Canada Braces for Wave of Bankruptcies After Ending Pandemic Support

Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said that roughly a fifth of the 900,000 small businesses that took out interest-free loans to survive the government’s civil rights abuses during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic have not repaid the loans yet.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses (CFIB) painted an even grimmer picture, estimating that 25 percent of borrowers have missed the January deadline.

Bankruptcies in Canada began surging as pandemic funding dried up in 2023, so the possibility that more than 200,000 small businesses might not repay their emergency loans is a bad omen for 2024.

Italy: Inflation Erodes Household Wealth by 12% in 2022 — ISTAT

Net wealth relative to income at lowest level since 2005

Inflation eroded Italian household wealth by more than 12% in 2022 compared to the previous year, ISTAT and the Bank of Italy said on Monday.

At the end of 2022 the net wealth of Italian households amounted to 10,421 billion euro, according to the joint report ‘Wealth of the Main Institutional Sectors 2005-2022’.

This represented a drop of 1.7% in nominal terms, but of 12.5% in real terms considering inflation, using the consumer price index as a reference point.

ISTAT and BoI said net wealth also fell in relation to disposable income, from 8.7 to 8.1, “reaching its lowest level in the survey period of this publication”.

Net wealth is the difference between gross wealth (financial and non-financial assets) and financial liabilities.

ATF Whistleblowers Sound Alarm on Biden Admin Proposal That Effectively Bans Private Gun Sales: Report

Whistleblowers at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are sounding the alarm on a reported 1,300-page draft document that allegedly justifies a proposed rule that would effectively ban private gun sales, according to a watchdog group.

“The fact that inside ATF sources are blowing the whistle on this draft rule is an indication of what a difficult position it would put the ATF in. ATF agents did not sign up to go after law-abiding citizens for private sales protected under the Second Amendment of the Constitution,” Tristan Leavitt, president of watchdog group Empower Oversight, said in a press release Wednesday.

Blue State Serves Up ‘Gift’ to Criminals With New Bill That Would Further Tie Cops’ Hands: Retired Chief

A policing bill introduced in Illinois this week that would prevent officers from pulling people over for speeding or not displaying license plates would be a “gift” to criminals and a “backdoor” way to defund the police, a retired Illinois police chief warned.

“Criminals will love it,” retired Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel told Fox News Digital of House Bill 4603. “… it’s a ‘here it’s your birthday or Merry Christmas, here’s a gift for you.’“

Democratic state Rep. Justin Slaughter introduced the bill Monday, which would prohibit cops from pulling people over for traffic infractions such as: speeding up to 25 miles per hour over the limit; driving with an expired registration sticker; failing to display registration plates or stickers; not wearing a seat belt; or driving with defective mirrors and excessively tinted windows.

Body Found in Vehicle Recovered in Virginia Beach, Police Say

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Almost a week after a vehicle went off the edge of the 14th Street Fishing Pier at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, crews were finally able to remove it from the water Friday morning.

Police said one body was found in the vehicle, and the Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the person’s identity. On Tuesday, VBPD said this investigation has similarities to a missing person case. They have not reported the name of that missing person.

The vehicle was a red Nissan Kicks SUV, which did not have license plates, police say. It was covered with a tarp after being pulled from the water. The barge it was placed on was taken out to calmer waters to begin forensic analysis, police said.

Charities That Run Bail-Funds for Suspected Rioters to be Criminalized Under New Georgia Senate Bill

On Thursday, the Georgia State Senate passed a sweeping bill that places new restrictions on charitable groups involved with bailing out riot-related suspects. The bill will also expand the cash bail system, hindering repeat offender’s chances of being bailed out of jail.

This legislation is partly in response to the dozens of criminal riot arrestees who have been hit with RICO and terrorism charges over crimes committed during the ongoing Antifa-backed “Stop Cop City” demonstrations.

