Bank of Canada Keeps Rates Unchanged at 5% as Expected, Signals End of Rate Hikes

The Bank of Canada held its policy rate at 5% for a fourth consecutive meeting, a pause that was widely expected, and explicitly stated for the first time that it was done with the tightening cycle and won’t need to increase it again if the economy evolves in line with its forecasts. BOC officials said the data show economic growth has stalled and will remain slow in the near term, which will help bring inflation back to the bank’s 2% target next year.

Red Sea Attacks Raise Inflation Risk as Shipping Costs Soar

Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have disrupted vital trade routes between Europe, the Middle East and Asia, sparking concerns about renewed inflationary pressures, Euronews writes.

13-Year-Old Driver, 4 Others Arrested After Mob Loots California Bakery in Street Takeover

A 13-year-old boy is accused of being behind the wheel of the car that plowed through the front doors of a small bakery in California earlier this month, allowing at least 100 people to ransack the shop during an illegal street takeover.

The 13-year-old boy, whose name wasn’t released because of his age, was one of five people arrested in connection to the looting at Reuben’s Bakery & Mexican Food on Jan. 2, according to KTLA.

Surveillance footage captured the white KIA, which police later identified as a stolen vehicle, reverse into the Compton-based store, “ramming a security gate multiple times until they were able to break it.”

The CEO of Alaska Airlines has ripped Boeing in the wake of the recent near-disaster, revealing that loose bolts were found on “many” of the company’s 737 MAX 9 planes.

CEO Ben Minicucci said that a new in-house inspection of the Boeing model in the fleet has uncovered that “many” of the planes had loose bolts.

“I’m angry. I’m more than frustrated and disappointed. I am angry,” Minicucci told NBC News Tuesday. “This happened to Alaska Airlines. It happened to our guests and happened to our people.

“And my demand on Boeing is what are they going to do to improve their quality programs in-house,” he added. “Boeing is better than this. Flight 1282 should never have happened.”

Annual Count of Homeless Residents Begins in Los Angeles, Where Tens of Thousands Live on Streets

Los Angeles County’s annual count of homeless residents began Tuesday night — a crucial part of the region’s efforts to confront the crisis of tens of thousands of people living on the streets.

Up to 6,000 volunteers with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority fanned out for the effort’s main component, the unsheltered street tally.

The so-called “point-in-time” count will take place over three days and aims to estimate how many people are unhoused and what services they may require, such as mental health or drug addiction treatment.

Hecklers angered by President Biden’s opposition to a cease-fire in Gaza again stole his show Wednesday — this time at an event where the United Auto Workers endorsed Biden for re-election and dismissed Donald Trump’s play for union votes.

“Cease-fire now!” a woman wearing a keffiyeh shouted, pumping her fist as she was shoved toward the exit at a hotel event space near the White House.

At least two other protesters, one of them holding a Palestinian flag, were dragged away, footage published on X by New York Times reporter Katie Rogers showed.

The disruptions were drowned out by union members chanting “UAW! UAW!”

Biden Vetoes Bipartisan Bill Protecting US EV Industry From China

President Biden vetoed a bipartisan resolution Wednesday that would have reversed his administration’s decision to waive “Buy America” requirements for taxpayer-funded electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The resolution, which was authored by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and introduced in July, would have specifically overturned the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Waiver of Buy America Requirements for Electric Vehicle Chargers. Rubio, the vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and other Republican lawmakers argued DOT’s waiver benefits Chinese manufacturers who dominate the EV charger supply chain.

Bloomberg Complains That Big Tech Companies Are Shunning Their “Arbiter” of Truth Role

As all physical roads lead to Rome — so all political and media ones truly lead to the US presidential election. And over the past eight years, the stakes have been getting ever higher.

Some cynics will say for no other reason than the shocking 2016 Trump victory which left the establishment reeling and disoriented, then in feverish search of a “culprit,” openly challenging election integrity — seemingly culminating with the “Russian interference” conspiracy theory.

But over the years, relentless censorship of all manner of “legal but dissenting,” let’s put it that way, opinions on social networks have also become the new normal.

Grisly Details in Murder of Detroit Synagogue President Samantha Woll Found Butchered to Death Emerge as Judge Adds Premeditated Murder Charge

Second Suspect, 19, Arrested in Deadly Mother’s Day Shooting of 10-Year-Old Arianna Davis

The first suspect in the 10-year-old’s murder was arrested in September 2023. Now a second man has been accused.

A second suspect, a 19-year-old, has been arrested in the murder of 10-year-old Arianna Davis, who died after a bullet flew through her family’s car on Mother’s Day, the Metropolitan Police Department announced Wednesday.

