the record cold and snow to “global warming.”

‘Insanity…It’s Witchcraft’ — Meteorologist Joe Bastardi on claims that cold & snow caused by ‘global warming’ — WeatherBell Meteorologist Joe Bastardi on January 4, 2018: “This is flat out insanity and deception now To tell the public that events that have occurred countless times before with no climate change attribution, is now just that, is not science, its witchcraft. NO PROOF AT ALL. Its climate ambulance chasing, nothing more.”

Bastardi added: “This has happened countless times before and it wasn’t global warming then and is not now. Solid use of past patterns predicted major early cold from OCTOBER! I have tweeted that dozens of times showing the analog years I used, No co2 then.”

Climatologist Dr. Roger Pielke Sr. also weighed in, explaining: “For those who claim USA/Canada nor’easter is stronger because of ‘global warming’, they apparently do not realize that it’s so strong because of especially strong horizontal temperature gradient in troposphere. It ‘bombed’ because of usually cold air!”

CNN’s ‘Situation Room’ Spends Over 20 Minutes Insinuating Trump is Mentally Ill

On Thursday, CNN’s The Situation Room spent over 20 minutes during its two-hour airtime peddling accusations by Democrats, a far-left Yale psychologist, and the hot takes of CNN partisans like Brian Stelter that President Trump was mentally ill and thus should be removed from office.

This topic has long been on CNN’s periphery, but this time it came on a flagship program following other discussions on at least three other CNN programs (CNN Newsroom with John Berman and Poppy Harlow, CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin, and The Lead with Jake Tapper).

After deducting commercials, more than one-fourth (25.5 percent) of the airtime of CNN’s Situation Room on Thursday was devoted to Trump’s mental health (roughly 20 minutes and 50 seconds out of a total of nearly 82 minutes of actual news coverage).

[Comment: …and CNN and their ilk wonder why public is calling them “fake news”.]

FBI Chief FOIA Officer: “Every Single Memo Comey Leaked Was Classified”

As James Comey trots around the country on his book-selling tour, tweeting bible quotes and nature scenes, a less serene series of events is playing out in Washington D.C. which suggests the former FBI Director may be in trouble over the memos he leaked to Columbia law professor Daniel Richman, allegedly detailing conversations between Comey and President Trump.

While Richman told CNN “No memo was given to me that was marked ‘classified,’ and James Comey told Congressional investigators he tried to “write it in such a way that I don’t include anything that would trigger a classification,” it appears the FBI’s chief FOIA officer disagrees.

While we previously reported that Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said four of the 7 Comey memos he reviewed were “marked classified” at the “Secret” or “Confidential” level — tonight we find out that every single Comey memo was classified at the time, per Judicial Watch director of investigations Chris Farrell — who has a signed declaration from the FBI’s chief FOIA officer to that effect:

“We have a sworn declaration from David Hardy who is the chief FOIA officer of the FBI that we obtained just in the last few days, and in that sworn declaration, Mr. Hardy says that all of Comey’s memos — all of them, were classified at the time they were written, and they remain classified.” —Chris Farrell, Judicial Watch

Therefore, Farrell points out, Comey mishandled national defense information when he “knowingly and willfully” leaked them to his friend at Columbia University.

Geraldo: “Low Down Dirty, Absolutely False” To Claim Trump Has Mental Health Issues

Having spent time with Donald Trump both before and after he became president, Geraldo Rivera told Fox and Friends that it was “low down dirty” and “absolutely false” to claim that Trump has mental health issues.

The left has been on a crusade to declare Trump mentally unfit to hold office for months, pointing to his tweets and little else as evidence, in the vain hope that the the 25th Amendment could be invoked to remove him from office.

Yesterday it was revealed that, “Over a dozen lawmakers met with a Yale psychiatry professor for two days to meet and confer over President Trump’s mental fitness.”

Dr. Brandy X. Lee told Congressional Democrats and one Republican that Trump was “falling apart under stress,” a strange claim to make now given that his approval rating is on the rise and he has begun to have legislative victories. Lee cited Trump’s infamous (and now 6 month old) WWE CNN tweet as proof that the Commander in Chief is “being drawn to violent videos”.

