Federal Reserve Declares CBDC a “Key Duty” to Congress, Despite Public Statements Attempting to Downplay Its Focus

The Fed (US Federal Reserve, the central bank) does not appear to be one of those institutions whose word you could, so to speak — take to the bank.

Just as it is reassuring the public that it is not focusing on introducing a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the country, the Fed has only recently been telling Congress that steps leading to a digital dollar are among its “7 key duties.”

This is according to Congressman Tom Emmer, who posted a document on X on March 14, explaining that his office received it as the Fed representatives were in Congress for a presentation.

More & More Americans Turn to TikTok for News

The House of Representatives passed a bill last week that could lead to a nationwide ban of the social media platform TikTok in the United States, unless its Chinese owner Byte Dance sells its stake in the company within 165 days.

U.S. lawmakers had raised concerns over the question of data and national security risks of the app, fearing potential links to China’s government. TikTok, which is headquartered outside of China, says it has never been asked by the Chinese government to provide them with U.S. data and has been actively trying to distance itself from Beijing.

The short form video app is particularly beloved by teenagers and young people around the world.

Now, as Statista’s Anna Fleck reports, nearly one in three (32 percent) young adults aged 18-29 even say that they turn to TikTok regularly for news. This is up from just nine percent who said the same in 2020.

While still low, the overall share of adults in the United States who say they regularly get news on TikTok has more than quadrupled between 2020 and 2024.

The Dangerous Language and First Amendment Challenges of the Rushed Anti-TikTok Bill

The question of the TikTok “ban” in the US has jumbled the political landscape, creating unusual alliances and stirring passionate debates across the nation. Although there is a striking unity in Congress supporting a TikTok ban, differing perspectives persist among the American populace.

If the legislation passes in its current form, Bytedance will have a 180-day window to divest TikTok or else it will face prohibition.

While supporters of the ban highlight TikTok as a national security threat, opponents argue that the proposed ban is a covert means of controlling other social media platforms. This is mostly due to some of the wording of the rushed bill.

Belgium: Wallonian Conservatives Attacked by Far-Left After Meet-Up

A gathering of conservatives in the southern Belgian city of Mons came under attack on Sunday afternoon in an organised assault by left-wing militants, with one youth leader suffering head injuries after being set upon by approximately fifteen ‘antifascists.’

The attack occurred after the meeting, while activists were travelling for food with party president Tony Kacikowsky, who was assaulted by a gang of 15 in what observers described as having the appearance of a coordinated effort.

British Landscape Can Evoke “Dark Nationalist Feelings, “ Museum Claims

A British museum, run under the aegis of Cambridge University, has overhauled the signage for its historical paintings, one of which says those depicting the British countryside can trigger “dark nationalist feelings” in whoever may glance at them.

The preposterous change is part of The Fitzwilliam Museum’s reopening last week with galleries based on themes (“Men Looking At Women”, “Migration and Movement”, and “Identity”) rather than chronology, which would place historical paintings alongside modern works of art.

Experts: New Spanish Law Still Wouldn’t Give Blanket Amnesty

The ‘total amnesty’ for Spanish MEP Carles Puigdemont may not be as solid as its supporters had hoped.

The proposed law would grant immunity from punishment to Puigdemont and other Catalan separatists accused of carrying out the 2017 illegal independence referendum, as well as a wide range of related or possible crimes—from looting and rioting to colluding with Russia to break apart the Spanish nation.

Consulted by the Spanish newspaper El Debate, several legal experts—including retired judges—outlined several scenarios in which the constitutionality of the bill could be questioned.

Italy: Mattarella Defends Journalist Targetted by Anti-Israel Protesters

Intolerance should be banned from higher education — president

President Sergio Mattarella on Friday rushed to the defence of (Post-Communist-Left leaning) La Repubblica Editor-in-chief Maurizio Molinari after students protesting against Italian universities having relations with Israel stopped him from taking part in a debate at Naples’s Federico II University.

Molinari, who is Jewish, has been accused by some of being too sympathetic with Israel after it waged war on Hamas following the October 7 massacres.

The students involved held up a banner that read “Zionists out of universities”.

Mattarella’s office said Friday that the head of State had phoned Molinari to expressed his solidarity.

The statement said Mattarella stated that “what must be banned from universities is intolerance.

“Those who claim the right to impose their ideas by preventing people who think differently from expressing theirs are incompatible with higher education,” he said.

Italy’s Jewish community also voiced solidarity with Molinari.