Dallas McKinney, of Southeast D.C., is accused of first-degree murder while armed.

Arianna’s family had celebrated Mother’s Day and was in the 3700 block of Hayes Street NE, west of DC-295, when a barrage of gunshots was fired, police said. Witnesses said they heard more than 50 shots.

The car Arianna was riding in was directly behind the suspect vehicle when the family saw multiple people get out of the car and begin shooting, police said.

Arianna’s family believes their car was struck by other people returning fire, police said.

A witness in the victims’ car told investigators they weren’t aware Arianna was injured until a younger child in the car said, “Ari, don’t die.”

When the family realized the child had been shot in the upper body, they rushed to a firehouse. She was then rushed to a hospital.

Arianna died three days later.

“Since the shooting, the community came forward with a number of tips and video evidence. Through community cooperation and the tireless work of MPD’s Homicide Branch, detectives were able to identify suspects,” D.C. police said.

Black Puppeteer Sues for Being Accused of Blackface During Black History Month

Last year, for Black History Month, Franck Sylvestre was canceled for racial stereotypes even though he’s black. Now he’s suing the Red Coalition which claims to fight “systemic racism”.

Sylvestre was born in France to parents from the French West Indies, he moved to Montreal and began putting on his own productions which combined music, slam poetry, dance and, this is where he got into trouble, puppetry.

While Sylvestre’s previous black history month shows had gone without a hitch, he began presenting ‘L’incroyable secret de Barbe Noire’ or ‘The Incredible Secret of Blackbeard’, meant for children, in which he acts out the part of a boy from his island home who on hearing a story from his grandfather discovers a treasure chest with gold from Cortez, of the famed pirate himself (while wearing a pink mask and wielding a wooden pirate sword), and a puppet.

The puppet is black.

Sylvestre’s family had originated from Martinique, once the haunt of Blackbeard, and his shows had incorporated stories and legends from the West Indies. The puppet, named Max, is supposed to be a caricature of himself who steps into the story. Making lookalike and caricature puppets is common enough in puppetry, but the rules are different for Sylvestre and his face.

After a decade of performing the award-winning play for kids, suddenly there were complaints and demands that the Blackbeard show be canceled.

The Red Coalition, an “anti-racism group”, held a press conference attacking a Montreal city for its “tolerance of a clearly racist children’s play featuring a grotesque blackface puppet.”

“I hope that the artist knows that in North America, the climate that we are in now, a blackface puppet, is totally not acceptable,” another professional anti-racist declared. “It’s not about being censored … it’s time for a change.”

Allison Saunders, a BLM rally organizer and school commissioner, claimed that she felt “disrespected” when she saw the puppet.

Can a man’s face be racist? According to professional anti-racists, it can and it is.

“I have the face I have. I have big lips and a big nose. The puppet is bald, however,” Sylvestre protested that the puppet is actually him. “It’s a precedent in terms of freedom of speech and artistic liberty.”

But it did no good.

A local city in Montreal canceled the show and a year later, Sylvestre is suing the anti-racists…

British Army So Weak Civilians Must be “Mobilised” in Event of War

As the world becomes more unstable, Britain’s ability to defend itself is falling to new depths. The situation has become so bad that senior officials say the public will need to be called up to fight if Britain goes to war.

Signs of this decline have been present for some time. An online war simulation held just two years before Russia invaded Ukraine saw the British Army run out of ammunition after a measly eight days. At the beginning of 2023, then-Defence Secretary Ben Wallace warned that the force had been “hollowed out” to such an extent over the past two to three decades that it had “fallen behind its peer group” and should stop “reaching beyond” itself.

Now, General Sir Patrick Sanders, who is head of the Army, warns that the government must “mobilise the nation” in the event of war with another nation.

German Steel Production Plunges to 15-Year Low

Steel production in Germany is cratering, reaching a low point last seen during the 2008 global economic crisis. Steel production dropped to 35.4 million tons in 2022, a decrease of 3.9 percent from 2021.

The hardest hit segment of steelworks was the electrical steel industry, which saw its production sink by almost 9 percent to 9.8 million tons, a figure even lower than the 2009 low. Overall, all segments of the steelworks industry in Germany saw declines.

Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, there has seen a continuous downward trend in the German steel sector, in large part due to soaring electricity prices.

Ukraine Indirectly Admits it Shot Down Large Russian Transport Plane, Possibly With Own POWs on Board

Update(12:10ET): The Kremlin is accusing Ukraine of shooting down the Russian Il-76 military transport plane that crashed in a border region near Ukraine. All 74 people aboard have been reported killed, including the 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war who were allegedly on board being transported.