Gerald Rivera vehemently countered the notion that Trump is mentally unstable during an appearance on Fox and Friends earlier, asserting that Trump is as cogent as ever.

“That infuriates me, because I have known this man for 40 years,” Rivera shot back, explaining how he saw an MSNBC commentator assert with scientific and medical certainty that Trump has intellectually deteriorated since he entered the Oval Office.

“Not only have I known him for four decades, I was on the last episode of Celebrity Apprentice with him every single day,” said Rivera, adding that he also spent an hour conversing with Trump flying back from Puerto Rico on Air Force One.

“It is a slander, it is low down and dirty, it’s absolutely false — this man is as lucid and as intelligent and as intellectually as he has ever been,” said the Fox News contributor.

Meryl Streep, Who Covered up for Harvey Weinstein and Once Called Him God, is Now Attacking the Trump Family for Being “Silent” on Sexual Assault

In the most stunning example of hypocrisy seen in some time, Hollywood liberal Meryl Streep is now attacking both Melania and Ivanka Trump for being “ silent” on the issue of sexual assault.

Yes, you read that right. The women who worked with Harvey Weinstein for 20 years and even once called him “ god” is now attacking the Trump family for not publicly discussing allegations against Donald Trump when Streep herself literally ignored Weinstein’ s disgusting behavior for over a decade while winning numerous Oscars for her work with him.

Streep made the pathetic comments in a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times in which she discussed her new movie before being asked about her initial silence after the Weinstein allegations were revealed.

Mystery Explosion in Mirabel Injures 3

Several neighbours say they witnessed one person running naked from the scene

An explosion early Friday morning rocked a residential neighborhood in Mirabel, Que., where several residents awoke to see someone ablaze and running naked through the street.

Two men in their early twenties were rushed to hospital with serious burns following the explosion. A third person, a woman, was also injured, but is not in critical condition, police said.

Witnesses reported hearing an explosion around 4 a.m. and then seeing three people running from a single-family home on Saint-Michel Street.

One neighbour, a nurse named Isabelle Pilon, said she took them into her home to wait for emergency services.

“They were in shock, they weren’t talking,” Pilon said. “They were pacing in my place. They were awake and conscious.”

Local police have not yet been able to establish the cause of the explosion, and have asked provincial police for assistance.

French President to Censor the Media by Making Certain News Illegal

French President Emmanuel Macron says he will push a new law aimed at cracking down on alternative media and news that isn’ t liberal. He invoked the term “ fake news” saying he hopes to have the law in place by the end of the year.

Oh, the irony of guys like Macron thinking censorship is “ freedom.” Speaking at a news conference at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Wednesday, Macron said such a law was essential, especially during elections. Sure. We can’ t be having people pointing out that Macron is communist. That’ s not good for reelection chances. He even says it’ s to protect “ liberal democracies” as if this is some sort of page out of a novel about a dystopian society.

“ The freedom of the press is not a special freedom, it is the highest expression of freedom,” Macron said. “ If we want to protect liberal democracies, we have to be strong and have clear rules.” He added that “ A law will follow in due course.” No law has ever given anyone freedom, rather by their very nature, take it away and list a punishment, so the illogical rant flowing from his mouth is more than enough for most rational humans to roll their eyes at.

[Comment: More proof Macron is a globalist puppet. Use censorship and the false label of “fake news” to prevent French citizens from obtaining real news.]

‘Muhammed’ Is Third Most Popular Baby Name in Austria in 2017

Europe’s growing Muslim population is revealing itself in surprising ways, with “Muhammed” coming in third place in most popular male baby names in Austria for 2017.

The Austrian daily Kronen Zeitung announced the statistics on 2017 male baby names Friday, with “Muhammed” moving up into third place, just behind the traditional boys’ names of “Alexander” and “Maximilian.”

For statistical purposes, the different spellings of the same name were grouped together, so Muhamed, Muhammet, Mohamad, Muhammad and Muhammad were all considered the same name, as were Elias, Elijah and Eliyas.