“It is inconceivable and unacceptable that the Federico II University of Naples was forced to cancel a conference due to the intimidation and violence of a group of troublemakers against the speaker, La Repubblica Editor Maurizio Molinari, just because he is Jewish,” said a joint statement by the President of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, Noemi Di Segni, the President of the Jewish Community of Rome, Victor Fadlun, and the President of the Jewish Community of Milan, Walker Meghnagi.

“Just because he is still trying to act responsibly as a journalist. Universities are, or should be, a place of tolerance, inclusion, freedom of thought, respect for the person.

“These episodes only strengthen our sense of community.

“If anti-Semitism prevails, it is a defeat for everyone”.

Higher Education and Research Minister Anna Maria Bernini sent a message to Molinari expressing her dismay at what had happened and asked the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) to hold an extraordinary meeting on the “intolerance emergency”, sources said.

Molinari wrote about the incident on the newspaper’s website, saying “the best response to every form of intolerance is respect for your neighbour”.

He said he had offered to meet the protesters and listen to their views on the war in the Middle East but was knocked back.

“I remain open to dialogue with them on any issue,” he said.

40% of students are Muslim, head gets death threats

A school near Milan has given its pupils the day off on April 10, the end of the Muslim holy month of fasting Ramadan, sparking a row and even death threats against the head.

The high school, the Istituto Comprensivo Iqbal Masiq at Pioltello, has 40% of Muslim students.

The head, Alessandro Fanfoni, said on social media Monday “I’m afraid and I don’t feel like talking about the case in public at the moment”.

The rightwing League party said it was “more worried about the remaining 60% of students at Pioltello who are not Muslim”.

The local mayor, Ivonne Cosciotti, whose community has a 20% minority of foreign-born citizens, said “closing the school is an act of civility”.

The anti-migrant League replied that “it is not a civilised act but one of intolerance”.

Italy: PD: M5S Sending Us to Death Like Jews — Azione’s Pittella

Former Basilicata governor apologises, blames stress

(see related story on Basilicata) Marcello Pittella, the former governor of Basilicata and a regional councillor there, has apologized after saying in an audio message that the Democratic Party (PD) and the 5-Star Movement (M5S) wanted to send his centrist Azione party to death like Jews in a concentration camp amid a row over alliances ahead of next month’s regional election.

“(PD leader Elly) Schlein’s right-hand man says that Azione cannot be on the centre-left list because (Azione leader Carlo) Calenda said things that weren’t nice about the PD and (M5S leader Giuseppe) Conte,” Pittella said in the audio message to members of his team.

“And, above all, because he (Calenda) said (centre-right incumbent Governor Vito) Bardi is a good person.

“Their statement has you putting your hands in your hair.

“It saddens me tremendously because it means there’s an effort to hurt, to cause death.

“You know when they deported Jews and had to take them to gas chambers? “There you go, for them I am a Jew who must die”.

Pittella apologized as soon as reports of what he had said came out.

“Days of stress and emotional tension generated an unjustified and totally unintentional hyperbole in private audio,” he said.

“I used those words to describe the way we were treated after having governed the region for the centre left with dignity and honour.

“I am deeply sorry for what happened and I apologize to anyone who may have felt offended.”

Spain: “Nobody is Listening to Us”: Farmers Return to Madrid Streets

Farmers again took to the streets of Madrid on Sunday, March 17, to demand changes in EU agricultural policy and an end to the UN’s Agenda 2030 environmental program. About 80 tractors drove through the heart of the capital to the Ministry of Agriculture, where police were guarding the doors and the roof of the building. But the protest was completely calm and peaceful.

Farmers continue to demand more flexibility, less stringent environmental regulations, and lighter bureaucracy from the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which decides on the requirements for farmers’ subsidies.

In solidarity with consumers, the farmers also delivered a donation of 27 five-liter bottles of olive oil to the charity Messengers Of Peace since, as they told the media, the increased price of the Spanish kitchen staple now means that “only people with a very high purchasing power” could enjoy it.

British newspapers are filled daily with speculation over the timing of the next general election. But what is already certain is that whenever it comes, voters are not apathetic about any likely Labour victory.

It has been clear for some time that voters—especially those in the more working-class, so-called ‘Red Wall’ constituencies that switched from Labour to the Conservatives in 2019 in the hope of ‘getting Brexit done’—are more than prepared to call time on 14 years of Tory rule which has seen immigration spiral completely out of control and ‘woke’ beliefs treated as though they were the norm.

Kamala’s Gaza Coup

After years of agreeing with her boss on everything, Kamala decided to make a break for it.

It began with newspaper stories claiming that the VP had been pushing Joe Biden to speak more about the “suffering” of Muslims in Gaza during the war between Hamas and Israel.