The Kharkiv and Belgorod regions in particular have for months witnessed a huge uptick in aggressive Ukrainian military cross-border action, which has included use of missiles, mortars, and drones.

New reporting in The Associated Press suggests that Kiev has made an indirect admission of guilt, but there was no mention of Ukrainian POWs dying. “Hours after the crash, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made no mention of the crash in a statement,” writes AP. “But it added that Ukraine targets Russian military transport planes believed to be delivering missiles, especially near the border.”

This major incident not only points to more severe Russian escalation and retaliation on the horizon, but puts in peril any future Russia-Ukraine prisoner swaps, after a large recent one was successfully accomplished.

Supreme Court Decision Sparks Texas Independence Calls

Calls for Texas to declare independence from the United States are growing in the Lone Star State after the Supreme Court’s decision on Monday siding with the Biden administration over a border barrier dispute.

A female former inmate who was housed in New York City’s Rikers Island jail has launched a suit against the city after claiming she was “repeatedly sexually assaulted” by a biological male inmate who claimed to be transgender and was housed in the women’s section.

Allegations in the suit accuse Riker’s Island staff of instructing the man to identify as trans so he could gain access to women and lure them into a prostitution ring that the suit states staff were familiar with.

The lawsuit, brought forth by the inmate only known as Rose Doe, was filed at the Bronx Supreme Court in November of 2023, Reduxx reports.

Ohio Senate Overrides Republican Gov. Mike Dewine’s Veto of Bill That Would Outlaw Gender-Changing Services for Minors, Trans Athletes in Women’s Sports

The Republican-controlled Ohio Senate on Wednesday voted to override Gov. Mike DeWine’s veto of a bill outlawing gender-changing services for minors and banning transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports.

The override passed in a 23-9 vote after the Ohio House had earlier this month voted in favor of rescinding the Republican governor’s veto.

Ohio’s House Bill 68 prohibits doctors from prescribing hormones and puberty blockers for minors and from performing gender reassignment surgeries on people under 18.

The legislation also bars transgender females from playing on high school and college sports teams consistent with their gender identity.

University of Wisconsin Racism Seminar Tells Students ‘There Are No Exceptional White People’

They went beyond the pale.

A mandatory orientation for first-year University of Wisconsin Law School students denounced “whiteness” and ripped “colorblindness” as a sinister racist tool, according to reports.

The racial refresher was given last week to enrollees who had completed their first semester of instruction at the well-regarded Madison school helmed by dean Daniel Tokaji.

Students were given preparatory literature beforehand to acquaint them with the session’s imperatives.

Global Nuclear Power Generation to Hit an All-Time High in 2025

Authored by Tsvetana Paraskova via OilPrice.com

The comeback of nuclear power in many countries is expected to drive a record-high electricity generation from nuclear in 2025, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Wednesday.

By next year, global nuclear generation is forecast to exceed its previous record set in 2021, the IEA said in its Electricity 2024 report published today.

Even as some countries phase out nuclear power or retire plants early, global nuclear generation is expected to rise by nearly 3% per year on average through 2026. The key drivers of growth will be the completion of maintenance works in France, restart of some nuclear power plants in Japan, and new reactors coming online in China, India, South Korea, and Europe, among others, according to the IEA.

    ONLY ONE POSSIBLE SOLUTION EXISTS

    * * * * START REPATRIATION * * * *

    INTERNMENT – DEPORTATION – REPATRIATION

  2. __________________________________________________________

Swedish Commander-in-Chief Michael Bydén calls on all Swedes to prepare for war ahead of the expected NATO entry.

A similar message comes from Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oscar Bohlin (M).

    – Many have said it before me, but let me do it with the power of office.

    – Less wrapped up, and with unvarnished clarity: There could be war in Sweden,
stated Carl-Oscar Bohlin at the People and Defense National Conference on Sunday last week.

The minister’s view of the situation is shared by ÖB Michael Bydén, who later spoke about the matter on TV4’s NewsMorning,.
According to him, all Swedes must be ready for war.

    – We must understand how serious this situation really is and that, down to the individual level, you mentally have to prepare, he said.

Sweden is still awaiting Turkey’s and Hungary’s approval of NATO membership.

But the government has already managed to sign an agreement that gives the US the right to establish military bases in a long line of Swedish military areas (17) in a way that has been criticized as reminiscent of a regular occupation.

At the same time, the government has also decided to abolish support for organizations that work for peace and disarmament.