The “Meltdown” Story: How a Researcher Discovered the “Worst” Flaw in Intel History

Daniel Gruss didn’t sleep much the night he hacked his own computer and exposed a flaw in most of the chips made in the past two decades by hardware giant Intel, something we discussed in “Why The Implications Of The Intel “Bug” Are Staggering.” And as Reuters describes in fascinating detail, the 31-year-old information security researcher and post-doctoral fellow at Austria’s Graz Technical University had just breached the inner sanctum of his computer’s CPU and stolen secrets from it.

Until that moment, Gruss and colleagues Moritz Lipp and Michael Schwarz had thought such an attack on the processor’s ‘kernel’ memory, which is meant to be inaccessible to users, was only theoretically possible.

“When I saw my private website addresses from Firefox being dumped by the tool I wrote, I was really shocked,” Gruss told Reuters in an email interview, describing how he had unlocked personal data that should be secured. Gruss, Lipp and Schwarz, working from their homes on a weekend in early December, messaged each other furiously to verify the result.

“We sat for hours in disbelief until we eliminated any possibility that this result was wrong,” said Gruss, whose mind kept racing even after powering down his computer, so he barely caught a wink of sleep.

Gruss and his colleagues had just confirmed the existence of what he regards as “one of the worst CPU bugs ever found”.

The flaw, now named Meltdown, was revealed on Wednesday and affects most processors manufactured by Intel since 1995.

Separately, a second defect called Spectre has been found that also exposes core memory in most computers and mobile devices running on chips made by Intel, Advanced Micro Devices and ARM Holdings, a unit of Japan’s Softbank.

Both would enable a hacker to access secret passwords or photos from desktops, laptops, cloud servers or smartphones. It’s not known whether criminals have been able to carry out such attacks as neither Meltdown nor Spectre leave any traces in log files.

[Comment: Possible this was a hardware backdoor, not a flaw…only called a flaw once it was discovered.]

Caroline Glick: Trump Kicks the Palestinian Habit

It was probably a coincidence that US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley hailed the Iranian anti-regime protesters and threatened to end US financial support for UNRWA — the UN Palestinian refugee agency — and the Palestinian Authority more generally in the same briefing. But they are integrally linked.

It is no coincidence that Hamas is escalating its rocket attacks on Israel as the Iranian regime confronts the most significant domestic challenge it has ever faced.

As IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot said this week, Iranian assistance to Hamas is steadily rising. Last August, Hamas acknowledged that Iran is its greatest military and financial backer. In 2017, Iran transferred $70 million to the terrorist group.

Eisenkot said that in 2018, Iran intends to transfer $100m. to Hamas.

If Iran is Hamas’s greatest state sponsor, UNRWA is its partner. UNRWA is headquartered in Gaza. It is the UN’s single largest agency. It has more than 11,500 employees in Gaza alone. UNRWA’s annual budget is in excess of $1.2 billion. Several hundred million each year is spent in Gaza.

The US is UNRWA’s largest funder. In 2016, it transferred more than $368m. to UNRWA.

For the past decade, the Center for Near East Policy Research has copiously documented how UNRWA in Gaza is not an independent actor. Rather it is an integral part of Hamas’s regime in Gaza…

Trump Believes Palestinians Are Spreading Falsehoods, White House Says

WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump lashed out at the Palestinian Authority on Tuesday in response to what he views as attacks on his administration by its leadership, a senior White House official said.

The president in a Twitter storm threatened to cut aid to the Palestinians if they refuse to reenter serious peace talks with Israel. PA officials have dismissed Trump as an honest broker after he recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital last month.

“The president is a master deal-maker and is as committed to trying to achieve the ultimate peace deal as ever but he will not tolerate falsehoods being spread about America and our positions—and he certainly will not spend taxpayer dollars to subsidize those who spread them,” the official told The Jerusalem Post. “In the meantime, we remain hard at work on our comprehensive peace plan which will benefit both Israelis and Palestinians and will be unveiled when it is ready and the time is right.”

Turkey’s Erdogan Says He is Tired of Waiting for EU Approval

PARIS (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday he is “seriously tired” of waiting for the European Union to decide if it wants his country as a member.