Ex-CIA Coder Joshua Schulte Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison for Leaking Hacking Tools to WikiLeaks

Former CIA officer Joshua Schulte faces 40 years in prison for leaking a trove of classified hacking tools to WikiLeaks, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York announced Thursday. He was also found guilty of possessing child abuse images.

Prosecutors accused the onetime coder of passing on the CIA’s “Vault 7” tools, which allow intelligence officers to hack smartphones and use them as listening devices in what was variously described as one of the most “brazen” leaks in U.S. history.

Schulte, 35, shared some 8,761 documents to WikiLeaks in 2017, the U.S. justice department found. It was the single largest data leak in the agency’s history.

He denied the allegations, but was convicted on the various counts of espionage at three separate federal trials in New York in 2020, 2022, and 2023.

Half of U.S. Adults Say Israel Has Gone Too Far in War in Gaza, AP-NORC Poll Says

WASHINGTON (AP) — Half of U.S. adults say Israel’s 15-week-old military campaign in Gaza has “gone too far,” a finding driven mainly by growing disapproval among Republicans and political independents, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Broadly, the poll shows support for Israel and the Biden administration’s handling of the situation ebbing slightly further across the board. The poll shows 31 percent of U.S. adults approve of Biden’s handling of the conflict, including just 46 percent of Democrats. That’s as an earlier spike in support for Israel following the Hamas attacks Oct. 7 sags.

Melissa Morales, a 36-year-old political independent in Runnemede, New Jersey, says she finds herself watching videos and news from Gaza daily. Images of Palestinian children wounded, orphaned or unhoused by the fighting in Gaza make her mind go to her own 3-year-old boy.

“I just can’t even imagine, like, my son roaming the streets, wanting to be safe. Wanting his mom. Or just wanting someone to get him,” she said.

Judge Dismisses Case Against Michigan Man Accused of Threatening Biden, Harris

BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) — A federal judge on Friday dismissed a criminal case against a northern Michigan man accused of threatening President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

After a preliminary examination in federal court in Bay City, U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Morris concluded that there was no probable cause and social media posts attributed to Russell Douglas Warren, 48, of Prudenville, did not pose a “true threat,” The Detroit News reported.

Prosecutors said FBI and U.S. Secret Service agents learned that Warren posted a series of messages last week on X, the social media platform formerly know as Twitter, saying Biden and Harris had been condemned and should be imprisoned and executed. Warren called for Biden to be taken to prison “to await execution. He shall be hanged.”

Justin Mohn Decapitated His Dad After First Shooting Him in Head With 9mm He Bought the Day Before: DA

The disturbed conspiracy theorist accused of decapitating his dad and then holding up the head in a sick online video had first shot him dead with a gun he bought legally the day before, officials in Pennsylvania said Friday.

Justin Mohn, 32, bought the 9mm Sig Sauer handgun at a store a few miles from his Levittown home on Monday — hours after giving up a medical marijuana card so he could get the weapon legally, District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said.

The next day, he shot his 68-year-old father, Michael Francis Mohn, in the head, before decapitating him with a knife and a machete — and posting a rambling YouTube video holding up the plastic-wrapped head, Schorn said.

Mohn’s mom had come home to find her husband’s headless body Tuesday afternoon, with the head in a cooking pot, officials previously said.

Microsoft CEO Says the Company is Working to Address Election “Disinformation and Misinformation”

Concerns are growing over the role of Big Tech companies in moderating “misinformation,” particularly due to the fear that these corporations already wield significant power and influence which could potentially sway political outcomes, including elections.

Many worry that the concentrated power in these tech giants allows them to arbitrarily define what constitutes misinformation, leading to a situation where they could suppress certain viewpoints or information. This raises questions about the impartiality and fairness of such moderation, especially in the context of political discourse and the democratic process. The debate is fueled by the concern that these companies, due to their size and reach, could have a disproportionate impact on public opinion and electoral processes.

Microsoft Edge Sucks Up Chrome Data Without Permission

Most of those who use Microsoft products — Windows, and the Edge browser included — must by now be well conditioned to accept that the software they run and the data they believe they own isn’t really something they control.