The break went even more public when Kamala visited the United Arab Emirates and attacked Israel, implicitly accusing it of violating “international humanitarian law” and claiming that “the scale of civilian suffering and the images and videos coming from Gaza are devastating”.

Then she warned Israel that there could be “no forcible displacement, no reoccupation, no siege or blockade, no reduction in territory”.

At the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Kamala hijacked the civil rights commemoration to rant that “the Israeli government must do more to significantly increase the flow of aid… No excuses. They must open new border crossings. They must not impose any unnecessary restrictions on the delivery of aid.”

“No excuses,” she barked.

Media stories quickly followed claiming that Kamala’s original draft had been even harsher on Israel but had been watered down. This was the latest in a series of leaks from inside Kamala’s camp which all claimed that she was much more pro-terrorist and anti-Israel in private.

Ukraine Official: Cubans Are Arriving in Russia. Are They Workers or Soldiers?

Last year, Dannys Castillo, a 27-year-old from Cuba, traveled to Russia after being offered a job in construction. His family said Castillo was looking to escape the stagnation that has befallen the Caribbean island, with the economy suffering a double-digit fall as a result of the state monopoly of the economy.

So Castillo’s mother, Marilin Vinent, was astonished when photographs of her son in Russian military fatigues emerged on social media. She says Castillo was duped.

The bogus job offer was a carrot dangled to entice him over to Russia. In reality, her son had fallen prey to the close cooperation between the governments of Russia and Cuba.

Likely for show, the Cuban authorities announced last year they had arrested 17 people on suspicion of recruiting unwitting citizens to join its illegal war of aggression against Ukraine. However, confirmed reports from Cuba, including videos, show that some of these suspects have already been released, without charges and without trial.

Another increasingly popular method used by fraudsters is the extortion of foreign soldiers, most often American ones, mainly due to the fact that a large number of them reside on Polish territory. The extortionists claim that they need help because, for example, they have returned from a peacekeeping mission or have been injured.

Supreme Court Extends Block on Texas Law That Would Allow Police to Arrest Migrants

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday continued to block, for now, a Texas law that would give police broad powers to arrest migrants suspected of illegally entering the U.S. while the legal battle it sparked over immigration authority plays out.

A one-page order signed by Justice Samuel Alito indefinitely prevents Texas from enforcing a sweeping state immigration enforcement law that had been set to take effect this month. The language of the order strongly suggests the court will take additional action, but it is unclear when.

Sweden: ‘I Have Changed My Mind!’ — Pro-Open Borders MP Undertakes Spectacular U-Turn and Calls for Strict Immigration, Deportations, and Repatriation

A Swedish lawmaker who previously advocated in favor of mass arrivals of asylum seekers during the migrant crisis of 2015 has admitted the influx of immigration has fundamentally changed the country and now wants to pull up the drawbridge.

Louise Meijer of the now-governing Moderate Party penned her thoughts on the Swedish government’s need to crack down on migration and signaled a U-turn from her previous desire to welcome an unprecedented number of new arrivals into the country.

Writing in the Expressen, Meijer acknowledged that during the migrant crisis in 2015 she “took a stand for openness ‘Refugees Welcome,’“ opposing her party’s call at the time for stricter rules to curb immigration.

Gen-Z OnlyFans ‘Creator’ Quits as She Dedicates Life to Jesus Christ

OnlyFans has become a site for adult entertainers and amateurs to deliver pornographic content straight to their horny fans. Gen-Zers have flocked to the site, many of whom are young women seeking ‘female empowerment.’

The platform boasts about young female superstar “models” making six— and seven-figure earnings, aspiring (or corrupting) an entire generation of young people to give up on education and degrade themselves as a sex worker. This trend exploded during Covid as many youngsters have lost all memory of why sex work is shamed in society.

Taking selfies or videos of feet, asses, boobs, and or pornographic scenes with others isn’t real productive work and is self-destructive behavior (daddy problems much?). Normalizing online prostitution is terrible for civilized societies. Also, sex workers are not respected in society, leaving very limited future opportunities in life after OnlyFans.

Recent data from OnlyFans shows that about 70% of creators are women, and 30% are men, translating to about 1.4 million American women and 600,000 American men.

The OnlyFans phenomenon could be a bubble as one top Gen-Zer creator has allegedly given up on her hugely successful account for a life of Christ, or at least she says…

J.K. Rowling Shreds Puberty Blockers After U.K. Ban: ‘Well-Funded Lobbying Groups Drunk on Their Own Power’

J.K. Rowling ripped into the activists who pushed puberty blockers after the U.K. National Health Service (NHS) banned their use on minors dealing with transgenderism.