Erdogan, who was in Paris for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron as part of efforts to improve his government’s strained relationship with Europe, said Turkey won’t wait forever.

“Unfortunately, we did the first steps in 1963, and it’s now been 54 years that Turkey has been waiting in the antechamber of the EU,” Erdogan said during a joint news conference with Macron. “We have been seriously tired, my nation, too.”

Adding that frustration might tempt Turkey to turn its back to Europe, Erdogan said, “One cannot permanently implore and wait to be finally included.”

Ties between Turkey and Europe deteriorated last year after authorities in several countries prevented Turkish government ministers from holding political rallies to court expatriates’ votes in a referendum to expand the president’s powers.

Erdogan unleashed a series of insults at NATO allies, accusing European officials of racism, harboring terrorists and behaving like Nazis.

Macron acknowledged that Turkey’s EU accession talks remained stalled. He said the relationship between Europe and Turkey needed to be rethought with the goal of creating a partnership that would ensure Turkey’s “future will be built looking toward Europe and with Europe…

Ukraine’s Future Nazi Leader?

Today’s Ukraine is painfully reminiscent of Germany in the 1920s: poor governance on the heels of a lost war, which — added to the sense of betrayed hopes and the sharp decline in average incomes coupled with rising prices — is all driving a critical mass of the Ukrainian population toward an overwhelming feeling of desperation. A demand from the public for a “strong hand” — a new, authoritarian ruler — is rapidly coalescing, due to their dissatisfaction with President Poroshenko and all the other jokers they’ve been dealt from that shabby deck of political cards.

Germany: Mourners, Pro-Diversity Activists Clash at Vigil of Child Murdered by Asylum Seeker

Mourners and a pro-diversity group rioted in the town of Kandel this week during a vigil dedicated to a 15-year-old girl who was stabbed to death by an Afghan asylum seeker.

Approximately 400 mourners met at the grocery shop where the 15-year-old was stabbed to death and engaged in a silent march through the town centre. Another 30 pro-diversity activists held a vigil at the scene of the murder and when the groups met violence erupted, Die Welt reports.

Police spokesman Thomas Sommerrock said the pro-diversity group wanted to show their support for a “colourful Germany” and held up multicoloured umbrellas during their vigil.

“It was a very emotional mood. The silent marchers found it out of place to demonstrate in the current situation for this purpose,” he added.

Texas County Threatened With Lawsuit for Concealing Noncitizen Voter Records

Bexar County one of the most populous in the country

A Texas county accused of concealing records of noncitizens registered to vote has been threatened with a lawsuit by a public interest law firm attempting to gain access to the information.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), a group that litigates to protect election integrity, sent a notice to the Bexar County election administrator in Texas warning the county could face a federal lawsuit if they continue to deny access to records that the group had requested dealing with noncitizens on its voter rolls. Bexar County, which includes the city of San Antonio, is one of the most populous counties in the United States.

PILF says that the county declined the initial request they had issued following the discovery or admittance of noncitizens that were removed from their voter rolls in mid-December. Attorneys for the election administrator in Bexar County told the group they would be denied access to the records if they were to show up at county offices, according to the group.

“It is our hope that the County will work quickly to provide for inspection the [sic] all of the records previously requested. If not, according to federal law, a lawsuit under the NVRA may be filed within 90 days after the failure to permit inspection or failure to provide the documents. 52 U.S.C. § 20510(b),” the notice reads.

Video: Liberal Student Makes the Case for Killing Two-Year-Old Kids as Pro-Choice Extremism Exposed

A December encounter between Students for Life’s Appalachian Regional Coordinator Brenna Lewis and a pro-choice liberal student at the University of Knoxville, Tennessee is going viral after a video of the discussion showed the student advocating for killing two-year-old kids.

The unnamed student openly makes his case for infanticide for children up to two years old during an unhinged rant that clearly shows that at least some on the pro-choice left are hardcore extremists who most Americans would never support if they actually knew what they stood for.