And perhaps this is why a “feature” as astonishing as Edge automatically importing tabs open in Google Chrome — even when Microsoft browser’s import tool is disabled — has been known for months, without getting fixed (assuming it was a bug).

But it looks like a “bug” in the company’s thinking, one of many — not exactly a software one. It’s definitely a feature, after all.

NYC Teen Accused of Stabbing 2 Students Acted in Self-Defense, Charges Dropped: Sources

A teen charged with stabbing two fellow students inside their Queens high school will not be prosecuted after social media video backed his contention that he was jumped by a large group, police sources said Friday.

Instead, the two 17-year-olds who were stabbed Thursday inside Martin Van Buren High School— one of whom has been investigated for his role in two shootings, including a murder — have been charged with gang assault, sources said.

The other teen was also charged with gun possession for the Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol allegedly found in his jacket pocket, sources said.

The stabbing happened at 1:20 p.m. Thursday inside Martin Van Buren on Hillside Ave. near 230th St. in Queens Village following a fight that erupted in the stairwell between the first and second floors, a witness told the Daily News.

“I was trying to walk my girlfriend to her class and as we got to the staircase we saw them get in an altercation,” a 14-year-old student told The News on Thursday. “These two boys had an altercation. One of them was losing bad and he pulled out a knife and stabbed [the other one].”

Medics rushed both teens to Long Island Jewish Cohens Hospital, one with stab wounds to his upper body, the other with two stab wounds to his back and one to his shoulder.

The school, which has cameras but not scanners, was put into a soft lockdown, meaning there was no reason to believe anyone else would be in danger.

Sources said that as school safety agents tended to the stab victims, an agent found a gun inside the pocket of a coat belonging to the teen with back and shoulder wounds.

When NYPD officers arrived on the scene they recovered the knife and grabbed the suspected stabber, a 16-year-old boy police initially identified as 17.

The boy was taken to the 105th Precinct. With his mother present, he claimed self-defense and identified the teens that were stabbed as part of a larger group that jumped into the fight.

He then pointed authorities to social media video taken of the attack that backed up his claim.

The Queens District Attorney’s Office then told police to void the 16-year-old’s arrest, sources said.

Italy: Ask Yourself Why Nobody Activates ESM — Meloni-Schlein

I see very Italian, ideological debate says PM at PhotoAnsa 2023

Premier Giorgia Meloni posed an open question for centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein at the presentation of PhotoAnsa 2023 in Rome Monday, asking her why no on had activated the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) bailout fund, the approval of whose reform has pitted Rome against its EU allies.

“The ESM debate is a very Italian debate and also a very ideological one, testifying to the instrumentality of certain positions: you cannot talk about the ESM if you do not know the context,” said the premier.

“Certain statements make me smile, such as PD secretary Elly Schlein saying ‘we cannot hold the whole of Europe down’.

“Perhaps she doesn’t know that the ESM exists, whoever wants to activate it can easily activate it.

“Perhaps we should ask ourselves why, at a time when we are all jumping through hoops to find resources, no one wants to activate it: this would be the debate to open”.

Israel’s Military Threatens to Advance Into Last Gaza ‘Safe Zone’

Putin Casts the Ukraine Conflict as a Fight for Russia’s Survival as He Seeks Reelection

MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin on Friday described Moscow’s military action in Ukraine as a battle for Russia’s survival as he campaigned for reelection next month in balloting that he’s all but certain to win.

Speaking at a meeting with arms industries workers in the city of Tula south of Moscow, Putin declared that the vast majority of Russians support his course.

“If the public hadn’t felt that way, nothing would have happened,” he said. “We are doing what people expect us to do.”

He again argued that sending troops into Ukraine was necessary to protect Russian speakers in eastern Ukraine and stop what he described as attempts by Washington and its NATO allies to encroach on Moscow’s vital security interests. Ukraine and its Western allies have denounced it as an unprovoked act of aggression.