These bold statements must be set against the approximately 2 million unfriendly foreigners, many of them Islamists, who have relatively recently been granted either permanent residence or citizenship. They must be made to return home as soon as possible, if the country is not to go under.

The language of choice should be:

    internment – deportation – repatriation,

    – Start the repatriation process now!

    • Far too little and far too late, your going to have shoot them until staying risks their lives, then they will leave. Open Season as so to speak.

  3. I reckon most here’ll appreciate this missive..

“I have come to the depressing conclusion that the white ethnicities that constituted the nations of Western Civilization have degenerated into such insouciance and stupidity that they have no possibility of survival. They sit mindlessly in front of TV absorbing their brainwashing and indoctrination. They can’t pay their rent, mortgage or car payments, but they pay endlessly for care of immigrant-invaders who are overwhelming their communities with material needs.”

    Aloha Snackbar, Obamericans!!

    • The last couple of days, I have started to think they know they are going lose and may be dividing into two camps, those who try to assimilate into the other side or make peace for now and those that double down. I have flimsy evidence but it based on those saying Trump was actually right about things and had effective policies but he was the wrong messenger and the Kari Lake tape. There is a “They”.

      • “I have started to think they know they are going lose and may be dividing into two camps, those who try to assimilate into the other side or make peace for now and those that double down.”

I think you’re correct about the split, but I’ve seen nothing suggesting that any of these sexually-confused ‘toddlers’re ready to assimilate to anything other than the next tantrum. I reckon the dividing line’s between those who’re preparing for OUR assimilation and those who’re preparing for a serious cat fight—the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” kind.

Although originally intended for Obamerica, sadly, this now goes for the UK/EU as well…
“ASSIMILATE, SEPARATE (Two-State Solution) or ASSASSINATE (go to war)—those’re the options. Hopefully, in the long-run, cooler heads’ll prevail and we’ll [peacefully] choose one of the first two before the third option’s foisted upon us by events. But once large numbers of Obamericans’re unable to work—either due to widespread protests/riots, financial calamity or political chaos—I fear that the collectivists’ cheese’ll slide off the constitutional cracker.
The clock’s ticking..” —posted to fb (Oct 2018)

        • You know that this does not end well Fred, the time for so called peaceful means has come and gone, the WEF and Soros fingers in every pie has made impossible to end peacefully. You know this, perhaps wishful thinking?

          • “You know that this does not end well Fred, the time for so called peaceful means has come and gone, the WEF and Soros fingers in every pie has made impossible to end peacefully. You know this, perhaps wishful thinking?”

Not disagreeing, just hoping (against reason) you’re wrong.

  4. “In its modern history the U.S. has never suffered an INVASION of the homeland and, yet, one is unfolding now. Military aged men from across the globe, many from countries or regions not friendly to the United States, are landing in waves on our soil by the thousands – not by splashing ashore from a ship or parachuting from a plane but rather by foot across a border that has been accurately advertised around the world as largely unprotected with ready access granted.” —FBI

    • Welcome to the new Balkans my friend, only the scope and scale will change. This is what diversity has wrought upon us, for diversity always, without exception, ends in a massive amount of bloodletting as we go tribal as events continue to spiral out of anyone’s control.

      • “Welcome to the new Balkans my friend”

You betcha! But you’re preaching to the choir, G..

“The US is NOT headed for Civil War!

However, we’re definitely on a crash-coarse for armed conflict, just not one separated by a geographic dividing line. Think: Bosnia, not Gettysburg.

During the US Civil War, the country was severely divided over three principal issues: states’ rights; the right of individual states to secede from the union; and “Bleeding Kansas”—whether new states would be permitted to choose whether to implement slavery or not. On virtually all other issues of law and morality, the country was in complete—Judeo-Christian, constitutional—lock-step.

Today, however, hyphenated- and non-hyphenated Americans can’t even agree on the definitions of “victim” and “victimizer”—the basic building blocks of law and morality; and the foundational moral and legal tenets around which healthy civilizations must coalesce. And therein lies the difference….and the great danger. When civilizations forced to live amongst one another lack any shared foundational understandings—with radically contrasting and, on one side, ever-“evolving” views of right versus wrong, good versus bad, success versus failure, legal versus illegal—they must inevitably and unavoidably find themselves confronted with three options: Assimilate, Separate (a peaceful “Two-State Solution”) or Assassinate (i.e., go to war); and history offers no other solutions that I’m aware of.

With one side armed with the Bill of Rights and the rule of law, and the other actively working to erase them, I fear we’re on a divisive and chaotic carnival ride that isn’t likely to end where it began.” —posted to fb (June 2020)