“Without communication, we have no way of knowing if you’re sentient or not,” claimed the student. “It’s no different than this tree. It’s alive. But is it sentient?”

“Can the two year old talk to me?” he continued. “Generally speaking, the child still has the inability to communicate.”

The president of Students for Life of America noted that this shocking belief system actually represents mainstream opinion within the pro-choice movement…

As a post on the Students for Life of America website also noted, “This is hardly the first time pro-choice activists have sought to justify infanticide. We know, for example, that Princeton professor Peter Singer has long championed killing babies born with disabilities, and has also justified killing babies up to two years of age. He said, for example, “Human babies are not born self-aware, or capable of grasping that they exist over time. They are not persons.”

One has to wonder how long it will take for Americans across the country to actually realize how extreme some on the left have gone in their abortion beliefs?

For if this example doesn’t change minds, nothing will.

17 thoughts on “Gates of Vienna News Feed 1/5/2018

  1. Apparently more than two (and possibly a dozen or more) young men jointly engaged in a criminal enterprise is not to be called a ‘gang’. A ‘gang’, it would appear, seems to have a constitution. That’s how they play with language in the State of Victoria, so we can’t say we have a problem with gangs, let alone with gangs dominated by a particular ethnicity.

  2. Of course Erdogan is tired of waiting.
He is a leader of “the best of peoples raised up for mankind”.
Macron, like Merkel and May, is “filth….. unclean…. the vilest of beasts”.

  3. Muhammed is a “popular” name?
Really? Has there been an opinion poll of Austrians?
Muhammed is the most frequent in Austria for male births.
That is not the same as being the most popular.

  4. Over sixty million dead, aborted, babies…just in the USA… proves that Western civilization is committing suicide and the ladies are generally delighted!

    • It’s not just the West. Women world-wide are aborting babies. They don’t do so in Africa because they don’t have the means.

  5. If the pro-choice crowd was honest they would advocate for killing of children until the age of majority.

    • I think that a Roman paterfamilias (i.e., father) had that right even into adulthood. The ultimate “pro-choice” position.

This sarcastic aside, I’m actually “pro-choice” and “pro-life” at the same time. Here’s where it comes from: I don’t feel that it’s right to impose on a woman that she has no control over something that is inside her body. Thus, while I feel that abortion is generally wrong and should be avoided in most circumstances, I don’t see it as something that should be punishable “in this world”. I feel similarly about suicide, wanting to cut off your own foot, or whatever else. I’m thus also very supportive of efforts by the “pro-life” to convince mothers not to abort, by offering support to would-be mothers in finding other options. Those types of efforts seem like the ultimate “no lose” scenario. And yes, to me, that includes picketing abortion clinics to offer alternatives – so long as there is no legal of physical coercion involved, I think that it’s a great approach to saving lives.

I can find a parallel situation in an identical twin who would deny his twin a bone marrow transplant, absent some compelling reasons. I’d see the person as a real bastard, but not as something that should be punishable “in this world”, though it would directly lead to the death of another human being.

Interestingly, my views on abortion result in just about *everyone* getting annoyed at me, from all sides of the issue.

      • That’s an empathetic and humane comment, Mike; I would only diasgree about the picketing of abortion clinics, which can cause pointless distress to women who have already made their decision.

        • Some of them go to abortion clinics thinking they will get counseling as to the best choice in their situation. The only choice offered is abortion – in contradistinction to what is being offered by the orgs some of those protestors represent. Thus, it is NOT “pointless distress”. You can search on the subject of women who deeply regret the abortions of their youth.

That’s not to say abortions should be outlawed. But they shouldn’t – in this country – be paid for by governmental funding. Nor should they be permitted to young girls sans parental knowledge and permission. It is a moral violation of the parent/child social contract.

In addition, two abortion clinics in Washington state were successfully sued for failing to provide adequate counseling re the two girls who (without parental knowledge) presented for abortion and were successful in receiving them. The girls not only didn’t know they carried the BRCA gene, they weren’t even asked about it. So the civil suits (they should have been followed up with criminal penalties) were settled out of court for undisclosed amounts. Both girls had little choice but to get double mastectomies to prevent the onset of death by aggressive, metastatic breast cancer.