“If we hadn’t protected our people … we would have turned into a weak country lacking self-sufficiency that no one cares for,” he said. “They would have patronizingly patted us on the shoulder and given us rotten potatoes as humanitarian assistance while thinking how to chip away pieces from us.”

Putin said that despite Western expectations Russia would collapse quickly under the brunt of sanctions, its economy has grown and military industries have sharply increased output.

India: ISIS Magazine ‘Voice of Khurasan’ Threatens Hindus and Bharat in Its 32nd Issue for a Massacre

Sabita Mishra | HENB | New Delhi | Feb 1, 2024:: On January 26th (Rajab 1445 14 Friday), the 32nd edition of ‘Voice of Khurasan’, an online magazine affiliated with the Islamic State, was disseminated across various social media and dark web platforms. In this recent release, ISIS issued threats specifically targeting Hindus and Hindutva leaders including BJP key persons, as hinted They warned of repercussions, citing concerns related to the illegal construction of Babri, the Gujarat Riots in 2002, and other issues including alleged Muslim persecution in India. The 32nd edition of ‘Voice of Khurasan’ surfaced on the internet on January 29-30, 2024 as published by Al-Azaim Foundation of Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).

In an article titled “Would you desire me to slay him?” there was a mention of the National Institute of Technology (Srinagar) matter where a Hindu boy was accused of using derogatory language against Prophet Mohammed.

In November 2023, a student at Srinagar National Institute of Technology (NIT), who was Hindu, faced charges of blasphemy for sharing a video on his Instagram story. The video featured Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of the Hamas leader, criticizing Prophet Muhammad. The Hindu student shared an already viral video where Yousef made critical remarks about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.

On Tuesday, following widespread protests and chanting at the NIT campus over the mentioned video, an FIR was filed against the Hindu student. Even though the video did not showcase the Hindu student and he was not its creator but rather had shared an edited version produced by a YouTuber, Muslim students at NIT Srinagar called for his arrest, alleging ‘blasphemy’.

The Muslims of NIT Srinagar and several other Islamists not only demanded his arrest but also raised ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogans against the Hindu boy.

The mentioned student was in a relationship with a girl Muslim student at the same institute. Due to harassment from Islamists, the Hindu student had to leave Kashmir. Following the controversy, several Hindu students were relocated from Srinagar. Importantly, the Hindu student did not engage in any inappropriate behaviour; he simply shared a widely circulated video featuring the son of a Hamas leader.

ISIS highlighted that the incident occurred in a region where Muslims constitute the majority, considering it a “clear provocation to war.” The terror organization further asserted that it signalled a change in Kashmir, a place where non-Muslims, particularly Hindus, once concealed their opinions due to fear for their lives. According to ISIS, this increasing boldness suggests that if Hindus could dominate Muslims even temporarily, they would not allow Muslims to “live in peace.”

ISIS asserted that Muslims are being subjected to various forms of attacks in cities dominated by Hindus, often orchestrated by organizations like the RSS. These attacks, according to ISIS, encompass economic, physical, and psychological dimensions. To support their claim, the terror group referenced an unfortunate incident in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman was accidentally shot in the head by an Assistant Inspector.

Reports indicate that the 55-year-old woman, identified as Ishrat Nigar, visited the police station for passport verification. During the process, SI Manoj Sharma from a nearby police station arrived to collect his weapon. Unfortunately, the gun accidentally discharged while being handed over by a constable. Despite receiving treatment, the woman passed away at the hospital. Video evidence of the incident suggests it was an unfortunate accident, and legal procedures are being followed. However, ISIS has seized on the incident, portraying it as a case of government employees versus Muslims.

‘We are saying to the government of India…Yes! Indeed, we shall come with swords in our hands to slaughter you collectively—[Yes!] We shall come to avenge Babri masjid, [we shall come to avenge] the persecuted [Muslims] of Gujarat, Kashmir, Muzaffarnagar,” the magazine threatened alongside a picture of an ISIS terrorist wielding a knife and a kneeled captive wearing the archetype orange suit and sitting in front of him.