NHS England based its decision to ban puberty blockers for children this week on there not being enough evidence on the procedure’s safety or clinical effectiveness. The U.K. government also endorsed the “landmark decision,” hailing at as being in the “best interests of children.” NHS England proposed a ban on the procedure last June and issued the definitive decision following a review from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Author J.K. Rowling, who has been an outspoken critic of transgender radicalism since 2020, celebrated the decision on social media and called out the activists who pushed this on children.

Nashville Police Department Changes Physical Fitness Requirements, Adds ‘Lactation Rooms’ to Precincts in Bid to Recruit More Female Officers

In 2021, the Metro Nashville Police Department signed on to an initiative aimed at recruiting more women, with the eventual goal of achieving a 30 percent female force by 2030. The MNPD has made a number of changes since then to create a more female-friendly workplace, including replacing the physical fitness requirements with physical ability tests, and adding “lactation rooms” to its precincts.

While the moves have resulted in an uptick in women joining the force, many have raised concerns about whether altering the requirements will have an adverse impact on officers’ ability to apprehend criminals.

Radio-Canada HQ Vandalized Over Coverage of Underage Gender Transitions

Radio-Canada’s headquarters in Montreal was vandalized by far-left extremists last Wednesday, an act claimed online as a rebuttal to the controversial report on gender transition therapy for minors.

An anonymous submission was published to Montréal Contre-Information’s website titled “Radio-Canada has blood on its hands: a look back at the shop windows destroyed on the night of March 12-13.”

The letter confirmed that activists destroyed the windows of the Radio-Canada building in response to the organization’s “decision to use its broad platform to amplify transphobic rhetoric akin to that of the extreme right.”

Woke Mind Virus Causes ‘Anxiety & Depression’, New Study Reveals

A new study from psychological researchers in Finland, published in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology, finds a positive correlation between an individual’s commitment to social justice beliefs, including “intersectionality,” “antiracism,” and “wokeness,” and experiencing a life full of anxiety and depression.

As the ‘woke mind virus’ spreads like cancer across Western nations, there are new concerns about a developing mental health crisis. This is because the study, titled “Construction and validation of a scale for assessing critical social justice attitudes,” finds an elevated risk of anxiety and depression in the Finnish population who practice the so-called “woke” religion.

  1. “US district judge ruled that the federal prohibition on firearm ownership by illegal immigrants is unconstitutional.”

    That’s the way it appears..
“The noncitizen possession statute, 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(5), violates the Second Amendment as applied to Carbajal-Flores,” U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman, appointed under President Barack Obama, wrote in her 8-page ruling.” —Epoch Times (18 Mar 2024)

So an American CITIZEN loses his [Second Amendment] civil rights if convicted of a serious crime, yet entering the US ILLEGALLY does NOT appear to be considered by this ‘toddler “jurist” to be a serious crime. Looks like [yet] another case for the Supremes to smack down (hopefully)..

  2. They want to do to Russia what they did to Germany back in the day:
    https://leohohmann.com/2024/03/14/how-nato-powers-are-using-the-u-k-s-world-war-i-model-to-lure-russia-into-the-next-big-global-war/

Not the first time the thought occurred to me, but now I see it beginning to be expressed in some places. We’ll see how far they get this time around. Last time it ended not only the targeted empire, but everyone’s who got involved. Only today, unlike the West, Russians learn history. And they are extra sensitive to it since that was obstructed under socialism. They’re not going to repeat this mistake.

  3. I am leafing through the foreign press about the elections held in Russia. They write that this is the “choice” of Russians, and not clownery unprecedented in cynicism. The West writes us all down as Putin’s accomplices.

    • Elena: Not the West, in general. Just the western media, which is modern version of the former Soviet Union’s “Pravda.”

  4. That is like a Muslim who raped a little boy in a swimming pool bathroom who told the judge that it was a sexual emergency.

The judge found him innocent of the charges

That is one reason that I despise all Muslims and muslim lovers.

    • “That is one reason that I despise all Muslims and muslim lovers.”

That is one reason I avoid bathrooms containing Muslims…and others wearing black coverings.

      • I have despised muslims since I was a young man in Vienna walking with my Grandfather, who stated to me after a dozen young turks tried to rob and beat us to death, we had our war with our own, you will have your war with the muslims, he also told me, make sure you let none of them live. I have never forgotten that to this day. As for the young turks that tried to rob and knife us? My Grandfather calmly pulled his Walther and shot them and then we walked away like nothing happened, it is a policy I have religiously followed into my professional life ever since.