I knew one such girl when she was a teenager. In fact, I last saw her at my daughter’s funeral. She was happily married, had a wonderful job, a loving husband and two young children…less than a year later she was dead from aggressive, metastatic breast cancer. The doctors kept urging her to fight the disease with their usual poisons. They didn’t tell her there was no hope, but they surely knew that. I didn’t find out until she was dying…

At the funeral (mobbed by all those who had loved her – and they were legion, she was that kind of person), when her young children passed by my pew, led by their sobbing father, the little boy said loudly, “Daddy, when do we get our new mommy?” That was puzzling until I realized that my dead friend had probably told her children repeatedly, “don’t worry, Mommy will come home good as new”.

So I don’t share your blithe assumptions here, Mark. Too leftist by a long shot, my friend. And far too heedless of the consequences. You’ve been sold a bill of goods you ought to consider returning.

          • I had assumed (perhaps wrongly) that a woman going to an abortion clinic would have made her decision already and didn’t deserve harrassment. I do have reservations about abortion (except in cases of rape, congenital disease etc), but don’t believe I should impose my view on others

  6. “For statistical purposes, the different spellings of the same name were grouped together, so Muhamed, Muhammet, Mohamad, Muhammad and Muhammad were all considered the same name, as were Elias, Elijah and Eliyas.”

Most popular baby names in Austria. I understand when a similar analysis of names was done for London, they treated the differing spellings of the prophet’s “handle” as different names. Thereby denying the name and its variants number one spot, which it really is.

    • It’s also the most popular baby name in Israel.

Muslims disproportionately call their children Mohammed, so having it become the most popular baby name seems to happen when Muslims are around 15-20% of newborns, when in a scenario where the rest of the population has typical name variation.

      • It’s a culture that lacks imagination. There are no great architects, playwrights, comedians or artists from there. Given the age of their civilisation and the numbers involved and their central location to global trade they can’t even come up with a decent car industry.
If it weren’t for oil the whole region would still be riding donkeys and camels with the only real modern elements being tie overs from the colonial powers presences.

  7. I don’t know if you all have been viewing Christian polemist, Jay Smith’s historical criticism of Islam’s beginnings, but they are very reveling. Only recently have western scholars been able to view all the earliest known korans. As more material is examined, I’m sure a lot more information is forthcoming.

    A very brief summary:

It appears that the Koran as we know it today, was first compiled in 1924 and was formally adapted in 1985 (I’m over twice as old as the official Koran). There does not exist any manuscripts from the time of mohammed, there is no evidence that Mecca existed at the time of mohammed, the direction of prayer of all the first mosques was toward Petra, and the description of Mecca in the Koran more accurately describes Petra (springs, olive trees, etc. all of which don’t exist in Mecca). The allah in the Koran is a polytheistic, pre Islamic Arabic deity worshipped in Petra via the black stone, which now resides in Mecca. As the stone was moved because of political turmoil, so moved the direction of prayer in subsequent mosques.

The earliest known korans all have thousands of errors/changes from our current version. There is no archeological evidence of mohammed even existing, nor any of the “rightly guided caliphs”, despite the technological means to preserve and record such writings and people. The Arabic written language was not perfectly formalized at the time of mohammed, so any accurate writings/interpretations are suspect (other regional biblical languages were known, well established, and widely used, so Jay poses the question “Why would God use Arabic for a supposedly Abrahamic religion?”). What you are left with is that we are supposed to believe that mohammed’s revelations were perfectly preserved for over 200 years via oral traditions and memorizations by his followers before being written down in a historically preserved form that people wanted to hold on to.

Islam is now just beginning to have it’s historical roots questioned in the same manner that Christianity went through for the last 200 years, and lots of new material regarding the validity of Islam’s claims is coming out. Jay seems to be the only one with the guts to make this information public.

What I would not give for an honest press that would report on such things!

  8. Another story in Australia to look at:

The Federal Government has just released a detailed listing of fraudulent claims made by owners of childcare centres. It turns out that most of those owners committing frauds appear to be Muslim.