The ISIS-backed magazine continued to issue a threat of “Sar Tan Se Juda”, or slaughter, at the end of the article. ISIS referred to the statements of terrorist Fahad Tanveer Shaikh, also known as Abu Umar Al-Hindi, who had issued threats against Hindus. In 2016, a video featuring two ISIS terrorists from Kalyan surfaced on the internet.

Fahad Tanveer Shaikh and Aman Naeem Tandel were featured in the video, and reports suggested both were elevated to top leadership positions within the terror organization. Although the ISIS magazine attributed the threat against India and Hindus to Fahad, some reports indicated that the words used in the magazine were those of Aman. He had said, “We will return (to India), but with a sword in hand, the Babri Masjid, and the killings of Muslims in Kashmir, in Gujarat, and Muzaffarnagar.”

Fahad and Aman were among four Muslim boys who fled home to join ISIS in 2014. Fahad was killed in 2017. Aman was killed in 2016.

The threat in the article further read, “At last, it is obligatory upon the people of knowledge to safeguard the honour of the Prophet g and make it evident to the masses in time of fitna, and they are those who possess the knowledge to take a firm stand against that which demands attention!!”

Voice of Khurasan, an ISIS-backed magazine, commenced publication in 2021 and has released 32 issues as of January 2024. The magazine has consistently issued threats against Hindus and the Government of India in its previous editions. Additionally, it actively encourages Muslims to join and contribute funds to terrorist organizations.

Earlier, the same ISIS magazine ‘Voice of Khurasan’ issued threats to Indian PM Modi, RSS Chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat and Hindutva leader Dr Pravin Togadia to face dire consequences under Islamic dictum.

Quran, the Hand Book of Jihad, orders to kill infidels (Kuffars) in its various verses (ayats) openly.

Interestingly, such threats to Hindus, Jews or Christians and Ex-Muslims from the Islamist organizations never amount to any meaningful repercussions to denounce such a type of barbaric acts of a section of Muslim people by any international Judicial body, Peace Foundations or Human Rights forum.

The Russian state outlet RT reported that Dong made the remark during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Shoigu on Wednesday. Dong’s meeting with Shoigu marked his debut on the international stage, as communist dictator Xi Jinping appointed him to the position of defense minister on December 29. His predecessor, Li Shangfu, disappeared without explanation in August and subsequently lost his position in October, leaving China with no defense minister for two months. Li’s whereabouts, or why he disappeared, remain a mystery at press time.

A Fire Set Off by a Gas Explosion in Kenya Kills at Least 3 People and Injures 280 Others

A truck loaded with liquid petroleum gas cylinders has exploded in a depot and set off a late-night inferno that burned homes and warehouses in Kenya’s capital

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Liquid petroleum gas cylinders exploded in an illegal depot in a residential area of the Kenyan capital, officials said Friday, setting off a late-night inferno that killed at least three people and injured 280 others. The death toll was expected to rise.

The depot in Nairobi had twice been demolished, and the owner had been found guilty of operating an illegal gas refilling business in May, but continued to do business, officials said. That raised suspicions — in a country where corruption is endemic — that bribes were paid to ignore the operation.

At least 24 people were critically injured, the Kenya Red Cross said, after a huge fireball erupted from the gas depot and rapidly spread, burning homes and warehouses. Some gas cylinders were thrown hundreds of meters (yards), sparking separate fires in the neighborhood.

These individuals—I went over their rap sheets yesterday—multiple charges: grand larceny, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny.”

These are the men Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg sought fit to release without bail.

Vermont Resettled Somalis, Shootings Are Up 185%

Shootings are up 185% in Vermont from 2021 to 2022.

“We are not used to this level of violence in Vermont,” Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger complained after the city racked up 5 murders. That may not sound like much, but it gives the normally sleepy city, where Bernie Sanders got his start, a higher murder rate than Philly.

When James Eaton, a mentally unstable leftist who had praised Hamas, shot and wounded three Arab Muslim men outside his home, the media eagerly diverted attention from the crime wave to the shooter, who was conveniently white, while falsely blaming it on ‘Islamophobia’.

The discredited hoax was not only trying to rally support for terrorists, but also to distract attention from the real perpetrators of the violence that has overtaken Bernie’s old city.

The shooters in Burlington, VT are much more likely to be Muslim male teens.

Another recent shooting out of Burlington made the national news when Hussein Mohamed, the underage son of Somali immigrants who don’t speak English, shot and killed Madden: a local 14-year-old boy. It was reported that “state police were able to make an arrest despite at least two eyewitnesses from the car providing multiple false statements about the crime.”

The murder wave in Burlington was touched off in 2022 when Abdiaziz Abdhikadir, 19, shot and killed Hussein Mubarak, 21.

Abdiaziz Abdhikadir had been part of a Somali Muslim refugee family profiled by the New York Times under the headline “U.S. a Place of Miracles for Somali Refugees.” Of that family, one son was convicted of assault with a firearm, another of “aggravated assault for shooting a man in November 2020” and Abdiaziz Abdhikadir was the grandson of that same family.

Abdhikadir had allegedly become a member of a Somali gang that stole cars while “wearing surgical gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints behind” and two of them had attacked a man in broad daylight while wearing ski masks.

Mubarak had been born in a refugee camp before being his family was resettled in America where his “older and younger siblings” spent time in jail, while he turned to selling drugs.

The reporting on the incident and other violent encounters in Burlington are littered with mentions of drug dealing, stolen cars and guns, shootings in garages and names like Abdirahman Mohamed, Ahmed Mohamed, Badal Khadka and Abukar Hilowle.

Top Colleges and Universities Have Policies That Could be Used to Improperly Censor Students for Constitutionally Protected Speech

The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) has voiced concerns about censorship, as their recent investigative report revealed that approximately 85% of prestigious US institutions impose speech restrictions.

This rise signals a worrisome trend in the aftermath of progress spanning over a decade during which the frequency of stern speech regulations in colleges and universities was on the decline. However, these regulations are now gaining prominence for the second consecutive year.

Laura Beltz, FIRE’s director of policy reform, emphasized the problem, stating that free speech at higher educational establishments continues to deteriorate. She expressed concern over the predominant colleges and universities, who are increasingly exerting controls and employing highly controversial policies to regulate their students’ freedom of speech.

  1. Re. UK: London Chemical Attack Suspect is ‘Good Muslim’ Who May Have Faked Christian Conversion to Get Asylum

Is there such a policy in the UK to grant asylum to people from Islamic countries if, or even only if, they leave the faith? The possibility of betrayal notwithstanding, this would be a good move. Is it true?

What do you do when everything is a lie?

    2/2-24 – http://www.snaphanen.dk
    from Danish by LN

    By Lars Hedegaard

I’ve been wanting to write more about the media and the damaging effects of its transition to being a conduit for various far-left obsessions.

I have noticed with sadness that some of my friends on the “right” have started subscribing to a number of conspiracy theories:

The Hamas massacre on 7 October was instigated by evil Jews who wanted an excuse to carry out mass murder of Palestinians.

The planes that took out the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001 were remotely controlled by the US and had nothing to do with fanatical Muslims’ desire to kill infidels.

Corona was invented by Bill Gates to exterminate the majority of the world’s population.

I’ve even heard from – now former – friends that Auschwitz was just a labour camp and that the Holocaust is a lie and Jewish propaganda.

How did it come to this? I was asked this question yesterday, and my best explanation is that otherwise right-thinking people, after many years of listening to the systematic lies of the media, have concluded that everything else is probably lies as well.

And on Google you can easily find “experts” who can provide convincing explanations that in all cases the opposite of what we believed has happened.

This is one of the most striking feats of the lying press.

We also know it from our private lives. If your wife has cheated on you, you think all women are like that. And maybe they are.
